Dr Cournot and her team have been a part of my dental health for over 25 years. I can’t imagine another practice that cares so personally about their patients. I think the most outward change since I’ve been under the care of Dr. Cournot and her team, is my smile. I notice it in every picture now. My smile stands out to me, not only because I love the way it looks but it’s in perfect harmony with the rest of my face. It’s so natural.
I remember the challenge Dr. Cournot faced when she began to treat me. The task was a great one. Dr. Cournot had to first figure out my original jaw position and then restore my teeth to their former height. I was constantly chipping my front teeth and cracking my back teeth because I had worn down my teeth from grinding and clenching them together while I was sleeping. My jaw was in constant pain because my bite was so uneven.
When treatment was completed, it all came together beautifully. Dr. Cournot has a keen eye for esthetics combined with an extensive training of how the teeth and jaw should function. I am no longer in pain nor do I chip and crack my teeth. The result has been life changing for me.
My treatment was also supported by a talented team which included Dr. Cournot’s partner, Dr. Jenny Lee, and their dental assistants Eileen, Illiana and Reina. Jennifer and Kim are the administrative dynamos who helped me schedule my visits.
Dentistry is very tough for me. These women were my rock as I went through this incredibly personal experience. There are no adequate words to express how cared for I felt throughout this journey.

Dr. Jenny Lee is far and away the best dentist I’ve ever been to… and I’ve seen many in her trade. Not only did she identify and perfectly (and painlessly) fix multiple cavities that were slightly hidden under my old fillings (and that my other dentists had no idea even existed), but she always made me feel comfortable and welcome in her amazingly warm and fun office. I actually look forward to going to see my dentist now, because of her and her exceptional team! Now that all of my cavities are taken care of, I’m considering eating jolly ranchers on the regular just so I can have an excuse to come by the office again :)

I can’t say enough good things about this office. Dr. Lee is not only an incredibly talented dentist, but such a caring person. I have struggled with serious TMJ for years, and she was the first dentist I encountered who empathized with my condition and made an effort to help in any way possible. The entire staff is kind, professional, and skilled; I can’t imagine there’s a better dental office out there!

Dr. Lee is the best! I was looking for a new dentist because the last one was telling my I had 13 cavities and needed to get them all fixed immediately and pay cash for it. Fortunately I was referred to Dr. Lee, and she is the best and the most ethical out there. I would recommend her for anyone. Everyone in her office really loves what they do. And I’m currently getting some dental work with her periodontist, Dr. Pastaglia, who is also exceptional in every way. Great office! You can’t do any better than this place!

Day 1 Comprehensive Exam
Dr. Lee is an exceptional dentist and has mastered her profession at such a young age. At first sight, she seems to be fresh out of college but after a brief introduction you realize that she is a well tenured professional. Her comprehensive exam is just that very comprehensive. As for her assistant Eileen, she is an incredible human being with a great big heart. She carefully and painstakingly took my x-​rays providing every comfort (She even gave me a stuffed monkey named George to hold). I would have never imagined getting such impeccable and thorough treatment at a dental office. As the exam continues, Dr. Lee draws your attention from the onset and takes away any preconceived notions or preexisting fears that you may have of dentistry. She begins her examination by carefully reviewing your dental and medical history with you and then proceeds to making assessments based on her findings. She carefully explains her findings with you allowing you every opportunity to participate in the process. Her approach to dental care is next to none and her persona is infectious. I can’t wait for my deep cleaning next week (I hope it doesn’t hurt).
Day 2 Deep Cleaning Part I
Today Dr. Lee will be performing a periodontal scaling on the right side of my mouth (which happens to be the side where most of the assiduous work will take place) and I am very nervous. She begins by explaining the nuances of the procedure and reminds me that I will be under local anesthetic. She pulls up my pictures that were taken at my first visit and explains in detail her course of action. Although there will be some discomfort, she reassures you that she will do her very best to prevent it. To be honest, the time went by so fast and I fell asleep without any discomfort. It’s a tribute to her attentiveness and diligence that I walked out of her office pain free. At the conclusion of the visit, she demonstrates the appropriate technique to floss and gave me alternatives to maintain healthy gums. She explains that my gums should be sore after the anesthetic wears off but not to worry it is not unusual. She considerately and quickly follows up my visit the next day with a call to see if I have any discomfort and would like to schedule the second part of my cleaning at my convenience. This is just another testament to her dedication to patient care.
Day 3 Deep Cleaning Part II
At my next visit, we will be scaling the left side of my mouth and at the conclusion we will discuss the detailed and comprehensive report she emailed me with her findings and recommendations (This was a very pleasant surprise). This procedure will be less intrusive and cumbersome than the first one due to the lack of work (I was extremely ecstatic to hear that). Once again, Dr. Lee pulls up my dental images and explains the volume of her work. The anesthetic is administered without any discomfort and she conscientiously begins the procedure. As previously, I fell asleep and woke up with minimal distress to my mouth. She concludes the visit with any questions I may have had from the report she emailed me (which I didn’t have any because the report was written so clearly and concisely) and then recommends a visit in 4 – 6 weeks to reevaluate the treatment. This visit is recommended to prevent any relapse or signs of degenerate disease. It was definitely a pleasure to have such an incredible caregiver such as her grace my teeth.
Conclusion
From my past experiences, I’ve noticed that other dentists would keep you in the dark and just make recommendations from assumptions. Dr. Lee does the opposite she meticulously evaluates your diagnosis and diligently plans several strategies with you to combat the problem. She provides a régime for you to follow and advises you to carefully adhere to her recommendations. Although she would love to see you again soon, it would be best for her to see you for periodic cleanings not emergency procedures. All in all, my dental experience with Dr. Lee has been incomparable and I never imagined learning so much about my dental health. I highly recommend Dr. Lee and I hope all of you make a concerted effort to make an appointment with her at your earliest convenience.

