They are really shady about rates. A quick office visit — literally a 5 min chat with the doctor after waiting for 40 mins and did not involve any exams whatsoever — cost me 220 after insurance. It was extremely frustrating to deal with the receptionists as they refused to tell you how much it would cost prior to the visit. At least they could have told me they would bill my insurance company $ 350 for a consultation. not the greatest experience.

Surgery went incredibly well. I feel amazing. Was up and walking by Day 3… Took 8 weeks sick leave. make sure that you listen to the directions… No sex for 10 weeks
Post op means NO SEX FOR 10 weeks!!! Went to New Orleans
On week 6… Did the deed and almost ended up in the ER THERE… Going for second follow up next week!

Dr. Levey was treating me for endometriosis and pelvic floor spasms last year. He performed a laparoscopic surgery, placed a mereena, and did follow ups.
When I first went to him I didn’t really know what was going on, his initial examination and meeting were informative and felt like he took his time. Visits after that felt rushed and the only recommendations he had were for prescriptions.
He prescribed me a pill which he was not qualified to take me off and sent me to a psychiatrist — for which he had no referral.
Waiting room time was typically 30 min, not including the time spent waiting in the exam room (usually another 10.)
Exams and visits were rushed — I rarely had more than 5 – 7 minutes face time and felt like I couldn’t always ask questions or tell him things because I felt belittled. I paid $ 60 per visit for this.
I told him I was taking a pill for yeast orally (because that is what it said to do on the pill bottle) and he asked me how I thought that would get to my vagina.
I left NYC a few months ago and have finally set up an appointment for a new gynecologist. I requested to have my records released to my new doctor and was told by the office staff that it would be 75 cents PER PAGE. I asked why — because I have never had a doctor charge me for the release of my medical records — and she said «Because that is the maximum amount Dr. Levey can legally charge.»
I am livid. I’ll update when I find out how much it will be in total.

At first, all was well: I went for an annual exam to this office and was pleased with the care I received.
However, I have experienced the same problem as many other Unilocalers: unethical and unexplained charges. I am presently fighting to have an inaccurate charge of nearly $ 300 removed, which was charged without consent or explanation to my credit card.
Despite confirmation directly from my insurance company that nothing should be owed, I keep getting excuses about why the charge has not been removed.
I will not be returning to this office. Beware!

I am going to second the «DO NOT COME HERE!» posting. There are so many great Dr’s out there who actually respect and care about women. He is not one of them!!! I was diagnosed with a vaginal bacteria infection and instead of treating me, he wanted to send me to «Vagina Therapy» I’m not kidding!
I also have since tried to request MY medical records after deciding to see a different Dr. and he personally gave me a hard time about it.
It has been a frustrating and upsetting experience please do not go see this man.

Read other reviews and take notice. I was treated like garbage here and turned away because I refused to leave my credit card on file for «incidentals». I went to the office near Bryant Park. I am not even sure if the doctor was in the office but I couldn’t get to see even the assistant as the receptionist started coming up with this idea of getting urine test which she couldn’t explain why on earth it was needed then she said it was not really needed and that she was not medical personnel (duh) so she didn’t know for sure. I realize now that this is done to get unnecessary test to inflate your bill.
The worst part was that they insisted on taking my credit card for their long-​term hold and there was lengthy paperwork how they could charge it for anything from being late to cancelling on too short notice and charging it anything without any explanation if insurance didn’t cover it. This office only cares about getting your credit card information and will turn you away if you don’t give it. The doctor obviously cuts corners by hiring the most inexperienced office staff who will «inform» you that credit card info is password-​protected. (Thanks for amazing information)
I will be consulting a lawyer as I can’t believe such practice is legal.

I was referred by my internist and went for a second opinion about post menopausal bleeding and having a hysteroscopy. I found the front office staff helpful. The doctor listened, made eye contact and when I explained the prior symptoms and asked more questions then my original gyno. He didn’t do a test that I said had just had done elsewhere and was awaiting results for, which I liked – both from a professionalism standpoint and not wasting health system $. We have a procedure scheduled in a week – due to a different recent other health matter and his desire to get this done sooner vs. later even though I was happy to wait a couple more weeks. He said he would come in earlier that day to get me in vs. postpone.
I almost cancelled my appointment based on some of the Unilocal so thought he deserved a rebuttal.

