if you’re craving carribbean, this jerk chicken hits the spot. perfect punch of heat. order the jerk grilled corn on the cob with coconut and it adds a nice sweetness to the meal. warning: the miss lilys punch is incredibly strong. not that it’s a bad thing, but just a nice thing to be aware of.

I had my birthday dinner at this Miss Lily’s location and it was amazing! The food and service were great, and the drinks were sweet yet strong. Reggae, soca and hip-hip filled the restaurant, so the vibe was on point! I do wish the food portions were bigger for the price, but I left the spot full, happy and even whined up a lil bit! If you’re looking for a great birthday dinner location, or can’t budget a ticket to Kingston, just hop over here!

I went with my friends to Miss Lily’s last night for dinner and I would have to give this place only 3 stars. Upon arrival, we were sat and handed the traditional menu. Being that it is restaurant week, we wanted to review the restaurant week menu and were excited to ask for it– but no one came over to our table for about 10 minutes once the menus were dropped. In fact, we had to grab the servers attention. When he came over, he seemed confused as if there was no communication amongst servers as too who was supposed to take care of us. After we reviewed the menu, we flagged down the waiter– yes we flagged him down again seeing as he was staring into space and not checking in on us at all. We order, and he forgets my tea– and upon arrival of the dishes, 2 of us were handed the wrong meal. Not once were we checked in to see how our food was or if we needed anything. The food: was really very tasty. it was my first time having this kind of food and I tend to be picky– but I was pleasantly surprised!!! After that, we waited for our check– only to have to flag down the waiter again. He hands us bags for our food but walks away without remembering to bring the check. We waited. waited. waited… All together service was awful. I’m not sure if it was just this guy(he seemed to be very spaced out the entire night, and was uneducated on the way to server customers) or if it is the service there in general. That being said, one of my friends had been there before and said they typically have good service so who knows. GREATFOOD. Wasn’t the best experience though! Oh and they do a cool birthday celebration. Flashing lights, music, sparklers, the whole bit.

Had dinner here two nights ago and am still thinking about the delicious feast I had. My friends and I decided to go for Restaurant Week, but we went rogue and just ordered off the regular menu. For starters, we got there during happy hour which I believe is from 5 – 7 — $ 5 wine and beer and reduced select cocktails — not bad at all. To start, we got the jerk wings and artichoke dip. Oh dear. The wings weren’t your usual buffalo wings, but unusual and delicious and the artichoke dip was bomb. My one complaint is that they don’t give you enough chips to really go to town on it… sigh. The majority of the table got the jerk chicken as a meal. The serving is absolutely MASSIVE but I finished nearly all of it… it comes with this amazing rice and cold pea mixture. We also got a few sides for the table — jerk fries, mac and cheese and plantains. Honestly, everything was delicious. Re: scene and service — it was pretty quiet when we got there but when we left there were a bunch of people hanging at the bar. The initial table we were at could barely fit five — like I was falling out of the booth so it was strange they would seat us there but they said yes to our change of table request. One not so great thing(but the food is what really matters to me) — the bartender was anything but friendly. Either way, I will be back!

Great vibe and excellent service but I was not impressed by the food. I ordered from the restaurant week menu, hot and spicy shrimp for appetizer, jerk chicken for entrée and banana pudding for dessert. The shrimp fish was good but it was a hassle peeling off the shells, which I was not expecting. The jerk chicken was very disappointing. It was very saucy and had a weird after taste. Definitely not the best tasting jerk chicken I’ve had. The banana pudding was comparable to magnolias banana pudding which was a plus. Overall, nothing special.

My friends took me here last night for a belated birthday dinner and I had so much fun. Not only was the food great but the atmosphere was even better. Highlights: Drink — Rude Boy: SOGOOD! Appetizers — The jerk wings and conch fritters were great! The mussels and the coco bread that they serve with it… YUM!!! Entrée — The jerk chicken and jerk pork were so tender and juicy. I was able to cut it with my butter knife. I definitely recommend these two dishes. Dessert — I have been craving banana pudding for quite some time and they definitely satisfied my craving. Totally worth the calories! And last but not least, it was a full blown party when they sang happy birthday to me. Any place that plays Rihanna’s Bday Cake while dancing with sparklers gets a grade A from me. Loved it! Will definitely be back.

I just happened to order from this place on and I was quite impressed by the plantains and Mac & cheese pie. There also a link to Radio Lily, a cute radio station by way of Miss Lily’s restaurant that plays reggae tunes. I’m definitely checking this place out for dinner & will engage in some carnivorous activity. I want to try so many things on this menu, it’s insane. Yay for a Jamaican restaurant near my dom.

