Jack’s came highly recommended, my experience there was extremely positive. Everyone I worked was very helpful and knowledgeable. The project was finished expertly and very quickly. I confidently recommend Jack’s to anyone looking for framing services.

I have had at least 8 photos and posters framed by Jack and the others in his shop. They are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and treat each customer without rushing to make a quick decision. Each item I have purchased has turned out beautifully done and the suggestions that were made by them as well as the craftsmanship has been excellent. I always say that the frame «Makes» the picture.

In my life, I’ve only had a few professionals frame a few key items. Diplomas and an occasional piece of artwork.
I’ve used Jack’s twice in the past and I was never more surprised and satisfied with the quality of their work.
Both times, I was framing something very personal and unusual. The first was rolled up tightly, curling, and crinkled throughout. Jack or John (his real name) and his staff found the appropriate looking frame and put it together very professionally. The preexisting damage was invisible in the final work.
The second was an even more unique framing project. Pieces of paper cutouts that my artist friend made for my wife and I as a wedding gift were positioned and carefully framed in a shadow box with the perfect, textured backdrop by John’s team. Like all artwork, there was only one of these in the world. But, I was never worried about handing it over to John.
Amazingly, John was able to turn this project over within a very short deadline as a personal exception. I wanted to surprise my wife by a certain date and he delivered!
I was never concerned about his taste either. I was able to talk about the aesthetic choices and the cheaper, compromise options in a straight, efficient manner.
The two pieces are now hanging proudly in my apartment and are always a conversation starter for my guests.
Jack’s is my local framing store. And I hope it will remain so for a long time.

I just retrieved a Hirschfeld etching framed at Jack’s. The work was finished four days early. John and his staff did a superb job at a very fair price. Service was great. I received excellent advice when we planned the work. Everyone was polite and helpful both at drop-​off and pickup. I’ll be back.

Had a custom frame made for a large print. We had an idea of what we wanted and they worked with us to find the perfect frame. The owner was very knowledgable, offered suggestions and gave us guidance on what would work best to showcase the print. The work was done on time and the result was amazing. The pricing was very competitive and we could not be happier with the job they did. Will be using Jacks for all future framing needs.

Though you can get standard frames on the internet for a fraction of the cost, my experience here has always been fantastic. Their work is beautiful, and they are courteous and helpful. One of my prints was damaged due to humidity and they fixed it for free, and again did a beautiful job. If you want to support local business, Jack’s Art Gallery won’t disappoint!

I’ve had 3 vintage family photos framed here and they all came out beautifully. I didn’t have any particular frame style in mind, and the ones they suggested were just perfect. They really have an eye for this. For the older ones, they suggested a UV-​blocking pane of glass, which I never would have thought of but appreciate having. The service is not cheap, but worth it. These frames will last a long time and never go out of style.

I’ve been coming to Jack’s to have prints framed for over a decade. Their service is so good that even though I’ve moved out of the neighborhood, I keep coming back. They are professional, timely and they’ve given me good ideas and feedback when I’ve asked for suggestions on frames and mattes.

Jack’s Art Gallery did a great job framing three prints of mine with nice glass too. Unfortunately I hung one up incorrectly and the glass broke, so I went in and they didn’t even charge labour, so a mistake that could have been very expensive became a lot cheaper. They have great customer service!

There were a group of men standing outside staring at a photo, and it makes sense why. Jack’s Art Gallery is amazing! The staff is very friendly. We reached out to Jack’s to ask for a donation to raffle off for an organization. One business day later, our frame was ready! It looks beautiful. The turn around was so quick, and the staff were extremely professional and reliable.

This is THE best place in NYC to have prints, posters and art framed. Their selection of mats, frames is huge and they are very helpful. I’ve had 8 items framed by Jacks so far and their mat/​frame/​glass work is always on time and looks top-​notch professional. Framing at Jacks makes whatever you are framing that much more remarkable.

I usually go into this mom-​and-​pop shop with an idea of what I want, but come out with something different — and better. That’s because the folks who run the place know what they’re doing. Excellent quality framing by and guidance from people with an expert eye. Bonus: they’re nice.

