Great spot for grabbing some after work drinks! The tapas are pricey, about $ 20+ per plate. Drinks range from $ 10 – 20 per glass and the mixed ones have quite the kick ;-) They have an indoor bar inside on the 1st floor as well as a rooftop during the summers. I think I found my new spot!

Attended a work function here earlier this month. Food available here was above average and was delicious. Meats were tender and juicy. Mashed potatoes had a good consistency and flavor. Dessert cakes were visually appealing, but the taste was average. I found the chocolate dipped strawberries to be my favorite dessert item. The atmosphere is laid back and posh. There is a small interior area with several booths and short tables which are perfect to enjoy drinks, but a bit uncomfortable to eat a meal on. Only a small part of the outdoor deck was opened since it was December, but it did appear that during warmer weather there would be plenty of room since the deck wrapped all the way around the building. The views were ok. The best shot was of a building to the east that was illuminated in purple lights(grand central station, I think). Only bad part was that the bartender at this particular event did not seem to know some of the basic drinks such as an old fashioned and a Shirley temple. Would return again to check this place out during warmer weather.

Nice rooftop bar/lounge. Drinks were ok and pricey, for the most part. The environment is perfect to spend after work, with a unique and splendid view of the city.

This place has really nice view of the City but drinks are expensive. Though that is pretty typical for a NYC rooftop bar. You’re gonna pay a premium for the view. Waitress was pretty quick with the menu, drinks and the check. Good crowd of young professionals, older businessmen and tourists. I was pleased with my creamy ale. According to my friend, the sangria was awful so don’t order that. Overall, a decent place in midtown to unwind with coworkers or friends on a sunny evening.

Horrible service. The whole rooftop was empty and they would not let us sit on a couch because they said it was reserved. There were 20 empty couches available and hardly anyone there. Horrible staff.

My friend and I just came from here and had the worst service ever! We were at a table and our waitress was slow and rude all night and we waited about an hour for our check. We finally had to go to the bar ourselves and ask for the check in order to pay. Then we were told that she had left for the night! She just went home without telling us or closing our tab! The manager heard our complaints and did nothing. Luckily one of the servers who overheard our complaints, Bianca, ran our tab, apologized and gave us free shots. Thanks so much, Bianca, but that is your manager’s job. Maybe she needs to be promoted. Anyway… I would have expected more for spending over $ 150 on drinks and apps for 2. Bianca– thanks! To our waitress & the manager– you should be ashamed.

Service is extremely slow and the drinks were all made wrong. If the menu lists watermelon as an ingredient, you should not put strawberries in it — as someone might have an allergy. Other than that — view is pretty decent. Lots of outdoor space and indoor seating as well. But the setup is almost maze-like. It was tough to find where the bathroom was. But when I finally found it, it was clean. Probably won’t be back due to the service. Or if you go — head to the bar and get your drinks instead of waiting for a server to come over.

SO really wanted to go to a rooftop bar. This one was about a block from where we were, and he’s been there before a couple of times, so I decided to give it a try. Besides, who doesn’t like rooftop bars? The door says take the 45th street entrance after 6pm, but you don’t need to– the entrance for the bar is on 46th so just go through the revolving door and you’ll be greeted by a host and bouncer. They’ll card you and let you through into the back to catch an elevator to go upstairs. Not impressed. Really overpriced drinks– it’s mostly ice and my drink was disgusting. Had goose with a splash of cranberry– how can you even get that wrong? That plus a macallan was $ 36. Ridiculously overpriced for what they offer — place was soooo hectic, clustered, and filled with pretentious and snobby people. The view is meh, and the layout is atrocious. The whole place felt like a hallway. I chugged my drink and asked to leave. Bathroom was a mess– no soap. NOSOAP?! You people disgust me. It was only 7pm– that means the employees won’t be washing their hands after going to the restroom for the rest of the evening or perhaps never did from when they opened last night(Friday). The service is terrible and the bar is gross– the bartenders spill beer everywhere. I’ve been to countless rooftop bars and this place takes the lead for worst rooftop bar EVER. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough!

Caution. Line forms before the doors open. Doors do not open one second before the hours of operation. Most tables are already reserved. There is NO smoking section, contrary to reports by Cigar Affecionado.

Mad46 is a typical midtown rooftop bar with overpriced drinks and poor waitress service. My overall suggestion is to stay away from this establishment and choose an alternative midtown rooftop. I was there on a lovely spring day with 4 friends, the first night the rooftop was open for the season. We were lucky enough to get a table, which required us to to order through a waitress — which I normally prefer. Unfortunately, the staff had no sense of urgency or people skills. The waitress overcharged us for 2 items, refused to take back a food item we did not order, and added a 18% gratuity charge automatically to our table of 5. When checking the menu again, it clearly states that gratuity would only be added for 6 or more guests. When inquiring about the added gratuity and overcharging, I received a rude response and the waitress walked away. Speaking with a manager only aggregated the situation and I was told, in the manager’s experience, «In America, the customer is actually, usually wrong!» The overall complete lack of service, fluffing of checks, and poor customer service attitude trickling down from management all attributed to a potentially great evening gone bad. As you can probably tell, I will be taking my business elsewhere and I suggest you do the same.

