OH I THINKDINKIESCLOSED! It’s so sad bc it was such a GREAT place. Number not in service! I didn’t like the«dinkie» or the name of the place, but they had the freshest salad, best buttermilk battered chicken wings and mac n cheese triangles. So upset this place closed — I hope the owners reopen with just great food, a new name ditch those weird little dinkie balls(I tried hard to like them but they just weren’t great). RIP Dinkies!

So i was browsing around chinatown and i found this cute resto and was curious about it. I gave it a try! When i walked it, it wasn’t like crowded or anything which i kinda like. Sometimes too crowded makes u dizzy lol. Anyways, it was my first time coming in. I asked for their specialties. I ordered the strawberry dinkies, chocolate chip dinkies, and their savory ham and cheese dinkies. I couldn’t help it, i was starving. Lol. And for the drink i had their mango bubble tea! I love bubble teas. yes i do! Since the dinkies tasted delicious. My sister who is at home craving for some sweets, so i figured i ordered a few to bring back home with. I took home their ABC sweet dinkies mix(pretty much mix of their apple, banana, & chocolate chip dinkies) and just incase i’d be hungry for dinner time, i figured why not give it a try for their sampler and buffalo wontons! They were extremely delicious, and it was still warmed up too when i got home. Overall i am satisfied and for certain i will come back soon!!! P.S: juz to note. They have a minimum credit charge of $ 8.00 so if u planning to juz grab a quick smoothie or bubble tea, make sure u have some cash with u! Alrighty! Dinkies. STAYAWESOME!

Came here for the doughnut holes that are stuffed with filler. Every stoner’s dream. Genius. They have other stuff too, including TOTS. Yes, as in first name– tater Shared these orders: cinnamon, pb & j, & chocolate chip… light and airy when perfect amount of sweet stuffing… killed ‘em. Bathroom: Very Clean, Big and Unisex Wifi and it’s never been busy when i come here. Would comeback again.

Dinkies is a great place to go to if you want a quick, delicious snack. It was a quiet little shop when I stopped by, with a friendly staff waiting to help customers. Unfortunately I was not able to try the savory Dinkies, but I did enjoy the PB&J and caramel banana flavors. These bite-size pancake bites were super tasty and satisfying and would probably make great on-the-go snacks as well!

Came here for a late night snack/dessert. Got the chocolate chip dinkies and it was yummy. Wish I ordered more!

I am a huge fan of Dinkies… although I’ve never tried a dinkie. The first time I tried bubble tea was here and since then I have had about 6 different flavors of their bubble tea and never ordered bubble tea from anywhere else out of fear of disappointment. When you first walk in the décor is white and powder blue. which isn’t appealing to me at all but it is a bakery/dinkie café-ish place so I guess it’s okay and if you come with children they will LOVE it. I have eaten their chicken avocado salad, asian chicken crunch salad, macaroni and cheese triangles and buffalo wontons. Everything is delicious! Their salads are HUGE and they are generous with the portions in the sense that you won’t get a crap load if lettuce and«barely there» of the other ingredients. There is something here for everyone if you are in the area. You won’t be disappointed but it is a pretty pricey place.

