Mr Clean Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning

These guys are all about the upsell to meaningless additional services that only serve to faten their bottom line. Avoid.

Hopeless. I should have read reviews before I bought a Lifebooker voucher. Hope that people will do this in future. Bait and switch operation. Very unprofessional.

So, to make a long story short, my dogs are sick again with Giardia. The vet gave us strict cleaning guidelines (and meds) to get rid of the contagious parasite from our home. So, our couch and area rug needed to be cleaned on the 5^th day (today). Prior to today, I had called a bunch of companies in NYC and tried getting estimates before picking a company. Makes sense, right? Anyway, here’s the text messages I got from David (718−614−5058) at Mr. Clean Carpet & Upholstery:
February 7:
Psycho Carpet Guy: Hi, This is MR. CLEAN CARPET & UPHOLSTERY– Sorry we didn’t have a a tech in ur area last night for a free estimate– pls call to reconfirm! Thanks, Daniel (9:10 AM)
(I called him back and we scheduled for him to come Thursday at 6PM)
February 9:
Psycho: Hi, This is MR. CLEAN CARPET & UPHOLSTERY– Are you still interested??? (9:21AM) Keep in mind that I had confirmed on the 7^th
Me: Yes. Please come tonight (4:51 PM)
Psycho: Can we do sunday pls (4:57 PM)
Me: Unfortunately, Sunday is too late. (5:01 PM) Remember that I needed someone on Friday.
Psycho: Tomorrow bet 12 – 2 PM (5:36 PM)
Me: I work until 5. But thank you. (7:11 PM)
Psycho: I’m so sorry (7:13 PM)

** I then proceed to call my back up, and schedule them for Friday**

0 Stars. This place is horrible. Complete «bait and switch». I refused to fall for their shenanigans but I assume many have. Do not use this company!!!

I purchased two vouchers on Lifebooker for basic steam cleaning @ $ 29 each, which seemed like a crazy good deal. I proceeded to call Mr. Clean and their automated phone service prompted me to leave a message, which I did, and I got a call back very quickly and set up the appointment for a Sunday morning time slot. I was assured that they would call me on Sunday before the appointment to confirm. Sunday rolled around and they did not show up. They did not even call. I called them and they said they were sorry, but they had the wrong date written down, and that they had it written down for the following Sunday. I was annoyed, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided that I could be available at that time. Once again, they did not show up, let alone call! I called them and asked them what the problem was this time, and they said they were having problems locating my apartment. Are you kidding me? How about trying at GPS? So my roommate and I decided to give them one last chance, to come this past Sunday. I don’t even know why we thought it would matter, as they once again did not show up or call. I called yesterday to complain and ask for my money back. The dispatcher was extremely apologetic and when I told him what happened, he literally said he was ashamed and that they really want my business. Really? Then why don’t you call your customers if you aren’t coming? He also told me that they no longer work in New Jersey, where I live. I said that when I purchased the deal, it stated that they do travel to New Jersey (Hoboken is not even that far from Manhattan anyway) but now they don’t go to New Jersey. Not my problem! I ordered the service when it did! He told me to call the next day after 10am to speak with «Daniel». I called today, got through to him, and about two seconds after me calmly and politely asking how I can get a refund, he did not say a single word and he hung up on me. Very classy! I tried calling back several times and going through the automated system, and it still goes through to voice mail. The bottom line here is I should have never purchased these vouchers, as the price is too good to be true, and should have never given them a 2^nd or 3^rd chance! Avoid this company, they are unprofessional and treat their customers like crap! And shame on Lifebooker, a site that I trusted, for not checking them out and endorsing their deal!

I saw a voucher online for $ 29 for $ 200 value of service, and called the company before I bought to see if it covered an oriental rug. I was told that it would UNLESS they had to ship it out, and that a guy would come to give me the estimate. The guy came when expected no problems with that. But when he got here he seemed very rushed and told
me that the $ 29 is for a quick steam clean and my carpet would be $ 150+. I asked lots of questions and found that for this $ 150, they would be able to clean the carpet in my home without shipping it out (so why not $ 29??). I did not want them to take my carpets out of my home (and now I’m glad I didn’t after the other reviews). The way the process was described seemed very thorough, and with all green non-​toxic chemicals) so I reluctantly agreed to the higher price (deep clean and deodorizer etc), When they came in with the machines, they said it would be $ 49 extra for something he had just told me would be included, so i said no. I had to say no about 3 times until he agreed to leave off that part of the service. The service, btw, was spraying TEFLON on my carpet after, which right away made me realize this is not pet-​safe non-​toxic chemicals as promised. But they had already started cleaning, so I let them finish (sans Teflon). $ 150 dollars and 15 min later, they left sopping wet carpets on our beautiful wood floor and left a huge stain in the carpet. Carpets looked OK when dried (not ruined, but the stains definitely not out). Really upset that 15 minutes of work cost me $ 150 despite voucher promise of $ 29 for $ 200 value. I felt very swindled.

