Finding Mary and Elegant Scribbles was a dream come true! I wanted the envelopes for our wedding save-​the-​dates and invitations to look beautiful and elegant, but didn’t necessarily want to pay for calligraphy (which can be quite pricey)! As luck would have it, I stumbled across Elegant Scribbles through reviews on Unilocal,and I’m so happy I did! I worked with Mary, who was extremely professional, responding to emails almost immediately and clearly stating all costs (which are very, very reasonable). In terms of her work, her handwriting is beautiful and we received many compliments on how nice the envelopes looked. Her turnaround time is extremely fast, and dropping off/​picking up the envelopes was a breeze. Really can’t recommend Mary and Elegant Scribbles enough – she’s the best!

Mary did an excellent job with our Save the Dates for our wedding. My fiancé and I both don’t have particularly nice handwriting, and wanted our beautiful STDs to have equally lovely addressing. I’ll admit it — I am a person with horrible handwriting. This created a bit of a dilemma when it was time to send out invitations to the most important day of my life — my wedding!
In a world of texting and evites, I still feel receiving a beautiful paper invitation in the mail is an important touch when inviting family and loved ones to share major life milestones. Since I wanted the addresses to be hand written and not printed on a computer label, I began my search for a wedding calligrapher.
There are many wedding calligraphers out there, but I soon realized the traditional «calligraphy» look didn’t really fit with the unique, playful feel I wanted to convey with my invitations. Luckily I found «Elegant Scribbles» online.
The website is very informative (so nice to know the pricing right away!) and provides great samples of the various prints and scripts. My fiancé and I immediately fell in love with Kate’s script and were very quickly in contact with her directly. Once we sent her a list of our addresses and envelopes, she emailed me some sample photos to make sure it was still exactly what we wanted. Kate was great about keeping us informed about how everything was progressing. The envelopes were addressed and mailed back to us with a quick turnaround time.
We worked with Kate for both our save the date envelopes and the envelopes for our formal invitations. So many of our guests have commented on how beautiful the writing is. We are planning to have her do the names on our escort cards as well.

Elegant Scribbles, and particularly Mary, did a great job with my wedding invitations! After searching for an affordable calligrapher in NYC, I couldn’t find anyone who would work within my budget. Luckily, I found Elegant Scribbles, and Mary’s beautiful handwriting saved the day! She is very easy to work with, responded to email quickly, and was able to address, stuff, and mail my invitations within 72 hours of getting them! If I ever have a project like this again, I will definitely use Elegant Scribbles!

I am so glad that I found Mary and Elegant Scribbles online! We are having a very intimate ceremony and wanted to send out wedding announcements with our engagement photos to all of our family and friends who we will not have at the intimate ceremony. We wanted to find a way to make these feel more personalized and thoughtful.
A lot of stationary services offer calligraphy– which was much too formal for what we were going for, and more than we wanted to set the budget for on these. When I found Elegant Scribbles I told my fiancée this was definitely the perfect solution.
All three styles are beautiful– I ended up liking Mary’s script the most and she conveniently is also based in NYC. The whole process was very smooth and Mary was set on making sure we got exactly what we wanted. After I sent her the Excel file with names, she sent me a picture of some example envelopes (gorgeous writing) and she also kept me updated throughout the process– which only took a few days for 110 and probably could’ve gone faster if I was in a rush.
Even after she met up with me to deliver them (in a super cute bag) she said that if I needed anything else re-​done for any reason at all, she would do that!
I would definitely recommend Elegant Scribbles as a handwriting service to all you future brides! And I’m sure it’s helpful for anyone trying to personalize a mailing!

I cannot rave enough about Elegant Scribbles, the handwriting and addressing service I used while planning my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. I found this wonderful service when searching the Web for a Calligrapher to address my invitations. I was shocked when I was told the prices that some of the people and companies I contacted were charging, $ 1.50 — $ 2.00, even more than that! The price I may have paid would have come to close to what the invitations cost themselves!
Then, I was thrilled when I found Mary — the founder of Elegant Scribbles. Right away I knew I had found someone special. I immediately received a written quote and had my envelopes out to her the very next day. From the moment we first spoke and throughout the entire process of her working on the invitations, Mary was extremely courteous, gracious, professional and a pleasure to deal with. After Mary addressed a few of my invitations, she sent me pictures of them via email so I could decide if I was happy with how they looked or wanted any changes made. They were perfect, exactly the way I had asked and I received my completed envelopes back a week later. My cost was also literally a fraction of what the others were charging.
After speaking with Mary so many times (I should also really add she is extremely patient as I have to admit I definitely was not one of her easiest clients), I found out a lot about her and Elegant Scribbles. In 2008, Mary’s daughter got married and to save on some the cost, she decided to address the wedding invitations herself. When Mary was told how amazing they looked, this is what gave her the idea to start a business of her own and Elegant Scribbles was founded later that year. Kate and Julie, are two other women that work with Mary. Kate is Mary’s daughter and Julie is an Art Major who joined their team shortly after the business was started. They both live in Atlanta, Georgia, while Mary is conveniently located in New York City. Elegant Scribbles ships all over the United States, so matter what State you live in, their services are available to you.
What impressed me the most about Mary’s work was how unique and personal my invitation envelopes looked. Mary, Kate and Julie are not Calligraphers — they each have a very unique style of penmanship all their own which is what makes their work stand out and is so different than all the rest. If you look at their website, there is a lot of information there as well as examples of the different styles of penmanship to choose from. I also used Mary to write out the place cards for the affair. Both the invitation envelopes and place cards looked so beautiful and elegant, the compliments I received were endless. I have every intention on contacting Mary again next year when I start to plan my younger daughter’s Bat Mitzvah.