It is true that Dr. Levey is not super sensitive and may even be kind of a bro. But he is a true expert in pelvic pain. I went to so many doctors and suffered for years with vulvodynia before I came to see Dr. Levey. I wish I had seen him five years ago — it would have saved me so much time, money, stress, and pain.
I was hugely skeptical at our first appointment, when he told me he could eliminate my pain before my wedding this year. But within six months, he has virtually cured all my issues. He had ideas and strategies for alleviating my pain that no other doctor had tried or even knew about. Thanks to Dr. Levey, I’m going to have a normal, pain-​free honeymoon.
Bottom line: If you’re looking for someone to empathize and listen to your feelings, don’t go to Dr. Levey. If you’re looking for someone to fix your vagina, go to Dr. Levey.

I wish I could recommend this guy more strongly. I have so many friends who are ISO a good gyn surgeon who could deal with «special issues» i.e. fibroids, pain, endometriosis… But i don’t think this is the guy. I’m sure he’s competent, experienced, and straightforward but his demeanor is just not, hum, fully satisfactory… He’s always rushed, does not listen at all, wants you to leave quickly, and does not remember what your issue is (even after repeated visits and explanations, everytime we’re back to square one. i don’t expect him to remember «me» but don’t doctors have notes about patients?). On top of that the office asks you to put down your credit card to charge you directly if your insurance does not pay… while i understand that they need to be paid, i have never seen this in any other doctor’s office i’ve ever been to. Combined with his demeanor, it kind of too clear that they want your money. Not very pleasant.

I was referred to Dr. Levey to perform a robotically-​assisted laparoscopic myomectomy. Which he did, and it went really well. The fibroid is gone, and my scars are healing nicely.
I was a bit put off my his bedside manner and emailing skills. He’s overconfident, which can often make you insecure about asking questions. But I recognized this and starting being a bit stronger with my questions. He doesn’t always answer all your questions over email, which can be very frustrating.
After my whole ordeal was over, he handed me a card and asked me to write some online reviews. I think that’s pretty tacky, indicating he might care more about business than helping people, but here I am writing a review.

Do not waste your time here. I was referred to Dr. Levey with a chronic pain issue that I’ve been dealing with for the last three years. He insisted on doing a biopsy for a condition that I clearly didn’t have but said that it would provide some other important information that could be helpful with my diagnosis. I was desperate to get better, so I stupidly allowed him to take the biopsy. After I suffered complications, he then told me that I was a good candidate for a very controversial surgery.
Fast forward, and I’ve been dealing with complications ever since. Luckily, I had the sense to not allow him to do the surgery and had three «second opinions» after the fact. All confirmed that I absolutely did not need the biopsy (which caused me so much pain) in the first place, nor did I need the surgery. I have regretted every minute of time and dollar that I spent at that office. Please don’t go down the same road I did and instead try to find a more holistic doctor who does not go immediately to the knife for a solution.

I was recommended to Dr. Levey by my (frankly pretty terrible) gynecologist for a rapidly growing fibroid that I have been dealing with complications from since I was 11. I’m only 30 and most doctors would have pressured me to get only the fibroid removed so I can have sooo many babies and what would my future husband think blah blah blah. But Dr. Levey really listened to me when I said I didn’t want children and that I needed a hysterectomy, he didn’t condescend to me or try to talk me out of it which I’ve heard is something many women have had to deal with. And he was very honest with me about the difference between the surgeries and letting me make the choice.
As for the surgery — Dr. Levey ran into a complication that I had been warned was a possibility. In every other case I have heard of where this complication exists, the surgeon is very quick to switch from the laporoscopic hysterectomy to the full abdominal cut. But Dr. Levey didn’t do this, he took several hours working on the laporoscopic hysterectomy which made my recovery time 2 weeks instead of 2 months.
Reading other reviews — yes, the waiting room is crowded and I’ve definitely had to wait a long time for an appointment which can be really annoying. However, rescheduling to earlier in the day helps and I would rather wait to get the best doctor. Billing was also an issue, but that was an issue with all the doctors involved in this so I’m not going to blast this office for what seems to be happening all over the place.
And as for Dr. Levey’s bedside manner — I guess he can be a bit brusque? But I found him to be very friendly and super confident. When you’re about to have major surgery the last thing I want is my hand held (by anyone who isn’t my mom), I want someone who looks like he knows what he’s doing. And after every doctor and every nurse who examined me looked surprised and shocked by the severity of my condition, it was nice to meet someone who said «I do this every day, don’t worry about it at all.»

