Prince Conti Hotel

Bring that it was $ 100 for the night right off Bourbon Street, wasn’t a bad deal. The rooms were very clean and staff was very polite.
Knocked off a star due to the light in the bathroom. Seems someone put in the wrong light. It was sooooooo hot under that light. Looked like it was left on and the ceramic/​paint on the toilet started bubbling and pealing.

This is the second time we stayed here. We like it because it is a clean, affordable place to stay that is just one block off Bourbon. The other good thing is that it is very centrally located.
On both our visits, the staff was very friendly and helpful. On this visit, we were not leaving until several hours after checkout so they stored our luggage until we were ready to leave. If you have an early flight into NOLA, they will do the same if your room is not ready when you get there.
We had a deluxe King, which is the cheapest King bedroom. Our bed was a little firm, but I like firm beds. My husband does not. The AC worked well, which is important when you are staying in a hot climate. One complaint I had is that they could use a higher grade of sheets and better pillows. Also, it would be nice to have a mini fridge.
While I think they could do a little upgrading to the bedding, and maybe re-​wallpaper the rooms, we would go there again. It is so convenient, it is clean, and the staff is friendly.

Whatever you do, do not book this hotel through Travelocity. You will end up paying Ritz Carlton prices for a basic hotel. Then they will charge you $ 20 for extra guest staying on top of the $$$ you paid to Travelocity even though you paid $ 200 more per night than their listed rates on the hotel website. They don’t cut you a break at all. They penny pinch you for everything. It will be a lost battle trying to talk to Travelocity. Please do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Plenty of hotels to choose from around the area. I paid $ 350 per night with Travelocity and the hotel website stated $ 159 per night for 4 people. No refund from Travelocity.
I will never ever stay at this place again and will never do business with Travelocity again.

My husband and I stayed here for five nights from March 9 through March 14, 2016. We booked a petite room since on a budget and I was a little nervous it would be super small but we had plenty of space. The room was plenty spacious for two people and their luggage. There was a safe in the closet. The TV was decent sized and the room was clean and tidy for an older hotel.
The staff was very pleasant and helpful, even letting us check in early. They were very knowledgeable and eager to help with cabs, directions, etc.
The elevator is a little slow, so don’t expect to get out of the hotel right away if you are in a hurry, but we never really had an issue.
The location of this hotel can’t be beat, about a half block off Bourbon, away from the noise of the street but close enough to safely walk to. Right across the street from a great 24 hour bar/​restaurant called Deja Vu. Also right across the street from Erin Rose which has $ 3 mimosas, bloody mary’s and these coffee drinks everyone raves about. (I can’t drink caffeine or I would have had one!) The hotel also has Café Conti, which was excellent and one of the best breakfasts I had while there.
We will stay here again next time we are in Nola! Can’t wait for it!

Looked and looked for hotels to stay at while in New Orleans and we came across this gem.
I will start off by saying, if you are a Marriott or higher end hotel person, this place is not for you! If you are a person who likes older locations with history and want location this is the place you need to stay at.
First off, the location can’t be beat. We never rented a car for the weekend when we stayed here. It is only a few blocks from Canal St., it is half a block off of Bourbon St., and is walking distance to Jackson Square and close to the trolley line to get you to other locations.
The lobby was very small. There was room for just one person behind the «front desk». At the other end of the room, there is a small table and 2 chairs in what looks like a study area. Other than that, if there was 4 people in there waiting, it was going to be a tight fit!
The corridors to the rooms are really narrow. The doors to all the rooms have character to them with raised decorative art.
The room itself was cute, as in old-​fashioned and kind of unique. The rooms have very high ceilings which open up the rooms a lot. When you enter the room, you feel like you are stepping back in time. It is furnished with antiquated items.
The bathroom was really small which made it hard for 2 people to get ready at the same time, but we made it work.
I don’t recall hearing noise from Bourbon St which was nice. Especially since we were really close and with it being an older hotel they didn’t build them sound proof like today.
I just needed a decent hotel to stay at while on vacation for a few days. We knew the room was going to be to sleep and shower. For those reason, it was perfect. The hotel was safe, all the workers were nice and polite, and a great location for us. If you are coming here as a couple this is a great place. If you are coming with a large group, it might not be for you.
As far as the rate, I can’t remember what we paid, but I do know it was a lot cheaper to stay here than other locations and it was close to Bourbon St.

