Go Go has been my first and only experience with Japanese curry, and it’s been a very delicious experience. I’ve been here a few times for a very filling lunch, usually sticking to the chicken curry. You really get a lot of food for you money, I order a medium chicken curry, which is extremely filling and costs only about $ 8. The standard meal is simple, it consists of white rice, a cutlet(either chicken or pork, but shrimp and sausage is also available), and tons of curry on top. The curry is the highlight and it’s extremely flavorful. Add in some hot sauce and the meal is perfect. The restaurant is small, but there’s a lot of seating and it’s not too hard to get a spot during lunch. The wait is never too long either, even when there’s a line they keep things moving and the food is usually ready in about 5 minutes.

My first time when down in NYC for a meeting in WTC, was a great fast and much tastier alternative to the regular options in the city. I’ll definitely return!

Go Go Curry is a good quick lunch spot to eat there or on the go.(There is limited seating because the space is not that big, but they have a few tables and some seats by the wall and window.) The food here is pretty simple and they are more of a comfort food compared to anything fancy. It is pretty much curry with your choice of protein, so you can just have curry with rice, or you can top it with shrimp, chicken, pork or sausage. They also have various sizes for you to choose from, so depending on how hungry you are or your budget, you can get more of less. They also offer larger combos which you can have more than one meat with this meal along with an egg. I usually go for the Katsu Curry, but if I am hungry, I would go for the Home Run Curry. The Grand Slam is also nice to share. The food itself is very simple. It comes with rice, curry, your choice of protein and a small side of cabbage. The curry is a thick sauce, somewhat like a gravy and unlike Indian curry, it is more of a sweet curry, so if you can’t handle spice, this is your type of curry! The curry is also a darker curry, which according to Go Go Curry, it takes 55 process, 55 minutes to stew and 55 hours to mature. I do feel like compared to the boxed Japanese curry cubes, there is more of a depth in flavor. As for the pork, chicken and shrimp, they are breaded and deep fried. I’ve had it a few times here and it always comes crispy, but if I do get it to go, it does lose some of the crunch.(For some weird reason, I’ve had it to stay at the Midtown location but it wasn’t very crunchy though.) All the curry also comes with a side of cabbage which I enjoy mixing it into my curry at times since it can be quite heavy so it’s nice to have some crunch and something lighter to add to it. They also have options for additional toppings(for an extra surcharge) if you want some pickled veggies, cheese, egg or even extra curry or meat. They also sell just the curry too, so if you want to eat it at home, they sell it in larger servings, up to 50 – 55 portions. If you also you also plan to drop by, going on any days with a 5(5th, 15th, 25th), they will give you a free topping coupon to use on your next visit. The only downside is that you have about a week to redeem it. Overall, a good spot for simple comfort food!

Do you see what I see?!(points to the pic) it’s a box full of curry! A box full of curry! Oh wait. Phew. There’s rice under the curry. I almost had a heart attack. Was worried as to how I was going to eat the curry without rice. According to my friend, I did. turn. red while eating it. Thank god there was water! Free water! Woot woot! I went with a college friend, who happened to work in the same building as I do. Before entering, we stared inside from outside of the door/window, the place was PACKED at 1pm. We both hesitated on going inside… Eventually we grew some balls and went inside. Apparently, everyone had already ordered and was waiting for their pick-up… I kind of panicked since I didn’t get a good look at the menu and I was first to order. I quickly ordered the Original Go! Go! Curry. I mean, you can’t go wrong when you’re ordering an Original of something, right?! The order came quicker than I thought – was thinking that I was going to spend my whole lunch time waiting for my food, but guess not! *Whew* My friend ordered the Chicken Curry Katsu. I tried a piece and the katsu was pretty good! I LOVE how crispy the skin was but the meat might have been too tough… The thing with ordering the Katsu was that there wasn’t enough CURRY! They first placed the rice in the box, then the Katsu on the rice and then the curry over the Katsu. More. curry. for the rice, please. In conclusion, definitely a fan of this place. The curry wasn’t too spicy, the katsu skin was beautiful and last but not least, I finished my meal!(: As you guys already know, going in on the 5th, 15th or 25th of each month gets you a free topping coupon that’s good for three weeks before it expires. Update: 5÷25÷2016 To my surprised, it was pretty darn empty during dinner time(6pm) for one of their famous days ending in 5. Including the staff, my friend and I were only part of a total of 8 people in the restaurant. We must have waited at least 10 mins before our orders were taken – surprised that the service was much slower during dinner time.

