I had the«All Day Box» Coconut shrimp, it was so tasty. The special comes with 4 california roll pieces, salad and Miso soup all under $ 10! You can’t beat that price in FiDi.

This place has gone downhill. The price was good. The miso soup was good. The salad with the orange dressing was good. The sushi was below average. I ordered a three roll combo for lunch: salmon/avocado, tuna/cucumber, and spicy tuna. All of them were sloppily made and falling apart in the container. The fish did not taste fresh. Just order from Haru down the street.

I’ve only gone here for take out, the deals are amazing. Three rolls for $ 12.50 and it comes with a salad, I’m sold. The food is made super quickly, we placed an order for pick up at 12:20, it was ready by the time we arrived at 12:35. I definitely love them for a cheap lunch during the week — my only complaint is that their Kani Salad is like 75% carrots. But I can live with that.

Lack of good sushi is a problem in the Financial District, not gonna lie. It’s surprising because you’d think there’d be good places with all the financial firms in the area for client lunches, dinners, etc, but there just isn’t. Below are my sushi recommendations for the area, but even at that, I wouldn’t go to one of these places on a weekend night, or a date, or a special occasion. These are more casual ‘lunch’ sushi spots, and just ok, in my opinion, with the exception of Suteishi, which is good, but for the price, I’d go somewhere better(read my review). Best Sushi places to go in FiDi, in Order, with my Stars: Suteishi: 4-stars Haru: 3-stars Nu Sushi: 3-stars Taste of Tokyo: 3-stars Niko Niko: 2.8-stars Koodo: 2.5-stars Shin Ju: 2-stars Oka: 2-stars …and Wasabi: 2-stars cause it’s the McDonald’s of Sushi and a different animal. And that’s really it. There are few other places that serve«supermarket» or «convenience store» sushi as it’s just a counter in a Deli or grocery store that’s pre-packaged or made in the morning then sits out all day, and typically lower quality… places like Open Kitchen, Café Water, Zeytuna, Bento, etc, but I’d pass on these unless you’re in a hurry and/or can’t go to the places above. Nu Sushi and Taste of Tokyo are probably the two I go to the most as Suteishi and Haru are too expensive for lunch. So as far as this Review — for **Nu Sushi**, I think it’s the best of the bunch for lunch or an after-work casual dinner. There’s nothing spectacular about Nu Sushi, but for basic, good quality sushi, this place is reliable and reasonable. I usually go for the 3-Roll Lunch Special with Soup/Salad for $ 12.50. Overall, Nu Sushi is good and I recommend it for basic sushi.

Pretty good quality vs the price. I ordered online from Unilocal via for pick up. I wanted it to be ready ASAP and after I placed my order I walked here from my office building which is about 10 mins away. I ordered the salmon sushi lunch specials. It comes with a salmon roll and salmon sushi(nigir) and a salad. I got back to the office and started with my salad. tasty and pretty standard with the ginger dressing. Then I saw my sushi and wow it was a lot of food vs the price so I was happy with that. For the sashimi snobs out there, this isn’t the BEST place but again I was happy with how much I paid. I would come back here to get my sushi fix.

Good lunch spot that gets crowded, but the service is real fast. I came here for a work lunch at around 12:15ish and, as expected, the place was pretty crowded. Luckily for us, there were a few of 2 person tables open so they pushed a few tables together. I didn’t have many expectations coming here, but to my surprise, the food was pretty good! The menu was long and consisted of typical Japanese food — salads, soups, sushi rolls, teriyaki, katsu, tempura, etc. The prices were also reasonable for the area, especially with the lunch special being only $ 16.50. Since we were here during lunch time, we all ordered the Nu Bento specials, which were lunch speical bento boxes that were served with 2 large plate items with a sushi roll, rice and a salad. I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki and Chicken Katsu and it was surprisingly very tasty! Not only did it satisfy my hunger, but also my tastebuds! The bento box was big and everything was just what I needed. The Japanese food here is not going to be 4 stars, but it’ll do for a quick lunch spot. In addition, the service is very fast and attentive, especially when there are customers constantly waiting from 12−1pm.

Overall experience was good. The staff promptly sat me, took my order, and was on top of any need I had. Total time was 35 minutes which is pretty quick at lunch in this area. I ordered 2 rolls and a hand roll. I found their roll selection to be normal. Nothing really stood out as something different. The fish quality was good. I would imagine a high turnaround which keeps the fish coming in fresh. Worth checking out. Cost wise I would see it is average. $ 13 for a speciality roll…

Serviceable sushi at a decent price. Nothing amazing but it satisfies your sushi craving during lunchtime in the Financial District. The 2-roll Lunch special is what I always order and it’s solid option for when I don’t want to eat something heavy and greasy. This order comes with a free side salad and some tangy dressing which is nice. I always order online for takeout and there were never really any hiccups except for one time when the staff took forever to ask me what/how I ordered when I could clearly see my order in a bag at the front desk. This place is literally right next to Insomnia Cookies so be on the lookout for that. On my first time coming to Nu Sushi, I walked right by and missed it because it’s pretty small and their sign isn’t the most noticeable.

Every time I dine here I enjoy the food. Tonight I had a special roll, sea weed salad, broccoli, and fried calamari. The roll was delicious. Broccoli superb. The calamari was a miss. Too dry and brittle with no flavor. The glass of plum wine was icing on the cake. I didn’t have it tonight, but I like their tempura shrimp & veggies as well.

