Myrtle Car & Limo Service

I called ahead and asked for a quote to LGA airport for my sister: $ 30.
They arrive on time, everything is great, the driver gets her there in less than half an hour.
She doesn’t have cash, so he pulls out a square iPhone card-​reader and changes the price to $ 50 before swiping her card 3 times.
That’s a no-​no on two fronts.
You’ll be hearing from us until this gets fixed, and even once it does I will never recommend you to friends.

used to take this car service but now at 5 different times that i had scheduled a car service they never showed up! dont use this car service is not reliable! you could miss your flight !

Horrible service, called twice for a car to JFK, both cars took someone else, not even asking if taking correct person. Dispatcher said what do you want us to do. Told the idiot to have drivers check to make sure they are picking up person who called. Worst company ever. DO NOT USE!!! GET A CAB, PLENTY AROUND.

An inept company. They’re so bad it’s not worth the details except it takes 20 min to get past busy signal — then to get the dispatcher — to then be put on hold for 7 minutes while they search for a car in a zone they claim they cover.
Drivers always claim you gave them wrong address or cross streets when they’re late.

They always have cars available when I call and show up promptly.

So I called in the middle of the night to arrange a ride to Laguardia airport for 4 am. The guy who answered quickly confirmed my name & address & told me it would be $ 35 & my driver would be there. I was kind of nervous that I wasn’t given a confirmation number or anything else but figured the universe would work it out.
The next morning Myrtle called to let me know my driver arrived 10minutes early. He met me at the stairs, helped me with my oversized suitcase & even stopped tiredly at an ATM so I could get cash. Made great time. Good experience!

Om my way to Remsen and court today, I have been taken this cab service for awhile and today june, 6, 2014 at 12:16 pm the cab driver seems a little weird he kept moving around in his seat looking down to the ground, they need to check their drivers backgrounds 898 732 was the number on his cab I’d that was on the back of the seat, he’s a little creepy, when we got to Fulton and Flatbush, he turned right in front of a car, the car could have hit us his name on the id on back of the seat is Ishtiaq Aslam, I love this cab service, I haven’t taken it in awhile, but in fear of getting him again, I will never call again

I bought a shelf on Craigslist and needed to bring it home (from Bed Stuy to Clinton Hill). An SUV came in 10mn. It was quick and simple, just what I needed, and very affordable. I recommend it.

I called myrtle this morning and they said it would be five minutes. After waiting 20 I caught another cab. Later I again needed a car and my other neighborhood services were busy, so I called Myrtle again. Another five minute pickup. But-​No cab! I called and they said he was one minute away. I called five minutes later and they said he must have picked up someone else. Mind you I was standing on my stoop. So frustrated, a waste of time and money!

Myrtle c’mon! If I tell you when I get in the car I want to take manhattan bridge lower level, that’s what I want. I don’t wanna take the Brooklyn bridge. When you backtrack back to the manhattan bridge, I haven’t changed my mind and suddenly want to take the upper level. I’m taking a cab cos I’m late, and I’m trying to get somewhere on time.

Told me 6 minutes still waited for 40 minutes in the cold till I realized they’re not coming.

I called tonite at 11:59. no car showed up by 12:15, I called back and they said they were very sorry that they forgot to dispatch a car. again at 12:25 I called back and no car. I hung up and told them it wasn’t rocket science and why should it take ½ hr to get a car. Finally, I called Evelyn Limo, which came immediately. They too have been awful, EVELYN LIMO… eventually all car services will DISAPPOINT YOU! Don’T USE MYRTLE!

I am heavy user of Unilocal but this is the first time I have made the effort to leave a review. Only car service to have never been late for pickup. Booking centre are super polite. My designated car service for the Brooklyn area!

Ok, this is based on a single use, but it was so nice I had to write this up. I was moving from BedStuy to the East Village, and needed to haul my stuff, about 12 boxes/​bags and a bookshelf. I asked for a minivan or SUV in 30 minutes. They quoted me $ 32 which seemed reasonable, maybe even cheap, give I was moving stuff.
Exactly 30 minutes later a luxury black SUV shows up. A very nice man steps out and starts helping me load my stuff. The last time I did this the driver just waited in the car.
We had a great conversation all the way and he helped me unload my stuff carrying it to the front door of the building 25 feet from the curb.

