OMG. SO. DELICIOUS. First and foremost, you walk in there and it smells like a home kitchen brewing with all sorts of amazing flavors. It’s a small spot with a few tables and some counter barstools. As a tip, go to the left counter to order(where the food is) and then go to the right counter to pay. If you don’t speak Spanish, don’t worry, they’re perfectly happy to help you out in English. Just be patient as there may be a few people ahead of you when you get there, so it just may take a little while to order but someone will get to you within a reasonable amount of time. I got a quarter chicken with yellow rice and black beans for only $ 6. And it’s LOADED with flavor. The baked chicken is tender and so juicy — SLIDE-RIGHT-OFF-THE-BONE juicy. My only regret? Not getting the half chicken! :(This place definitely has a soft spot on my heart and in my stomach. Service with a smile and food made with love for the entire neighborhood.

Excellent Home made food, great prices and good vibe. You can have a powerful and tasty plate for only $ 6. That doesn’t happen too often in NY. Highly recommend!

I really like the food here, and I normally get treated nicely and get a heap load of food but I brought in my friend here and once she started speaking to them to order a cup of coffee, they started treating us badly and my friend told me they were talking badly about her in the kitchen because she’s colombian. Apparently Dominicans hate colombians but please refrain from treating your customers badly because of race. The lady ignored me when I was going to pay for my order and didn’t give me a check and completely ignored both of us since I was friends with her. I had to go up to the front and ask for my check but they usually give it to you at the table or bar.

The ordering service for delivery was horrible The order taker spoke no English, hung up twice and used the word morena which I took offense worst experience ever ! I haven’t received the food yet so I can’t speak on that just yet, it’s been 40 minutes and still no food and I can’t get through to their line

Why are they so mean? And you have to pay for the mojito(garlic sauce) that comes standard with a roast chicken. The only person there who is consistently nice is the guy who makes the sandwiches albeit he is slowwwwww. LoL

Went three times, walked out unattended twice. The second time I waited food was ok, more rice than anything and more expensive than the menu(I feel like I’m being overcharged at every place on Broadway…) Third time I walked out again due to being ignored. Lady behind the counter has an attitude as well.

I would give 3.5 stars if possible. The coffee is great. I like it strong. And it is also a great price. The chicken soup is a staple. Pretty tasty. The rotisserie chicken, Each time I’ve had it has been extremely dry. Or they don’t have white meat.(Which is my preference) They give you tons of rice and beans so the meal can last for two meals. The Cuban sandwich was NOT good in any way. Since this sandwich appears a huge part of their business(based on the amount of people I see order it while I’m in the place) I thought it was going to be delicious. It was not. Customer service is lacking. It appears that the women servers are much nicer to men. They often talk amongst each other for a bit before even acknowledging you. Also there’s no real order in terms of whose order they take. You could potentially be standing there before others, and somehow get passed over several times. If it wasn’t for the coffee I would only give it 1.5 stars.

I was a regular at Flor de Broadway and for a while they were pretty good, but I don’t know what happened the last few times I went. They were very unorganized, they had me wait and wait and wait meanwhile new customers came in and and were being served while I waited to be attended. The food got bad as well, way to much salt. The last time I went I was literally sitting on he counter waiting to be served and waited about ten minutes before I asked to be helped and then one of the rude waiters said that I have to wait… fine. I waited and when I was finally served, the chicken stew looked disgusting and I wasn’t even offered a beverage. I’m a regular at Mofongo del Valle now, much better food and overall better customer service.

All I’ve ever gotten was the lunch special — white rice, beans, roasted chicken, and plantains. About $ 6 now, good value if you’re hungry. As others mentioned, they give priority to Spanish-speaking customers, so if you are a non-Spanish speaker you should expect poor service. Spanish-speaking customers will yell over you in their native tongue to get their food first, and the servers allow this to happen. Awful environment to eat in, bootleggers constantly trying to sell DVDs and everyones yelling all the time, and there are seats for maybe 12 total. Would only recommend if you’re really hungry, don’t want to spend much money, and enjoy being disrespected by customers and the staff.

I wish I could give zero stars to this restaurant. The food is relatively cheap but the service is the absolute WORST. I’ve came here often enough to say that the servers are too slow and incompetent. If you don’t speak spanish, it seems like they don’t even want to take your order! EVERY single time I’ve came here and waited online, there has been some older man that comes in and shouts his order, or cuts to the front of the line, and the staff just lets him! It’s ridiculous and embarrassing. All the trouble is not worth it –go somewhere else for your lunch.

