Harrah’s New Orleans

I enjoyed a four-​night stay at Harrah’s while attending a conference. I used Priceline’s express bids feature to secure my room. Despite the somewhat hidden resort fee (that’s really a PL issue), the per night rate with all fees and taxes was a steal. The location is a within an easy (and safe) walk to the convention area as well as the French Quarter.
The room was very cleaned, smartly appointed with travel necessities and (most importantly) quiet.

Beautiful hotel rooms, fast and friendly service although pretty slow valet (took us almost thirty minutes to get our car and there was only one valet working), nice casino too. Overall a great place to stay, especially if you like to gamble. And it’s an easy walk to lots of great restaurants like Emerils!

Rooms were clean with decent size. Didn’t see any mold or torn sheets like other reviewers have mentioned. Just weird that the casino is across the street from the hotel. Guess I’m used to Vegas hotels with the casino being below the hotel

It was seafood night. 32 plus tax and tip. Most of the food had been resting and was not fresh. Fried shrimp was hard as a rock way overcooked. Thierry gumbo was passable but a little salty. Asian food looked like it was two hour old. Except for the crab legs most items was not fresh tried the bread pudding and it was very dry. Disappointed.. Red beans and dirty rice was passable. Probably should have been two stars. Service was good

Excellent hotel and service! On my recent visit to New Orleans, I decided to stay at the Harrah’s casino hotel per the insistence of my friend. I was a little reluctant to stay there at first due to my experiences with casino hotels in Atlantic City, but the location was good and it was just one night. I am sooooo glad my friend convinced me to stay there! It was beautiful! I didn’t go into the casino at all so this is just a review of their rooms.
Beautiful. Spacious. Grande.
These are the best words to describe our room. Our supposedly, simple, two-​bed room looked more like a suite! The bathroom was huge and had a nice shower and separate Jacuzzi tub. The room had all the amenities we needed (fridge) and the beds were nice and comfy for a long day of walking in the Quarter. Everyone at the hotel was very nice and welcoming and I genuinely had a wonderful stay. I highly recommend Harrah’s hotel for anyone who visits.

Nice casino in walking distance to the French Quarter. Decent buffet serving Southern favorites. Large selection of slots. Very poor cocktail service.

Have you been to Harrah’s in Vegas? If so, this is nothing like it at all!
First, a complaint. The total rewards line takes way too long. Big spenders get priority, I get that. It’s a casino, but it shouldn’t take 30 minutes just to sign up for a card. Only two people working the desk on a weekend seems kind of crazy.
The casino is enormous. The first thing I noticed was it didn’t smell like an ashtray– something that I can’t say for other casinos in this region.
The décor is kind of crazy. Lots of purples, kind of Mardi Gras, kind of not. It’s fun and fortunately, not obnoxious.
The best part of my experience here was that I could order my drink directly from the slot machine. No more waving down my waitress. And they came so quickly! Less than 5 minutes I had a drink! My biggest hang up is the length of time drinks take– I get it, they can’t run them out fast, they’re free, but these didn’t take long at all, which was good for my happiness but bad for my wallet. I wish everything had a built in bar associated to it.
When you want to get off Bourbon St, head to Harrah’s, it’s a good time for sure!

Staffs are friendly and accommodating. Nice view of Mississippi River from our room. Spacious rooms, nice bathroom and soft pillows & blankets. Over all I’ll give it a 4 star.

We got to stay here for over 3 nights for free.
The moment we arrived, Michael, the man who works valet, was SUPER friendly. He gave us his name and told us, if we had ANY questions at all the whole stay, to just ask. He was THE BEST and was just amazing. He went out of his way to be polite and to answer any and all questions guests had. Seeing him whenever I walked back in the hotel was like seeing a friend. I loved him!
The check in process was super quick and friendly. They answered every question I had.
I loved the rooms. Gorgeous and spacious. The beds were super comfortable. I had such a good night’s rest here every single night.
We did have a little hiccup on room cleaning but they tried to remedy it as quickly as possible. Took a little while longer than I’d like but I won’t fault them for that.
Love that it’s smoke-​free as well as the smoke-​free casino. However, to get to the hotel, you have to walk a little bit to get over there.
Also, it’s not right in the French Quarter (a bit of a 10 – 15 min walk) but that made for a nice quiet stay, which was great.

