It’s just a soup. It’s just a sandwich. It’s just a salad. It is nothing special. Nonetheless, I ordered the chicken and sausage jambalaya soup with a chicken gouda sandwich, a krispy treat and an apple juice, my total was $ 14.24.(Somehow, I wasn’t charged for the sandwich) …like seriously, it’s these types of meals that make me frustrated that I was too lazy to go grocery shopping and bring my own can of soup and make my own sandwich. Oh well… another day, another meal.

I don’t see what else anyone can expect from here. The place is in times square so of course theres a lunch break rush. Yes there’s no seating but take it to go. Soup can be reheated and the sandwich is cold anyway. The place is clean, quick and have great customer service. I ordered the curry shrimp and corn soup with a half of turkey and gouda sandwich. The food actually tasting good is a plus. Im a happy customer and cant wait til im in the area again so I can return.

This place is known for its soups but the sandwiches are not bad either. I decided to by-pass soup and try two of their specials(half each) — chicken siracha and grilled chicken with walnut pesto. Found both them quite nice — tasty and light. My only critique is on meat qty which could have been slightly more. Other than that it was a nice, not too heavy lunch. Bread was good too, better when hot(a bit difficult to bite off when cold).

Really horrible service. It was the worst salad I’ve had at hale and hearty– they barely chopped up the salad, and when the cashier rang me for a large when I ordered a small and tried to correct him, his response was«its only 10 cents more» and made me paid and hurried along. It wasn’t the cost of the money that bothered me, but his horrible attitude and customer service.

We were in a rush and had to grab a bite to eat before heading to the Majestic for an evening performance of The Phantom of the Opera. My friend and I were starving so on our way to the theater we noticed Hale and Hearty. I really appreciated the ability to test the soups out before ordering. My friend and I both ordered a sandwich and soup and it was just what we needed. I highly recommend the corn chowder!

I wonder how this place does as well as it does. It’s a sodium overload. I’ve eaten here several times and each time I feel like I’ve had more salt than my body can handle. The first time I ever came here, the girl told the man in front of me that all the soups were made fresh. This is not true. I’ve seen them carry bags of sealed soups to heating containers. I guess the salt preserves the soup for traveling from wherever they’re made. The clam chowder was so salty I could’t taste any clams at all. Sandwiches are pretty good, but I don’t really want to get soup any more. I might be preserving my insides.

i am so in love with H & H! the only problem is that there isn’t one in San Diego!!! this place is soup, salad and sandwiches… all fresh made… tons of choices and reasonably priced! maybe my opinion is skewed since it was freezing cold in new york and of course soup is even more amazing when you’re cold… but seriously… this place is amazing! i did the soup guy thing across the street(and his soup was amazing… but no place to sit)…H & H also has delicious soup, but with indoor, warm and cozy seating. i sampled a few different soups… didn’t check out the salads or sandwiches this time. The concept behind the salad. you buy the bowl of lettuce then take it to the counter and have them toss your lettuce with the toppings you select… super cool!!! This really needs to be a «thing» in San diego!!! can someone please do this! so if you want a good lunch for a good price and aren’t on a hunt for famous chef’s in NY… this is a solid place to eat…

A convenient spot in Hell’s Kitchen that provides reasonable priced soup and salad. There are four items are always free: red onion, carrots, croutons and cucumbers. You can add up to three kinds. One dollars off for soup and salad combo. Various kinds of soup options. My favorite is gumbo !! Free crackers as well. Price soup + salad is usually from $ 12 and more.

Good and yummy liquid dinner. I just wished the portions were a little big. I got the medium, it feels sorta like it should be a small normally. I got the White Bean, Broccoli and Tomato(I have no idea if it is actually called that.) It was über good, but cause the portion wasn’t big enough I had to snack a little afterwards. I do love how the crackers come with the soup. I also really like how they let you taste test all the soups. But for some reason, the server didn’t seem too attentive and helpful, she seemed more annoyed than anything. It wasn’t like there was a huge crowd or anything, there were maybe 3 people behind me? The second she gave my first tester, she sorta brushed me off and started serving the person behind, which was fine, till I asked for my second and final sample. She didn’t seem too happy. But nonetheless, the food compensates for it.

