I read the reviews on Unilocal first and I’m glad I did. These guys are fantastic.
My hybrid headphone amp died. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. Brought it in to Hi Tech on Saturday and the guy took one look at it and said «Shouldn’t be a problem. We’ll call you with an estimate Monday or Tuesday.» Monday morning he called with a reasonable estimate. I picked it up that night and it works like new. Excellent, speedy service!

I can’t say enough good things about Frank and his team. I have had Hi-​Tech repair two items (a camera flash battery pack and a security light), and both times they used ingenuity to get the job done on time and for a great price. They are honest, hard working, and they care about their customers. I would absolutely trust them with any items that break in the future or to get their advice about other electronics.

Update: My camera is still working perfectly!

I trusted Frank with my beloved powered subwoofer (1000 watts, 12 inch driver} which wasn’t woofing properly and he tested the amp section and the driver, diagnosed the problem, and advised me as to how to correct it.
All at no No Charge!
I then heeded his advise and ordered the woofer speaker from Yamaha and installed it into the the woofer cabinet.. The result was I spent $ 225 with Yamaha but now I have a fantastic sub woofer (list price: $ 2500)
This is the place to bring your malfunctioning electronics to get them back in service again, without going bankrupt.

I dropped off my computer monitor here. They didn’t take long to call me back and give me an estimate to fix it, which was a reasonable price. Not long after that they had it fixed. The staff were courteous and helpful in explaining what needed to be fixed. I’ll definitely use this place going forward when anything else breaks.

I called Saturday morning hoping to have someone come (one day soon) and repair a broken digital audio jack on my 50″ plasma. Conrad was here a couple of hours later, did a few magic moves on the motherboard and 20 minutes later it was all good… and for much less than other places that expected me to tote the TV to them. Great find.

A week ago, I had the misfortune of dropping my Samsung S85 digital camera while I was taking pictures of Christmas decorations (damn uneven sidewalk). As a result, it was stuck in the zoom position. I took it to High Tech electronics. I explained to this Eastern European guy was happened and he said it would take 2 – 3 days to fix. When I came back, it was fixed. I took a few test shots in Chinatown just to make sure it worked. The price was a bit steep ($ 65), but at least my camera works again.

What an amazing experience.
So, I’ve got a 52 inch Samsung tv that crapped out on me, partially because of Samsung’s capaciitor issue (or, so I thought) and probably becuase the tv is seven years old. I tried calling Samsung, who by the way has a horrible Call Center, and an even worse Executive Complaints Department.
I decided to go to Best Buy and upgrade to a 70inch 4k Vizio (don’t buy Vizio by the way, the repair guy with 30 years of experience told me that they are crap), they didn’t have the tv in stock, and I guess all things happen for a reason. Some friends told me that I was being a dummy, and should get my tv repaired and not shell out 3 g’s. They’re right, I’m a dummy.
So, the dummy took their advice, and called Hi-​Tech. The boss (Frank) was understanding to my plight and told me that this sound like something they could definitely fix and could even set it up for the same night! The Mets were facing the Dodgers in Game 5 people — on a side note, the Mets need to make sure ther re-​sign Daniel Murphy and Yoenis Cespedes. See you Saturday night Chicago Cubs!
Anyway, I gave Frank the model number and tell him the problem (no power, and used to make clicking sounds, and turns on and off by itself). Conrad (repair guy) was at my house within the hour! He is a very down to earth dude, and let me pick his brain on what brand of tv not to buy (he said Viizio’s are crap, and that my tv did not have the capacitor issue that I thought was the problem, and also — no need to buy expensive HDMI cables, the cheapies are just fine) he replaced the power supply, and as we were hanging the tv back on the wall, there was a screeching sound and vertical lines (this happened before as well, but forgot to tell them that when I called initially). Conrad asked if I had mentioned this problem when I spoke to Frank, I told him I had not. He said it was definitely the «main board» that was causing that.
He said he may have one in stock, and called the shop. Conrad went back to the shop, and then came BACK to my house the same night! Frank, the owner called me and said «Russell, I know you want to watch the game tonight, so Conrad is going to come back.»
Mind you, this guy has been working since 9am, and it was now 630pm! And yes, I tipped him well.
As for pricing — he quoted me $ 250 for the power supply, and then when it was deterimined that I would also need a main board — the total was $ 320. To me, that sounded extremely reasonable, considering that it was in home service, they made two trips (my fault), accepted credit card, and gave me a 90 day warranty on parts + labor. Then, because I’m a New Yorker, I had the nerve to ask Frank to make it $ 300 even instead of $ 320 — get this… he said «sure.»
Honestly, I am going to tell everyone I know about these guys.

Frank, I appreciate the customer experience, keep up the good work gentlemen. You have a customer for life. I hope I never have another issue with any electronics, but if I do, you will be the guys that I reach out to.

Fixed my Crosley record player quickly for cheap! All the other electronics stores in Manhattan didn’t even know what to do with it — this shop had it in and out in a day.

This place is legit. I emailed them my problem with my tv. They responded and then gave me a call and set up an appointment to come over to my home to fix the issue. They gave a quote over the phone so I knew exactly what the cost range would be.
They called before they arrived to make sure I was home. And the tech (Conrad) arrived and diagnosed the issue and fixed the television in 10 minutes or so and was on his way.
No hidden cost. No problems. Friendly. Convenient. And professional.
Legit business with good service.