Dr Lee is amazing! I did not feel not scared of the dentist anymore. She’s so welcoming and what I loved was how she explained what she was doing to my teeth (in terms of the process). So my story goes where my gums were just horrible and I neglected them for just too much. The day I decided to go to the dentist was when I was talking to my coworker and he said Monica you’re teeth are bleeding. How embarassing. It’s just poor neglect to your body. Overall I felt like ahh I have to hide my mouth when talking to people. It just was awful.
My friend recommended me a great dentist spot and I went and that’s where I met Dr. Lee. I got a scaling done of my whole mouth in one sitting. I said just do it all. Do what you got to do! It was a lot of pain but so worth it. My teeth have not felt so great in a year I would say. After 3 months I went back to see Dr. Lee today to check my gums out and they are SO much better. Dr. Lee taught me how to brush my teeth again (funny how that sounds) which helped out a lot. So don’t be scared of the dentist! Dr. Lee is amazing has helped me out so much not from just helping my teeth but to also helping me gain my confidence back.

This place is great. Everyone is super nice and they really care about your teeth. But I can’t give it 5 stars because they don’t do insurance at all, thus restricting their practice to a relatively affluent crowd. Low-​income or less privileged folks, you’re out of luck, the hassle of paperwork is just too much work for them.
There is so much substandard dental care out there which makes this even more frustrating, and it would be nice if skilled practitioners of any medical/​dental field thought about who they are trying to serve.

It’s no surprise Dr. Lee is selected as one of ‘America’s Best Young Dentists.’ Her professionalism, friendliness and approach to dental health is unlike anything I have seen before. Dr. Lee really does an amazing job explaining what work needs to be done, what are the root causes of the problems you have and lays out all the treatment options. Dr. Lee’s approach is transformative — it redefines what a trip to the dentist should be (reason + experience). Dr. Lee didn’t just leave this positive impression on me. Even my wife and kids (7 and 11) had a great experience.

I have been a patient of Dr. Lee for over a year now and I will reiterate what everyone else is saying. I LOVE going to the dentist now. the entire office is warm and kind and unbelievably professional. they obviously are passionate about their work and their patient’s health. Dr. Lee understands that your dental health is related to the rest of your body and takes the time to learn about your overall physical and even mental health as stress and other factors effect your dental health. She doesn’t just treat problems she addresses the root of the issue, so that you cure and prevent. You would be hard pressed to find a more devoted and capable health care provider in New York.

I ENJOY my dental visits with Dr. Cournot. In addition to the fact that she is a true expert, gently, vocal, insightful, and a generally lovely person, Dr. Cournot enters the room and you feel as if you have been immediately wrapped in the most safe and soft blanket. Her bedside manner is something I have never experienced with any medical professional before (and I do have much experience with doc visits). I have never felt anything but completely safe and genuinely cared for when I enter the serene office.

I went to Dr. Lee yesterday mainly for my TMJ issue after reading a review from Unilocal.I’ve been to a few dentist/​orthodontist for my TMJ already, and so far, none have helped and I personally feel that none have spend enough time and energy to help me solve my issue. Dr. Lee was so thorough with my initial consultation. She asked me any and all questions that can possibility cause my TMJ. She is just great. The whole office staff was super friendly and kind. Obviously my TMJ issue have not been resolved yet since I just went in yesterday, but Dr. Lee gave me some instruction to follow until the next follow up. But I can definitely say that I am in good hands.

It is rare that I would call a visit to the dentist a pleasant experience, but it was a 5 star experience. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Lee, she is warm, highly informative, and extremely gently and concerned about her patients. The office is inviting and the staff is super kind and very friendly. I had the most comprehensive exam of my life (medical exams included)! I received a written report with pictures from my initial exam with follow up cleaning and future maintenance. So happy I finally went and feel assured that every nook and cranny of my mouth was examined for optimal health. My fear of going to the dentist has disappeared!

