Went to this location for takeout. Food was absolutely terrible. Drove 30 mins each way and paid 70 dollars for dried and cold samosas. The worst lamb and chicken curry ever. Have been going to mid town location and love it. Manager Ahmed challenged me to dispute the charge and refused to refund money.

This was the best food I’ve had in Manhattan yet! Top-quality Indian food, great value, and pleasant ambiance, attentive service! I’m going back soon!

Loved the tandoori shrimp and naan here! The service was super efficient and friendly. The menu had a nice range of curries and proteins available. The prices are pretty reasonable too. The highlight of the meal was definitely the naan — but I fully admit I have a love affair with carbs and specifically love a naan. My friends ordered the curried goat and seemed to really enjoy it as well. Definitely worth checking out!

We were craving for Indian food and decided to give a try! The food is consistent, good and tasty. OK. We had the tikka masala, chicken korma and sesame naans. However, I would say there are other much better in Nyc

I have been here about 15 times. Each time we got superb food, friendly service, great drinks, and a large bill! The curries are some of the best in NYC. Overall this is a great place but you will pay for the experience.

Went here with a friend who loveeeess Indian food. The space is small, but the food was good. There are definitely better Indian places in town, but not a bad option for EV.

#Pretty solid lunch buffet. They have #arugula in the salad. I think that’s key. Makes it seem #fresh.

I’ve seen this restaurant featured on Man v. Food on the Travel Channel and a few other shows. My aunt and I have been talking about coming here for months. I was doing her a favor at her office by Union Square. We got here shortly after the buffet service was over which was fine. Complimentary papadum was given to us with the coriander chutney and a tamarind sauce that was surprisingly spicy. We ordered a vegetable samosa appetizer to share. It was served with a small salad of different sturdy greens, shredded carrots and shredded beets. The samosas also came with a mash of some sort of orange squash. Everything together was tasty. They have different styles of Indian curry with their descriptions detailed in the menu I ordered the goan curry with goat and my aunt ordered the saag with tofu. They don’t have dal as a appetizer or side so my aunt asked for a half order of dal to go with her entrée. The appetizer took a bit longer than we expected but the surprise of the squash and salad explained why it took a bit long. When were done with our samosas we were asked if were ready for our entrees. Within 5 minutes, our entrees were served. My curry was medium heat level, not mild but definitely manageable for those that can handle some heat. For chile heads I suggest the vindaloo or dangerous phaal. The goat was mostly tender but did have some sinew. However, it was chewable. There were some dried whole leaves in the curry. They didn’t look like bay leaves but certainly didn’t seem edible. The curry sauce had layers of flavor, very complex. At first it didn’t seem like much food but those karahis(pots) hold more than you might expect. We each had about 1⁄3 left of our food. We asked to have the leftovers to go which they happily packaged in the kind of cardboard containers you get at Chinese takeout places. The price might be a little higher than some other Indian restaurants nearby but they have a full bar which usually raises prices a little more. The wait service was moderately spaced out. They serve chilled tap water in fancy looking bottles. Even though it was getting close to the time some people would go out for an early supper, the place did not get too full.

i am giving this 4 stars for the cost but the food was delicious and the staff was helpful and the ambiance and location were good. HOWEVER, be really careful of the curry challenge. i pride myself on my spicy skills & peppery prowess… but this challenge is intense and it hurts. who knew throwing up toxic peppers could actually burn your nose snot and ear/eye channels?! Well now you know, so don’t fuck around with this challenge. Be prepared. I threw up that crazy curry just as fast as it went down(seriously… I gave up after 20 minutes) and I am so happy I only burned the upper part of my body. Keep in mind, the unwritten rule is 30 mins from start to finish. Curry challenge pro tip #1: curry + paneer is your best bet. separate paneer from curry sauce, drink curry sauce within first 5 mins. then chow down on paneer. off set curry sauce«drinking» with alternating lassi and raita tastes. carbs will fill up you and slow you down, avoid the naan or rice until after you finish everything. Pro tip #2: throw it up, it’s going to shorten the pain and lessen the shock to your system. you win as long as you eat it all, if you throw up right after, you are still a winner! probably best to go home and relax the rest of the night(especially if you let the curry go through your lower body!!!) Pro tip #3: the way to win is a really robust training over a few weeks to build up your curry spice tolerance –or– don’t train and just get that shit into your system in 5 – 7 minutes and deal with the fall out later. Pro tip #4: eating curry caused my body to feel as if I was ridiculously sloppy drunk. I had no alcohol but my body was responding to an intense level of toxicity in my system. I really can’t stress enough to be prepared for this challenge. good luck curry warriors! xoxo