Good thing I found this place. Serving is big with an affordable price. I walk in to this restaurant thinking its a curry place so I might not really enjoy it but since I’m so tired eating the same food for lunch so I give it a try. I got the home run curry $ 9.50– it has egg, you can pick between pork or chicken, shrimp & sausage with rice. Yummy! The chicken & shrimp is coated which makes it crispy. I didn’t expect that I’m going to enjoy the sauce like that. I really don’t like sweet sauces. Good thing their sauce is a little salty & not sweet at all! Its tasty! Serving size is huge. If you’re so hungry then this is really filling. Service is great & very fast! I just waited for like 2 minutes & got my order. I’ll be a regular customer! ;)

Yum! I am a HUGE fan of Katsu– which is basically breaded meat(?) I’ve only ever tried Korean style chicken cutlets/Katsu but the Japanese version was quite delightful as well! I got the home run combo which is 12.95, which I wouldn’t say is a bad price for the amount Of food there is The only reason I took a star off is because my chicken cutlet was quite tiny. I thought it would be bigger, but I finished my chicken way too quickly and had too much rice leftover :( I still got super full from the sausage, egg, shrimp, and rice but I wish the main part of the dish(the chicken cutlet) was bigger

My first foray into Japanese Curry outside my home. Now of course, getting authentic homemade Japanese Curry cannot be beat! But, on this cloudy Friday, I went for it(with a little assistance from my yuhbo!). This place is fantastic. The Curry is nice and thick, with a little bit of spice(not too hot, and if you like it hot, they have their own hot sauce which you can buy too). All of the meats(chicken, katsu, sausage and shrimp) are fried. That said, they give you a nice option of adding some toppings. I added a boiled egg, its just the right thing to do when enjoying the flavors of some curry! I got the chicken curry, my buddy got the katsu. About the chicken: as I mentioned, it is fried, but very tasty and the chicken is nicely cooked. It is not over cooked or chewy at all. Rather, the chicken is tender and soft. The current is drizzled over it, but is also poured over the rice underneath the chicken. They give you the right amount of Curry and the meal is quite filling. I went with the Medium order which I was told was a good amount of food by the lady I ordered from. Although I am not stuffed, I am satisfied, though there may be some(and me on other days perhaps) that would need the large. Or, I will order the Homerun(think the same thing I ate but add some sausage — which smelled and looked delicious)! Although I did not try the Katsu, my buddy kept moaning while was gorging himself«this pork is SO tender», «it is SO delicious», «we have to go back»… And let me say, I will definitely be coming back for more. I will need to try additional toppings and without question will need to get the home run for the sausage(or it can be added as a topping too). Is it better than my homemade curry? No, nothing beats the authentic homemade deliciousness!!! But Go Go Curry is a place to GOGO!

I enjoy the Japanese Curry. I can’t get enough of the sauce. I usually get the pork katsu. There isn’t a line at 1PM. There is this super friendly employee with lots of energy. His enthusiasm is refreshing after a long morning of work. The different sizes reflect the amount of rice in the meal. The topping of meat or whatever is still the same. Come on the 5th, 15th or 25th of each month to get a free topping coupon.

This is a quick stop for lunch. Your order gets ready very quick. I ordered the #5 double. I’m not sure what the double means. The meat is not a lot. I was hoping for double meat when I ordered the double. There are a decent number of tables if you want to eat at the restaurant.

Quick, good portion Japanese curry. It is(relatively) cheap, the meat is good, the curry might be a bit salty for some, but really with the location and time, I really appreciate the efficiency and speed more so. It’s really a 3.5 star. Come check it out, but I don’t think it’s worth it to go past the katsu curry at $ 7 /$ 7.50. If this gets to be a $ 10 take out it’s a bit much when all you’re adding is a single shrimp and a bit more meat variety. Anyways, I’ll definitely be back for this and hopefully I just got a late batch of curry that seemed a bit saltier. Cheers for the great service!

