I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEEE NEGRIL. First off we made reservations and thank god we did. Because when we walked in at 9:33pm although our reservation was at 10 we was seated immediately which was amazing be jade the line off people that was waiting was ridiculously long. The waiter we had was amazing. He was so pleasant, courteous and nice. Our food was also amazing. We asked the waiter for his opinion on which entrees to pick and he recommended curry shrimp and oxtail which we decided to go with and it was the best choice ever. The appetizer wasn’t my favorite, I had jerk chicken wings and the salmon crab cake which was yuck. But the entrees were delicious! It was my boyfriends birthday and he loves Caribbean food so our waiter made this day perfect for him. The drinks are also very strong and good. I wish I could give 10 stars.

First time having West Indian food and it was AMAZING!!! So bomb and services was so quick and great! Waiter by the name of Jermaine is so sweet

The food is excellent. The manager is rude. Our server Gabriel was a peach. They had an event called Feteccine and there was some kind of misunderstanding about how long food and drinks would be served. The all inclusive brunch ticket that my friends and I purchased clearly says unlimited mimosas and a 3 course meal. The menu we received only had two courses. The manager then told us they would not let anyone order food after 3pm, and told her servers the mimosas were only unlimited for an hour. The restaurant must have been confused about a simultaneous deal they were offering on unlimited rum punch that was available through the same event for specified hour long periods. When she came to our table and spoke to us, she mentioned «I’m already losing money on this deal». Sorry, but that isn’t my problem. That needs to be worked out with the event coordinator.
I want to give a shout out to the hook up on our ‘3^rd course’, which we received because we inquired about its whereabouts.
All in all food was delicious, service was helpful, manager boooo! Thanks for trying to ruin my birthday, it’s not working. I’m gonna get back to my mimosa now! ;)

I went to Negril yesterday (Friday evening) for happy hour and boy did I have the time of my life!!! The happy hour specials were decent (everything was about 5 – 7 dollars) and the rum punch was strong!
I ordered a appetizer sampler, with jerk wings, jerk shrimp, plantains, codfish fritters, and collard green rolls which was all pretty good. The DJ was great. And before I knew it the place was packed out… Before 10 PM. Loved it. I’ll definitely be back here.

Went here for my best friend’s birthday. Absolutely loved it. We got there around 10 & were seated immediately. I had saltfish and i don’t remember what else but the food was good! I ordered the rum punch and i dont remember the rest of the night. It was a little crowded but I had a great time and the server we had was attractive. That’s a plus!!!

Waoo! What can we say the drinks are delicious and the food is out of this world! One of the best Jamaican restaurant in NYC .

Negril has definitely fell off. I remember coming to Negril and it was one of the best restautant around to get good caribbean food. The drinks are still great and lounge downstairs. Thats the only reason I gave it three stars

Honestly, the food here is good– maybe 4 stars. They also serve strong, tasty drinks, though you’ll pay a premium. We actually really enjoyed this restaurant– the ambiance was spot-​on. Until we got the bill and noticed they had already included the gratuity.
Now we always give pretty generous tips, even for uneven service, which honestly is what we got here. But do you really have the nerve to add the gratuity as part of the bill without really advising us of that fact ahead of time (I read somewhere it was on the menu but I didn’t see it)?
That’s what we call a ridiculous operating model and I won’t support it– ever, in any restaurant, in any city. Make your employees happy, sure, but lose customers. A bad proposition.
I’d go back if they stop the madness…

Went here over NYE weekend because I wanted jerk. However for some reason I wanted to see what oxtail taste like for the first time. Needless to say, me personally, I wasn’t impressed. Not because it lacked taste or anything but because i didn’t realize it was stew based and I’m not a fan of stew. We ordered the chefs taster (I believe) which feeds 2 and it included 6 dishes for $ 35. The highlight of this dish for me was the curry goat surprisingly because for some reason I’ve always been afraid to try it. It was very flavorful and I couldn’t get enough of it. The jerk chicken was also just like I like it. Spicy, grilled taste with juicy meat. I also loved the greens as well, they had a spicy kick to them.

We were seated immediately upon arrival upstairs at one of the cozy 2 seater tables. Our tall, nice looking waiter’s service left a lot to be desired. He never checked on us once after we placed our order. Not to see if everything was ok or drink refill. Only to drop off the check and pick up the payment.
Definitely will return when I’m back in New York.