I don’t understand why Unilocal won’t split Harrahs Casino and Harrahs Hotel cause they’re two separate things! OK — they’re owned together, but really. That’s it.
We’ve stayed here many times. The rooms are good sized and probably the best «powder rooms» in NOLA. Huge… marble, showers, spa tubs, separate «water» closets. Beautiful. Be sure and ask for a river view cause it’s beautiful. One of the first things we do is turn the sofa around so we can sit and gaze at the river traffic. The maid told us everyone did this, so they really should look at reconfiguring the design. If you get a room on the city side it’s not much of a view.
Always easy to check in, and all personnel are helpful. Room service is awesome — first thing we do when checking in is order a cheese and fruit tray we can eat off all week (yes, rooms have refrigerators)
There’s a Ruth Chris steakhouse in the lobby, and a coffee stand open in the mornings only across the closed off street. That’s also where you walk underground to the casino with all it’s food options.
And the location is perfect… a block in any direction will put you in a place you want to be whether it’s the river, mall, French Quarter, casino, warehouse district. This is one of my favorite places to stay in NOLA. Even if it’s a «casino hotel»

«New Orleans isn’t all that» but this hotel was very nice. The staff made every part of my day special in some way. They made conversation and seemed to genuinely enjoy making everyone around them happy. Like any good relationship, there genuineness and consideration made all the difference.
The hotel is clean and very modern in every way imaginable. The rooms are very nice and have the top shelf linens and design to prove it. I love the paintings and art displayed throughout the hotel. Ruth Chris Steakhouse is just beyond the main entrance and doesn’t disappoint. 4 star food and drink and very classy atmosphere.
The pool, spa and workout facility was a pleasant surprise because it was over and above what I was expecting and I always expect the best of everything.
If you come to New Orleans give this gem a try and thank me afterwards for the recommendation.

I am not going to be a «sore» loser. I didn’t win anything. I had fun though. I love that you can order your cocktail from your machine. This Casino is huge!!! The poker room was packed like a free crab leg buffet! Seriously keep your phone charged if your friends game differently than you do. Bathrooms were conveniently located and clean. At some point a jazz band marched through the casino and had everyone dancing in the aisles. Customer Service was as good as it Should be, I was looking for something at one point and asked a staff member to help me and instead of just pointing she actually walked me over. Thank goodness because my internal compass has been broken for a while. Good time had by all!

Stayed here for one night while in NOLA and it ended up being a pretty legit expierience.
Gamble for 30 minutes with a players reward card and get free 24 hour parking, just show the lady in parking garage your card and ID.
Rooms are spacious, marble, bathrooms ample enough and separate toilets for elite private exposure. Requested a king but some how they were out of kings even though the hotel was dead but who knows.
The Casino itself is pretty baller and is up to par with Vegas casinos, huge, lots of food choices, bars, and seating, a lot of slot machines that take all your moneys. They also have NO Wheel of Fortune machines which is BS, but hey those win and they can’t have anything that wins here. But get the lady who massages in the connection underneath the hotel it’s totally worth it.

It’s Vegas away from Vegas. There’s a line for the buffet and every table has at least 1 plate of crab legs. The price was around $ 25 for dinner. There are some food options such as McAllister’s, Fuddruckers, and Starbucks, but that’s about it. My bf lost $ 50 to blackjack and that was about as far as our adventure into Harrah’s. The casino has slots and dealing tables that seem to go for miles.
The security is tight. The lady who checked my ID could hardly believe it was me. She had to ask how old I was when I had my picture taken and what my ‘real’ birthday was. Her reaction was entertaining to watch!

