Kung Fu Tea

Yummy hot taro milk tea with bubbles! Very small inside and it’s cash only. The bubbles were super soft and chewy like good tapioca should be. They mentioned that this location was closing permanently on Friday, 2/​28, though.

Went in this afternoon around 1:30, they were open for approximately a half hour or so by then.
I ordered a large milk bubble tea and a large taro bubble tea. Both were made delicious for the record.
There was one guy working who was polite and said to me «Would you mind waiting 5 minutes for the bubbles?» and I said «sure.» I didn’t mind waiting I was in no rush. However I was only in there for 5 minutes at most all together which means it took only a minute or so for the bubbles.
Both drinks cost me $ 9.00
The franchise is tiny! One bench to wait for your drinks and two stools by the window to sit inside.
Overall, a pleasant experience and will be returning. Excited to try out other locations as well.

This franchise is tiny. There was only one person doing everything, taking orders, cashiering and making the drinks. I ordered the hot matcha milk tea but they only had the hot matcha milk. I went ahead with it but the powder wasn’t mixed in well and it left a very bitter aftertaste. Matcha is supposed to be a bit bitter but this was unpleasant.
The service was good. The guy isn’t very talkative and friendly but he’s helpful. A female employee that came in was very nice and gave me a cup holder and bag for the drinks. :)
Felt bad for the one guy who had to wait a while to be helped.
Unfortunately they don’t have frequent buyer cards at this location.
I think today’s experience here was a small hiccup. Kung fu tea still makes the best bubble milk tea I’ve ever tasted.

Pretty good. I don’t personally like boba so I didn’t really get any, but the milk tea was pretty good. :) From the two bubbles I drank from my friend’s drink, I guess they were fresh and not too chewy.
This is a small place though and once there are more than 4 people in the front area, it feels really crowded and cramped. Otherwise, I dig it. :)

I am a fan of Kungfu and had their teas all the time when I lived in Flushing, but this place was more than disappointing.
— The place is small and fills up fast.
— All the workers seemed confused and did not know what they were doing. While waiting for my drink, I saw them mess up two orders and confuse the quantities of two others. Ridiculous.
— I ordered ONE bubble tea, and waited 12 minutes for just ONE tea. They completely skipped over my order, and when they got around to it, made it wrong the first time. I thought they’d get it right the second time, but it was still incorrect. By then I was already fed up and decided to just leave.
— The place is clean. One star for cleanliness.
Really did not think I would ever have THIS horrible of an experience at a bubble tea shop. Never again, Kungfu Tea… never again.

While the tea in NY does not compare to the tea in California, Kung Fu Tea is definitely one of the better tea joints in NYC.
Drinks here are usually pretty sweet, and you can tell them your preferred sugar amount. The «bubbles» are dipped in honey and are delicious and chewy. Try the milk tea or passion fruit green tea.
Other than a bench outside, there is no place to sit and is more of a to-​go place.
Do not expect good service or English. This is a Chinese take out place for drinks.

I don’t know what else to say except that the tapioca balls here are soaked in honey or something, so deliciously sweet they are. Plus, they are the perfect texture of bounciness and yield. So good. I kind of wish they would give me less milk and more tapioca. But they never do.
You can change your sugar preference. You can even adjust your ice level. But they won’t give you a higher boba to milk ratio. What’s up with that?

The day I stopped by with the bf and his coworkers, the place could not make half of the drinks we requested (we must have come in at a bad time). It is very small inside. The taro slushie I got was still just as good though, with only a little sweetness. Their bubbles are always the perfect consistency.

Once you get past the workers that hate life, you’re OK.
The pros of Kung Fu Tea:
— you can adjust your sugar
— there’s a lot of variety to choose from
— many add-​ins other than boba, such as pudding, jelly, sweet beans
— regular and a huge large size
— bubbles that are chewy and taste like honey
The location is close to home, so I prefer this place over Sts. Alps, but not really the greatest out there. Cash only!

Was near by and decided to grab a drink… two major signs NOT to go back…
(1) did not look sanitary
a random guy just happened to be bringing in packages into to the store, just unloads them onto the floor, and walks behind the counter to start making drinks… WTH!?! did he even wash his hands!?! I doubt so… I wonder how they passed the sanitary inspection and got an A (doubt that letter will stay for long if that continues)
(2) service was a joke
the girl at the register caught an attitude with me… she literally rolled her eyes at me when i had her repeat herself… i clearly could not hear what she was mumbling to me and turns out, neither did others she took orders from after me LOL I stood by and watched her interact with others and they also had a hard time hearing what she was trying to ask… honestly, if she doesn’t want to work there, i’m sure any other fast food chains would take her in to work in the back!!!

Decided to make this my lunch one day and wanted to drop in for two drinks. Kung Fu Tea is my favorite bubble tea franchise in the history of bubble tea. It kicks a$$, hence the name. But this location, this location tries to do a round house kick and ends up with a pulled muscle and face in the dirt.
First off, it’s nice that there’s a location other than the ones in Manhattan’s Chinatown and Flushing. But in order to be truly convenient, it has to operate efficiently. When I arrived, it was a weekday around 2 pm. There was a line of 6 in front of me. I waited 45 minutes for my turn and for my drinks to be ready. In that amount of time, I could have commuted to Queens and maybe get halfway back to the city. That’s insane!
It started with one employee at the counter, and the other decided he was done playing Candy Crush in the back room or something. The other locations have 4 or 5 employees working at a time within similar or smaller parameters with more than a dozen people waiting, and their turnaround rate for drinks is three times as fast!
The employees need to work faster and be PRESENT! Stop chilling; JdF can’t wait around that long for her drinks every time.

came back to try the TARO MILK TEA since i was craving it & this place was open later than another spot i tried to go to!

