Via MealPass I selected their vegetarian lo mein. I was expecting your run of the mill typical lo mein, but dang was I wrong! It was noticeably fresher and tastier than most takeout places I’ve been to. The inside is pretty plain but setup nicely with plenty of tables to sit at. My lo mein came nicely packaged in a plastic container and all the utensils I needed. Better yet, it was ready upon arrival and I left within less than a couple of minutes. I also love shiitake mushrooms and they were so dang good in the mix. Thumbs up, I now have another solid chinese place to hit up when I’m in the Chelsea area!

The food was absolutely fantastic. The location was convenient and the restaurant itself had an awesome vibe. Our waiter was great and answered all of our questions. Very very highly recommend this place.

Excellent food, but the quantity was a little less than what was expected.

Small, but quality Asian Fusion restaurant. I had the Sweet & Spicy Orange Beef, which was one of their specials. It was very well done because the flavors were cooked to the right amount. I told them I was not a fan of spicy and the waiter actually made sure they didn’t cook it too spicy for me. That was thoughtful and nice. Highly recommend!

Picked up Mealpass JUNE8, 2016 for their SPICYTHAIFRIEDRICE, which the lunch menu lists as THAIFRIEDRICE [$]12(chinese sausage, fried egg, fresh corn, peas, shallot), which is an absurd price for the portion, but it was certainly a pretty good lunch, even if a poached egg would’ve been a better topper.

This place is pretty good. The food is the highlight. Very weak service. Very small servings. But good inventive flavors. Oddly, they serve the shrimp dishes with the tails on. This obviously makes eating them extremely difficult and is incredibly irritating. None of the beef is severe with fur on it. None of the chicken has feathers. But the shrimp are only partially cleaned. Odd. Not sure what their rationale is. This place also seems to attract people who feel obligated to use chop sticks, despite the invention of forks and spoons. It’s painful to observe, but obviously people are free to try to impress whoever they want. Overall, though, a good restaurant. Very good food. Pretty weak servers and a few quirks in both the serving and the clientele.

Stumbled in to this place. Absolutely awesome. Best Hit and Sour Soup ever. Had the Thai Fried Fish(bass) and it was totally dope.

The food is so good here, that I want to put it on top of the list of places to go to if I ever get dumped by some heartless assholes. Gelato collection from il laboratorio del gelato. You know what to do. Tip: order the lamb dumplings and the drunken noodles.

A friend brought us here for dinner. I was quite happy he did. It is a small, narrow restaurant with a small bar at the front. We started off with a few appetizers for the table. The appetizers are small, so I recommend one per person. First up was the Chop Shop Slaw. It consists of napa cabbage, apple, radicchio and spicy garlic mayo. It was a nice twist on slaw. It had good flavor and a nice crisp texture. Next up was the Fried Chicken Lollipops. They are topped with rice flour, garlic chili sauce, lemongrass, lime leaf and brown sugar. These were also good. Not great, but worth trying. Last, but certainly not least, were the Braised Pork Belly Buns. They include hoisin, crushed peanut and pickled greens. This was certainly the best appetizer. The flavors and textures were great. You get three of them. For my meal I ordered the Thai Fried Rice. It comes with sausage and fried egg. The flavor was fantastic. I enjoyed every bite. I would strongly recommend giving it a try. The portion is a good size, especially if you tried some of the appetizers. We are not in New York often, but we will certainly be looking to eat hear again.

Pleasant atmosphere and nice décor. The chef was a bit heavy handed with ginger on the chicken dish and lime on the fish; both just felt overpowered with those particular flavors. The fish was also a little too dry though overall the dinner wasn’t bad. Thai rice was by far my favorite dish — loved it.

I’ll admit it: I was extremely wary when we walked into this place. In my experience, restaurants that serve multiple types of Asian cuisine are uniformly terrible. However, I’m always wrong, and I was wrong about Chop Shop. There was a big group of us, so we ordered just about everything on the menu, and I was pleasantly shocked by the quality. The pork buns, the spicy peanut noodles, dumplings of all kinds… the meal started out quite nicely. I particularly enjoyed the glazed eggplant and the spicy cucumber salad, as well as the risotto(a traditional Asian dish, as I’m sure you know). But I have to say that I’m all about the sweet and spicy Szechuan orange beef. I don’t know when I stopped ordering Orange Beef from Chinese restaurants, but I want to go back and smack that younger, stupider me. Then again, I doubt crappy takeout places come anywhere near the careful execution and depth of flavor that I got here. So if I have two pieces of advice: 1. Don’t ever listen to me. 2. Orange Beef. Do it. You’re probably all conflicted now. Well, I don’t care.

Ordered delivery since I leave next door basically. Not impressed at all. Food was nothing special at all. Very small portions and over priced.

Solid food with stellar service. Try the pork dumplings, drunken noodles, and papaya salad. Although I didn’t have any alcohol, the cocktails and wine selection are reasonably priced. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. My husband and I both enjoyed the experience and will be back!