Ok, so my kids and I stumbled into this place by accident and man oh man, was my tummy happy(although not my wallet so much) After walking up to the counter with my 3 kids to inquire as to what in God’s name a ‘dinkie’ was, we were told…‘its kinda like a pancake, but not a pancake. Its sorta like a muffin, but not a muffin. Its like a cupcake, but not really like a cupcake’ *4 blank stares* My 10 yr. old, who is always the adventurer pipes up ‘MOM. I. MUST. TRY. A. DINKIE!!!’ I think my kids were more impressed with saying the name then actually trying these pricey pan/cup/muf doo hickeys. Fine. Whatever. At least I can have a bubble tea. We order one order of Chocolate chip, I pay the $ 9 tab for one order of dinkies and a bubble tea and my kids sit down and start to sing the new ‘Dinkie Jingle’ they have just made up. «Diiiiiiiinkiiiiiies, Diiiiiiiiiinkiiiiiies» Finally they guy comes over and places the cute little plate topped with whipped cream in front of my increasingly annoying, impatient children. A moment of silence, followed by wide eyes and ‘oooohs and ahhhhhs’ and my children dig in. Well all I can say is after that I think we were all in a dinkie hypnotized cause after that 4 more plates of dinkies came out of the kitchen and $ 20 more of mine went into their cash register. My kids really enjoyed the chocolate chip, but I have to say I was really a fan of the pbnj. The strawberry shortcake is good as well, but you can tell they have a mold pan which the dinkies are cooked in and they cut the batch in half leaving it in tact and fill with strawberries and cream. These were just ok. We didn’t try any of the savory flavors, but my kids have made me promise to take them back, when my wallet allows. Maybe if my kids sing their ‘Dinkie Jingle’ I can get a discount??? Also, their bubble tea was really good too. Go. You wont be disappointed.

I ordered the chicken sandwich from here while sitting in the salon, waiting for the dye to take. The order arrived pretty quickly and the food was delicious and fresh. I would order from here again if in the neighborhood.

Service here was SLOW early on a Friday evening with the place empty. Cinna-dinks were quite tasty and with an odor reminiscent of Dunkaroos but given what they are(albeit made-to-order), hard to justify this expense often.

So, I haven’t actually tried said«dinkies» but the buffalo chicken salad is bomb. My other selection(mac and cheese triangles) was 100% on par with the salad & delicious. Last night, Dinkies took the lead in my delivery life & is officially my new favorite fat snacks-after-drinks delivery source.

I usually order from Dinkies every so often when it comes to late night sweet cravings. For delivery, the food and drinks come pretty fresh and everything is nicely wrapped. However, this most recent time I ordered from them, delivery was unbelievably slow and unacceptable. A little over an hour after ordering, we called to check on the status because we should have received the order by then. To our surprise, the food was still waiting in their restaurant to be delivered. Well, I guess there goes my iced strawberry smoothie or should I say melted strawberry milkshake? I will have to think about ordering from them again.

I’ll be honest, I walked into the dinkies badly needing to use their restroom but I didn’t want to walk in and just leave like that so I ordered an order of dinkies ^^” Dinkies are little cakes that are a strange mix of pancake and cupcake batter filled with different fillings. I opted for a safer cinnamon sugar filling, but they offer more adventurous options as well such as gruyère cheese and onions. The dinkies came out fresh and hot present nicely in a set of 7. They tasted good although not anything extraordinary. Just pleasant baked pieces of dough with a nice filling. The staff was extremely friendly and warm which made the experience nice.

My expectations for Dinkies weren’t high, considering my general dislike for most mini sized pastries(like the bite sized custard cream cakes popular in Asia) and pancakes in general. That said, Dinkies surprised me with an interesting variety of savory and sweet options that are not typical, especially in a place like Chinatown. From a location standpoint, the subtle exterior facing the church doesn’t seem to attract much people traffic, so the place seems empty much of the time. Girly types might be quick to label their décor as «super cute!» while I’d say it’s something out of Real Simple magazine: clean, bright, and creative. I noted earlier that the Dinkies were an interesting mix, though they’re not for everyone. I wasn’t a huge fan of the savory options, most notably the chicken and biscuit and gruyère green onion dinkies. They were a bit on the blander side but I much preferred the ham and cheese /PB & J versions, which were slightly more satisfying. They make for a decent bite sized snack, even if it feels a tad pricey at roughly $ 5+ for an order of 7. The«Your Way» variations are close to $ 7 for each order and no, one order isn’t enough to fill you up. The other options range from quesadillas to salads to sandwich combos, which all vary in quality and price. I haven’t been terribly fond of their sandwiches, their $ 14 for a less than stellar short rib ciabatta and a $ 13 tuna melt don’t really carry their weight on the price tag front. The starters seem like a better deal and one could get creative and order a few dishes of $ 4 – 7 plates to sample a good portion of stuff. I’ve managed to enjoy snacking here, while surfing on the computer with their free wifi. The service has always been cool and friendly, even as they answer the phone to pump out delivery orders all day. I can appreciate Dinkies as a quiet spot for café loving patron, and since I haven’t tried *all* of their items or dinkies, I’ll be experimenting /samplings here very soon.

