Stereo equipment showroom and record store under one roof. We are New York City’s only true «music store». Our equipment ranges from entry level to the ultra high-​end and everything in between. In Living Stereo has the largest selection of tube amplification anywhere in the country. Our comfortable and easy going approach allows you to hear the equipment in one of our beautiful sound rooms before you buy. Customer’s love our approach and they love our taste in equipment. Our Record Store is carefully curated by one of our friendly and very knowledgeable staff members. In fact, every person manning our record department is a musician! We have an amazing rock, jazz, world, punk, indie, blues, experiemental, and electronic music selection, both new and used.

We carry turntables and cartridges from Rega, well-​tempered, Feickert, Shindo, Dynavector, Ortofon, EMT, Musichall, Auditorium 23, and Grado Labs. Electronics from Naim, Rega, Heed, Shindo, Line Magnetic, Leben, Triode Corporation, Micromega, and Marantz. We have loudspeakers from Dynaudio, Spendor, Dali, DeVore Fidelity, Opera, Davone, Wharfedale, Rega, Line Magnetic, Shindo and Auditorium 23. We carry headphones from Grado and King Sound.

History

Established in 2001.

In Living Stereo offers a treasure trove of high-​end gear from around the world. With an emphasis on exotic hand-​made tube amplification, most notably from companies like Shindo Labs, Leben, Triode Corporation, and Line Magnetic. In Living Stereo also sell more affordable gear from Rega, Wharfedale, and Dynaudio.

Our Record Store is known for it’s wonderfully curated new and used vinyl collection. There is no other store like it in New York City, so come on down and check us out.

I’ve been enjoying music for many years and as a result I became obsessed in how to make the music I liked sound better. In 2000, I decided I would take what I learned and open up a new type of stereo equipment store that didn’t exist in New York at the time. I wanted a store that was easy going and approachable. One that didn’t have the same old equipment manufacturers but ones that reflected my own taste in how equipment should sound. In 2001 In Living Stereo opened up in a small space on 4^th Street. For 10 years In Living Stereo brought in new brands, many of which were new to these shores. A few of these brands are now considered in cult audio circles to be among the best ever produced in the history of hi-​fi. In 2011 we moved to our current space, a block away, on Great Jones Street. Here we opened the first stereo equipment/​record store in NYC. In Living Stereo, I’m proud to say, has a world wide reputation for excellence.
