ABSOLUTE THIEVES! After showing up 2 hrs after I called and acting like he was doing me a huge favor, the drives demanded extra payment (in cash!!) to he would not tow my car as agreed. No receipt and no credit cards… hmmm… nothing shady about that. When I told him I’d really like a receipt so I can get reimbursed by insurance, he got very angry, to the point where I thought I would need to call the police to intervene. Eventually he agreed to tow my car, after shaking me down for the extra cash. I followed him in my dad’s car to the tow location. He got lost, then called me from his cell to tell me I would be responsible for the extra mileage. What a joke!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!!!
All the people who threw in a 5 star rating are either fake, or his friends. Because this person is a maniac and I think he had some kind of psychological disorder and all that crap and no one would give him a 5star LOL. He behaves like a split personality.
A friend of mine met with an accident on CT 15 on a bad Saturday. so the cop called these guys in to tow the car off the road. The car’s radiator was gone. My friend and I went to get the car on Monday. And he charged us $ 420 for towing and storage. I’m from India and he thought he can speak whatever he wants. WRONG MF !! The car wasn’t fixed yet, and for dropping off the car in our parking lot, he wants another $ 130. So we felt that $ 130 is a lot, and asked him if we could have our friend tow it for us. He was like «No, I would tow it on to the street for $ 90 and you can have your friend tow it to your place, end of the story». And he doesn’t want to give us an itemized receipt and doesn’t take cards. This dude definitely was going something wrong. We had to call the cops. Stay away from this guy!!!

High quality work at a fair price. I took my wife’s Nissan Rogue here for new brakes and rotors after working with the dealership several times and continuing to have issues. Easily invested close to a $ 1,000 at our dealership only to continue having brake problems. A family member recommended Megills and I decided to give them a try. The staff was great, service was timely, and price was right. They replaced all of my brake pads, rotors, and properly bled the lines. Didn’t have any issues after that and eventually traded in the vehicle. I also ended up using them for brakes on my Ford Fusion and again great service and price. They used high quality parts that exceeded the performance of the overpriced garbage the dealerships scam you with and I’ll continue using them for all of my service needs. Highly recommended!

Megill’s is the only place I’ll go to get my car checked up in the New Haven area. These guys never try to sell me more than I need — the big name chain places always rip me off on services that didn’t really need to be done, but Megills will be upfront about whether or not my car is having the problem I think it’s having. I’ve had four great experiences there!

I got two opportunities to test their services. The first one was towing service. The battery of my car died and they did show up fast and did replace the battery. Later on they replaced the tires for new ones I bought with them.
They were efficient, fast and they charged a fair price. Thumb’s up.

It’s a tragedy to even have to click so far to the right as to give these reprobates a one star rating.

Megill’s ilegally tows cars around New Haven, CT with corrupt authority. My car was parked LEGALLY, however, Megill’s is a DIRTBAG cog in the ‘can’t fight city hall’ machine. $ 160 to get my car back-​no way out.
Now, I would EXPECT this of somewhere, say like, Meineke or Jiffy Lube. But these SCUMBAGS reserve the right to open a mom and pop operation to assert their ‘one-​of-​a-​kind’ patheticism on those that fall prey.

I went to visit relatives in new haven and i just happen to get a damn flat tire on my way there! what luck right! the guy thAT came to help me was so nice! and easy on the eyes too. everything was a reasonable price which i enjoyed. Thanks again, saved my butt from the cold snow.

Stay away. Stay far, far away. My car was towed here one evening recently, and getting it back was a living nightmare. When the tow guy finally showed up to give me back my car (I waited outside in the dark for 2.5 hours, after he said «come right over»), he was belligerent, physically intimidating, and screamed (no really, screamed) at me to get off of his property. I am a woman and ended up having to call the police – that’s how scary this guy was. I’m also a mental health clinician, and this is the kind of person who you’re likely to hear about in the news someday. Anger management problems doesn’t begin to capture the issues that this man has…
Bottom line: Unless you want to risk your safety, DO NOT go here.

