We are an ONLINE bakery specializing in quality homestyle baked goods, including gourmet cookies, luscious layer cakes, custom cupcakes, moist fruit breads & loafs, homemade fudge, chewy blondies & brownies, decadent carmelita bars, even homemade salted caramel sauce.

Our focus is on flavor. We don’t make cakes in the shape of pocketbooks or dinosaurs or fire engines — we just make cakes that taste awesome. Everything we make is custom-​made. All items are made fresh to order using only the finest natural ingredients: local whole milk, farm fresh eggs, unbleached flour, unsalted butter, 100% pure extracts, Belgian and other fine chocolates, select nuts, all natural dried fruits, premium cocoa powder, and freshly ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and other spices. We NEVER use preservatives or artificial flavors.

History

Established in 2009.

My real interest in baking began as a stagiaire/​chef instructor’s assistant at the Institute for Culinary Education here in NYC and the rest is history.

As a company, we started providing hospitality for a local community group back in 2005 and the buzz simply grew by word of mouth. The original website was a poor Craigslist lookalike and had no means by which to place an order. Now we have e-​commerce capability, pickup date selection, gift card redemption, and we accept major credit cards. We’re constantly trying new recipes, updating the menu, and offering seasonal specials. We hope to offer local delivery and shipping sometime in the near future.

Business Owner

Woody began his baking career at the Institute for Culinary Education as a Stagiaire and Chef Instructor’s Assistant in 2005. For three years, he ran a small at-​home baking business called Sweet Surrender Confections. During that time, he also volunteered at God’s Love We Deliver as a Kitchen Assistant in the Baking Dept. After leaving GLWD, he ventured out on his own and started what is now Big Daddy Cakery and in 2013 was issued a trademark by the US Patent & Trademark Office for the «Big Daddy Cakery» name and logo.

Woody holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York | University Center at Stony Brook. He speaks fluent English and Spanish, and pretty decent Italian.
