I am always in search for delicious halal food around my area for lunch. I stumbled upon Mr. Khan’s after seeing a long line of people so I decided to give a try. I love the fact that there are three different sizes Small = $ 5, Medium = $ 6 and Large = $ 7. When its finally my turn, I ordered a small lamb over yellow rice with vegetables and salad then topped with white sauce and hot sauce. Wow the sizes of the lamb are big. My tummy is indeed stuffed like a turkey hehe Definitely one of my favorite spots for lunch!

Pretty good place, they have 3 sizes($ 5-$ 7). Good portion size. Tried the combination over salad(lettuce, veggies, and tomatoes) with hotsauce/whitesauce and it didn’t have the flavor i know and love.

I only had fish and veggies here. And I do like it. You can have it in 2 sizes small or large. Which is a big plus for me, small is more than enough. They put different veggies(Broccoli, tomatoes, carrots and of course lettuce) and usually good portion not just one tiny piece of tomato like in other similar carts. And price is amazing. One of the few lunch spots with the price under $ 10

As far as street food goes, Mr Khan’s is by far the best one in midtown. Where else can you get a chicken salad that is loaded up with close to 1lb of chicken for only $ 5?! They have way more variety than most carts and the best prices around, and you can even eat fairly healthy there if you want since they have the option of getting salad instead of rice or fish as a meat. The chicken is spiced well with some kind of mild curry, is always freshly made because its a popular cart, and isn’t greasy The prices are great too, but the best value is the medium($ 5). The large, $ 6, is not that much bigger than the medium but even at that price is still a great value. The salad is surprisingly good… mixed greens with juicy chunks of tomatoes(!!!) and thinly sliced carrots — not that iceberg lettuce garbage. Since I’m a regular, the guy always hooks me up big time with the chicken so there’s no skimping on the protein. On top they usually put a little bit of grilled red peppers, broccoli, and white onion on top. As for the sauces: The white sauce isnt just watered down mayo — it actually tastes good as salad dressing. The other sauces are a tasty spicy green sauce, BBQ, and two hotness levels of red sauce. They’re all pretty good too but I generally just go for the white sauce. Check em out if you’re in the area during lunchtime. Definitely the best price for decently healthy and tasty food in a sea of mediocre options

Although«Platters»( ) was my first Halal experience, it was too far for me when I started working in Midtown East 7+ years ago. I wandered one day and found this street meat vendor. Basmati or yellow rice. Chicken, lamb or both. Assorted vegetables and salad(iceberg lettuce and maybe a tomato slice). White sauce, barbecue and hot sauce. One time I had asked for too much hot sauce and had a sore throat the next day. Other times, the hot sauce was wimpy. I didn’t like the inconsistency. I recently discovered that the Mr Khan upgraded to a bigger cart. He is no longer standing all day outside a small hot dog-like cart, but inside a mini house of street meat. Inside there is Mr Khan and two assistants. Large plates are now $ 5.50. I don’t bother with the small plate. It’s not enough. Sandwiches are $ 4. Mr Khan’s is my only acceptable desperate substitute for Platters. No loose deuce. No diarrhea of the butt. Only the mouth. That’s good enough for me. IFHTP3+