A good mechanic is kind of like a good dentist – once you find one, you don’t go anywhere else. I now live 30 miles away from Megills, but I still won’t bring my car anywhere else.
Back when I was broke, I had a crummy car. A REALLY crummy car. a 92 Chrystler Lebaron that always had a different problem. I would bring it to Megills expecting a massive bill, but not once did I ever get overcharged or felt like they were trying to pull one over on me. In fact, once I had a gas leak and was half expecting to have to junk the car – turns out it was a leaky hose that they replaced. Total cost: $ 20.
Mechanics that dont do unnecessary work or make you feel like you’re being cheated are one in a million. Megills is one of those!

I, and my family, have been customers of Megill’s for years for a few simple reasons — impeccable customer service at a fair and reasonable price.
I could go through a laundry list of experiences over the years, but here is the latest example:
My car had a flat tire a week before Christmas. I put on my spare tire and, annoyingly, it too was flat. I called up Megill’s and asked if they could send someone to give a little air. Within 20 mins, they were there and filled me up quick — free of charge.
I drove around on the spare for a few days, a little nervous, so I called up Megill’s and asked what they could do. I explained that I had plans to buy new tires after the holiday season, but that money was really tight at the moment. I have a Buick Regal — the absolute cheapest tire I could purchase was $ 80 per tire + labor it would have easilly been over $ 100.
I spoke with Mac (the owner) and he said to bring it by, and that he would look for a used tire to put on. I dropped my car off in the afternoon, and with an hour got a call back saying that they had found a spare used tire, and that I could pick it up.
Quick, efficient service. When I got there, my bill with labor was $ 60. $ 60 — with a tire and labor — I think anywhere else it would have cost about double. And the «used» tire that was put on is loads better than any of the other tires I currently have — it’s practically brand new.
No other mechanic I know, would work harder to help out a customer given a tight budget. And this is just one example, it has happened time and time again.
In my experience, they work mostly on American cars — I’ve personally bought two buicks and a ford off of them — all were well priced, clean, and ran for years.
It’s hard to find a good mechanic these days — Mac and his team over at Megill’s are A-​1, and my first choice in the New Haven area.

BAD.
Maybe he just hated me. Maybe because I’m a college student from out of state, he thought I was the one in the wrong, a pushover, and can tell me whatever he wants.
I’m from New York. My car was brought to his shop after a speeding car entered my lane and veered me off the road, rolling my car down a hill. Yes, I made it out miraculously uninjured. I’m still freaking out about that. So anyway, car was brought here. He (I’m assume he was the owner but I won’t give names) was at first fairly nice. When my mother called, he gave her the details what was wrong with the car. He’s aware that she is in NY and hasn’t seen the car. He reported that we had EXTENSIVE body damage, front and back bumpers had were falling off, roof had damage. Car was dented.
The car’s bumpers were completely in tact and fine. No dents. And at this point, my mom is comparing pictures of the car that was taken at the accident scene, and she calmly states that Saturns do not dent. Which is true. They shatter, but do not dent. Instantly, this man became furious with her, telling her «she shouldn’t do his job for him» and yelling that he can’t work with people who do not trust him.
I arrived today to pick up my car, 3 days after the accident. Total cost to get it out of there and move it to my friends’ house is– get ready– $ 740. CASH. He did not accept any form of card. ALSO. He demanded that we leave, YELLING AT US to get out. At this point I’m crying because I’m just trying to get information, I’m traumatized and I’m not very good at handling situations like this. I have never been treated so badly in my life before. He was downright rude, ignoring us, and being INTENTIONALLY mean. He refused to give us details on the car, claiming that he already went over it with my mom, with me, and that he «didn’t have time to play my games.» I wouldn’t have even gotten a copy of the paperwork if someone else did not come in.
Rude. Asshole. Rudest ever. Do not go here if you want to ask questions about your car, because questioning him apparently means insulting him. I think we have a right– as the car owners– to know WHY I’m being charged $ 740.
We’re filing a report against this place with BBB. That is all. I’ve NEVER been treated so badly in my life. Being yelled at by a business owner when I’m a CUSTOMER?
Rude. Please guys. Don’t go here. I’m going to find another place that is cheaper, NICER, and is not ridiculous. He estimated that my car is going to be at least $ 5k to repair. I’ve already spoken to another mechanic and they said at the very most, $ 3k. This place– that man– is a liar. A thief. And he was just mean because my mom caught him in his own lie.