YUM. came for dinner after my wallet got stolen. this place completely changed my mood Plan ahead & make a reservation. There was no wait for our table even though half of us was incredibly late. For a group of 4, we ordered. I wouldn’t order the vegetable again but everything else was delicious — jerk chicken wings — fish tacos — fries — callado — festival — some jerk chicken and the ramen The ramen was incredible & surprising. The noodles at japanese places are superior but aside from the starch, this bowl had more meat & ingredients. The broth was delicious. and was likely 2x the size of something from toto ramen. drinks were delicious and music was so good. i was bobbing along while i was eating. can’t believe it took me so long to come here

Mains cooked faster than the Caribbean beat! (Main dish came out less than 5 minutes from ordering but they forgot the appetizer which took another 10, how does this kitchen work?)

Nothing good about their food. I ordered from here because I was in the mood for Jamaican. The food is high priced which is typical probably because there isn’t many Jamaican options around. The food arrived later than the expected time frame. I ordered the ox tail special. The rice was very dried out and bland. The oxtail was extremely small and a very small portion. There was a ton of cubed carrots and large slices of garlic with the oxtail which was a big turn off. Ox tail is my favorite dish when it comes to Jamaican food and this place does it horribly wrong. If I ever crave Jamaican, I’ll look for somewhere else or just ignore my craving rather than eat here.

If you want a FUN dinner experience, head to Miss Lily’s 7A. The space, the music, the drinks… it’s different and provides the right scenery for a good time. The food is delicious. I loved the Jerk Chicken Ramen! The broth was so flavorful and the meat was great. Was enough to take some home for later. Everyone else loved their dishes also. Make sure you let them know if you’re celebrating a birthday — you’re in for a fun surprise! Also, you can make reservations on open table and call to expand it to a larger party(you can only do 4 people through opentable)

Being married to a Jamaican, I’d like to think I know a thing or two about well-cooked Jamaican food, and the wonderful variety of fresh ingredients and seasonings that make it one of the more exciting cuisines. From the outside, Miss Lily’s looks quite promising with its colorful entrance. The food however disappoints. To be honest, nothing tastes bad, but — with the possible exception of the plantains — nothing wows either. All this would be more acceptable at reasonable prices, but Miss Lily’s is terribly expensive for what it provides. In sum, as the only Jamaican restaurant in the immediate vicinity, it’ll do for those days when we crave Jamaican food, but my wife doesn’t feel like cooking, but that’s about it.

Rowdy, lively and fun. I’ve been meaning to come here for a while and finally scoped it out last night, and I absolutely love it. It’s like a sit-down bar with the amount of energy this place has. It is bubbling with noise, hip hop music and most of all, the food is good — especially the corn and fish tacos. If you don’t make a rezzie, expect a 1 – 1.5 hour wait. If you make one, you can still expect an hour wait. There is also ample space by the bar to hang out and grab drinks. Also, as a tip — if you’re only dining with another person or two, keep your eye on the bar since seats may free up and you can eat there! Also, this place is awesome for celebrating birthdays — they make it super fun and special! I don’t want to spoil the surprise but definitely take it into consideration when looking for birthday dinner options :)

Dude. The jerk corn. For every NYC house guest I have I always say — let me take you to the place with the corn that will change your life. It’s true. It’s amazing. Order a lot of it. The plantains are equally delicious and I love that they let me substitute out my rice for plantains on my jerk chicken platter with absolutely no hassle. The jerk chicken isn’t bad. Brunch has a nice bottomless option and the rum punch wasn’t too sweet. What I like about 7A as opposed to the Houston Street location(while both great) is the openness and window space. It’s a wonderful spot on a nice day because they open up all the windows and you feel like you’re sitting outside. They also have outdoor seating! The atmosphere is totally Caribbean, from the waitresses to the music, everyone and everything here has a chill island vibe. It’s good for brunch or dinner… but either way, that corn. Seriously!

My family is Jamaican, and if you have ever searched for authentic Caribbean food in the city, you know how hard it is to find a good place, let alone a great ones like Miss Lilly’s 7A. A friend of mine stumbled across this place, and we decided to try the brunch special. Since then, I’ve been for brunch three times, including for my birthday, and I’ve tried every food and drink item on the brunch menu. The food tastes like grandma’s cooking, and grandma could throw down, and the drinks are delicious too! The only(little) issues that I’ve had were the attentiveness of the server(only one time was it an issues), and the seating is a bit cramped in the front of the restaurant. But once the food comes, all of your worries fade away.

