About Mr. Throwback

Mr. Throwback started from the flea, now we here. Hell’s Kitchen flea market in 2011 to be exact. In Summer 2011, Mr. Throwback himself, Mike, decided to take his talents to Brooklyn and open up a pop-​up shop at the Dekalb Market. November 2011 was the time he made the decision to «go big or go home» and open up a Manhattan location at 428 E. 9th St.

We specialize in vintage sportswear, sneakers, Starter jackets, NBA Champion jerseys, snapbacks, toys and video games.

In addition, Mr. Throwback buys, trades and consigns vintage.

I saw these guys on instragram so I had to come in and check out the store. I’m particularly a fan of NBA champion jerseys. The store definitely has that 90s throwback feel from the music to the posters to the old video game and action figurines. Clothing on the racks is a nice selection of items well organized and hung up. Owner seemed knowledgeable and well informed. I didn’t purchase anything mainly because the items were so expensive especially compared to eBay or even Brooklyn flea vendors, particularly for the NBA champion jerseys which I specialize in. In addition, I thought they would have more wwe wwf items
all in all, worth a visit if you are a throwbacks/​90s fan but you’re unlikely to find that steal of a deal

Small store, but every inch of the place will definitely bring back a sense of nostalgia. I’m from San Diego and I don’t think we even have a place like this. I couldn’t believe some of the stuff they had! Old school NBA jerseys, Nintendo game cartridges to FUBU jackets. Yea, I said FUBU! haha. The guys that work here are friendly and funny! They’ll definitely point out some things that they feel you would be interested in. If you’re a kid of the 80’s/ 90’s, you need to stop by. It’ll have you feeling like a kid again.

Fun store, though very small. The guys running the shop the day I visited were friendly and found an item for me in the back. Lots of apparel, mostly pro and Northeast-​based. Not a ton of selection of toys and the like. Prices seemed fair but not bargains, necessarily.
It’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re a NYC sports fan.

I hit this spot in my East Village thrift crawl, and I was very impressed with the store’s collection and employees. They mostly have jerseys, sports jackets, and vintage collectable toys, so I didn’t buy anything. Still, everything is organized impeccably and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I asked if they had anything Detroit themed and the guy went in the back storage and brought me a few things to look at. Highly recommend if you’re looking for sports-​related stuff.

Let me start by saying the term «curated» should be reserved for museums only, but Mr. Throwback can be thought of as a museum of sorts. The sports and pop culture products available here are indeed curated with great care by the owner Mike. There isn’t any Mitchell & Ness or retro-​style products here. Just the authentic, of-​the-​era used and deadstock jerseys, jackets, crew necks and sports/​pop culture collectibles. A trip to this place is just that: a trip back into your childhood bedroom circa 1994. They carry everything you remember from back in the day and some stuff you forgot about. Cannot stress how necessary a place like this is. Get your ass to the East Village not now, but right now!

It’s stores like this that remind me the East Village still has a bit of quirkiness left in it. Essentially a store full of your most favorite childhood items you didn’t appreciate at the time. Mike’s got a great selection of authentic starter jackets in particular. I picked up a rare black and blue Giants jacket for myself and a classic green and white Jets jacket for the GF and am always impressed with his selection. If you’ve got authentic and rare sports clothing, he might be willing to listen to an offer too.
He posts a bunch of his new merchandise on Instagram but believe me the items you want are what everyone wants, so they sell out quickly especially if you’re a Bulls fan. Outside of sports, he’s got some other classic clothing (8 ball jacket from Seinfeld, Space Jam etc). Definitely worth checking out especially if you’re a die hard.

I’m no longer a Jets fan, but when I was, I purchased a lot of Old School Jets gear from Mr. Throwback.
Also, as a big R.L. Stein fan, I enjoyed purchasing some Goosebump Books.
If you’re walking around the east village stop by this place for a good laugh and nostalgia. Also, Mike the owner is the man.

This place makes me feel like the guy that owns the place. Just gather a bunch of stuff from his childhood home and is selling it. But it’s extremely homely and lovely. It’s perfect for your friends that are classic knicks fans or just in love with their childhood. The owner is super super chill. I literally left the place wanting to go back in and just hang out with him. It’s worth a look if you love 80−90s stuff.

Hands down one of my favorite stores in the East Village! I have yet to go back after my first visit but I stayed there for almost an hour one evening! There is the most amazing old school jerseys and some seriously sick jackets that I deeply fell in love with. I was told the owner works with a celebrity stylist and has some incredible one-​of-​a-​kind pieces (take my word). I regret not buying a couple! And let me not forget his amazing collection of Super Nintendo games! We even played a bit: D I was a little rusty, but overall had an amazing experience!
If you’re looking for some real classic authentic vintage pieces, and a true East Village experience stop by Mr Throwback.

Great store in the heart of the East Village. Mike (owner) is a cool dude, and he has a large collection of old school jerseys, warm up gear, tshirts, kicks, etc from the four major sports (yes I included hockey) to impress you. His collection is very unique. Never seen anything like it. Prices are very reasonable, and even if you do not buy anything it is great jog down memory lane to the sports scene of the 80s and 90s.

I got a really cool old school Michigan (my alma mater) sweatshirt from here. The owner was really friendly and helpful. They have a bunch of cool things in there from the 80’s and 90’s, from old school Knicks gear to fresh Bill Cosby Coogi sweaters. It is definitely worth checking out. A great one-​of-​a-​kind addition to the neighborhood!