I asked for an online estimate and received a call back from the company the same day. I only have one area rug to be cleaned and thought if I was having someone come out that I’d get the couch and club chair steam cleaned too. I was quoted $ 29-​$ 49! Of course I was thrilled so I scheduled the appointment. When the technician showed up, he quoted me $ 250 for the same job that had been quoted the day before. He told me that the dispatcher «isn’t an expert.» I said «then the dispatcher shouldn’t be giving quotes.» This is a situation where if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Classic bait and switch. I sent them home.

2 hours past the end of the 2 hour window they gave me, the guy calls and says that they are going to be late. These guys are jackasses and wasted half my saturday

I had an appalling experience with Mr. Clean last week. I made an appointment via email/​phone — this was a quick and easy process. Mr. Clean’s online service noted that I could have the first slot of the morning, 8 – 9 AM. I called three times between 8 and 8:55 and was told all three times that the driver would arrive by 9 AM. At 9:40 AM, a disheveled and hung over kid finally rolled up to my door. He inspected the spot on my sofa for 2 minutes and told me he could remove it and left to get his equipment. He then came back 5 minutes later to tell me that he wasn’t 100% sure he could get the stain out and thus didn’t want to even try. When I pushed him to explain what had changed and why they’d now wasted two hours of my time to reject my business, he became increasingly belligerent, raising his voice to drown out my questions and interrupting me at any chance. He made it clear that though he was expected to be at my apartment between 8 and 9, he wasn’t even awake at 8 AM. Thanks Mr. Clean, much appreciated for that!

googled this and the phone guy david seemed very nice and they were able to get someone to my place within a couple hours. i was scared when i saw the Unilocal review after i booked the appt but then found good reviews on google. i had my L-​sectional sofa cleaned mostly for smell, no stains so just a basic steam cleaning. the tech dan lugged up a big steam machine on wheels and a bucket which he filled with hot water from the sink. the machine is very noisy so try to have somewhere quiet to go since it takes about an hour. he also asked for 2 large towels to place the sofa cushions when they’re wet. i got the basic steam cleaning plus scotchguard for $ 210 (no tax if cash) for a microfiber suede material. the scotchguard smells citrus-​y. after the guy was done, there were a lot of wet puddles on the floor so be prepared to wipe some of that up and the scotch guard spray leaves splash splotches on the floor too which can just be wiped up. he also flushed the dirty water down the toilet after. everything dried completely overnight. i called several sofa cleaners and none of them could really give an estimate over the phone. they offer free on-​site estimates and the guy can do the cleaning that day. i didn’t want to bother with having several people coming in to do estimates. mr clean gives 15% off if you mention craigslist.

Wow. Where to start? I hired this company to clean my sectional. The guy shows up and immediately starts tossing my funiture around. And I mean tossing. Clothing, shoes. This is before he even gets to the living room where the sectional is. I have 3 dogs, which is why I need my sectional cleaned. The guy sees my dogs and proceeds to step on them without waiting for me to move them out of the way. He then takes his bucket to fill in my bathroom. He comes outside to the hallway and trips over his own feet spilling the entire bucket and soaking everything in sight. He didn’t even look back but said, «So what, everything gets wet». He then proceeded to pour water on my electrical appliances. He «cleaned» the sofa leaving behind all the stains and tons of hair, dog bones, hair clips and dirt in the crevices between the cushions. I made him go back and do it again and there were still spots that were completely dry. He never even cleaned them.
Super unprofessional, completely careless with your stuff and WAAAYYY overpriced. $ 200 for a shampoo for the couch that does not get rid of stains and debris. Unbeleivable. DO NOT USE.