Love this place. They fixed my vintage stereo receiver in no time for cheap. Also, I brought in a clock from the MOMA store that stopped working and they opened it up to identify what the problem was. When it was determined that it could not be adequately repaired I was not charged, even though it took me a while to go pick it up! Very kind and friendly people. I will certainly go back!

Needed an external hard drive to be fixed cause it was making a clicking sound. The girl here quoted $ 35 to fix it. I dropped it off on a Friday and they said they’ll give me a call on Monday or Tuesday to let me know if it can be fixed. Come Monday, they tell me it can’t be fixed but I can pick it up anytime. Although disappointing, I was pleased with their customer service and prices. Very pleasant people to deal with. It’s just too bad my hard drive can’t be fixed!

Wow. Simply blown away. Went in after my Samsung died. They fixed in it an hour. Replace circuit board, the works. Very happy. Go if you get a chance. They do good work.

Hi Tech can’t stop being awesome. I read the reviews here before and decided to bring my badly damaged tablet (the screen cracked all over). They promised me to get my tablet back in just 6 days, quite fast than others. They gave estimated price for 120 $ and I put my faith on them. After 6 days they not only managed to repair my tablet but also gave me 20 $ discount! Finally my struggle is over now. Highly recommended!

Great service! My MacBook got water damaged and they fixed it within 2 days at SIGNIFICANTLY less than the price Apple was gonna charge me! And the ppl there are very helpful and experienced. Definitely worth 5 stars

This place is honest, quick, and affordable.
I came here to get the USB ports on my macbook pro 2010 fixed. I went to the Apple Store first and was told that I would have to replace my entire Logic Board (as the USB ports alone couldn’t be fixed). I didn’t really ask for a price estimate, but I assume it would’ve cost anywhere from $ 600 – 800 to do this, which I wasn’t willing to do on a 5 year old macbook.
I came into this repair shop and was told that they could fix my USB ports without replacing the Logic Board and that it would cost $ 90 (which seemed much more reasonable to me than paying the Apple Store hundreds of dollars). They also said it would only take about 45 minutes! What’s even more amazing, though, is that 10 minutes later, I got a call from the shop owner telling me that after opening my computer and cleaning it a bit, my USB ports started working again (without them having to fix any wires), so instead of $ 90, they charged me $ 10 for cleaning.
It’s really hard to find honest repair shops, so I really appreciated that the store was honest and didn’t charge me for something they didn’t really have to fix! They could’ve easily said they fixed my USB ports and charged me the full price estimate, but they chose not to.
I’ll definitely come back in the future if I need any repairs done!

This was the fastest transaction I have ever gone through. Was expecting to have to wait at least a few days to get our 60inch HD TV fixed. Our HDMI ports werent working and they diagnosed that the motherboard was fried up. They had an extra one on hand and was able to repair in less than 10 minutes. We were in and out of there in 20 minutes.
These guys really know what they were doing. They aren’t looking to rip you off. The fact that they had an extra motherboard and fixed it right away was amazing on its on let alone the low price they gave us.

Sadly – this review needs to be amended. I took my equipment (a powered speaker) to these guys for repair. Yes – they did the repair quickly and for little money. 6 months later the speaker started having the same problems as previously. Now living in another city, I took it in for repair again. The guy from the shop called me and said… um, who did this repair for you in the past? The parts that were used were mismatched. The soldering and reconstruction of the speaker were shoddy. It was basically held together with bubble-​gum! Gratefully, the damage was not so bad that it could not be undone. This is clearly one of those you-​get-​what-​you-​pay-​for scenarios. They were nice guys in there but I can not recommend bringing them any serious hi-​tech gear.

Great place. I had a macbook pro whose graphic card had failed. Apple should have recalled that model because it’s a very common problem but instead Apple said that I would need to replace the entire logic board and even the top case to the tune of $ 800.
Hi-​Tech Electronics just replaced the graphic chip and it was a much more manageable $ 250. The guys were friendly and gave me an estimate on the spot when I dropped it off and two days later called for me to pick it up. I have had it back for a month now and so far it works great. I highly recommend them. For Mac laptops anyway.

I’ve been coming to these guys for years and they really are miracle workers. And they’re very honest, it’s almost like they’re running a not-​for-​profit! They’ve looked at past desktops of mine for consultation of what I should do to fix whatever problem I had and actually DECLINED money I wanted to tip them for the consultation. Isn’t that insane? They also always suggest doing the warranty first rather than chase after your money and find all these little things to charge you for which believe me, almost every other computer repair shop will do. They are truly incredible and will fix all your problems (at least your computer problems) as quickly and as inexpensively as possible.
My most recent experience (this past weekend actually) was with this laptop I’m on right now which I went in for for only one problem: the screen would flicker on and off when I moved the lid back and forth, and the laptop came back two days later with another part of it fixed (they glued back a part of my laptop that was loose and about to fall off)…without me even pointing it out!!! They also immediately discovered missing screws in my laptop during the consultation that I hadn’t ever even noticed (which they replaced for me). All for $ 95. Incredible, I highly recommend this place.
Also, they speak Chinese and English!