If you don’t feel like reading the whole review, it ends with there was raw chicken on the buffet. I told them about it(very nicely) and they still left it out for other guests to eat. Service was pretty non-existent. This was sometime around January 21 or 22, 2016. Here’s the full review: Jackson Diner on University is closed for biz, so I decided to give the LUNCHBUFFET here a try. The first few things I tried were all DELICIOUS… I was so excited to find such a fantastic Indian Buffet near me, I was also terrified that I would gain 50 lbs in the next few months from eating here everyday. My 2nd trip to the buffet, I decided to try the Tandoori Chicken. I bit into it and it was raw… not undercooked… raw. The meat was cooked about 2 mm in and the rest was pink and cold. I figured anyone can make a mistake, so I let the(completely uninterested) waiter know and nicely told him that I didn’t want anything else, but that he might want to let the kitchen know that the chicken isn’t cooked. Here’s where the 1 star comes in… no apology, clearly couldn’t care less and here’s the kicker. They left the chicken on the buffet. Any restaurant that leaves raw chicken out AFTER they’ve been told about it needs to be shut down.

I came here soley to try the vindaloo spicy challenge. This restaurant is in the trendiest spots in LES called Indian row. the smell of food wafts around the corner. leave your coats in the car! With the vindaloo challenge, you try their spiciest dish made with ghost peppers. you finish the place under 30 minutes you win a drink and certificate. Obviously only cared about the bragging rights. As soon as the food came, the smell of spice made me sweat. literally sweat, and i don’t sweat! I tried to continue after 3 spoonfuls and i couldn’t. No amount of water or naan was able to stop the burning of my mouth. I would come back to try other foods– my mouth was too much in pain to try other foods on the table.

Was thinking of a meal to grab in east village and decided to opt for Indian curry! Weekend lunch is $ 15 for all you can eat which is average for most Indian buffets. Price is certainly good. Let’s get into the food. I picked up the chicken tandoori, chicken tikka masala, mixed vegetable curry, and chicken biryani. The chicken tandoori was kind of hard and looked like it sat there for a while. The chicken tikka masala is always good. Creamy and slightly spicy. The veggie curry was very coconuty and enjoyable. The chicken biryani was also very good. Soft rice and herbaceous. I had about two platefuls… And was full. But… I couldn’t forget about the dessert… They had coconut flan and it was very good. Creamy, sweet, and with a coconut layer on the bottom. I had like two bowls of it. Overall, loved the buffet and at less than $ 20 for all you can eat and dessert, u can’t go wrong!

We have been here 15 times. More because my fiancé likes to burn his mouth and body and they have the vindaloo to kill a man. Tikka masala — sauce is full of flavor but their chicken is always overcooked and dry. Vindaloo is hot as hell if you like that do it. My dad came with us and couldn’t taste anything but heat. Naan bread — garlic tastes like whole cloves of garlic but the rosemary is delicious.

**Review based on buffet only** This will be my last update/review for Brick Lane… as I won’t be returning. Unfortunately, one of my favorite buffets in the city has turned into a total disappointment. Buffet is open until 4PM and I got there around 3:30(I was the only customer eating in the place the entire time I was there.) I should have asked to see the buffet before pulling the trigger, but instead I just sat down. As always, Brick Lane had a great variety of dishes on the buffet and good service, tragically, nothing tasted good. When I opened the steam tray and looked at the CTM I was kinda embarrassed for them that they saw it fit to serve such unappetizing food… overcooked, dark, crusty CTM(I thought maybe they would refill it, but no luck). It tasted way off and was just not good at all. On a positive note, all the food was hot. I was so hungry and I ate until I was full, not enjoying anything I was eating. I left unsatisfied and dispirited. This past year I have returned numerous times and every time I have been disappointed… so time to part ways.

