I gotta say, when you have that craving at almost midnight and other places are closed, this cart feels like an Oasis. Has a different taste than most Halal carts, but in a good way

I came here a handful of times because my halal craving wasn’t strong enough to lead me to 53rd and 6th, but strong enough to do something about. The guy is really nice and friendly and chats with you while he prepares your food. I order the lamb platter here and nothing else. The lamb is okay, nice generous chunks/portions. However, the rice leaves much to be desired. It’s too sticky and thick for my liking. This cart is okay for a quick fix if you live around here, but that’s about it.

I needed a quick, cheap lunch. It costs me $ 5 for a chicken pita wrap. It was basically a pita with chicken, lettuce, bell pepper, tomato and some weird orange sauce. The chicken was moist and flavorful, though I think there could have been more. The lettuce was fresh looking. I thought the bell pepper was a weird addition that didn’t necessarily go with the rest of wrap. The sauce was thin and watery, and I don’t know that it really added any flavor to the wrap at all. I probably wouldn’t buy from this cart again, especially with Shake Shack or Papaya King nearby. The food at this cart is just mediocre.

X:( That’s my angry face. //53&6 is so FAR away! And I’m only reviewing this because it currently has a 4-star rating, based on 1 review. Ok, so I’ve only tried one dish: their Chicken and Rice. But, that chicken and rice tasted like Food court food. That is not a compliment. The chicken was meh(definitely not hot, aromatic and flavorful). The rice was meh(slightly moist; very yellow). And the veges. actually the cucumbers were tasty. That’s it. The cart only gets 5 more words. I’m not heading back.(Sorry!)

I love getting Gryo’s around the city, and this is actually the closest cart to where I live, but its also the worst gyro that I’ve had in the city to date. It was different, so maybe someone would like that but to me it just didn’t taste that good. The meat wasn’t cooked quite right and they put a weird sauce on it. There isn’t much else in the neighborhood, but just hop on the 6 and go downtown.

Yay! I’ve found yet another cheap and delicious on-the-go place to get good grub! Strangely enough, my bro and his gf had to come visit and try it out first before I did… I give this 3.75 stars. This Moroccan food stand(I think it’s Halal, but not sure) is on the corner of 86th and 3rd and serves the usual lamb gyro(you can also ask for chicken) with white sauce(bbq and hot sauces are other options). Somewhat different from the 56th and 6th food cart, but still delicious! I’ve grabbed food here quite a few times now and the lamb gyro with white sauce is consistently yummy! Their chicken kebabs are also pretty good(but a little dry). However, I had their hot dog once, and that will be my last time! It was so soggy and wrinkly(and i mean the weiner itself, NOT the bun!) it was disgusting and I didn’t even finish it(and it’s RARE for me not to finish my food!!). But I will definitely keep going back their lamb gyro and white sauce! =)
