5 Napkin Burger

Went here with my friends and ordered a veggie burger and they send out a regular ass burger. after having to wait mad long for them to make me another veggie burger, boy did I regret it. it was like biting into sand, it was packed with weird bits of coarsely chopped seeds and veggies and was dryer than the sahara in the middle of summer.

So not worth a trip here! Overrated and undeserving. Greasy food should taste good, this was far short of that. Customer service was also slacking. Very disappointed.

I adore this restaurant. The ambience has a fancy burger joint feel to it. Even though it’s in Hell’s Kitchen really close to Times Square it’s not a complete tourist trap but depending on when you go you may have a short wait for a table. The food and service is always consistent no matter the volume and that is very important. I ordered the calamari and my fiancé ordered hot wings for our appetizers. Just a warning these dishes are on the spicy side. It’s full of flavor but it is spicy. For my entrée I ordered the tuna burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The tuna was so moist and just melted in my mouth. I really enjoyed it. While I was dining I also enjoyed a few of the house cocktails called velvet mule. They were delicious and had a nice little punch to it! Of course I will be back.

Hmm, this is a tough one — to start off, I would have liked to give them 3.5 stars but decided to «vote up» because:
a. I’m a heck of a guy. And that’s not me being vain — that based on my Mom’s opinion of me.
b. I wanted it to be better than it was and I’m hoping that a return visit will put it there. But if not, it’s totally on you 5 Napkin!
So, because I’m awesome, I ordered the Chicken & Waffles for lunch.
Here’s the dealio:
The Good:
1. Great Presentation & interesting, eclectic menu
2. 4(!) pieces of chicken
3. A big, fluffy Belgian waffle underneath
4. Food came pretty quickly despite a big crowd
5. Three of the 4 pieces of chicken were 100% white meat with a crunchy, tasty, not greasy coating (the 4^th was a small drumstick)
The Not So Good
1. The syrup for the waffle had a strange «film» on it.
2. One of my tablemates noticed if too and was all «ugh, what’s that?!?». Not appetizing, but it pulled it out and tossed it aside, opting to ignore it & soldier on.
3. The syrup looked good otherwise but tasted MAD weird! Like it had something chemical in it. Granted, it’s listed as «Maple Bourbon», which sounds tasty but nope, it ain’t. Tried to eat that fluffy waffle but quit after less than half.
4. Service was not smashing. I had to ask three different times to have my water glass filled (which was all I was drinking) and we saw our waitress standing 10 feet away from our table and her service area, with her back to all of our tables, staring at the other side of the rest. for approx. 5 minutes. I know, first world problems, but still, I was thirsty!
Like I said, I wanted this to be better and will try it again. Hopefully it will be!

Great food and great service! I love the Union Square location and this one is just as great. My go to spot in the Times Square area! Yummy, fresh burgers and fries and delicious cocktails all at reasonable prices. FYI: This place gets pretty crowded late night and they don’t offer the Happy Hour deals offered at Union Square. Otherwise if you’re looking for delicious burgers, sushi and salads this place is a hit. The Asiago Turkey Burger is my personal fave along with the salmon and tobiko roll

5Napkin es un restaurant de hamburguesas, pero no tipo fast food sino con mantel, servilleta de tela y cubiertos de metal. O sea, full service. Tiene ademas de hamburguesas, tacos mexicanos y otros platos, no muchos más. La hamburguesa muy sabrosa, era chica de diametro pero alta en grosor. Las papas muy ricas, caseras, cortadas finitas vinieron crocantes y bien calientes. Lo que me llamó la atención es lo rápido que vino el pedido, evidentemente una hamburguesa tan gruesa lleva tiempo y ya la tenían lista. El tema es que nada estuvo mal, pero es caro. Hay que ver si se justifica pagar 30 dolares por persona (con bebida y postre) para una hamburguesa. El lugar es muy lindo, muy agradable y la atencion es muy amable, hay que ver si, repito, uno justifica ese gasto.

I came here with my boyfriend on a friday night when we couldn’t figure out where or what to eat. The hostess greeted us pretty much right away and gave us one of those buzzer things (soo convenient bc it was packed). We got some drinks at the bar while we waited. Drinks were standard, i was satisfied.
To eat we shared an order of chicken wings as an appetier. They weren’t very good. Ive had much better and wouldnt recommend ordering them. Very stringy and not enough crunch. But letz be honest, i didnt come to 5 napkin burger for wings… So shame on me for ordering them.
I got the avocado ranch burger cooked medium rare. This burger is absolute perfection. Limey guac and creamy ranch on top of a burger is like a genius combination. French fries came out hot and were well salted and crispy. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Better than bare burger and umami IMO. I will definitely be back to try more of their burgers!