I never ever had a bad experience ordering through the phone. Let me tell you, the food is delicious and all but that service they got is TERRIBLE! I called to place an order. The lady at first was amiable and took my order very quick. Forty five minutes and I called to ask what was going on with my food because I was so hungry. She said that the«pescado al horno» was already finished. My question is why she did not called before and explained this situation. She said«the chef is making the pescado right now» and if I could give them more time. Well HELLO I WASHUNGRYTHATISWHY I ORDEREDTHEFOODTHATWASALREADYDONE! I wouldn’t mind waiting another 20 maybe 30 minutes. But the way she was talking was really uncomfortable and annoying. I told her to cancel my order. She just said«bye» with a very rude tone. I called back because the food was already charged and I wanted to speak to either a manager or someone besides her. Her tone became calmed and she was acting all delicate and patient. The owner or the manager need to control the people that work here. If not… This place will lose customers. The food is delicious but the people that works here, ugh! Really?!

BEWARE!!! The manager is a money hungry, rude, disrespectful lady. My co worker and I walked in today for lunch. We grabbed menus and decided on the garlic shrimp LUNCHSPECIAL, which was a Friday special listed for $ 7! I walked up to the waiter and POINTED at the meal on the menu and ordered two orders of the shrimp. Speeding up to the moment we ask for the check. My co worker grabs the $ 18 check and goes pay. Top our surprise the $ 18 check was per meal. We were confused… we ordered two $ 7 meals plus am order of maduros. How is each meal $ 18!!! I kindly tried to speak to the manager and asked what had changed from the price listed on the menu to the price on the check. She rolls get eyes and says«you’re complaining now after you ate the food»? Are you kidding me?! So I grabbed the menu and physical and verbally told her how my conversation went with the waitress. She could care less. She called the waitress over and when I confronted her she lied through her teeth. She said she told me that the food was coming from the back. What the heck does that mean? Do I work there to know what that means? Doesn’t all the food come from the back aka kitchen? After going back and forth the manager didn’t care to apologize or anything. Another waitress apologized which I told her it wasn’t her fault. So we ended up paying $ 18 for a $ 7 lunch special. So unhappy. The manager is horrible and has no customer service skills at all. I will never go back. Zero stars!!!

This place looks like just another old hole in the wall BUT this place is no ordinary hole in the wall !! No sir, this place is awesome! Their Dominican breakfast 3 golpes is always yummy, the coffee is also on point! Morí soñando and their Cubans sandwich should be on your MUST try list. Now that being said, the place inside isn’t very nice. It’s does seem like a clean restaurant but I was super heartbroken when I saw the B rating on the door. their breakfast and Cubans are so good I’m going to try to pretend I didn’t see that ! It’s pretty small inside and when it get crowded it gets pretty loud. So if you are not used to being in the middle of a whole bunch loud Spanish people I’d recommend you take your food to go.

Finally got to try this place and am glad I did! Had the black beans with rice and chicken which were delightful. Rice serving was generous as well. I enjoyed the plantains which were done just right, and for just $ 6 one cannot complain.

Great food. I moved in the area a year ago and recently decided to try this place out on account of how packed it always appears inside. So far I’ve had the goat, pork chops and chicken. All delicious, and they give generous portions without breaking your wallet. I speak no Spanish but have always been able to call in delivery orders with no problems. The people there are friendly and patient. Highly recommended!

Underrated. BESTCUBANOINNYC! Cuban sandwiches should not be overdone. Simplicity is key. They keep them thin and press them. Just fantastic. I buy mine and eat it at the park over the highway to the west of the restaurant. The restaurant is friendly and family owned.

Most Dominican restaurants aren’t nearly as good as homemade but this one comes pretty close. Their sancocho is great. Order that with some white rice and avocado and you’re set.

So this place might seem confusing at first because you don’t know how/where to order, but don’t fret! You place your order with one of the workers behind the stool area where all the food is placed. There isn’t a really good place to stand and place your order, but wait patiently and eventually someone will take your order. I came here during lunchtime and the place is packed, so service was slow, but surprisingly the waitresses have good memory and eventually what you ask for will be done. I sat in the bar stool conveniently in front of the food and people come and go. Not the cleanest place I’ve been too, but it sufficed. I had the joy of ordering the tilapia with rice & beans and plantains and the chicken soup. The soup is phenomenal. For just 3.50, you get a huge entrée sized bowl. The chicken is cooked really long and in turn super soft and yummy. It has a bit of squash, carrots, noodles, and some other vegetables. I love the taste when you combine it with some of the lime. The tilapia was average. It was a bit overcooked, but since they make it in big batches, it’s understandable because it’ll be hard to control. I really liked the sauce though it was sweet and creamy with a hint of coconut. It went really well with the beans that were also pretty soupy. Plantains are always a nice edition and they give you a huge portion of rice. Love the concept of a Caribbean(?) diner! Cheap, good portions, and unique taste profiles.

This is a good spot if you are a local. I came here for the lunch special and got a chicken and rice plate for $ 6. This lasted me for two meals and I was surprised because I usually eat a lot. The plate came with beans and fried plantains which was a plus. The lunch crowd was a ton of locals who had great looking plated. To be honest I wanted a different meat but had a communication barrier– my problem not theirs.
