Allcraft Jewelry Supply

I’ve purchased items from Allcraft on several occasions over the phone… I’m in Denver… and they went out of their way to get me the best price. I bought a Pepe rolling mill, and the price was great and it arrived quickly.
Allcraft is recommended highly by Lexi Erickson, one of the artists who appears frequently on the cover of Lapidary Journal… when I took lessons from her, she said that Tevel was the most honest guy in the business. And I can tell you, there are some real winners out there (snarky comment).
Perhaps if you’re looking for a store to go in and shop, it might be a little different experience than you’re looking for. But if you shop online and find something that you’d like a better price on and quick service, you should give them a call.
And based on the other reviews, I’ve never been to the garment district, but the descriptions sound FASCINATING. I have a vision painted in my mind!

I’ve never been to Allcraft, but I’ve ordered from them for years both as a student, an artist and as a professor teaching silversmithing. I’m not surprised that you can’t browse the way you would at retail. Tevel is the best, good prices, good knowledge of the field, helpful advice. i give them 4 stars.

I would normally give this place 3.5 stars. It is on the second floor of a building and is an absolute mess inside this tiny place, but the guy and the other lady I have seen here are pretty knowledgeable. I usually have to wait a bit before they actually serve me as they are often on the phone, helping someone else. since everything can only be picked up by the workers here, you are unable to browse. I haven’t had problems with them. I was taking a class at 92Y and supposedly you get a discount but you don’t actually see this discount on your receipt so I think that it is discounted prior to writing the price on your receipt. Their hours are usual business hours and I don’t think they are open in the eves or weekends. They are also closed during Jewish holidays. I find the people here are more helpful than at Metalliferous though.

True this place is a bit disheveled and unsightly, but I’ve had the best experience with the fellow in the office. I find his prices to be the cheapest in town, and if they aren’t he’ll match the price (expect on metals, totally understandable.) They seem to have everything, even thought you’d never know it looking at the place. If they don’t have something, they’ll order it and have it in within a couple days. I came in to pick up an item that I was told would arrive Yesterday. Unfortunately it hadn’t come in yet today, but I got over a 15% discount on my purchase for the inconvience! Human error will happen from time to time… I appreciate a good business that will make it up to you when something does happen.
If you’re looking for a neatly organized selection, you’re better off ordering online. Any store that has a spacious showroom, will not be charging prices as LOW as All Craft. It’s best to go in with a list of what you specifically want. You will not be able to do much browsing. Don’t count on it. Also, be prepared to wait in line… Sometimes there is no line, sometimes you wait over 1 hour in line just to get into the warehouse space. The service is friendly, but has been know to be inefficient from time to time.
I still give 4 stars because they will match competitors prices, sometimes they’ll go even lower :)

This is the most fabulous store ever! They have everything I ever need, and if they are out, they can get it within 2 days. Lots of fun things I didn’t know I needed, just simply wanted. The knowledgable staff is helpful, and I promise are then most honest jewelry making people I have even met. The owner asked why I needed a certain tool, an then suggested another (which was less expensive, if you can believe that!),
They are courteous, and after a trip to some of the other jewelry supply stores, that was a most welcome change. Wonderful people, with integrity, and lower prices and lots of service. They have every bit of my business.

So I’m taking a jewelry class at the 92 Y, and I needed some additional items for my class. So I stopped into Allcraft, since I was in the area (see my review for Metalliferous for jewelry supply in the 40’s). There’s no browsing in the store and it’s very helpful to have a list, BUT the people there (only 2 so you might have to wait on a line) are super helpful and the prices are reasonable (the same if not a little cheaper than other places).
They have a lot of items in stock (various gage wire and sheet metal) and if you are a regular customer, they’ll even order specific items and quantities for you.
All in all a sucessful shopping experience for me in the jewelry supply arena.

Although it’s conveniently located near FIT, I’m not a fan of this place. I don’t like the fact that you can’t look around yourself and get an idea how much things are going to cost or even for inspiration. Also, the wait to get your stuff and pay are ridiculous. The staff is nice enough but it’s not worth it. I’d much rather go to Metalliferous where I can find what I want and also find things I wasn’t looking for :) The hours are also quite inconvenient.

No browsing is allowed in this store, and that is fine and dandy with me. If I tried to browse in here, I may not find my way out.
This is a small room located on the second floor of a building in the garment district. It looks like my grandpa’s old storage room, with shelves and shelves of boxes crammed with who-​knows-​what. I don’t know how they find anything in there, but they manage.
I just ventured into the jewelry world by taking a class at FIT. I presented the employees with my list of supplies for one class and off they went, digging through the boxes and finding all the stuff. This worked well for me, since I am new and had no idea what I was looking for. However, if I were a seasoned jewelry maker, I would probably be impatient and want to choose all my own supplies.
The employees were very nice, but I waited in line for about 20 minutes and then it took an additional 30 minutes for them to find my stuff, bag it, enter it into the computer, and check out. I think this store is great for its convenient location and selection of supplies (they had everything I needed except one thing), but I could see myself becoming very frustrated if I had to purchase supplies there often.

Located conveniently in the garment district, this is another place to purchase jewelrymaking and metalworking tools. If you thought Metalliferous is overwhelming, you are in for a shock! Allcraft is much more disheveled, with overflowing shelves, papers, and cardboard boxes piled everywhere. If there is some kind of order here, I’m not following. Another downside is that you can’t browse around yourself. You tell the employee what you want and they get it for you. For me that’s a turn-​off, as I enjoy a more interactive buying experience. While I did find a wax file here that Metalliferous didn’t have in stock, I would only recommend visiting Allcraft if you know specifically what you want.
