Description

Specialties

I am a private teacher and coach in classical ballet, and have taught in New York since 1977. I have trained in every major ballet style, including Cecchetti, Vaganova, Balanchine, Russian, French, and English. I have also studied the teachers’ course of the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum through level 5.

My students include children (from age 9), teenagers, and adults at the beginner through intermediate levels; and advanced students who need to strengthen their basic training.

As a teacher, I aim to give my students what classes can’t: 60 or more minutes of my undivided attention in every lesson. This intensive approach has had huge positive effects in helping students do better in classes, auditions, rehearsals, and performances. I pay attention to the crucial details of technique that cannot be addressed in large group classes.

History

Established in 1977.

After I had trained in most of the schools in New York for over 10 years, I still had the feeling is wasn’t «getting it,» although by then I was dancing in the corps de ballet of a small company, the New Jersey Classic Ballet. Then I met my teacher, Byron Mitchell, and began private lessons with him. It was a new and wonderful experience. Within a year, I was made a soloist. I then became a principal with several small New York companies: Ballet Players, Ballet Concepts, Ballet Zsedenyi.

When I began to teach, I knew that private lessons would be the only was to give my students the best of everything I knew. I began my work as a private teacher, and have never looked back.