I have been seeing Dr. Lee for almost a year now. I recommend her to anyone. Dr. Lee takes the time to know her patients and genuinely cares about their dental health. Many other dentists are about one-​time fixes when it should be about ongoing care. Dr. Lee likes to do regular check ups and make sure that you stick with the recommended régime. I’ve seen her several times this year. I’ve had fillings and deep-​scale cleaning and every time she makes me feel comfortable. My gums are more healthy since seeing her. They don’t bleed as much. When she gives you anesthetic you don’t feel any pain at all. I never use to enjoy going to the dentist but I actually do now. Who knew going to the dentist would be such a pleasant experience. :)

I have been seeing Dr. Lee for the past 2 years for help with TMJ and teeth grinding and have to say she is practically a miracle worker. I have had TMJ for over 15 years and had ground my teeth down to the point where my enamel was worn off and I had intense pain in my jaw muscles on a daily basis. I have been to numerous TMJ specialists, oral surgeons and other dental professionals, but have never been able to find anyone who could give me relief from the pain I was experiencing. Over the years I have spent thousands of dollars on different types of bite plates, acupuncture, physical therapy and other treatments but nothing seemed to have more than temporary results.
Upon examining me, Dr. Lee determined that my bite was off, causing my jaw to not function properly. She was fairly sure the majority of my teeth needed to be lengthened, restoring them back to their original state (before they were ground down). Theoretically, doing this would allow my jaw to function more properly, hopefully relieving me of some of the pain. She made clear to tell me that this would not necessarily stop me from grinding but that she thought it would make me more comfortable during the day. Since this process would be very involved, she wanted to make sure this was the right course of action so she took multiple casts of my teeth and meticulously mounted them on an apparatus that mimicked my jaw movement. She created several models to use as a guide for how she would adjust my bite and change the shape of my teeth.
The work took several days to complete and the minute she was finished I felt instant relief. Altering my bite also amazingly corrected some neck pain I had been having for several years. I still grind my teeth and need to wear a bite plate at night but my pain during the day has been reduced from 90% to about 30% — a huge improvement. Also, Dr. Lee is a very talented in cosmetic dentistry as well. Aesthetically my teeth look amazing. I get compliments on them all the time.
I am so lucky to have found Dr. Lee. She has been a life-​saver for me and truly cares about her patients. Also, everyone else in the office (Dr. Cournot and all the dental assistants) is very friendly, helpful and good at what they do. If you are looking for a new dentist or to make a change, go see Dr. Lee. You won’t regret it!

So I haven’t been to a dentist in 17 years. I did however have my teeth cleaned by my sister 3 years ago while she was doing her residency (yes my sister is a dentist lol) so I am not totally disgusting.
Recently I had some tooth pain and decided to go to the dentist. I skipped through all these ads ($ 70 cleaning and xrays and groupon specials but decided against going to one of these franchise dentists. I have heard horror stories of dentists doing shoddy work and their patients paying for it later on. (one of the reasons I went was because one of my friends went to one of these hack dentists who told him everything was fine, 6 months later he has intense pain goes to a different dentist and boom 7 cavities and he needed 4 root canals.
I heard about Dr. Lee through some friends @ a local murray hill bar and decided to give her a try.
Day 1 Consultation
Very easy to schedule an appointment with Jen the receptionist. I had a consultation. I was told the consultation would last 2 hours. I wondered what we could talk about for 2 hours. Well Dr. Jenny Lee and her assistant (damn i feel bad i frogot her name because she was so nice) met me and went over my whole history.
She listened to everything i had to say and we spoke about my teeth care and then the xrays and exams started. Let me tell you her dental assistant was very gentle taking the pictures and xrays. Now mind you i have never seen xrays of my teeth before. She explained everything and even pointed out the trouble areas.
Day 2 Cleaning
So I had 17 years of plaque and calculus build up that Debbie had to take care of. When my sister did my cleaning it hurt like a mofo, Debbie was very gentle and she got everything cleared up. I wish I was able to keep my pictures to show u guys the before and after

I just attended a dental leadership retreat and met Dr. Cournot and her associate Dr. Lee there. Wow, all their patients are so blessed and fortunate to have such highly dedicated and highly skilled people who really care about their clients. Their extremely high level of expertise in advanced dentistry is admirable. Take it from me, I’m a dentist too and would love to be treated by them if I lived in the area. They’ll make sure you’re healthy and have the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted!

Dr. Colleen Cournot is the best dentist in all of NYC. That by the way is not just my experience, but everyone I know who has been to her, including a hygienist friend of mine who worked for many dentists in the area before she found Dr. Cournot, and said the ONLY one she trusts for her own dental care is Dr. Cournot.
I’ve been seeing her for over 15 years now and have sent MANY friends to her — most of whom are still her patients (except for the few who moved out of the area).
Their office is lovely. She and her staff (who have been with her now for YEARS, unlike other medical offices with a revolving door of assistants, etc.) treat patients with true care and respect. Jennifer, the friendly & fabulous receptionist sends my insurance claim in for me. Debra, the all-​star hygienist, never rushes a patient through. Eileen, who many years ago held my hand to try and help me relax because I was terrified that a 20 year old filling just fell out and had to be replaced. (The replacement didn’t hurt at all by the way — I’ve never been in pain in Dr. Cournot’s hands.)
They are true professionals and so passionate about what they do. I would highly recommend Dr. Cournot if you need a great dentist. ;)