So I don’t leave to many Unilocal comments or ratings but since I’ve used this car service before I decided that I would leave my feedback. First and foremost I would like to address the fact that people are complaining when cars don’t show up, if a car doesn’t show up, why don’t you just call another place, its common sense!!!
Anyways, I have found that this is the best priced cab in Brooklyn to pretty much go anywhere into the city or to the airports including Jersey.
There pretty much always on time or really close to when they say they will be there, I haven’t had an issue with that and many of the drivers will go out of there way to go get up if your in the city even though some companies even ones in Queens won’t do that, and they have straight up told me when I asked.
I also noticed that even though many of the drivers speak Spanish and just a bit of English but they know where your going and don’t ever really ask you to repeat yourself so they know.
As far as someone commenting about them not getting your luggage, this place isn’t really a limo service with chauffeur and they are not the only ones, every car service I have taken none of the men actually put my bags in the trunk, I have to do it myself.
Another thing is that when you take an cab and I mean any «livery» cab, tell the people on the phone to give you a quote. When you get in the cab tell the driver what the dispatch told you because sometimes they are not aware and will charge you what they think it is. And as far as credit card use, this place will charge you more because there is a processing fee (i.e. when you go to store and they say you have to pay get a 10 $ minimum to charge on the card) so for cheaper service definitely pay with cash, its way easier and you can always ask for a receipt (yes, they will write one up for you).
Oh yeah and I forgot to say that Sundays is usually low work day, and I did notice that it will take a few more minutes then any other day of the week. I asked the cabbie one day why and he said it was because a lot of the cab drivers take the day off on Sunday for religious reasons. So if you need a car on Sunday make sure you call a little bit more before had just to make sure your car will be there when you want it.

I don’t know why there’s bad reviews, they are great with me all the time. There maybe some delay time getting a car bit that’s usually because it’s rush hour and I know they are flooded with calls. Keep it up! (And ask for 161, great driver and very friendly)

They’re pretty awful. Some of the drivers are super nice, but too many are surly and smelly, and constantly on the phone chatting some shit; which is fine if they don’t always try to hike the price on you! The dispatchers are rude, or speaks in an accent so thick u can’t hear. They often tell you 5 min which of the time is true and like wow, but sometimes you call 10−15m later and they’re like– 5m! SO, approach with caution.

BE CAREFUL WHEN GETTING INTO THEIR CARS– CHECK THAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY MYRTLE!
There are other gypsy cab drivers who pick up on their radio signal and beat them to the pick-​up. When you get into their cars they say they’re Myrtle but they have no signage in their cars. Make sure you ask for a badge /​medallion number /​TLC certification before you get into the car. The men driving these cars are extremely sketchy characters.
I used to use Myrtle all the time and they were very reliable. I will no longer be using their services for fear of getting picked up by a sketchy car service.

Best car service around! Read all the reviews posted and find it silly that people would actually wait around for a late car. Always have plan B and cancel the car that never came for you.
Anyway, Myrtle has always been on time for me. A few times the prices weren’t consistent but I told the driver what I always pay and we worked it out, sometimes with the dispatcher if needed.
Myrtle will help you out of emergency situations. Like when you are stuck in Manhattan late at night with no yellow cabs in sight, everyone looking for cabs and local subways not running due to construction.

I, also, am surprised by the negative reviews! I’ve switched from car service to car service to car service and every one has had shady drivers who are rude and try to drop me off blocks away from my building rather than drive me to it, and the worst ones have run consistently half an hour late.
Myrtle is NOT that. Their cars are clean, their manner is friendly and super professional, and they actually arrive within the five minutes that they quote. I had to run to the airport unexpectedly at 6:00AM the other day. Called Myrtle and it was no problem, they were there in 5 minutes (beat me to the door as I was still pulling my clothes on) and then I felt so comfortable on the way to the airport that I even closed my eyes and relaxed.
Not so with the yellow taxi cab that brought me back! Crazy man!