Came here with a group of 4 people on a Friday night right after NYE. Made reservation 2 days before and was good. Arrived on time with my friends and due to no table on the first floor, they decided to offer us to sit downstairs (which is partially like a lounge/​dance floor) or else we have to wait till there’s seating. We noticed sitting downstairs required 20% gratitude, plus mandatory $ 2 per person coat check, along with drinks that were ordered upstairs had to be transferred into plastic cups. Loud music going on downstairs where you had to scream to talk to each other. Music and DJ was good but it was just too much of a hassle for dinner. Waiter and staff were great.
We ordered numerous cocktail drinks and they were all good. However the food on the other hand was decent. Ordered the sampler appetizer, chicken and a salmon. Nothing too special on food, but had a great night here.

I’ve been to Negril Village several times and honestly its a hit or miss MY Most recent visit was definitely a hit. We got seated right away, service was a little above average. I had the house snapper and it was bursting will flavor. I would absolutely order it again without a doubt. The rice and peas and mac n cheese was Meh (nothing special). The specialty cocktails are strong but at a hefty $ 16 per drink price.

Unimpressed. Food was good but service was poor. Had a reservation for 6, I called to change it for 7, I was told not to worry just come in. We get I tell the lady that I have a reservation for 7, she says oh we can’t accommodate that. I was like really, then of course she changes her stance. We get seated, food was good.
You have to pay a dessert fee to eat cupcakes my friend bought, really?
This place is overrated, don’t know what the hype is about. I’ve been to other West Indian restaurants that are just as good if not better than this place.

Where to start? I haven’t partied like the way I partied that night in a very long time. Let’s start with dinner. The place was jammed packed and my boyfriend and I got a little table in the back on the upper level in front of the window. The food did take a long time to come and after all of the waiting the waiter brought the wrong dish. It took so long that there was no way that I was going to wait for the correct order. Well after serving us the waiter was no where to be found. When he finally came over «at the end of our meal» I told him that he brought me the wrong dish. I could not believe that instead of admitting his mistake he insisted that I was wrong. I told him I inquired about that dish but that’s not what I ordered. I explained to him that I was not trying to argue with him. I ate it and it was good, I was just making you aware. He still did not apologize but continued to tell me that was what I ordered. Um anyway just bring the check please.
After that we went downstairs where they played REAL dancehall both old school and new. The rum punch was strong and me dance dance dance all night until my shoes came off. I had so much fun and the crowd was not rowdy. I can’t wait to return and I hope I have as much fun as my last visit.

We had a reservation but showed up an hour late and the staff was still able to accommodate us right away! Very amazing customer service !
The food is divine, the drinks were tasty not watery at all and not too many restaurants outside of Brooklyn can nail Caribbean Cuisine. It’s usually a hit or miss or somewhat close in Manhattan but Negril Village is it !
The atmosphere is amazing and the dj did his thing with the mix of old school and new school reggae.
I’ll definitely be coming back to try the downstairs lounge/​party area.

I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt twice. I have visited on a Friday night in the past and each time I was not impressed and unenthused. My family is from Jamaica. I know jamaican food, therefore I set my standards high and my palette is sophisticated. This is a nice place for a COCKTAIL but nothing more.
The ambiance here is very caribean and a nice place for a 1^st Date to have a cocktail and leave for a meal elsewhere. The night club aspect is poppin. If you want to attend a bashment party, come here. The service here is very good, but the cuisine does not match. I’m unsure if the chef holds back on flavor to suit the masses taste buds or lack there of. Ive tried the Oxtail, Jerk Shrimp Mango salad and I’ve had the Ackee and Saltfish. I also ordered fritters. Unimpressive. How can you mess up Ackee and Saltfish? Very bland, very boring.
If yuh lookin to bussa wine and have a cocktail, come here. Otherwise, Brooklyn offers several amazing Caribbean restuarants dishing out authentic flavor.