I want to start off by saying I love the area this office is in.
There is a long wait to see the doctors but only because they take their time wit you and really listen and sit down with you.
I love Dr. Levy he’s very professional and you can tell he knows what he is talking about. I feel at comfort knowing I am under his care. I also had an incident with my insurance and the billing lady Tony (not sure exact name) was such a wonderful person and she helped me sooo much. She showed a lot of patience. The other lady who works there linn is such an amazing person she even called me back on my birthday just to leave me a message. Love this office!!! I highly recommend it ! It is a bit pricey with no insurance but you get what you pay for, and their worth it!

So… Um no… We are talking about your lady parts people, read the reviews and really, this isn’t for you.
I went to Dr. Levey a few times now and won’t be going back, am actually going to see another doctor to have the procedure done due to the following serious issues with this doctor and this office.
1) The office staff. About as unpleasant and unhelpful as you can get. I was trying to schedule a follow up and she kept giving me dates that I kept repeating «I will be out of town from blank through blank», nope, didn’t matter, kept coming back with a date in that window. After 15 mintues she FINALLY got it but then couldn’t fit me in for a month and a half. okay…
2) There is at any given time atleast a 30 minute wait and usually over an hour from your appointment time. I was the first appointment at 9AM and waited just about 40 minutes, the doctor didn’t actually walk in until 9:30AM so I’m not sure why he has 9AM appointments when he isn’t in the office until 9:30AM…
3) The charging system WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY! I still cannot figure out why I was charged so much, without ever being told, when my insurance covers almost everything… Honestly, I still cannot figure it out. All the sudden I was getting charges on my card, which is mandatory you leave with them when you become a patient, and the charges were several hundred dollars which it looks like my insurance paid but again, revert back to point 1, the office staff is completely unhelpful and useless so I still can’t resolve and think I am just out about $ 1400 in unexplained charges… And what doctors office do you go to that just charges your card without ever telling you what it is for?
4) The doctor himself. He doesn’t seem to care about his patients and please don’t try and tell him how you feel, it annoys him and interrupts him hearing his own voice.
All in all ladies, take your who-​ha to a real gynecologist who makes you feel comfortable, doesn’t see you as his endless piggy bank, and has a reception and billing team that can actually do their job.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND NY PELVIC PAIN!!!
Let’s start with the front office. When you go in for your first appointment, they force you to give a credit card «just in case» your insurance doesn’t pay for a visit. They also make you sign a contract saying they can charge you whenever they want and don’t even have to tell you (apparently up to $ 250 at a time). This is a ridiculous practice that should not be allowed. But hey, I had insurance and it should cover everything, right?
I had some billing issues the entire time I went to that office. They made a mistake and used the wrong billing code when submitting to my insurance company. Instead of bringing this to my attention, they just never said anything about it. If they don’t say anything, how am I supposed to fix it? So finally, 8 months after my first appointment, I ask what the deal is. They say they submitted the claims and they were denied. Then they force me to go outside into the hallway to call my insurance company before I could be seen by the doctor for my appointment (after I had already waited for an hour in the waiting room). Once I get it all straightened out, they say they’ll take care of it. A few weeks later, I notice my credit card has been charged (without any notification or consent from me). When I call to figure out the problem, not only is it EXTREMELY difficult to get the office to pick up, but when I do, they leave me stuck on hold while they’re «transferring» me to billing. Billing is the woman sitting right next to the lady who picked up the phone to start with… why does it take more than 10 minutes of me listening to the same bad music over and over again only to hang up and call back because no one is answering just to get someone to talk to me? RIDICULOUS. Then the billing woman promises to call me back after I’ve emailed her proof that my insurance company has paid. Now they must be screening my calls because I’ve tried their office 4 times and no one has answered. God forbid it was a medical emergency. Great patient care.
Now let’s switch over to Dr. Levey. His demeanor is just like most others have said… he’s abrupt and arrogant. At first I thought, well, he knows what he’s doing, so I can get over his lack of empathy. But eventually it just left me feeling like he didn’t really care. Actually, if his office wasn’t so bad, I might have considered giving him 2 stars because he did help solve one part to a very complicated problem, but the whole experience knocks him back to one.
His practice says that treatment can include psychologists, physical therapists, etc. But when asked who he would recommend, he doesn’t have any names to give. How does that make any sense?
I never felt like he really listened to me. The nurse would come in, take my blood pressure, and ask what I wanted to talk about. Then Dr. Levey would come in, read the notes the nurse took, and then he’d make up his mind before he even talked to me. On a very good day, he’d spend maybe 10 minutes in the room, even though I always waited for at least an hour to get in to see him.
I also felt like he had a predetermined plan of how to treat my issues without factoring in what I thought would work for my body and my life. He constantly pushed surgery on me, even though I said I wasn’t comfortable with that option. When I finally told him I would no longer be coming back, he acted like… if he wasn’t going to be the one treating me, he didn’t want to even finish the followup that HE asked for. This healthcare experience was one of the worst I’ve had. Going to a gynecologist is already an uncomfortable experience. Is it too much to ask that they don’t make it even worse?