Went for lunch yesterday, and was very pleased with our food. I had the avocado ranch burger and subbed the beef burger for their very delicious veggie burger. The taste was amazing and it paired nicely with the French fries that came with it. It could have been hotter, however, but other than that, it was really tasty and I wouldn’t mind eating it again.
I have 3 negatives about my visit. The bathrooms were not very clean. That’s a huge negative for me. Another negative was that the part of the restaurant that we were seated in smelled of dirty mop-​bucket water. It was a very busy Sunday morning so there was a lot of people waiting to be seated, and there was no real area for them to wait. I felt like they were right on top of us for the duration of our meal.
Based on just food, I would have given more stars, because it really was very good. But, the atmosphere left a lot to be desired.

It was open late and served burgers, that’s what the kids wanted. Unfortunately, it was a bit overpriced, assuming since its NY and Times Square. I would be ok the cost but the food was just ok. I’ve had better.

The service started out great until we finished our burgers and declined any dessert or coffee. At that point, it’s usually self explanatory to drop the check. In this case, we waited patiently for 30+ minutes without receiving our check. I finally got up to ask the hostess to ask our server to drop the check. When he did, he seemed kind of annoyed and said, «I hear you wanted your check.» Um, yes sir, that’s normally what happens when people are finished eating. I didn’t understand why we were receiving attitude about it.
Anyway, the fries were excellent, the PTF burger was delicious. I was stuck between that and the onion burger and I went with the onion. I regretted my choice because my boyfriend’s PTF burger was MUCH better than mine. I didn’t really even like my burger and I would not order it again. It was made properly so I do not hold this against the restaurant. It’s just one of those things that «now I know.»
They have Coke products! This is always a plus for me. Everywhere else we went to in NY has Pepsi. Gross!
They have a double sink outside of the bathrooms which is always nice when you are just looking to wash your hands.
The atmosphere was cool. We loved the Christmas ornaments hanging all around.
We would return if given the opportunity.

Four hungry women walking the streets of nyc… after taping the Meredith Vierra show at nbc… Where to eat??? Five napkin burger was a perfect pick two juicy 5 napkin burgers cooked to perfection and two scrumptious turkey burgers., fries yes and onion rings too… We’ll diet tomorrow!
Great restaurant choice and we got to penn station in time to catch our train!

The veggie burger is truly awesome!!! Cocktails are gigantic and service is okay.
Only downside is their fries — they SUCK.

Service was fine, food was much better; the fried pickles and pastrami was a great start for a fantastic burger, and the fish tacos are real good as well. They rave about their shakes… I’d never do such a thing; the vanilla shake was more or less vanilla bean ice-​cream in a metal cup.

So I downloaded the 5Napkin app strictly for the $ 5 off deal they advertised via their e-​list, then was charged the full amount the next day, then MyCheck took its sweet time rectifying the situation, so I’d say that’s probably not worth your time. Also, I walked in to be directed to the host stand, who directed me to the bartender, who directed me to the floor manager, who insisted their app didn’t work a certain way (it sure does allow future orders, but you not having mine ready is a different story… Call me tough, but friendliness doesn’t always compensate for incompetence)
Ultimately the 7 LAYER BLACKOUT CAKE was really underwhelming, albeit more fairly priced for its size than most at $ 7+tax.

We went here because a) we wanted burgers and b) it was close to our hotel. Didn’t realize at the time that there were no prices on the menu… later realized why haha. A little over-​priced just like everything in the Times Square area.
BUT our server was friendly, funny and really took care of my gluten allergy. The food was delicious — no complaints there. I had the Avocado Ranch burger with the gluten-​free fries. My favourite thing though was the Mint Blueberry Lemonade. It was to die for! I can’t wait to try making this at home.

Excelente lugar. El precio, la comida el servicio fue muy bueno. La hamburguesa que pedí esta muy rica el término de la carne perfecto muy jugosa. Tienen que probar el Hummus. Mi mesera fue Tenzik y fue muy muy buena. Lo recomiendo.