From top to bottom, everything I ate was delicious. Luckily I was here with a large group, and we were able to sample a variety of Chop Shop II’s tasty offerings. Apps: Steamed pork buns, pan fried veggie dumplings, spring rolls and a plate of drunken noodles to share. Loved it all, but the buns were definitely standout. They usually are, so no surprise there! I also surprisingly liked the drunken noodle. Usually this dish is too spicy for me, but this had just the right amount of kick without being too harsh. Main: Crab fried rice. Can this be my last meal on earth? This was seriously some of the best crab fried rice I’ve had, with a very generous portion of crab meat in the dish. There were also a few platters of sautéed veggies floating around the table and I was really digging the eggplant. Sake: Lot’s of it. I normally don’t love the taste of sake, but whatever we had went down really smooth. The vibe is dark and cozy and the service is super amicable. Big bonus is that unlike some other pretty teeny places, they take reservations for a large party. They do offer a price fixe option for groups larger than 8, but we decided to just order on our own. Because this is close to my office and the path, I definitely hope to be back again soon!

Didn’t really get a sense of any real«fusion-y» flavors. Conversely, the Chinese dishes that we had were really well-done versions of the originals– only slightly modified to give them more mass appeal. Same with the Thai dishes. We had the pork buns which we really need to stop ordering because it never really stands out anymore(and this one didn’t). The best dishes we had were the 3-cups chicken and the spicy drunken noodles which were both absolutely wonderful. The flank steak was also really good, but I don’t think there’s a whole lot you can do with steak that makes it stand out. This one was prepared well. Service was good and the ambiance, dark, but cozy. All for pretty decent value. Oh, and the happy hour drinks didn’t disappoint either. We’ll be back…

Best food ever! We had such a fantastic meal, I cannot wait to go back! Everything was very fine and delicate. We started off with marvelous lamb dumplings in a peanut sauce and the pork belly baos. Both appetizers were great, I feel that the baos could have had a little more meat… We then shared the grilled beef with the side salad; the three mushrooms and chicken; and the shrimp lo mein! Yum yum yum! My favorite was the chicken dish, amazingly flavored with fresh garlic and ginger, I poured the rice In the leftover sauce when the dish was finished because I couldn’t get enough of it! The service was stellar, waiters are very attentive and on top of everything. I love the look of the place and the overall clean and modern feel of the restaurant!

I am literally BAFFLED by all the great reviews for this restaurant! I came to this place because it was close to my apt, had good reviews and I was craving Chinese food; I had high hopes and was extremely disappointed. The food was bland and not authentic. I don’t know how they can call any of it Asian food. It can’t even pass as Americanized Asian food. I had Lo mein… Which I don’t know how anyone can mess up, but I don’t even know what I was eating. I could have found better Lo mein in the frozen food aisle at Costco. My husband had the 3 cup chicken and mushroom which was equally disappointing… Once again, I could have gotten the same quality food at the frozen food aisle at my local grocery store. And to top off the horrible food… It was Outrageously priced for what it was. Like outrageous. OUTRAGEOUS.

Admittedly, I’ve never visited the original Chop Shop in Chelsea(a few avenues over, at 10th& W 25th St), but when I noticed that Chop Shop II had recently opened up in the Flatiron area, I knew I had to give it a try. A small, quiet venue with an exposed white brick wall and chalkboard, the Chop Shop’s sibling restaurant carries a casual vibe, but with an unassuming layer of sophistication. The prices definitely reflect those of an upscale place, but this is only discovered when the dishes arrive at the table and the tiny portions are revealed. For instance, my friend initially ordered the salmon fried rice; at $ 14, it is among the more expensive options listed on the menu, grouped with the rest of the entrees. In addition to the fish, the fried rice contained peas, fresh corn, thai basil, and scrambled egg. And yet, the plate was so small that she finished in less than five minutes and needed to request a second order with our waiter — this time, she tried the crab cakes($ 10). $ 24 later, my friend was still hungry, but her wallet wouldn’t allow her to ask for a third dish. My meal generated the same disappointment in response to the portion and price tag disparity. While the flavor was there, it just wasn’t enough for me to disregard these factors. I’d also like to mention the uncomfortably quick service we received. Even though the place was pretty empty throughout the course of our dinner, every stage of our meal felt rushed. Less than ten minutes after ordering, our food was already on the table. The second we finished eating, the plates were cleared and we were asked if we wanted dessert or the check. We appreciated the waiter’s attention, but the pace of the experience as a whole just wasn’t welcoming. I don’t have any complaints about the food itself, but with all factors considered, I’m not in any hurry to return to Chop Shop II.

Very comfy setting, close to office. Very nice spot for lunches and snacks. Speak easy. Drunk noodle and pork bun is decent. Thin noodles in spring roll make it really hard to eat — drops everywhere, be careful with that :)

Good bang for your buck! I had the Penang tofu vegetable curry and my friend had the cold spicy sesame noodles. The service was a little iffy, but our food was tasty and I was totally full after. Our entrees was only $ 12 and $ 10. I would return to try a bunch of the apps!