Went here to celebrate my cousins birthday ¹¹⁄₁₃. We had a reservation for 8:00pm. Some of the party was late but they held our reservation. Upon arrival of the rest of the party we were seated fairly quickly. The atmosphere was a bit loud for my liking.
We got to our table, we sat and got situated. Our waiter came right over he introduced himself and began to tell us the specials for the night. As he was talking an unexpected gusest came out from under our table. Not to cause a scene I got his attention. He came over, I show him what it was and he stepped on it. Excusing himself he walked to the back. Minutes later a young lady came over to speak with us. Not sure who she was as she did not introduce herself. She was very apologetic and stated that they had just sprayed earlier that day, giving that the reason for the unexpected guest and walked away. That did not sit well with my man. He got up and spoke with her and they decided to comp one round of drinks. Being the occasion we decided to stay.
We ordered our meals which came out very quickly (not sure what to think of that). My meal was mediocre. I ordered the curried goat, with rice and peas. The rice and peas was a bit dry and tasted a little burnt. I didn’t care too much for vegetables (steamed broccoli and string beans in garlic…) while I like crisp and crunch they could have been steamed a little longer for my liking. The curried goat… meh, I’ve had better. My drink (mango piña colada) was good.
The service was good up until the end. We were sitting and talking. I was still picking off my plate. They had already come to take my man’s plate as soon as he put his fork down after he had taken what they assumed to be his last bite. I put down my fork and here comes another waiter asking me if I was done. Clearly I was not because I still had food on my plate. Looking around, I get it, the place was so packed it’s a rush to get people in and out.
If you are accustomed to being able to enjoy your meal, this is not the place for you. Although I would not go back, nor would this be in my top 100 to recommend. If someone were to ask me, «should I go to Negril Village»? I would share all the details of my experience and allow them to make their own decision; I would not say no because I understand every experience is different.

Eaten here 3 times… service is mostly poor.
First time I ate here, ordered veggie roti …4 years ago. I loved it.
But yesterday, ordered the same dish and recipe or cook has changed. It was awful. The roti was sour. The food was bland.
Then ordered the Caribbean salmon with collards and rice and pea. The dish was so poor and unflavorful. My friend ordered the mussels and they were so small…
The experience was so disappointing, I was able to convince my friend not to return although we enjoyed the frozen piña colada which was not frozen…

I always make it a priority to visit this place whenever I visit New York.
However my recent visit left me feeling let down. The décor in this place is lacking and needs to be fixed up. I do not expect to go to a Manhattan establishment and be charged $ 26 dollars for Oxtail $ 20 dollars for Brown Stew Chicken and then shown to my seat only to find it has been taped up using brown sticky tape. If you want to charge Michelin prices for your meals then the presentation and surroundings should reflect this too.
The air conditioning was way too high, I was a few degrees above freezing. It was a warm night so I had no jacket but once inside I felt as though I needed an anorak, it was that chilly.
The service was lovely as always and our waiter was pleasant, the food was nice. However I’m not sure if the chef has changed but the taste was not the same. I also had home made sorrel it was delicious.
Based on this visit I’m not sure I would return when I come back. Small attention to details make a restaurant an experience and this was lacking in too many areas for me.

I came in around 1am and they closed in 30 minutes. Usually there is a crowd at the staircase but there wasn’t so we were seated immediately. I was advised to order my food immediately because the kitchen was closing shortly. I ordered and waited for my food. My appetizer came out in a timely fashion. The ackee and salt fish tasted great, the tostones was a different touch for me but it tasted ok. Id prefer little pieces of bake instead. The salt fish had just the right amount of salt in it. My entrée came out 10 minutes later and i was able to enjoy my Escovetich fish along with the peppers and onions. I never looked up to even touch my ground food until i was half way through my fish. I ate every piece of onion and pepper on my plate. I asked them for oxtail gravy on the side so i dipped my boiled banana in the gravy and sailed away. I definitely can say if the gravy tasted that good there’s a great probability the oxtails tasted just as good. I am speculating but its a good one.
The Mojito tasted pretty good. not much alcohol in it but the mint leaves gave it a good twist. I ordered a rum punch and it seemed to have just a tad bit more alcohol.
The music of course is amazing. Not too loud and just the right selection. I would say the food is pricey but for the level of food they deserve every penny. My server… what i can say? IMO seemed to be in another world. Another server kept checking in on us with eye contact and then approaching us to see if we needed anything else.
The restroom is still downstairs. The lounge was empty when i passed through to use the restroom. Back in the days they use to have people down stairs partying til 4am. Use to be a good crowd too.

Negril has been around a long time. I went there this past Sunday night — sat at the bar for about 20mins before getting seated. They text ur phone when ur table is ready. Had a piña colada first which was weak but then had their signature coconut run punch and that really packed a «punch» lol
Salmon cakes appetizers was delicious. I had the jerk chicken which was flavorful– comes with rice and peas. My date had spicy salmon and he loved every bite.
A lil pricey than it should be but hey it’s NYC. Drinks, appetizer and two entrees was about $ 100
Upstairs is more of a restaurant vibe and a bar. Downstairs is more of a club feel, has a bar and all the bathrooms are there.