Ordered over the phone and the service was great. The staff even asked around when will I arrive to pick it up. This is a big hint guys! This lets the staff know when to assemble your meal with the fresh katsu. As katsu is generally fried and is crispy and hot, they want you to experience it in the best way possible. After arriving earlier than what I’ve told the staff, he quickly got the freshly fried katsu and assembled everything together neatly. I had three orders of the Home Run which included a shrimp tempura, sausage, 1 sliced boiled egg, chicken katsu, shredded cabbage, rice and their curry. That took less than 5 minutes. It was super delightful to eat it. The Home Run is a very comforting meal. It’s best if you eat is ASAP. Don’t let it go cold or else the katsu won’t be as crispy and the curry won’t be as great. Only downside is they do not deliver. The inside of the restaurant is casual. I only saw one staff. He did everything from answering calls, assembling the meals, cash register, and so on.

Haven’t been here since grand opening day. This is my second time here. I ordered the plain Go! Go! Curry. I had $ 2 credit on my Level Up so I was happy to use that. The cashiers give free toppings coupons for next time use. The curry still tasted just as good as the first time I ate here. This place is small, clean, bright, free wifi, free chopsticks magazines, free water and have many chairs/stools. There’s many customers who like to order and take to go. Definitely will come back when I’m in the area and craving curry again.

Go Go Curry is a quick and affordable lunch option in the Financial District area. The lines are long when you enter the restaurant but you will get your food pretty fast. Probably a 5 minutes wait from order to pick-up. I only have tried the katsu curry [pork cutlet]. I got the walk(small, $ 7) and single(medium, $ 7.50) size before. The only difference is just the amount of rice they give you. I’m able to finish the single size. Overall, pretty good Japanese curry and I’ll try the chicken katsu curry one day.

I love re-discovering an old time classic. I used to visit the midtown location with coworkers from my old job for an easy, casual feast. What a pleasant surprise to find another location tucked away in the windy streets of lower Manhattan. The place is small with loud flyers about eating competitions. There’s limited seating and nothing special about the décor at all. Service is fast and the menu is simple: plain, chicken, shrimp or pork. There a couple of add-ons such as cheese or eggs. Although I wish they would toss in some veggies just so I could feel a little better about my giant plate of meat & rice. Nevertheless, I still enjoy a nice Chicken Single in all its delicious curry glory. Like a typical NYer I cannot tell you what is in the sauce but I do know it’s yummy and the price is right. Pro Tip: Add some Sriracha sauce or any hot sauce! So GOOD!

Cheap, fast, delicious. Three things I love when I’m on a NYC layover. My BF, a New York native, introduced me to this place and as luck may have it, it’s right down the street from my hotel. Credit card minimum is $ 10, but the cashier was super nice and let me slide. For less than $ 8, I’m left full and happy.

