Imperial Moving & Storage

The people individually were nice, but the actually job done was not something I’d recommend to others. I already sent in all of these complaints to the company, who said their customer service rep would get back to me. That was two months ago.
–The men broke a very large vase, which is understandable as it was a bit hidden from view. But then they just left it there and didn’t bother cleaning it up.
–The «assembly» of the bed was barely put together; the headboard was left completely detached, the screws weren’t put in, and the ones that were, were not even put in all the way.
–Charged different hours than what they actually had performed
–One of the main things which was incredibly frustrating was the number of men. I was quoted the price for three men. There were three to start with, which was actually the easier part and could’ve been completed with two. But the move into the apartment was only two men, when three were really needed, so it took much longer than it should have. At first they tried to charge me for the extra hours and then when I brought it up, they brought it to the original quote. But it still would’ve taken less time than that.
–I found out I was charged the same for my move from NY to DC as a friend who moved from NY to Charlotte, which is quite a big difference.

Imperial Moving and Storage was recommended to me by someone who has used them twice. I was moving out of a 4^th floor walk up on the UES this weekend to Milford, CT. I managed to pack a whole lot of stuff into my NYC apartment and could not have moved all of it with as much care and precision as Jerman and his team did. Great experience and worth the money to me! I used this service twice. NYC to Chicago and back to NYC from Chicago. High quality service. Everything was done timely. They are pricier than others, but they pack with care.

I will never use this service again. They showed up almost two hours late to my move which was to a building that has restrictions of when I should move in. When I called to see where they were, the man told me he simply wasn’t coming to do my move. I had to call management which then told me there were other movers on the way and will be at my apartment in fifteen minutes! They showed up an hour and a half later!
I ended up moving more than half of my stuff myself so that I could move into my building without any violations. They sent two extra guys to do the move more quickly, and that was their argument for why they were not going to give me a discount. Absolutely ludicrous. I ended up getting charged 500 dollars for a 45 minute move!!! I have to say the movers themselves were such hard workers and did a wonderful job but the behind the scenes is a disorganized, unprofessional mess. I am still livid about the charges the I had to end up paying for a move I ended up doing myself.

I’ve used imperial twice within the past year to move out of NYC to nj and then back again 8 months later. Both times they showed up ontime, moved quickly and didn’t damage a thing. They were very organized and nice and even helped assemble some of my furniture back together after having to disassemble on the previous move. Their price is extremely competitive and the best price among all movers I saw. Additionally they have great customer service and were very attentive to my needs and even booked one of my moves within 72 hours of needing to move.
I would 100% recommend them to anyone and will be using them for any of my future moves in the NYC area.

After calling around for quotes for my move, I chose Imperial for their reasonable hourly rate. The job took longer than expected due to my poor packing skills and the fact that I underestimated what I was moving. Despite this, the job still cost less than the quotes from the other major moving companies.
As for the movers, they were tremendously helpful and professional. Moving is a horrendous experience, but these guys made a tough day a lot easier. I’ll definitely use Imperial again, and recommend them.

They arrived 4 hours late, we missed our window to move in to our new building, on the day we had planned, so a 1 day move took 2 days, and they still haven’t reassembled all the furniture.
Worse still, they left boxes of documents in the rain to get soaked. The number of pieces of furniture damaged is ridiculous. Luckily we have insurance to cover the actual cost of the damage, because their compensation policy at $ 0.30c a lb is laughable.
Before booking consider what your belongings are worth to you, because they aren’t worth a great deal to Imperial Movers.

This is my second time using Imperial Moving & Storage and I would use them again.
They are true to the quote (as long as you are entirely honest about what you are bringing — I see a few reviews where they seem surprised by «hidden fees» — and something tells me the reviewer failed to mention a few things and then were surprised when the moving company would charge them for extra work… — that’s like showing up to a restaurant, expecting to pay for just a main dish, then surprised when the bill comes and you were charged for the four drinks you ordered). The guys are courteous and quick. They handled all my items with extreme care.
Here’s the only downside — be sure to mark your boxes on where you want them to go. I moved into a duplex and was really clear about where things went, and was surprised when the boxes marked up and downstairs, were switched around. Additionally, they dis-​assembled a table, moved it, and didn’t put it back together (so, yeah… that).
Other than that, which I consider minor things compared to horror stories I have heard, these guys are great and without reservation, would recommend them again.