I love the concept of dinkies… Literally expect a sweet morsel that’s in between a pancake & a cake. Mmm, gruyère green onion dinkies for the WIN! Cheesy gooey center encased inside a mini pancake. The employees were attentive but forgot to put in my friend’s order. In addition, the sandwiches were just okay. Nothing stood out about them. As many Unilocalers stated, dinkies does look like a nursery so do not expect an elegant gala — it’s a place to just hang out & grab a sweet or savory snack.

Yum dinkies! I came here armed with a Scoutmob. When I found the place I wasn’t sure if it was it or not or if it was open. There was no one in there. Despite the proximity to Canal Street, there isn’t much foot traffic on Baxter St. Anyways, I went in and took a look at the whole menu. They offer not only sweet and savory dinkies but also sandwiches and bubble tea!!! I wasn’t that hungry so I order sweet dinkies — the banana chocolate crunch ones. They brought out the dinkies and they were hot and fluffy. Just like someone else said, the outside is basically a pancake. On top there was a little bit of chocolate and toffee. I was hesitant at first and again, not that hungry but I ate the whole thing! ahhhh! With the Scoutmob, I paid $ 3.98 including tax. They are normally $ 5.49 and the make your own are about $ 7. The vibe here reminded me of a bubble tea place back in college and the ones near my grad school. You can sit and do work and no one will both you. And it didn’t seem to be a proper restaurant. I ordered at the cashier register so not sure if they do table service. Also it’s a young vibe with a friendly young staff and good music playing(think hip hop, pop etc.). Will be back again to try the savory and the bubble tea. No credit card minimum and Amex is welcome!

I first heard about about Dinkies on Serious Eats, and being a fan of the original HK mini cakes and the Danish counterpart ebleskivers, I knew I had to try it! The dinkies come in both sweet and savory flavors. An order of 8 will cost you $ 5.49. Dinkies«Your Way» are $ 6.79 and allow you to customize both the filling, sauce and topping. Having just dined in Chinatown, of course I had to go for the sweet. The person at the counter recommended the strawberry shortcake dinkies. The dinkies were made to order and were layered with fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream and topped with just a touch of powdered sugar. It was a little pricey considering I gobbled them up so quickly but definitely worth a try. Service was also a bit slow but I guess it’s to be expected since the dinkies are made to order. Not sure how equipped they would be to handle an actual crowd since I was the only person in the place. The décor is cute and the store is well-lit. The location is not as high-traffic as some other places in Chinatown but if it’s worth it, people will find their way. Next time I go back, I will probably try some savory dinkies. Jalapeño cornbread sounds yummy.

I’ll be honest — I only stepped foot into Dinkie’s because: 1) It was 90+ degrees outside in NYC, at 8pm! 2) It had a free check-in deal for a strawberry lemonade. 3) I was waiting for a friend to show up. 4) My face looked heinous from just getting a facial, so I had to find somewhere to hide — STAT! Dinkie’s interior is soooo adorable! It is decorated in baby blue and white and you’d expect to see little newborn babies rolling around everywhere. It is by far one of the most spacious and definitely the cleanest places I have ever been in Chinatown. And the bathroom is freaking cute as heck — I could spend all day there… TMI?(; Dinkie’s has a variety of both sweet and savory snacks. I opted for the cinnamon sugar dinkie, which came out quick and contained about 6 pieces. They were fluffy and surprisingly not too sweet balls of carbohydrates. Nom. The guy who took my order forgot my drink but brought it out to me once he remembered. PS — he’s also not the most happiest person in the world — cheer up man! The funniest part of my little retreat at Dinkie’s was the fact that I saw about 10 old Chinese guys and dolls walk in just to see what this new place was, asked the disinterested cashier a ton of questions, and then walk right out. Lollercopter indeed(:

These things are really delicious, but this place needs to get their act together if they are going to survive. I came on a Saturday at around 1PM. From the«Sweet» selections we got a half order of the Cinnadinks and a half order of the Peanut Butter and Jelly dinkies(each half order comes with 4 little dinkies). When we asked the guy if we could do half orders of the«Savory» selections he told us we couldn’t because there was no button on his register to ring up half orders for the savory dinkies. Seriously? That excuse kills me. So we also got the full order of the Chicken in Biscuits dinkies(I wanted to also try another flavor but opted not to be completely fat and get another whole order of 8 pieces since we couldn’t get a half order of savories and this was just a snack on the way to lunch). Moving on, given that we were literally the only people in there, we expected to get the food pretty quickly. Much to our disappointment, it took about 20 minutes for us to get just those 3 different types of dinkies we ordered. This is pretty unacceptable, especially given that there were no other customers and also that the place is setup like a quick order and go type of dessert spot, not like a sit down place(it feels like a typical frozen yogurt shop where you get your order immediately, as it has a toppings bar in front of the register). But anyway, these operational issues aside, the dinkies are awesome. The one plus about waiting is that we knew everything was made fresh and it all came out piping hot. The Chicken in Biscuits dinkies were delicious. They were filled with what seemed to be white meat chicken and pieces of scallion. The Cinnadinks were also awesome — they tasted like mini bites of cinnamon buns. And lastly, the Peanut Butter and Jelly ones were really really good — since they were nice and hot, everything melted together nicely and made for a perfect bite. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt since they were only open for a week or two when I went. I definitely hope they iron out some of these issues so they can survive for awhile for me to go back and try some of the many other flavors that look good.

A Dinkie is «a fun homemade treat, a hybrid between a pancake and a cake, shaped like a sphere and can be filled with anything.» How CUTE is this place? Dinkie’s is a new dessert and snack option just north of Canal Street. The bright, happy, and clean store has plenty of seating, a very cool vibe, and free wi-fi! They carry a large array of toppings and fillings in a bar, as well as coffee and tea offerings. I ordered the cinna-dinks for $ 5.49. We received 8 dinkies, each slightly smaller than a ping pong ball. Imagine pancake mix cooked in a cake ball machine — that’s a dinkie. If you frequent Chinatown often, they’ll also remind you of slightly larger Hong Kong cakes that you buy off the carts. Ours were stuffed with cinnamon sugar and drizzled with cream cheese frosting and more cinnamon on top. They were tasty, just right portion wise, and served warm and buttery. I also redeemed the check in offer for strawberry lemonade, which was surprisingly not too sweet or tart, just refreshing. The location isn’t ideal, but I would definitely try here if I needed some wi-fi for an afternoon or for a small gathering. The price is good considering the novelty and the seating, but if you’re a big fan of Hong Kong cakes, you’re not going to see the value. Oh, and CASHONLY!

Dinkies is off the beaten path, but when you’ve found it, you feel like you have found a treasure. When you walk in, you are greeted by the happy baby blue colors of the place. There are ample places to sit with tables and benches a plenty. I’ve never heard of dinkies before, but was curious to try them. They are a cross between a dessert and a puff pastry. I shared an order of gruyère green onion dinkies with my friend(around $ 6). They were really good and was the perfect afternoon snack. I also got a free strawberry lemonade with my order since I checked in on Unilocal.I’m eager to come back to Dinkies and try more flavors!