I seriously contemplated doing the phaal challenge and following in the lumbering, painful footsteps of Adam Richman but decided to spare my stomach the trauma and just go for the lunch buffet. What a steal: $ 15 for all-you-can-eat naan, chicken tikka masala, dessert, and a mimosa or soda. It’s a nice alternative to the varied East Village brunch spots, and, best of all, there was absolutely no line to get in. Plus, if you’re like me and have zero self-control around Indian food, you will definitely eat enough to skip the next two meals. I thought Chola’s naan was better — fluffy, soaked in butter, and spotted with crispy charred spots. The naan at Brick Lane was a limper version, though it didn’t stop me from cramming down a few too many slices. My favorite out of the buffet selections was the chicken biryani with fried, crunchy onions, but I wish they removed the bones from the chicken first. I also made a shameful return trip(after they had brought out the check) for the refreshing, nutty rice kheer dessert — it reminded me of a cashew milkshake. Also, bonus points for letting me take some of the rice kheer to go in a takeout container without charging extra! NEXTTIME: more lunch buffet but maybe not for another few months while I wait for my body to recover.

Came here for some drinks and small bites with a friend! KZ, the bartender, is super great — relaxed, but has the«cool vibe» — she spoke to us for a good portion of the night and made us strong, delicious drinks. Shared some garlic and cheese naan, which was fluffy and hot, making it perfect for a bite in this cold weather. The shrimp appetizer(don’t remember the name, sorry!) was good as well — had a good kick to it, but accompanied with some other spices. Would love to come back and try their main entrees, but I’ll definitely be coming when KZ is working again!

Review is for the weekend lunch buffet $ 15. The buffet options are great and they even have some fresh lettuce and veggies to make a little salad. The food is super flavorful and served at the right temperature. Naan and water wait for you at your table while you make multiple trips to try everything! The staff is nice and keep track of clearing your plates in a pretty quick fashion. The biryani has huge pieces of chicken in it and the fish curry is a Nice light option. The food isn’t crazy spicy so if you need more a kick they can give you some hot sauce! Great lunch option and will be back when our Indian food hankering kicks in!

Brick Lane Curry House NY Manhattan East Village 12pm Monday 20th July 2015 Four Star I was the first person here for this All-you-can-eat Indian Buffet, which was only $ 13 including tax. It included Salad, Cauliflower, Soup, Rice, Roti, 5 Hot dishes, Masala Chai Tea, Dessert, soda, beer, and/or sangria. Everything looked fresh, smelled great, and tasted delicious. I had a beer-mosa. They give you Roti, a large water bottle, and a Tandoori chicken leg to start. The Pakoras were deep fried in chick pea battered. These little vegetable fritters were absolutely wonderful. The rice was soft. I stole all of the peas and carrots. Here are my guesses on what I think I ate: –Aloo Gobi contained soft potatoes and lentils stew. –Peeli Daal contained yellow lentils flavored with garlic and herbs. –Tofu Jalfrezi contained spiced tomato curry with stir-fried onions, bell peppers and tomatoes. –Chicken Goan contained a mix of green chilies, coconut, coriander and vinegar. –Tikka Masala or Chicken Tandoori had a very thick tomato cream sauce Everything was quite good. The Chicken Goan came on the bone which made it hard to eat. The Chicken Tikka was cut into large chunks, tender, and plentiful. I basically had three plates of this chicken with Rice and Flatbeard. For Dessert they had Gulab Jamun which is a lightly fried Milk Protein Dough and topped with simple syurp. The texture was weird but enjoyable, The service was not bad but not spectacular because its a lunch buffet. Next Time: the Spicy: Man v Food Phaal challenge
