This place is amazing! Everyone that works there is so friendly and really cares about giving you great service! The gentleman who works at the front desk is so friendly and happy, I enjoy walking in just to say hi! And it’s very cozy and clean inside!

Ballet Slippers is a little more expensive than most nail places in the Murray Hill area, but you totally get what you pay for. It’s definitely a lot nicer and a more relaxing experience when you come here. I never have to wait more than a few minutes and my gel manicures will last up to 3 – 4 weeks. Also. can’t refuse an amazing 10 minute chair massage.

Great nail salon. Had a wonderful technician. Clean place. My toes still look great 3 weeks later. Would definitely go back when I am in town.

I loooove Ballet Slippers! I’ve been coming here for a year now since I moved to the neighborhood and will not go anywhere else. It’s clean and nicely decorated. The staff is well trained and so friendly. Nails normally last 10 days and pedicures a full month. The 10 minute chair massages are phenomenal. It’s slightly more pricey than the other shops in the neighborhood, but the quality and experience is well worth it!

Love this place and you never feel rushed. It’s clean clean clean.

Great service but awful manicure! Got cut while getting a manicure and started bleeding. The paint job also started chipping the next day. Had to completely take off my manicure in three days. For $ 13 I was expecting a better longer lasting manicure. I would not go back!

Much, much cleaner than Black Label, which was my usual place. The pedicure was decent and the manicure was good (two different people worked on me since it was getting late). Prices are about $ 8-​$ 10 higher than other places but it’s worth it here. It’s cleaner and feels more private.

My pedicure lasted over a month. My manicure however, lasted less than 24 hours… but that’s mostly my fault. I showered right after the manicure (ugh, bad planning) and it came off completely. I was so disappointed but I should have known better.
The atmosphere of this place is great. I will be back!

Clean, modern, friendly enough staff, not very clear on pricing until after I was finished.
Bought a spa pedicure and it was nice but not 100% sure it was worth the $ 61 that I paid. My feet only soaked in this special ‘bath’ they gave me for only about 60 seconds. if that. My feet were scrubbed to get the dead skin off but never smoothed so even though I didn’t have layers of dry skin, my feet were really rough. Not really worth the money that I paid for it. $ 61 was too much for what they offer for it. French tipped was really well done though so that’s always a treat. My toes looked great but I wish I could have sat and soaked longer and had smooth feet afterwards.

Great local place. Stopped in for a pedicure while working in NYC for a week. Ana did a great French pedicure and everyone was very attentive.

After an exhausting week and a couple of hours before a flight to Europe, the pedicure took off three quarters of the stress. Clean spa, friendly staff and super professional pedicure.

Great manicure place in Murray hill! Open 7 days a week. The prices are a little more than most but 13 for a manicure still worth it.
Only negative, they have a credit card minimum of 20, tips in cash only, but they have an ATM in the front of the store.
Nice selection of colors, new colors on front corner as well as the colors alphabetical so you can easily find the color you are looking for. They also have gel and 7 day polish as well.
Unlike other manicure places they have different employees who will give massages opposed to the manicurist. Def enjoyed the 10 minutes!

Amazing, Grace! I stumbled upon Ballet Slippers Spa Lounge, looking for a place to relax after a dentist appointment and before a long trip back home to Boston. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff at the front desk and directed to a massage chair where Grace gave me one of the best massages I have had in recent memory. She expertly worked each knot in my back and shoulders (my back has more knots than a sailor could tie), and constantly asked me for feedback on whether the pressure was satisfactory. It was just what I needed. I wish I had more time because I would have also gotten a manicure and pedicure. Will definitely stop in again the next time I’m in Murray Hill. Note that they only take cash tips, but there is an ATM in the doorway in case you come unprepared.

The women at the reception desk are always very gracious and the space is very large and seems well staffed but something is very «off» here. Unfortunately the service varies so much that I am unable to endorse the place.
I’ve been here four times with mixed results. One time the service was great. One time was just mediocre and twice have been worse than mediocre, i stopped the massage in the middle and paid half price — everything about it was awkward and uncomfortable. A one handed pinching session by a bored person facing the other direction is pretty much how i would describe it. They charge more than other places but give less.
The woman doing the pedicure was equally aloof. All times have been slightly disorganized /​disconcerting with an array of different staff members dropping in and out on you and no follow up from the primary staff person who delivered the service (to check in on you after you sit at the drying station for example)
wish it was consistently decent because the location is great. I will go back one more time and update.

My favorite nail salon in the city. I tried a bunch in the neighborhood and found ballet slippers to be a keeper the first time I walked in. They are the cleanest nail salon I’ve been to and consistently do a good job. I love the rewards system but wish you could check your own points.