Pressured into a surgery I didn’t need and left with twice as many scars. Dr. Edward Scissor Hands who just wants your money.

I was referred to Dr. Levey by my gynecologist, for a specific issue he’d supposedly be able to help me with when my own gyno had ran out of options.
So off I went and saw Dr. Levey after spending a significant time in his waiting room. Guess he is a busy man. The issue I was dealing with is one that has bothered me for nearly all my life, and one that no doctor had been able to diagnose. I hoped Dr. Levey might be different. Well, he was different, in the way that he had the most terrible bedside manner of any doctor I have ever seen. He clinically diagnosed me with a condition he did not care to explain at that moment (which, upon googling later, I found out was in fact a really scary one). When I asked questions, he did not want to answer them, and then got up from his desk and opened the door, to signal our conversation was over. He also berated his assistant twice, in my presence. Lastly, the clinical diagnosis turned out to be wrong. But by that time, I had already lost a month’s sleep over it.
I will never go back to him.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND NY Pelvic Pain because of all the hassle I have gone through and continue to go through with their office. They make you put down a debit/​credit card on file and if they even think that insurance didn’t come through they charge an enormous amount of money WITHOUT telling you!
This is what happened to me. I had a standard visit and the next day $ 400 was withdrawn out of my account without my knowledge or consent.
I remember asking the secretary at the time why they needed my card on file and she said, in the most condescending voice, it was «just in case» I would have never dreamed they would actually take out such a large amount of money
1) without asking and
2) without finding out if insurance was really going to pay
It’s been 2 weeks since my insurance sent them a check that they ALREADY CASHED and STILL they haven’t given my money back.
I’ve had to go out of my way and spend at least half hour on the phone talking to the same girl EVERYDAY who kept giving me a run around. She would tell me things like «the accountant isn’t in this week» or «it happens to be my boss is in a meeting now» and «I’ll call you later today» and NEVER DID.
How convenient!
The only thing that solved my problem was calling up my insurance and asking them to personally harass them until they gave me my money. I’m still waiting for my check.
Also they tried charging my insurance for 2 visits when i only had one! None of this is ethical or normal practice. BE AWARE!

Very unprofessional. First upon arrival, once i was FINALLY called back to the office I was told by the doctor that he had a flight to catch so we were going to have to make this fast. (So don’t schedule an appointment if you are going on vacation…). Nothing quite like making your patients feel important.
Then, he made disparaging remarks about «all of the other doctors I’ve ever seen» (he was my 3^rd opinion on a chronic issues) — not professional.
Lastly, after leaving (and deciding never to return) I got a bill for Mental Health services. He bills insurance for your consultation as mental health. I’m convinced this is insurance fraud. Moreover, since I of course didn’t have the foresight to get a preauthorization from my PCP for this, I had to pay. Since when is the consultation MENTAL HEALTH? I’ve seen more than my fair share of doctors and this is NOT routine practice and, in my opinion, not acceptable.

She is very gentle, sweet, and best of all does not judge.
Sometimes it is difficult to come clean with your doctor why you are there. When I met her the first time, she said, very softly, so tell me, what happened? And she did not make a face or change her tone when I told her. She gave me an overview of what needed to happen, ran some tests, and reassured me it would be ok. And it was OK.
I trust her.