A good olé’ standby in a part of town that can be described as(almost) being devoid of quality lunch options(w/o breaking the bank of course). In the prime of my law school career, I occasionally treated myself to some grand slams here every couple months(I’d have come more frequently if I wasn’t a piss-poor student), and I fell in love with the place. Its small nook of dining room booms with personality; bright yellow-painted walls, framed pictures of curry eating contest winners/contestants, and the mug of the Go! Go! Curry!(mascot) gorilla plastered up every which way you look… I shouldn’t forget to mention the theme song being played on loop… over and over and over again. After a brief hiatus from being a downtown Manhattan regular, my newest form of employment as a «FiDi salaryman» has me situated in a very desirable position(as far as being given easy access) relative to this provider of Japanese comfort food. Not even a two block walk away from my office, it is a constant struggle to not come here during my lunch break; alas, concern for my well-being(as pertaining to my wallet and my gut) prevailed over my more primal instincts, and I came up with a reasonable accord which balanced out the interests concerning funds, health, and overall happiness(as it pertains to obtaining what I want/desire in the moment). What was this compromise? Well, this writer should appropriately thank Go! Go! Curry! for its novel«free coupon days.» I love free coupon day. The word«go» in the Japanese means«five,» and the moniker of this joint was(allegedly) inspired by the double five sported by famed Japanese baseball legend, Hideki«Godzilla» Matsui. Get it? Fifty-Five for Matsui… Go! Go! Curry??? Godzilla(big monster lizard)… Gorilla mascot(King Kong, big gorilla)??? While the latter of the logical leaps makes little sense, the«Go Ju Go»(fifty five. er. go! go!) stands to reason. Anyway… the compromise that I made with myself was that I could go to Go! Go! Curry! for lunch three times a month(at most). These days would be the 5th, 15th, and 25th. The selection of days containing the number 5 is no coincidence; this place truly buys in to the hype of the number 5. On each of these days, Go! Go! Curry! joints throughout the world(no joke on that seemingly hyperbolic statement) distribute free«topping» coupons, which allows patrons to get an extra topping on their order for free; want eggs? want an extra pork/chicken cutlet??? want natto(ehhh)??? then use the coupon! Additional toppings also included are sausages, shrimp tempura, cheese… You can use a coupon contemporaneously with your order that same day, or you can save it. The choice is yours. Side effect(s) of extra toppings(on what is an already sizable portion of food, and at a bargain price…) may include a powerful urge to take a nap at work, chronic yawning, destruction of any fitness resolutions(especially as related to one’s glutes and abdominals… unless you’re going for that fat @$$). I eat quickly, so I can actually take a 20 minute nap at the tail end of my lunch break. The wait for every 5th/15th/25th is painful, and made even worse when one of these days falls on a Saturday or Sunday(to which I am unjustly deprived of my katsu curry fix)… but absence does make the heart grow fonder, and I find myself more appreciative of this place each and every time I go back. Thank you Go! Go! Curry! for being the t*ts.

Best type of Japanese comfort food! Their pork/chicken katsu and curry is delicious. It’s quite addicting especially when it’s freshly made to order and extremely quick. Also, the prices are appealing being in the location that it’s in. I usually order the Grand Slam($ 12.50) which is large enough to fill up two people. It consists of pork katsu, chicken katsu, boiled egg, shrimp tempura, and two sausages. The katsu always comes out perfectly crispy and tastes wonderful when combined with their hearty curry. My only complaint is that the seating is very limited and it can get really crowded during rush hour times. Anyhow, visit during the 5th, 10th, or 25th of every month, you’re entitled to a free topping coupon!

Good Japanese curry served in kidney shaped silver bowls. I am quite happy this chain exists. Japanese curry is definitely one my comfort foods. Katsu Curry($ 7): Crispy pork cutlets soaked in gravy with a nice helping of cabbage. Yummy. Home Run Curry with Sausage, Pork Cutlet, Shrimp, Egg($ 9.50): Basically the same thing with 1 sausage, 1 shrimp tempura, and a sliced up boiled egg Good, quick food at very reasonable prices. However, in the summer, it was blazing hot in this restaurant. I remember there was no AC. Still I stuck around because I wanted curry. Also, they hand out a coupon for a free topping on the 5th, 15th, &25th of every month. I believe they usually expire within a few days.

Perfect place if you’re craving some fried and carb loaded fast food. Personally I probably wouldn’t have it again but glad I tried it. The grand slam is more than enough for 2 people to share. It has rice, shrimp, sausage, egg, pork and chicken, topped off with a salty curry sauce. While the chicken and pork were great, the best part of the platter was definitely the shrimp. It was similar to tempura shrimp but had a slightly thicker crispy outer layer, covered with a creamy white sauce. Yum. Was not a fan of the sausage and the sauce. It gets a little overpowering after after a few bites. I also recommend adding some hot sauce that they provide.

Their Grand Slam really hits the spot when you’re starving on a workday and really need some comfort food but still isn’t completely fried and unhealthy for you. Their breaded and fried pork(or chicken) over rice, sausage, egg and tempura shrimp drenched in curry sauce is balanced together to make a very delicious lunch. I do find that the curry always makes my mouth a bit dehydrated and I’m always reaching for water afterwards but it’s worth it.