Reserved for Miss Lily’s 7A after reading up about a summer crab boil going until Labor Day for $ 38. Not sure if they do this every year, but it is certainly worth checking out when summer rolls in. In addition to some specials, they have a great happy hour that goes until 7PM. This includes some specialty pre-mixed cocktails, like their frozen Dark n Stormy and Miss Lily’s Rum Punch. Such a fun kitchy place with a vibrant diverse crowd offering some amazing Jamaican dishes. Their summer crab boil is a nice steal if you are looking to down some tasty crabs, which can be a bit hard to find in this city. Comes with about 6 – 7 spiced and seasoned crabs(ours came with 7) of which can be easily split between two people. The fixed-price menu gets you ears of corn, boiled potatoes, cornmeal fritters, side cole slaw, and banana pudding for dessert. I thought the crabs were great, and the seasoning was pretty strong, but in a good way. I didn’t care much for the fritters, slaw and corn, but it was still a nice addition. We also ordered the Oxtail Stew, a classic Jamaican dish that is a must order. It was also highly recommended by our waitress. Delicious tender pieces of oxtail in this amazing sauce. Make sure to have plenty of rice to mix in. While the crab was a good amount, the oxtail was a great call. It is not a huge dish but a respectable amount, so you could certainly have your own portion if not starting off with other dishes. I definitely plan to return to Miss Lily’s. She has so much to offer. Seems like a great spot to come in the winter too as its colorful interior can beat any of the outside cold weather blues. My next visit will involve the Jerk Ramen, which I couldn’t help but notice on the menu.

Great, lively, colorful atmosphere. Fun cocktail list(oh my god — a frozen dark and stormy?!). And in my opinion, Miss Lily’s 7A deserves 5 stars for the food. I highly recommend the fiery calamari starter — it was my absolute favorite dish of the night. The vegetable curry was also flavorful and delicious, although the roti bread served with it was far too greasy. My friend enjoyed the jerk chicken, as well. I must give 4 stars, however, for the extremely slow service(our waitress just did not seem to care at all, really) and the steep prices! You can get equally delicious caribbean food for MUCH, MUCH less if you seek it out.

Truth be told, I never heard of this place. I only found out about it when a friend mentioned crab boil and Mondays and I was in. The boil is a very popular item, just about everyone at the restaurant partook. The crab boil is only a seasonal thing, think you should call ahead of time to make sure when they offer it. The food: Jerk Crab Boil– I thought the boil was great, they give about seven crabs, a few pieces of corn on the cob, potatoes, fried dumplings and banana pudding to finish off the meal for $ 38 per order. The boil is a lot of food, I ended up sharing this with my friend and another entrée. I liked the flavor of the crab, the crab was super fresh and had a little kick from the jerk seasoning. For me, as much as I like the flavor of blue crabs, they are such a pain in the ass to go through. If you are a blue crab fan, go ham.
Oxtail Stew– natural gravy, rice & peas– The oxtail was very tender and the gravy had nice flavor but I thought the dish was a tad salty. The rice & peas had good flavor, but on the mushy side. I also thought $ 19 for a bowl of Oxtail Stew was bit much.

As fun as it is good, which is harder than it seems. It’s dark and loud and if you don’t like that vibe, don’t come. Yes the music blares, the lighting is perfectly low, and the location is ideal for people watching, provided you’re inside along the windows or outside on the sidewalk. FOOD(dinner): –Though not an ideal date food, the jerk grilled corn is a must. The toasted coconut and jerk mayo are a very nice touch –Codfish fritters a nice starter, too. –The wings are scotch-bonnet seasoned, which means they’re hot. Only six in the order. –Skip the shrimp(small portioning again and a bit messy and really just not great). –Jerk chicken is very solid and well-prepared, but I’m sure most of us have had better for less $ either in the Caribbean or at any local place in the outer boroughs. –I don’t think you come here for strict authenticity, but you’re very close with some dishes, namely the Oxtail stew, which is outstanding. Oxtail isn’t for the impatient, be prepared to work for your meat. –Jerk pork tasty, but you won’t have trouble finishing as it’s not the biggest portion… are you seeing a theme? But then I saw the jerk chicken ramen on the menu, so I order it, and it’s HUGE. Tons of perfectly cooked noodles with the broth to the brim. The chicken included is delicious; and if pork belly needed any improving to an already perfect cut, the chef decides to jerk it, and wow. The soy-marinated ackee is outstanding and a nice touch. The egg was expertly soft boiled. I regret not being able to finish it. This is a limited time item, but I hope someone reads all the wonderful things being said about it decides otherwise. Have been for brunch a long time ago; I remember the blackened fish sandwich being truly excellent.

Restau jamaïcain ou je suis allée voir le superbowl. Bouffe plutôt bonne, j’ai prix le jerk chicken et un jerk corn + a pinte de bière pour $ 40 a peu près.