Als Vegetarier kann man hier beruhigt mit einem Fleischfresser Burger essen gehen! War wirklich ein richtig richtig gutes essen sowohl veggie als auch mit Fleisch;)

We randomly walked in here for dinner because it looked good and we saw coffee. I ordered the Turkey Burger and cheese tots but after seeing the Original 5 Napkin burger I had major plate envy so I split mine with a friend and was able to try both. Definitely get the original! Turkey Burger was spicy and the meat bland. Wouldn’t order again. Both were very juicy and we’ll cooked as ordered.
Drinks had imaginative names but weren’t visually good and rather ordinary tasting. I’ve had better. The Rum Swizzle and the Roasted Pinapple Margarita. Both were just okay to me. I’d recommend the burgers for sure, though pricey, it is quality. Cheese tots were good but I wanted more cheesy.

The burgers here are pretty pricy but they are also really good, if you order them appropriately. I had the original 5 napkin burger initially with the rosemary aioli and I could barely eat it. Normally, when I think aioli, I imagine a light or even manageable coating of sauce that may even already be cooked into the meat. But man, with this burger, it was just a giant blob. It gave the burger a gross, slimy covering and it masked the rest of its components. It tasted like nothing and I had no interest in having more after the first bite.
I told the waiter and asked if they could prepare one with the sauce on the side instead. That burger was great, and I didn’t end up using any of the sauce… I guess thoughts of the first burger lingered. But, now I could actually taste the meat, onions, and gruyère, which is always a great combo. So if you get the original 5 napkin, ask for the aioli on the side, or
potentially not at all. Oh, also the french fries are good but not great, a bit on the salty side.

My fiancé and I visited 5 Napkin Burger last Saturday at around 6:30. Considering the restaurant’s location, that was probably the worst time to go because it was PACKED. I was actually quite overwhelmed by the amount of chaos I encountered; because the restaurant doesn’t have much of a waiting area, there were groups of people waiting in both the front and the back of the restaurant. We waited outside for a bit and then chose to wait by the bar because of the cold. Waiting by the bar was actually quite awkward because of how many people there were. It felt like we were encroaching on the diners seated near us. Luckily the wait was only about 15 minutes.
We were then seated towards the back in a very awkward location; I was basically stuffed between a giant pillar and the table next to me, very much so to the displeasure of the diner I was seated next to. It was way too tight; there probably shouldn’t be a table there at all. It was also close enough to the back door that we felt every draft whenever the door opened. I almost requested another seat but the place was so crowded I figured it probably wasn’t a good idea.
We waited about 10 minutes to be greeted by our waiter. While we waited, we were quite annoyed to see a table of about 5 that had been seated minutes after us be immediately given glasses of water. Meanwhile, we actually had to stop the guy to request that some water be brought to us, also.
Once our waiter arrived and our order was taken, things went a lot more smoothly. The crowd dissipated a bit and we didn’t have to wait long at all to receive our food. My fiancé ordered the veggie burger while I had the ahi tuna burger. Both were absolutely delicious. The tuna was juicy and flaky, and the wasabi mayo and panko crusted onion rings rounded it out nicely. I was somewhat jealous though of my fiancé’s veggie burger. They aren’t lying when they say they have one of the best veggie burgers in the city. Both burgers came with shoestring fries which were pretty okay. Most of my serving consisted of burned edges, unfortunately.
For drinks I originally ordered the roasted pineapple margarita, but they ran out of one of the ingredients so I settled for the spicy garden paloma. While it was good it wasn’t as spicy as I expected it to be. It was still very well made; they definitely didn’t skimp on the liquor.
While I really enjoyed the food, the crowding, my awkward seating, and being overlooked in the beginning was pretty annoying. However, I definitely want to go back at a less busy time and try again. I suspect that things are much better when it isn’t as crowded.

The goal of the day was to go to the Natural History Museum. However, due to traffic and lack of parking coming from Jersey, we did not make it on time and were left to venture the Big Apple. My bf used to live near the area and always wanted to try this place so that’s why we chose this place out of all the other 3+ star restaurants in the area.
The story was, you will need 5 napkins to finish a burger here bc they’re just oh-​so juicy. Funny thing though, we had zero napkins at the table…
Service was great, drinks were appropriately priced and not watered down. We started off with the Southwestern sushi roll as our appetizer b/​c we like to eat entrees as appetizers –_​– The rolls were very small and did not have much fish, the taste was average. I honestly don’t think it was worth the $ 16.
BUT, i had the best veggie burger ever! Not sure what was in the pattie (maybe beets, brown rice, carrots), the whole thing tasted woooonderful. However, it is my honest opinion that for $ 15/​veggie burger, avocado should be included. (we had to pay an additional $ 2 for it)
All in all a great experience, and I would definitely come back for the veggie burger IF they added avocado for the price!