Was charged $ 465 for just two nights of a smelly, squeaky, and mediocre, at best, stay. Requested wedding party discount, everyone else besides I received — was never granted that discount as the «sales dept» never got back with me; how convenient the receivables dept was much more communicative than sales… with me. Would highly advise against staying here, not sure they deserve even one star.

We had a great time at Prince Conti Hotel. We stayed in room 100. It was beautiful! It was close to Bourbon street. It was a great price. The staff was wonderful. They stored our bags on the day we checked out, set up our cab to the airport. Over all it was great. I highly recommend staying here!

The guy was a jerk over the phone but luckily we had someone else at the front desk who was quite polite and friendly. The hotel was ok. The Bombay club was really cool. The service is inconsistent. Overall, I enjoyed my time here.

A Valentino French Quarter hotel — they have five boutique hotels, locally owned, operated. I’ve stayed @ the Prince Conti many times over many years. Charming in its nod to the British. I find the rates more than reasonable.
I am baffled by all the negative comments. It’s known for its cleanliness. Never had an outlet that didn’t work. The closets are faced with mirror top to bottom. Wi-​Fi is free. Never seen an old-​fashioned TV. It’s OLD & charming. The lobby is small, but comfortable. I know, thank you 2015 storm Goliath. Sat on that leather camel backed sofa using my iPad, waiting for airport transport quite comfortably. Do you usually hang out in the lobby? You’re not paying for a fridge or microwave. Why, in NOLA would you want one, unless for a baby. I kept my wine cool in an extra bag of ice provided by hotel. Whatever you need, they’ll bend over backwards to make you happy. Yes, water pressure/​drainage @ the sink can vary from room to room but not drastically & the air conditioning in ANY room I’ve ever had worked just fine. Too fine. Hubby kept it freezing. And there are ceiling fans. I had to turn ours off.
Ice, vending machines on 2^nd floor. It’s a fairly basic, nicely located hotel. As another Unilocaler so aptly said, it’s safe, quite (all considered) & clean. On Conti, less than one block off Bourbon. Parking is out back, through the carriage way. Hotel on one side, Café Conti across carriage way on the other, the newly renovated Bombay Club down the carriage way, which hubby noticed while smoking his cigars was being patronized by locals & tourists not from our hotel. I believe I saw a limited room service menu from the café in our second room*, but don’t hold me to it.
Estimated, 10 – 12 blocks from Esplanade Ave., since Faubourg Marigny has become so popular.
I can’t testify for anyone but myself. They have always been completely lenient about check in, check out times. The subject just never comes up.
The hotel is showing some wear & tear. And I must say our first room this trip was anything but sound proof. Not street noise, which I’ve never heard there, but the room next door. (As another reviewer said, it’s not new construction). I say «first room”* as we were stuck do to storm system Goliath. Once it was clear we were going nowhere I called Conti & they let us return, to a different room. They were so nice, & hubby said there was a wait list when we left 2 days later.
We find the staff unparalleled in every way.

We stayed here for two nights. When we first checked in, we thought the hotel was well maintained although it’s an old hotel. However, when we laid down on the bed, we noticed how dirty the room was… everything in the room was so dusty– see the photos.

Location is the only thing that the Prince Conti has going for it. We stayed here for 2 nights and had our power go out twice! We also had $ 40 stolen out of a zipped toiletry bag that was inside our suitcase! The hotel is very outdated and could use some renovations. They charge $ 30 per day to park a vehicle. There are plenty of much better hotels in walking distance from Bourbon Street. Stay somewhere else.