This is one of my favorite happy hour spots. It’s fairly busy in the post work rush and then dies down to a nice quiet atmosphere later in the evening. The views aren’t spectacular but the décor and the couches are all very comfortable and relaxing. It’s a great spot to get together with co-workers for happy hour and enjoy a non-douchey rooftop. Will definitely continue coming!

Located inside The Roosevelt Hotel, mad46 is a rooftop bar. It was a bit confusing on how to get there considering that the entrance was located at the back of the hotel(near 46th street). You’ll enter an elevator which leads up to the bar. So I came in on a Tuesday night around 9:30 or so and it was a little difficult at first to find an open seat(even for just two people), but we eventually got one. Drinks were a bit pricy here… two Jack & Cokes… eh. Oh well, it is what it is! Bartender was pretty friendly, so that’s good. One thing I enjoyed about this place was the view. The vibe was really laid-back as well so that’s a good thing. I also liked how the crowd featured more mature people rather than the youngsters looking to get messed up. There’s also a «movie theater» which I thought was pretty unique. I think you need reservations, I’m not too sure, you might want to ask them. Nonetheless, mad46 is an okay spot to kick it if you have great company!

If you like pretentia, the«scene» and being seen, craptacular service and non-accommodating servers and management, then this place is for you. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, well, we’re all just on massive hallucinogenic drugs or something. But each time I’ve been here, it’s been a complete clusterFRACK. Here’s an idea, mad46. Instead of making things difficult for the people who visit there don’t offer the opportunity for your guests to reserve an area for large groups. If you do, require a credit card ONTHESPOT. Instead of putting the people who show up to an event where we’re told«You have a spot reserved» for payment. How about accommodating those who are told«this is a cash bar, your own money» to make several bills. I know you’re charging NINEFREAKINGDOLLARS for a Corona… you should at least be able to accommodate the folks who actually want to pay you for what amounts to an entire six pack. I know that I am way too GETOFFMYLAWN these days, but this place needs to really get the F*CK off my lawn. Every time, EVERYTIME, it’s a complete disaster and clusterf*ck and zero accountability with the management. Why this place gets any business whatsoever is beyond me. NEVER. AGAIN.

I went on a Tuesday afternoon and didn’t really expect much. The bartender either didn’t care or didn’t know what he was doing. 16 bucks for a Long Island which is Farely high but he not only didn’t have 5 different liqours(didn’t add gin) he poured so little alcohol that he filled most of the cup with soda instead of a splash. The next drink was worst felt like I drank 32 dollars worth of soda. Then he complained for a five dollar tip. Never again.

Located at the top of the Roosevelt Hotel, mad46 is a bit difficult to find… from the elevator leading to it, to the maze when you get off at the top floor, it’s certainly a quest filled with twists and turns. The drinks are insanely overpriced, even for Manhattan. However, you get an excellent view right in the middle of Midtown! The bartenders are helpful and friendly, but if you want to grab drinks on a rooftop, hit up a less touristy spot with normal drink prices.

The Roosevelt hotel’s Mad 46 rooftop lounge is a great hangout spot for their hotel guest and profeasionals for happy hour. Prior reviews mention the disinterest of the waitstaff and that’s because the hotel staff is unionized and waiters automatically receive their 18% gratuities whether their service is sub par or grand. Mad46 food options could be better quality and tasting for what the price(ie, $ 18 for exrreme SALTY guacamole and spicy chicken dips with tortilla chips) I’m a foodie and yes I expect more from a hotel than processed foods. Especially if youre asking me to pay your exaggerated price.

There are roof tops bars aplenty in Midtown, so why are folks heading to mad46? I’m still not entirely sure, but something tells me convenience, views, and the fact it’s on the top of one of Manhattan’s most well known hotels might be potential reasons. Those things alone might not be enough to sell anyone who knows the scene well. More often than not, it completely depends on the company. If you’re part of a corporate group /business oriented event, then the private space with whatever drink perk + catering might seem nice, especially during the work week and when the crowds are less DBaggy and intense. Weekend nights are always a different story. The major beef comes down to prices and service. This isn’t a place where the $ 10(and under) cocktail exists, not that anyone should be expecting this. What is more likely is a $ 14 – 18 drink that is poorly made and often times not very potent. Like any good place, try becoming friends with the bartender. Waitresses are not always the easiest to rope down, which becomes a bit of a pain when all you want to do is pay lots of money for a drink. I’m thinking a little more attentive wait staff and even an occasional happy hour pricing might do them quite well. On a view front, it’s not bad. Daytime and evening views are equally solid. Don’t be surprised if a handful(or an army) of tourists staying at the Roosevelt come out to enjoy the view and a drink. If the work crowd look to return here during the week, I might be down. Otherwise, I’d be mad to get my rooftop on at mad46.
