History

Established in 2011.

The Bourse, New Haven’s Coworking Loft, was established in 2011 in the historic English Building on Chapel Street, in the heart of downtown New Haven. Since its inception, owners Robert and Carol Orr have brought back the building’s immediate charm, unique character, and warm, inviting personality. Their vision has been to use The Bourse as a vessel in which to cultivate a coworking space that drives positive change in the New Haven community through helping create fresh, powerful ideas, small businesses, and local events. New Haven has become an ideal environment for new business, startup ventures, and profound ideas, and The Bourse is at the center of it all. Rather than abandon their home of 40 years, Robert and Carol Orr saw New Haven’s intrinsic value and potential for change. The Bourse, in the core of downtown, is here to help capture the spirit of social innovation and social progress taking place in the community.

Robert Orr, along with his wife Carol Orr, own and operate The Bourse, New Haven’s Coworking Loft, in downtown New Haven, Connecticut. Robert and Carol have lived in the New Haven area for 40 years, and have dedicated countless amounts of energy toward preserving, renovating, and establishing a better local community in New Haven. The Bourse acts as a channel for this energy, in so far as it has become a center for shared workspace, new idea generation, and new businesses starting up in the greater New Haven area. As proud and loyal citizens of New Haven, Robert and Carol Orr donate enormous amounts of continued time and energy into improving the community through being local, small business owners and operators, as well as helping generate game-​changing ideas for the future of the city and region.