Cannot beat the location. Right off Bourbon, a few blocks from Canal (easy access to all the street cars). Only problem with location is that it IS close to Bourbon, so if drive around much it is big pain. We left the car parked the whole trip and got ‘jazzy’ passes for unlimited streetcar use (and buses if you choose).
The room was adequate. Dated, need some updating. They were repairing things… As they began busting you up flooring close to our room… A little too early for the French Quarter!
Staff was good. Valet was only way to go there. It is expensive ($ 32/​day) as all cities, but some of self park can run you $ 50/​day. So not bad.
Keep in mind the room rate doesn’t include a myriad of tax and then Room tax and whatever else they tack on.
You get cheaper rates online through their website… They can’t or won’t match them.
Overall, place was secure and safe, and even somewhat quiet.
At the rate paid, there are some b&b’s that are better, but this will do in pinch.
The breakfast in the restaurant downstairs was best I had anywhere (get the crepes).
The Bombay bar downstairs has great prices during happy hour.

The Prince Conti is a traditional New Orleans French Quarter hotel. It is clean, safe and relatively quiet despite being 100′ from the insane crowds and party atmosphere of Bourbon Street.
The highlights for me are the amazing staff, the location and the attached food and bar options. In a city renowned for hospitality the Prince Conti staff is top notch. Lenny in reservations is particularly impressive and accommodating. This is a rare spot where you can reserve specific rooms or suites. The average rooms are small with antique style furniture and older air conditioning equipment. You will hear street noise and other guests because it’s not modern high rise construction and you are in a big city. But the beds are comfy and the linens are above average for this moderate price level. The bathrooms are small but adequate.
The Conti Café is an amazing breakfast spot. Handcrafted coffee drinks and delicious Benedicts.
The Bombay Club has $ 5 nightly drink specials and thus included some amazing feats of mixology. They also have $ 3 food on happy hour.
The prince is not the crown jewel of NOLA, however it is a great choice to save coin and be close to the action. In a city like this you are an idiot if you spend too much time in your hotel anyway!

This place was fantastic! Especially for the price! Lisa was very helpful and friendly with all sorts of advice and I felt very satisfied with her service! The very nice lady on shift right as we got there was also kind and helpful but I forgot her name:-(it was Miss, and then I can’t remember:-(The bell guys were great as well so they get a shout out. The rooms were very comfortable and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling there. Nothing about this place made me fee I was in a bad spot. I am alway worried about bedbugs when traveling to highly trafficked areas and I didn’t feel like that was a worry at all. Did I mention the staff was great?! The location couldn’t be beat and even though the don’t have balconies the view from our window was terrific! I’ll be back for sure!

Just stayed at the prince conti hotel. It is in a great location and the area is safe. Those are all the pluses i can manage. Our particular room had 2 queen beds and was very small. The bath, though clean, was tiny! My son actually hit his head on the sink pulling up his shorts getting off the toilet, which was pretty funny. When i opened the curtains to see our street view, what i saw the parking lot and a filthy window with a cracked pane and the wood on the window was full of mold. They also have very cheap linens on the bed. The bottom line is the place is in desperate need of a sprucing up. So if you are not allergic to mold and you don’t mind paying almost 300 a night for a shabby room, you too can stay at the prince!

This was my fourth year staying at the Prince Conti Hotel for a week during Southern Decadence however it was my last. Although it is located just off Bourbon Street and in New Orleans it’s definitely about the location. However this is one location that you should definitely AVOID. On a daily basis I had to have my room key reprogrammed because it wouldn’t open my door. Male night desk clerk told me one night that I must be doing something wrong and told me I would just have to wait till the computer came back up, when I informed him I wouldn’t I told him I knew there had to be a master key he sent security up with me, without the key and when the guard could not open my room with my key he went back and returned with master key and opened my room. The A/​C in my room was obviously not working would not cool below 80 daytime hours (outdoor conditions were 80 – 90 and humidity levels normal for area) after being told that it was fine I took a look at the filters and they were so badly blocked wit ½−¾ inch of dirt and grime. The TV in the room was made in 1991 and even with the cable connection only 6 channels were receivable and the picture quality were reminiscent of the early 70’s and rabbit ears. And this was a deluxe king room. The hotel has only one extremely slow elevator with no accessible stairs There is also an enormous amount of deferred maintenance that has allowed to build up and is relatively easy to see without looking very hard. Although the rate was decent I would consider it to be pricey considering condition and lack of amenities.