Over the past two decades I’ve brought many things for framing; posters, prints, photographs, original artwork and several textile pieces. I’ve brought in large pieces and small. They’ve always been easy to work with and importantly, willing to work within my budget. They make good suggestions for colors and materials and spend time holding possible choices up against my items so I can see how they will look. The turnaround time is pretty rapid, often faster than what they originally tell me, and I can honestly say that I’ve not been disappointed by a single job. I’m very happy that they’re in the neighborhood!

I had 4 prints that needed to framed within a strict deadline and Jack’s staff delivered beautifully framed prints right on time. Though not inexpensive it is more reasonable than other framers I checked and it is well worth the price.

I visited here recently for work. I was supposed to pick up a frame for my boss.
I got here at around 11am and there was only one staff cleaning the glass table at the time. I told him I was supposed to pick up a frame. Then another staff showed up and told me «Oh that frame? You mean the one we had to rush overtime for?» I was really confused and was not sure if he was just joking since I had no other information with me. But this staff quickly came back with the frame. I had to unwrap it at the time per instruction from my boss and the frame is absolutely stunning! They did a great job on it.
The same staff rang me up and was super nice when I was about to take off. He asked if I needed help with the frame or anything. He even said «have a nice day» or something to that effect — greetings like this doesn’t really happen in the city so I was pleasantly shocked!
I cannot speak for its pricing since I didn’t have to pay for the frame personally.

Jack’s recently framed a signed print for me and did a FABULOUS JOB!!! They were helpful, friendly, efficient, and competitively priced. It is worth the trip to work with them no matter where you live. If you are in the neighborhood– COUNT YOURSELF LUCKY! They are a local treasure.

Brought 2 pieces of art in here recently without any real idea of how we wanted them framed. One piece is a painting that had been taken of its frame when we bought it so we could get it home more easily during our trip to Africa. The other is a print that we knew we wanted to put behind (extremely pricey) UV protection glass.
We looked at a few options for each piece, and in the end were both amazed and impressed that the first option presented for each turned out the be the one we liked the best. Both pieces look beautiful and we frequently comment on how perfectly the frames complement the art.
I’d definitely recommend this place!

It’s tough for me to give a local «mom & pop» the middle finger, especially when such locales are becoming a rare luxury in the Morningside Heights area, but I’ve been stewing on this one for quite a while now. I may have put this review off, but I’ll always have the constant reminder of Jack’s failure hanging on my wall.
Years ago, I spent a few weeks living in the Peruvian rain forest with a tribe called the Witoto Indians. One of the special properties of their isolated village, Rio Ampiyaco, was the abundance of a certain kind of tree whose bark was used for both canvas and pigment. Naturally, my prized souvenirs from said journey included three paintings I purchased from them.
Flash forward to Jack’s, where I brought the artwork to be framed. After I had picked out the appropriate peripherals, they asked me an odd question. While I cannot recall the exact semantics, it went something like so:
«Do you want us to seal it?» The man at the counter inquired.
«What do you mean?» I asked.
A second man interjects, «are these worth anything?»
«Well, I mean…»
«Are they actually worth anything?»
«I guess not.,» I concede.
«Then don’t worry about it.»
When I got my framed paintings back, they didn’t look quite as nice as their initial consultation had implied (nor as nice as the price would suggest) and I eventually took them to another frame shop to evaluate re-​framing them. That’s when I found out what the coarse man meant by «sealing» it. Much to the surprise of the man at the second frame shop (not to mention my personal shock), they had glued my paintings to sheets of Styrofoam.
I realize that much of my criticism of Jack’s Art Gallery an be seen as my own fault as a naïve consumer; I admit, this is true. I should have asked what they were doing to my paintings. However, all other objections aside, I’ve never forgotten that moment when the stern salesman asked me if these paintings were ‘worth anything’ — as if it were impossible for them to have any value. It made me feel like shit. Maybe Jack’s isn’t a bad place on the whole, but I will never return.

These people will take your money and give you an inferior product. I had to have the print posted by them redone.

Since my first review from 2007, I’ve probably dropped over $ 500 here at Jack’s. Well, it’s definitely over $ 500, but I’d rather not think about that. I do like to look at the amazing job they do on my frames.
Every time we have guests over that are new to the apartment, they comment on the great posters and art we have up, particularly the framing, which makes me happy. The guys who work at Jack’s are great, always cracking jokes with a straight face, suggesting the best way to display my art, and giving me a good deal on the job.
I won’t be taking my stuff any where else any time soon.