The 2 of us made reservations for 7pm on Saturday night. Still about a 15 or so minute wait. It was really busy! I ordered the original (10 oz of ground chuck with Gruyère, caramelized onions and rosemary aioli) and sweet potato fries and my hubby got the bacon and cheddar burger with regular fries. His was «only» 8 oz.
The meal was tasty but I had to scrape off more than half the aioli before putting the top of the bun on the burger. No one needs that much mayo! But very glad it came with the top of the bun removed so that I had that option.
A very quick dinner and we were out of there in an hour. It was kind of cold since the door kept opening as it was so busy. Fun experience and a good meal. I enjoyed my burger and the fries were good too.

Ce restaurant est toujours pleins le midi.
les prix sont très corrects, comptez 13 $ le burger et 12 $ la salade.

Hamburguesería de moda, el local esta muy bien. Hay muchos turistas, tal como dicen algunos comentarios, pero el ambiente es bueno, muy de la city, por lo que esas referencias que algunos hacen de forma despectiva a la presencia de muchos turistas son reprobables (todos somos turistas en alguna ocasión). Nuestro camarero fue muy atento y la hamburguesas que pedimos eran buenas, de las mejores de New York. El brownie, espectacular.

Un veggie burger top avec son bun multigrain, par contre les frites un peu molles :-(en revanche, les onion rings étaient bien croustillants! Cocktail au concombre sympa également mais la serveuse s’est trompée dans la commande des cocktails et a mis longtemps a nous les apporter.

Bondé le soir, mais on patiente au bar 10 minutes avec une sorte de beeper qui vivre quand une table de libère.
On rejoint notre table dans un décor sympathisé de bistro old school mais branché.
On fait simple on commande le 5 napkin burger.
Une tuerie. J’ai adoré ce copieux hamburger. J’ai ajouté des frites et des onions rings, et je n’ai pas pu finir.
Les onions ring étaient bons mais les frites encore meilleures, surprenant (je suis exigeant en frites…).
Je n’ai pas pu prendre de dessert j’étais full.
Ha ou j’oubliais: si vous aimez manger dans le calme n’y allez pas.
Quoique, j’aime manger dans le calme mais pour un bon burger comme ça je peux faire un sacrifice.

Esta es una de las mejores hamburguesas que he probado en Nueva York. Pedí la «Original 5 Napkin», con cebolla caramelizada, aioli de romero, la carne buenísima, pan brioche y queso gruyère derretido. Esta es de esas que terminas necesitando 5 servilletas o más. Las papitas son deliciosas, buen servicio y mesas en terraza para ver gente pasar en Hell’s Kitchen, ¡el lunch perfecto!

Voilà un burger que j’ai apprécié à tous points de vue :
— la déco très new-​yorkaise avec une touché un peu bistrot à l’ancienne,
— le service efficace et souriant, à l’américaine, donc toujours au top pour un parisien
— des bières locales (Bronx beer en particulier) excellentes
— des burgers très bons avec quelques recettes un peu originales
Au niveau tarif ça reste raisonnable.
J’y suis allé deux fois c’est pour dire.

Hamburguesas muy buenas así como el acompañamiento, el camarero era muy servicial y amable, mi experiencia fue muy buena lo recomiendo.

Avis mitigé pour ce restaurant burger. L’ambiance, la déco, le service sont vraiment top, on passé un bon moment
Par contre les burgers né sont pas a tomber par terre, je m’attendais a mieux. Ce n’est pas mauvais, mais c’est banal.

Sehr lebhafter und nett gestalteter Laden. Allerdings recht laut — nichts für ein romantisches Date.

Wir waren zur frühen Mittagszeit bei 5 Napkin Burger, trotzdem war das Restaurant schon gut besucht. Wir haben einen der wenigen freien Plätze erhalten ohne Wartezeit.
Wer hier typische Fastfood-​Burger erwartet, der ist hier falsch. Das Fleisch scheint frisch zubereitet, die Brötchen haben nichts von den weichen Teilen gemeinsam, die es in den typischen Ketten gibt. Alles wirkte frisch und hochwertig.
Am Service gibt´s nichts zu meckern, alles okay und sehr schnell.
Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, hier wieder zu essen.

Hamburguesería con decoración de una típica carnicería, situada en pleno Hell’s Kitchen. Una carta bastante que mezcla sushi, ensaladas, carne a la barbacoa y hamburguesas. No sé cómo estaría el sushi, pero tenía una pinta estupenda. Yo me pedí la burger salad y estaba muy rica. Precio medio