This was the first time I ever had to move from one place to another and I was unaware of how stressful and expensive moving/​movers can be. Imperial movers were recommended to my boyfriend and I by 2 friends so we thought we would give them a try. They were amazing! Extremely affordable and they even moved my boyfriends studio and my studio the same day. They sent 3 men and they were all very nice and worked extremely fast I was impressed. I could not have been happier or more pleased with their service and would recommend them to anyone looking for movers, especially in the city.

We had a great experience with Imperial Movers. They were reasonably price and flexible on dates and timing which was huge considering we were moving to DC and our building in NYC had any rules about dates and times for a move. The guys were fast and crafty in terms of getting everything done that needed to happen for a same day move. They got all of our items to DC safe and sound in one day – how much more can I ask for! I should also add that the crew was friendly and focused and made what could have been a stressful day quite pleasant. Would definitely use them again.

I recently moved my son from home to an apartment in NYC and used Imperial Movers. They were great! Prompt to my home, called on the way to make sure I knew they were on their way and told me their expected time of arrived (THEY WERE EARLY), They were quick and efficient! And Maya in the office did all the paperwork so make me happy and make the move that much easier!

Would give the team manager of my move, Rob, five stars. Would give the overall company and other members of the team should get about 3.5. Overall, the job got done. But not without drama.
Things you need to know:
— Arrived on time. They actually called and let us know they could start two hours early if we’d like.
— The quote does not include $ 50 fee for each TV, mirror, piece of glass that needs to be transported. This wasn’t explained till the team was there and as explained to us «the sales team is only interested in getting you to hire us, so they hide all these fees.»
— So other hidden fees, $ 12 a box for each wardrobe. B/​c we were misquoted (see below) and our stuff wasn’t going to fit in the truck, we ended up having to purchase these to save time. Worth it, but not happy about it.
— We had revised our quote weeks ahead of our move to include additional furniture and account for a higher number of boxes. The operations team never did (or chose not to) update the quote, and therefor the truck wasn’t big enough to hold all of our stuff. So, make sure you have an accurate quote and the truck will be big enough. We called our sales contact to inquire about getting a new truck, or getting a % knocked off. No dice.
— I honestly can’t say enough good stuff about Rob. It took him and two others 3.5 hours to wrap and load everything from the our first apartment in an elevator building. When I expressed to him that I felt like his other two team members were dragging their feet — and that I had seen them be careless when putting items in the truck he acted so professional. Like a true manager he appreciated this feedback, thanking me and assured me he would make sure the team put a pep in their step. Sure enough, it only took 55 minutes to unload the truck at our new apartment! That is with 2 flights of stairs. He was moving at lighting speed. I can’t thank him enough. What should have likely been a 7 hour job was completed in about 5.5. THANKS ROB!
–The other two workers were apparently both new. One only a week old on the job. How’d we get so lucky? I watched him knock over two of my items out of the truck by just being careless. I’ve also now found a handful of marks in my new place where they had been carelessly propping bed frames, etc. Again, Rob apologized and stated that he tells his team to always lay these items down, so I suppose this is again a result of newbies on the job.

My husband and I got a recommendation to use Imperial from a friend. We really didn’t know what we were getting because both of us have never used movers in NYC before. But this time we were moving with a lot more stuff (especially kitchen) that we accumulated over the last few years and from a one bedroom to a two. They gave us a fair quote and anything we needed to add or change they quickly did and emailed back the updated contract.
They arrived early, and my building didn’t let movers in until 9, so they walked in on the dot. We were moving from flatiron (not an easy place to park) to the upper east side off 3^rd avenue.
We are super organized, so in advance of moving we had all boxes packed and organized except the kitchen. They packed the kitchen in 2 hours, which would have taken us at least 6, because we have so much. Not one thing broke! They were super organized with one person clearly leading the team of 4 to make sure everyone had a «role.» This made the process smooth as everyone was efficient. They all helped each other out too when someone needed and extra hand. By 11am, they had moved everything out. They helped us move all out hanging things and made boxes for us so we could easily move it.
By 1130 the truck was secure and they left to meet us at our new building. By 12 they had a parking spot and immediately starting bringing everything up. As they walked into our new apartment they read the label on the box out loud so we could quickly tell them where we wanted it. Everything was brought up and moved in by 145.
Things to make sure are done before that we did for an easy move: make sure insurance and building rules are followed, label everything no matter what is in the box. Star thing or unique identify boxes you know you want to unpack and have first. All these things helped us move and made the movers work even easier and more efficient.
The 4 guys that’s worked for us were super helpful, efficient and most importantly very nice to work with. I would recommend imperial to anyone! Thank you for making our move so easy!

