History
Established in 1927.
The Bayou Bar is located inside of the historic Pontchartrain Hotel. A watering hole for many famous stars such as Frank Sinatra and Walt Disney, the bar is steeped in history and mystique. Soothing wall murals, rendered by Charles Reineke, depicting the old ways of the bayou, scatter the scene, while the seasoned grand piano creates an intriguing focal point.
In 2007, The Pontchartrain closed its doors for renovations. It re-opened in the spring of 2010, re-positioning itself in the niche market of luxury style apartments for a 50+ community. The famed Carribean Room is now a private dining facility for its residents, while the Bayou Bar remains open to the public.