If you want to spend $ 15 to have 3 of your cuticles ripped apart and bleeding by the tech that took a whopping 10 min to do my nails. Then this is the placce for you. Beautiful space but the quality of the manicure is seriously lacking. Also, be wary of the quick dry. It totally ruins the manicure.

Definitely the best manicure in Murray hill and one of my favorites in the whole city.
Always extremely clean! They use newly sanitized tools for every customer (taking them out of the pouch like the dental hygienist use).
Great selection of colors too. They also always have the newest trends in polish — gels, shellacs, week long polishes, etc

Such a scam. Seriously. I will never come back to this place again. The only reason why this is not a one star is because I think the nail technicians/​masseuses did a pretty good job. This review is not on the quality of the actual service received, but really just on the manager/​owner and his blatant failure to disclose his shoddy business practices.
My sister booked a reservation for my bridesmaids and I to have a relaxing pampering spa day with the girls before my wedding. We chose Ballet Slippers because the interior looked so modern and clean. All the mostly positive Unilocal reviews was a big plus too. In the days leading up our appointment, the owner called half a dozen times to confirm the number of guests and the exact package or service we were each receiving. It was already strange that a simple appointment to get our nails done would require that level of reassurance and confirmation, but we just shrugged it off as some type of precaution on their part that we wouldn’t leaving them hanging. The owner required a credit card to hold the reservation and told my sister that in case we didn’t show up for the reservation, they would charge half of the total amount due to the credit card. We were all planning to come anyway so I thought although it is strange to hold a credit card for this type of thing, it would be OK because we were all going to show up.
The problem came when we got to the salon. First of all, being kind of new at this type of thing (I don’t get my nails done that often) and the website offering a million and one different combinations of services that lacked layman descriptions, we booked what we thought we wanted at the time. Once we arrived I thought it would be acceptable to ask for details on the different types of services and based on our newfound knowledge of what each of the services were, we could change or alter our service as we saw fit. Boy was I wrong. We walked in and they told we had to get the exact service that we booked because that’s what they will charge us. One of my bridesmaids booked a mani/​pedi, but decided she didn’t want a pedi anymore and just get the mani and add a 30 minute massage. The 30 minute massage was more expensive than the pedi anyway so the lady said it was fine to change it. My other bridesmaid also booked a mani/​pedi, but decided she only wanted the mani. They said it was fine, no one objected, or said anything further. When we finished our service and was checking out, this is when we got robbed. The owner charged my bridesmaid who got the mani and massage the appropriate amount for the service received (he did not charge for the pedi that was replaced). For my bridesmaid who decided to just do the mani and not the pedi was told she needed to pay the total price for both ($ 38) because that’s what she originally booked. EVEN THOUGH SHE ONLY GOT THE MANI ($ 14). They pointed to a small sign at the check out desk on some «group rate policy» which states we owe the total amount for the service that we booked even if we didn’t receive all of it. I guess they make an exception if you spend MORE than what you originally booked, but when you spend less they STILL make you pay the full amount. That is really shady business practice right there. They did not disclose this at all during all the times they called to confirm the reservation. They simply said if we did not show up we would owe the total amount. This is complete BS because the salon was completely empty when we walked in. We could have just walked in and decided what we wanted then and there and only owe the amount of the service we received. What is the incentive to making an appointment then? It’s not like we got any special pricing on any of the services. If anything, we are making their life easier by notifying them when we would be coming. Instead they ripped us off and robbed us blind. It’s common knowledge that you pay for what you get. It’s a well known concept and it is practiced universally.
To be honest, I liked the service I received and I would consider returning and even recommending friends to come here because the environment is so relaxing and calming. I got the $ 100 «Let’s Go to Ballet Slippers» Package (spa pedi, gel mani, & 20 min chair massage) and I felt so pampered. But the fact that the owner/​manager can be so uptight and anal to impose such a ridiculous «group policy» just lost himself some customers. If you are going to come here, DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION. There is absolutely no wiggle room, flexibility, or common decency that is shown to you. They also recommend a whopping 20% gratuity on a huge sign near check out. If only you made the group policy sign half as large and disclosed it as prominently as you do the tip sign, you would be golden and I would have nothing to complain about. Way to go Ballet Slippers. What a money hungry establishment with zero morals.

After a year in the city, I think I finally found my new nail salon. They were super nice there and did a great job. I always get a shellac/​gel manicure and a regular pedicure. They were priced very similarly to what I paid back at my favorite salon in my hometown in Michigan, so I was happy about that. Warning: what I paid in MI is more than most people expect.
The first time I went, they did seem a little flustered when my friend and I first got there, but we came right when they opened so my guess is they were still preparing for the day. My nails look fabulous and my friend got a gel french manicure and it came out beautifully. One of the best I’ve seen in the city.
Each time that I’ve been back since I’ve had a great experience. I can usually get 3 weeks out if the gel manicure. That’s quality.