Been coming here(and others in the chain around Manhattan) for a long time for a relatively inexpensive lunch between shows or before one. Like: Soup is the thing I get the most and they have so many changing flavors, I usually get to try something different all the time. Sandwiches are also really varied and delicious. Almost everything I’ve had I’ve liked(don’t be afraid to ask for a sample). Dislike: Salads are a bit of a rip-off compared to Lenny’s across the street, so I usually avoid those. Prices are at the top of the ‘reasonable’ limit — get the medium soup, it’s plenty even if it doesn’t look like it. Staff can be pushy, especially in busy times. Overall, I plan on coming here many more times simply based on a reliable, good quality(and good tasting!) product. It also helps this one is open daily, unlike other Midtown locations.

Great choice of soups and fast and good employees. The sandwiches are very good condition especially the Tuna and Spicey Chicken. Unfortunately it’s a bit overpriced.

Perfect place on a cold afternoon. It’s so close to my walk(literally a block away) so anytime I am craving a hot soup, this is usually the place I come to. They always have really good selections of soup and everything I have tried has been A+. I normally get a small but I always regret it and wished I ended up get a medium size. They also have a salad bar but I haven’t tried it yet but I have heard its fresh and you can add whatever you like and they toss it right there for you. Definitely try to get there before the lunch rush because if you wait any longer, the line will be out the door.

Good soup and sandwich at a decent price. I had the combo — small white bean and spinach soup with ½ turkey, avocado and pesto sandwich on ciabatta. The soup was good if not particularly special. The sandwich was very good, especially the pesto. At about $ 8, it was reasonably priced for a good lunch.

This is just a block from my office where I’ve worked for over 8 years. I went once or twice back in the day but did not fall in love, especially for soups when The Daily Soup and Soup Man are both right nearby and both better IMO. But recently I discovered Hale & Hearty’s Pick 5 salad deal. I’ve been on the Bride Diet for a few months now and have been eating salads for lunch every day, which gets really expensive.(I can stomach the lack of variety in my work cafeteria’s salad bar only so often.) I love Chop’t and Fresh & Co. but their salads can easily cost $ 12−14+ and that adds up fast. While H&H doesn’t have the greatest concoctions or the biggest variety of toppings(and no kale, sadface), their Pick 5 is a pretty good deal, relatively. You get a large salad that includes carrots, cucumbers, red onions & croutons* PLUS you get to pick ANY5 additional toppings, for $ 9.49 plus tax. They also do a loyalty card so you get a free salad** after buying 10. A decent deal. I cannot speak for their dressings as I stick to olive oil and lemon juice. *which I leave out because, Bride Diet **small w/two-add-ins or a ready-to-go salad only

I like the selection here… lots of exotic choices… also comes with your choice of bread… sour dough is typically my choice… this is a great spot in the winter time when its«soup weather» Good value and the selections are tasty, great place for a quick lunch.

I was looking for something light in the area and decided to try this place out. I got the half a sandwich and small soup combo. I went with the guacamole wrap and 10 vegetable soup, both were very good. I didn’t know they provide a pitcher with water with lemon free of charge.

Rainy day in the xity and my friend and I were out and about in the city shopping. Wanted to have something light to eat so we stopped in. I ordered the combo soup & wrap. Chicken noodle soup was ok. Not the best I have ever had but not bad. The chicken avocado wrap was yummy. A little pricy but then again we were in the city.

Hale and Hearty makes me very happy coming home from ice skating on a freeeezing NYC night. The soups are good, but I’ve found them to be a bit heavy on the«filler» vegetables — onion, celery, carrots — and a bit skimpy on the hearty ingredients. The benefit of this place is the ample seating. If you’re looking to take soup to go, then Soupman just up 55th St has better soups. But if you need a place to sit and enjoy your soups, then Hale and Hearty is a good choice.

One«bite» into my soup and I think«this is a great idea.» Three«bites» in, I regret my decision. The soups are salty and half way through, I’m chugging water and wishing I didn’t get soup. The sandwiches are good, no complaints there. In regards to the location, this place will do. You’ll be in and out with your lunch that you hope will keep you satisfied…

Update!!! Was sick earlier this week and when I could eat wanted hale and hearty. A friend came over and we ordered from their website. Quick easy efficient and accurate! Good portions. Delicious. Had chicken barley… large. Very hearty and tasty too. The bread and crackers r A nice addition. Normally don’t get too into that but sister girl was sick. Then went in person the next day. The workers are so smiley. Even while I take a long time to decide what I want and taste and try and wait and hmm and haw… they r always so nice and professional. I remain a fan and kicked it up a notch to 5 stars. The soup and salads ain’t cheap, ESP w lots of toppings but I feel it’s really good healthy and quality. And by the time my ass is done tasting, I’ve earned it! Got my soup crd stamped and BAM!