If I can deter even one person from coming here, I’m happy. Last night, my husband was pick pocketed right on the casino steps AS AN EMPLOYEE watched! When he brought it up to management, they did not care one bit. They ushered him aside and told him to wait for the police. Eventually, they even threw him out because he was (understandably) upset. He was able to file a police report, thankfully. Needless to say, we will never be returning here due to the horrifying staff.
I understand NOLA can sometimes be a sketchy place, but we’ve been here so many times and have never felt this kind of fear, violation and neglect. How is there NO security at the doors of your establishment? You are responsible for the welfare of your guests! And what is the purpose of the employee standing guard … to oversee all the illegal activity occurring outside without lending a hand or calling the police? I would advise everyone to stay as far away as possible from this place.

This review is for the hotel only.
As a hotel, it’s average. The rooms are nice and typically large. The hotel is clean. There are not a lot of amenities such as a hotel bar, etc. there is Ruth Chris Steakhouse and Mannings restaurant in the lobby/​nearby.
There are some things that are lacking at this hotel, specifically:
No pool
No security at the door, just a key card elevator
Limited staff at the front desk… long lines and it’s SLOW
It’s a fine hotel but if you are looking for a typical hotel resort experience, try the JW Marriott or the W instead.

I don’t gamble, and this was my first experience even setting foot inside of a casino. It’s sort of like a Disney World for adults, all the lights and music. Everyone was very friendly, cocktail waitresses came around to all the craps, blackjack, and roulette tables to make sure everyone was nice and pliable. I got a kick at some of the arcade style slot machine games, Kiss and Big Bang Theory themed.
The bar area has ice on it so your drink stays cool– this should be a thing everywhere. They also had some of the best karaōke singers I’ve ever heard. One woman did an amazing version of Aretha Franklin’s natural woman– someone get this lady a job, jesus. It’s gonna sound nuts, but the ceilings were my favorite part. They were done up to look like the night sky, blacks and purples, with little dotted lights for stars.
I put $ 20 into a Dolly Parton slot machine, sang Jolene, and walked away with 25 cents. So that’s gambling! Thanks Harrah’s ;)

I really like this casino. It’s very easy to access in the French Quarter, it’s always clean, and I always have a good time, whether it’s shooting craps, playing blackjack, or roulette.
Given the number of times I’ve won and lost here, I’ve probably broken even over the years :). I’m not a huge gambler. I mostly come for the free drinks and the easy drink ordering on the machines. Though I definitely feel the amount of alcohol I’ve been getting has decreased each year that I visit…
All in all, a fun place to throw some money around and waste time during the day on a NO trip.

I’m not a gambler but my wife really enjoys the casino so in we went during our stay in NOLA.
I’m rating 5 stars solely based on the fact that this casino is smoke free. The smoke free environment made my stop in much more manageable.
Thank you for caring about your patrons’ lungs, eyes and scent while in your establishment. Hopefully WA casinos will follow NOLA lead soon with smoke free casinos.

Nice casino in NOLA to pass time, seems to be my Nieces spot when she is bored… I have to watch her (side eye) drinks are nice and stiff enough to keep the money flowing out of your pockets. The décor of the casino is really nice to look at, reminds me of the vanetian in Las Vegas.
I’m not much of a gambler so I just watched my sister play the Nickle and Penny slots.

Average sort of casino. The hotel is not attached, which means the casino structure stands alone and is presumably may only be entered by those who are age of majority (they check ID on the way in). I guess that’s a law? Seems strange to have a stand-​alone structure surrounded by roads.
The blackjack limits were high considering that the games are terrible (8 deck shoes, or an even higher limit for 6 deck, no late surrender, no resplitting aces). $ 15 craps limits; jeez. I wandered around and eventually found some 99% video poker multistrike machines, which became my obsession for the next few days. Most of the video poker is substantially less than full pay.
In short, the gambling is below-​average from an odds perspective. I understand Biloxi casinos are better in that respect.
The drink service to 25 cent video poker is probably a little faster than usual. It’s a cheap buzz, as someone mentioned, but they have no good beer (all watery macro stuff). The buffet is what you’d expect from a casino.