I have done two moves with Imperial and could not recommend their services more highly. They are fast, courteous, very careful and conscientious and offer very competitive prices. They making moving a breeze! Have recommended them to family & friends and will definitely continue to do so!

I used Imperial moving on a Sunday morning from midtown Manhattan to Astoria and they were FANTASTIC. I called up and spoke to Anthony, who was such a pleasure and he gave me a great flat-​rate price. The movers arrived right on time and they were extremely friendly. They moved my 1 bedroom over to Astoria in only 2.5 hours, which was incredibly fast. No surprise fees, genuine people, and I would recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone looking for an easy moving experience.

I Had an excellent experience and flawless move. The Guys were fast efficient and everything went very smoothly. They showed up 10 – 15 minutes earlier, and completed the move from jersey city to New York in less than 4 hours. Definitely a good experience.

I felt the need to write this review as the others are so negative. We moved this past weekend and had a great experience with imperial movers. I’ll list out the more important points
–First off, they gave us a quote that was half of what others gave and I called a long list of companies.
–They gave us an hour window for when they would arrive. They actually arrived fifteen minutes early which was more than fine by us.
–The team was efficient with one guy coordinating the team and two others doing a lot of the leg work.
–They were super accommodating with boxes that weren’t taped or things that were not quite ready to go.
–wrapped all the furniture in blankets and nothing was wrong at the end
–they helped to set everything back up at new place including TVs. We couldn’t find a wire fore awhile and they looked everywhere until it turned up
Well book them again for their good service and very competitive rates!

This will the last time I will ever use imperial moving company. The company is extremely unorganized. The movers showed up an hour late, the truck showed up two hours late, three men quit on the job because imperial asked them to pay the $ 4 meter from of their own pocket. They eventually began the job nearly four late.
While packing they needed to pay the meter gain and refused to continue until it was paid, i had to kick them out of my apartment, pay the meter, then let them back into my apartment to continue the packing. One of the movers stayed downstairs to «watch the truck» after the meter was fed.
Finally the truck was packed and ready to drive literally 5 blocks down the avenue to my new apt. We parted ways after the truck was loaded and were to meet at my new place. i waited an hour and 40 minutes for the to finally arrive at my new place.
I had boxes delivered a month before my move so I could begin packing. They charged me for the boxes along with my deposit. When I was signing the final contract they told me there was no indication of the 25 boxes that I bought and suggested I pay for an additional 15 boxes. Very unorganized, how does one’s company not know they delivered boxes to my apartment?
I had a 1 bedroom apartment with two closets of clothes, 2 dressers, 2 TVs, a kitchen and bathroom with utensils and hair products for one person. I sold everything else online. Therefor this move should have not taken 11 hours by the time the last box was unloaded.
After the movers left I realized they had not brought in a mirror. They had to turn around and bring back the item they forgot to load off of the truck. They also broke an edge off of my dresser, and broke a mirror that I had to throw out.
Imperial is by the WORST moving company I have ever worked with and I have moved 4 times in the last 8 years living in NYC.

Today between 79^th and 80^th on 1^st avenue we watched this service clog 2 lanes of traffic on first av. A gentleman pulled over and asked them to moved to the parking lane in the left while they unloaded their massive truck but they refused and just kept going. We watched this craziness from a restaurant during early dinner. Haven’t used their services before, but I certainly never will now after how I saw them act.
