The best — so helpful! I lost vision in my eye and went to them. Their optician worked tirelessly with me to balance out the vision in my remaining eye. I had my glasses back the next within two days! Beth and her people are so helpful and caring!

I Went to BVC for an eye test and glasses. The owner was extremely helpful. This place is the real deal. Best neighborhood eye care in the city, bar none. Customer service is outstanding, the glasses arrived in three days and the prices are awesome. My new go-​to spot for eye issues. Thanks BVC!

I have lived in the East Village for 33 years and I’m thrilled to have Block Vision Care in our neighborhood! I had an eye exam in Dec. 2014 from the doctor. She was professional, kind, friendly, and caring. The staff was extremely helpful in helping me pick out a frame for my reading glasses. I was so happy with my experience that I returned in March for another pair of glasses! Again I found the folks there professional, kind, caring, friendly and very helpful! I would highly recommend them! And I’m so glad that we have such a wonderful vision place in our neighborhood.

No reviews, almost. Well, it does seem this place doesn’t have any customers, so how would they get any reviews? And I sure do hope no one will ever set foot inside that horrible place, where kindness and service are not a part of the business agenda. These people are unprofessional, unkind. So much for supporting your local neighborhood stores, when they treat you like their enemy.
Long story short. Needed a new prescription for contacts. The place opened up just around the corner about a year ago, a part of the old pharmacy next door, which is supposedly great with customers. Got the appointment. They called a few days later saying ‘the doctor is in today’; they have a doctor in the store for exams Monday and Wednesday only. Went down there, met a grumpy doctor, maybe in his late 70’s. He didn’t know his way around the exam room, smaller than most closets. Knocked over things, dropped the contact from my eye on the table and didn’t clean it (he didn’t was his hands either), and seemed like whatever equipment was in the room was nothing he had ever seen before. Horrible exam, and I believe he was doing a bit of guessing as for the prescription. Gave me some different disposable lenses for me to try on — gave me THREE lenses, good for… a day AND a half. Told the lady at the front to either order these or my old ones (different prescription), which I could not try on, if I didn’t like them. They were awful, gave me a headache after a single day — neither strong enough or suited for my eyes. I then ordered the old brand, which I received after a few days. With the new prescription, they were even worse than the trial ones. After a week I complained. The female doctor, who was in that day, did a short re-​exam and sent me off with a smile and a set of trial lenses; when I got home, I saw they were the exact same that I had already bought. Wonder if she even looked at my file. Went back a few hours later, and the tone had changed. «Well, you told us what to order, how are we to know better?» Eeh, who runs a place where eye exams and contacts are sold? I was treated like I tricked them, or even that I was making fun of them. They obviously wanted to get rid of me, so the doctor mumbled to the lady at the front desk to order some new trial lenses. And to make an appointment for me the following week. I showed up after a week, in time for the appointment, wondering why the trial lenses hadn’t arrived. Ooooh, sorry, without those the appointment is no good. No, obviously, so why didn’t you call me and tell me not to come in? The day after the lenses showed up, and I went in to pick them up. A day where no doctor is in. The stonefaced lady at the desk told me, there was no way I could have the lenses — I needed a new appointment before trying them on. What makes sense here? Trying the lenses before an appointment or being given them during an appointment and then having to schedule yet another one?

Need a vision test to renew your driver’s license via DMV’s Registry? Don’t even consider this place. They charge $ 50, while another business nearby charges only $ 10. Maybe they’re looking to fund an upgrading of their storefront? Or hey: maybe they’re looking to simply overcharge their customers? I’ll never know.