This hotel is an absolute joke!!! The staff is rude, the rooms for the price are mediocre at best and they charge an additional 31 $ to use their parking lot.
Really??? 31 dollars to park at a place you are already over paying for!!! I will never return to this hotel again. Actually I’ll probably never return to New Orleans again.

I stayed in one of the suites with my mom and 3 of her best friends (5 people total). The room was perfect for us! We really enjoyed our stay here.
The Prince Conti (pronounced con-​tie in case you’re wondering) is located 2 blocks away from Bourbon St. It’s locations was very convent to everything we wanted to do.
As for the room, it had to full beds and a pull out couch. The beds were comfy however as the youngest I was left with the couch. I have to say I slept very well! The size of the room was just right for us.
The staff was so friendly! Ava at the front desk was a riot and she really took care of us. But everyone was so kind and helpful. This place has valet parking for $ 30 dollars a night. We went for it just to have peace of mind that our car was safe.
I only have 2 bad things to say about this place. First the AC was not powerful enough. I wasn’t exactly hot but I usually expect a more powerful unit at hotels. It was like a normal thermometer. Second, the outlets. Being 2015 and needing an outlet to charge your different devices this is crucial to me. There were 5 in our room but only half of them worked.
All in all it was a great stay. We loved it and I would definitely come back!

You want to visit New Orleans, be close to the action, but maybe you have kids, so you don’t want to be TOO close to the action, this is a solid bet. Our room was just the right size, the bathroom efficient, and it was pretty quiet at night. Beds were comfortable, pillows were legit. Air conditioning worked excellent, and that’s important on 95 degree days. We were in bed by 9 or 10 each night. I do remember hearing some cheering and high revving of a motor at one point, but it seemed distant.
It’s a block from Bourbon Street. A bit of a walk to the river, but walking is our thing, even in hot weather. Café Conti is a great breakfast option, and it’s right next door/​in the same building as the hotel, but that’s another review. We ate there both mornings, so I can’t tell you what other options were available, although it being New Orleans, I’d guess there are plenty.
Great staff, helpful and attentive. If you forget a toothbrush, you can walk a block down to the Compac. A great old building that’s been taken care of. We will likely come here again if we stay in New Orleans.

I guess it pays to get your name out there! At the Louisiana Welcome Center, they have hotel flyers and this one looked really cute and the price on it was pretty good! That was about as good as it got, as you will find out in my review.
I called to see about the rate and got a quote, and was told there was a parking fee. I did not know is was by valet only. It cost $ 28 per car per night. And if that weren’t enough, there was a $ 3.36 Parking Sales Tax added. Ouch! Since there are only meters nearby and out on the street where it might not be very safe, there really is no suitable alternative. Trust me, there are people milling on the streets all night long, even when it isn’t Mardi Gras time! Plus, when you tip the valet to take care of your car and to retrieve it, it all adds up!
So, we arrived to the hotel and checked-​in. It went smoothly enough. I do remember that we got the AAA discount rate initially, but then she saw the flyer for the hotel I had in my hand and gave me a slightly lower rate. It still wasn’t what the flyer said it would be, but I didn’t argue.
As for the lobby, it was small. There was room for just one person behind the «front desk». At the other end of the room, there is a small table and 2 chairs in what looks like a study area.

There was a cute full length mirror on a stand, but the mirror portion wanted to swing almost to horizontal. We used the wall to somewhat hold it in place.
The thing that stood out about the room was the skylight. It was pretty cool to see the moon while lying in the bed. Don’t forget to use the pole with a hook to pull the shade or the morning light will shine brightly down on you!
As you can see from the picture, the paint is cracked up in the nook and needs to be repaired.
There is a desk & a chair. If you were actually working with a laptop and needed some space, you would have to clear off the cups & ice bucket, and the coffee maker & mugs. Just not enough room otherwise.
The bathroom sink was not really sufficient since it just was a sink with no counter. There’s a glass shelf above the sink, so we made do and put a few things on it.
The room does not come with a mini-​fridge nor a microwave. They don’t have any available room for those items, anyways. But, it is a feature which comes in handy when you are travelling.
This hotel served its’ purpose. We walked to the river and to Café du Monde and around the French Quarter. I will more than likely choose another hotel next time, if we come back to New Orleans!
