Dr. Tulpan’s specialties include issues related to diabetes and metabolism, such as thyroid disease, obesity, pituitary and adrenal gland disorders, osteoporosis, sexual dysfunction, PCOS and infertility. She offers consultation for weight loss and partners with a certified dietician (on premise). For all diabetic patients she offers testing with the continuous glucose monitoring sensor. She also performs thyroid and neck ultrasound and fine needle aspiration biopsies with ultrasound guidance of thyroid nodules, and draws blood at the time of the visit.

Dr. Tulpan takes pride in her individualized care of each patient and places great emphasis on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle as a complement to appropriate medical treatment. Her staff is professional and courteous. She offers low cash rates for self-​paying patients ($ 300 for initial consult, $ 150 for follow-​ups, $ 200 for thyroid US).

Dr. Tulpan is fluent in English, Romanian, French, speaks some Italian and Spanish. Mandarin and Cantonese are fluently spoken by a staff member.

Dr. Maria Tulpan started her private practice in 2003 with the purpose of offering individualized and more attentive care than it would usually be possible in a hospital setting. This allows her to offer reasonable fees and cash rates, particularly in today’s environment with increased direct patient’s expenses. For example, her rates for self-​pay patients are among the lowest in the area ($ 300 for initial consult, $ 150 for follow-​ups, $ 200 for thyroid ultrasound). Also, being an independent physician, gives Dr. Tulpan more freedom to set an accommodating schedule; her practice regular business hours are 8am-​5pm, with after hours and Saturday’s visits routinely available. Dr. Tulpan values her independence and relationships built with her patients over the years.

Dr. Maria Tulpan is a caring and attentive internist and endocrinologist located in midtown Manhattan, New York City, with over 15 years of clinical experience. She received her medical degree from Universitatea de Medicina si Farmacie Carol Davila, Bucharest, Romania, and completed her residency at Jacobi Medical Center, New York. She attended Yale University for a two year fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, where she was involved with research on Type I diabetes. She is board-​certified in endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism and internal medicine.

Originally from Romania, Dr. Tulpan strives for a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity, good and nutritious food, and a reasonable work-​life balance. She has a fondness for all things Italian, enjoys classical music, reading and spending time with family and friends. She is fluent in English, Romanian and French, and speaks some Italian and Spanish.
