The location is really good, and the room is HUGE! We had more closets than suitcases! We were able to park on the street during St. Patrick’s weekend.
We went for breakfast somewhere else because the selection here left much to be desired.
We had a full bed, which is very small for a hotel. And any movement made a lot of noises for the headboard poles so close to the wall.
Iron was in the closet in the hallway, accessible to any guest who went looking for it (we called reception to ask for it).
Valet parking was expensive, but normal to the prices you see around NOLA.

Room was nice but no iron. Staff wasn’t the most professional but friendly. Didn’t bother me but might other people. Complimentary breakfast was pretty underwhelming. Cereal, stale muffins and bread with toaster.

The Hotel Pontchartrain is lovely! It’s on a street car route that you can take all over the city. The staff was super helpful and polite, and our room was divine — we had a top-​floor suite and it was spacious, clean and perfectly Victorian. I would definitely stay here again, especially if I’m looking to have a quieter vacation, as the hotel is located away from the craziness of the French Quarter.

This place is great, semi grand, and beautiful. Reminds me of the old south. I can see the historical slave servants serving in the breakfast room. I can’t get that out of my head because of how the place looks. This angers me. But, the hotel does not reflect that past in its service, attention to detail, kindness and cleanliness. But seriously you should have full kitchens and/​or dishwashers. Kitchenettes are always half way there. Odd review I know. Oh by the by they have ghost or so some of the other guest have told me. So far no experiences myself.

Made a reservation for this place through Expedia. Online the pictures show a classic, Victorian hotel that’s complete with modern amenities. When we got here, though, it’s clearly obvious the pictures were a lie.
Checking in was okay enough, but the room left more than enough to be desired. The furniture looked beat down. The bedding was worn through and the room STUNK. It smelled like… well, I won’t get into that, but it basically smelled like someone had about an hour use of the place before we got there. Plus, the place was dirty.
We left immediately and found a room at the Hyatt Place, which ironically enough was a lot less expensive for a better experience.

The front desk staff was so incompetent and rude that I took my business elsewhere. I didn’t make it past reservations because the employees continued to pass me off to one another. I just needed assistance making a reservation on their website and asked if they could assist me. They had no idea if they accept a AAA discount. How do you not know? The manager said we sometimes take it. I just wanted to make sure and she was very rude about it. I was going to book anyways but after that experience I decided not to.

I am in town for the SHRM conference which is being held at The Sheraton on Canal Street. I came a few days early to see NOLA and decided to stay at The Pontchartrain. I was presently surprised. When I arrived it was 10am on the day I was expected to check in. I am a very regular traveler for work and am accustomed to not getting access to my room until the official check in time, which is usually 3pm. So surprised when the woman at the front desk found me a room that was clean for me to check in early.
It is a great little hotel. It’s clean, staff are super friendly and accommodating and it’s so conveniently located with the trolley across the street. I have just checked into The Sheraton for my conference and I’m sorry to leave The Pontchartrain behind. While the Sheraton is a nice hotel, I totally miss the friendly warm feeling from the P.

Love this Victorian style hotel. The staff is AMAZING… They are trained well & knows what customer service is all about. I give them 10 stars. I felt at home instead of at a hotel. I lucked up on this hotel & got a great deal thru
The rooms are very roomy, big closets, refrig, microwave & the best part the trolly stop is right across the street & comes about every 10 min & runs 24⁄7 ($ 1.25 or $ 3.00 for a day pass) Tons of places to eat in walking distance.

Awesome. Like a boutique hotel. Charming refurbished old NOLA charming. We had a one bedroom suite overlooking the city and bridge. Staff very friendly and informative. Great location across from travel services. On the st Charles trolley. Walk to magazine st and very beautiful homes. No need to stay in the French quarters. Plenty to see right here.

I can’t tell you how amazed I was staying here. I have never found such a kind, delightful, and professional staff in my life. Cathy, Daphne, and Kelly were so wonderful to me and my girlfriend! The history behind the hotel was co incredible, and It made you feel like you were part of it. If you want to stay somewhere, where you feel, not only like a true guest, but family… Stay here!

I am in town from Los Angeles and was recommended to stay here from a couple collegues in the film industry. All I can say is that if you want a classy hotel with very friendly service that goes above and beyond your expectations — Pontchartrain Hotel is the place to be!