Kung Fu, you’re close by, but even with the convenience i’ve got to refrain!

I am from LA and we have a lot of boba places so I know what is good boba. Well, I also have an addiction to boba. I came here to get boba green milk tea because I have been deprived. I moved to Boston recently and there is no good boba places… so when I was in New York one weekend, I was really desperate. I Unilocaled some tea places and this showed up. I ordered my drink all sniffing and twitching. like an addict would do and when I took the first sip, my eyes lit up! (ok, the sniffling and twitching part didn’t really happened)
The boba is chewy and sweetened, which is exactly how boba should taste like. I ordered the green milk tea with less sugar (70% sweetened). The sweetness was perfect, the tea flavor could be stronger. Overall the drink is milky, and it depends on if you like more milk or tea in your milk tea… I personally like more tea flavor so there is room for improvement.
The service was quick and they made the drinks really fast. If you know places like Half and Half, Honey Boba… they take forever to get your drinks ready. Trust me, this place is really good! I had it everyday I was in New York! I wanted to somehow smuggle some drinks back with me to Boston too, but wouldn’t work out.

The teas here are actually really good, and there are a billion ways to order up.
The bubbles here are done perfectly, and the tea is just right. Service is a bit lackluster during certain hours of the day, but for the most part it’s fine. Good place to pop in and out for your bubble tea fix.

I came in on labor day and it was pretty empty. They didn’t have enough of the japanese yogurt for the yogurt grape fruit drink which was a let down. This was my first time going to a kft and that sounded awesome. As an alternative, I just ordered the regular grapefruit tea sans bubbles and fellow compatriot, being a kft veteran, ordered the standard milk tea w/​bubbles.
The grapefruit juice was fresh squeezed and delicious. It was tart and sweet, with actual pieces of grapefruit in it. I also tried the milk tea w/​tapioca and this was amazing too. The milk tea was made from fresh tea and milk I believe, it didn’t have that distinct powder after taste. You could taste the actual tea in it. The tapioca balls were sweet with the perfect amount of squishy, not too hard or soft, absolutely perfect.
All in all, it was a great experience. They just need to oil the two bar stools they have there. they were squeaky and I have this thing where, while I“m not fat, if a stool squeaks I feel like a fatass. Do something about it, eh?!

Not bad! I got the Kung Fu Milk Tea which was not bad! The only bubble tea I had tried before was Saints Alp and T-​Kettle (which supposedly is not good bubble tea, but I wouldn’t know because I’ve never had it from anywhere else). This bubble tea actually tasted tea-​y and not as milky. It was good! I like.

This place has pretty good bubble tea, their menu reminds me of what I could get back in Asia.
Must try their Wow Milk, which is made out of fresh milk instead of powder. You could see them actually pouring fresh milk into your drink! Winning. Prices are alright, not the cheapest around town but pretty good for what you could get in east village. Their cups are bigger than the ones you get from saint alps.
The red bean wow milk is yums, you also get to choose how sweet you want your drink to be (so Asian, a plus!). From the Unilocalers’ reviews, i was a little disappointed with their boba. The bobas were a little too soft. Their boba was better the second time i went. Just can’t go wrong with ordering red bean and boba and (fresh milk) tea!
I also had their long an and red date tea + grass jelly, $ 4.00 for medium size (+$ 0.5 for jelly, yay!). I would recommend this drink if you like those traditional chinese-​y healthy tasting tea flavors (ones your mom would drink). The drink was light but a little sweet, in a good way. The syrup (actual long an and red date fruits) was scooped out of a big jar. Anyhow, it was a soothing combination!
Overall, will come again, and already did. Great beverage list and everything is freshly made from the fobby bubble tea shaker machine (whereas at quickly’s, their milk teas are pre-​made and scooped out of their refrigerated container, no bueno!).

The boba here is OK here and is on the more expensive side — but then again, everything in Manhattan is expensive. The tapioca balls were just the right consistency – chewy but not too hard, perfect for a boba fight. The tea was pretty good and flavorful. I had ordered taro boba milk tea, and it tasted like any normal taro milk tea you’d get from T-​kettle or St. Alp’s — so nothing special there. I usually like my taro milk tea to have a creamy and milky consistency, but KFT’s lacked what I was looking for.
My friend had ordered a milk tea with herbal jelly and boba. Each added item is 50 cents extra. This is kind of a rip off because you get charged for each individual added item (so for herbal jelly and boba = $ 1 more) even when the amount filled in the cup is equal to just if you had ordered one extra item. Imagine if you wanted other items added, you’d be paying $ 2 – 3 more just to have a mixture of add-ins…meaning this could essentially equal one expensive boba milk tea.
The place was serviced by two Asian fobby guys chitchatting and messing around while getting our orders in, which wasn’t very professional. The place also doesn’t have anywhere to sit, so KFT is meant for boba-​on-​the-​go!
Overall, I give KFT 3 stars, solely due to the above average flavor of tea and great consistency of their boba balls. They would get an extra star if they exemplified a little more professionalism (after all, this is a business establishment!) and if the add-​ins «policy» wasn’t so expensive (having a flat rate for add-​ins, versus being charged for each individual item).

Kung Fu Tea has not restocked their frequent buyer card and they don’t even offer gift cards. The past few visits have been disappointing.

I would come here often since it’s close to Palladium and not too far of a walk. The drinks gave this place four stars, else I would have given it 3 stars.