This is usually my go to spot for sushi by my job. It’s an average sushi spot and the price is reasonable for the FiDi district if you take advantage of the takeout lunch special. The place is very small so I’m sure that’s why they promote takeout. The sushi is fresh. They are pretty quick if there is no line. I love how they have shrimp tempura as part of the lunch special since I’ve been to others in the area that do not have it as an option, however, I am disappointed that they do not carry the Philadelphia roll. I always have to choose which I’m in the mood for when I eat sushi for lunch. For the philly roll I take myself to Taste of Tokyo a few blocks down.

Small hole in the wall sushi place around the financial district. The menu list is good. They have a great selection of sushi and sashimi as well as lunch bento box. Reasonable price for the area and the device is fast. It is too fast that you feel rushed eating and ordering. The servers are not too pleasant they just want to keep the tables moving. If you want a good carry out for the area this would be a great place.

Places like this reminds me as to why I MUSTALWAYS turn to Unilocal prior to eating ANYWHERE. 10 empty tables and 10 minutes just to wait to be seated. All a girl wanted out of life was some calamari and some great sushi. All a girl received was calamari that had the same texture as potato chips and mediocre sushi rolls. Service was TERR-REE-BULL. Next time I’ll take the time to rely on Unilocal. On a positive note I’ve supported a local business… I guess…

Been here about three times; for the price, you get what you get. And that includes the pitiful service. The last time I was here, I sat at the tiny doorway entrance waiting over 15 – 20 minutes for someone to take my order, nobody ever came. :Lady Honest Drops Menu: out the door I go, never to return. Feel my breeze.

Sadly, the food and service at Nu Sushi really is not worth the price, even though it’s in the financial district. The servers seemed really angry about their jobs, and their poor attitudes make the lunch hour experience really unpleasant. Recently, I got a take-out order of steamed shrimp dumplings and a tuna roll. When I got back to my office to eat my food, I found a hair in my tuna roll and everything just tasted so bland. I will not return. This place really failed to satisfy me on any level.

I’ve come here a number of times for lunch. The food is your typical Chinese made Japanese food. Nothing exceptional and service is fast. What I hate about the place is how cheap they are about their cc policy. Their minimum is $ 10 and they refuse to budge even if the total is $ 9.80. They are so cheap that they said I can use a cc if they can charge $ 10 on it. I asked if they would give me a change of 20 cents and they said no. Seriously??? Off I go to find another Chinese owned Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood.

I ordered the lunch special(2 rolls) and got an avocado/sweet potato tempera roll. Both of them lived up to my expectations and tasted fresh. I was charged $ 2 extra because I asked them to make the rolls out of brown rice($ 1 per roll). If you’re going to pick-up your order during lunch(I went around 1:00), order 20 – 30 minutes in advance.

I would say the worst Japanese food I’ve ate in a while. Not like I would go to this place if I had a choice, but the problem is — there is no choice. My lunch break timing cant afford going too far, and this, let’s call it ‘restaurant’, is the only option. No windows, table-over-table set up(be ready to basically share your personal space with couple other people from both sides, front and back), mad rude waitresses(which only confirms that it is not a real Japanese place because Japanese people are the politest one out of all Asian country’s cultures), ingredients are not fresh(referring to my ugly looking ‘vegan platter’, too bad I couldn’t take a picture since there is no light at that place), and super super shady manager. So, the story is: since I was so upset with the food I got and a poor service I didnt want to leave a tip, fare enough since I am already dropping $ 60 for my order even thought I hate every second of being in that place. I paid for the food and left. On my way back to the office I realize I forgot my purse there. I was like ‘Brilliant’, now I have to see those people again. I came back and guess who was waiting for me there with the maddest face I ever saw… The manager. Long story short — that lady basically made me pay the tip in order to get my purse back!!! Can you believe? I had a important meeting coming up so I couldn’t stay and argue or even bring the cops in — which I easily could of do. The point is I PAIDTHATTIP in order to get my very own purse back. I guess I am just not lucky. My lunch break was ruined.

The service and food quality were subpar. A colleague and I came here to order lunch to take back to work and both got lunch boxes. My total came to $ 9.80 and I was asked if I had cash because the credit card minimum is $ 10. I asked could she please not refuse my card over 20 cents and she just stood there and didn’t acknowledge me until I paid her cash instead. She did the same thing to my colleage, who didn’t have any cash on him and was forced to actually order more food before she would charge his card… over 20 cents! I got a roast pork box where the pork was really fatty and chewy. To top it all off, I found a hair in my california roll. At that point I just dumped the rest of my lunch and wont be back there!

Had a great day and the weather looks great so why not treat myself to something good! Always knew this place existed and it’s about a block away from work but never had a chance to swing by so today is the day! I came with a few coworkers around 1pm and we waited about 20 minutes for a table which ain’t bad. Seating: There’s about 10 table of 4s in the restaurant + the sushi bar(fits 5) I ordered the Chirashi lunch and the chicken Karage to share while another coworker had the Chicken Piccata. The Chirashi includes 12 pieces of sashimi, 2 pieces of Tamago and rice. The fish tasted pretty fresh, especially the salmon. of course the best pieces are the tamagos because eggs and I have a special connection ;) The chicken Karage was okay, it was very flavorful and crunchy but it looks more like popcorn chicken than chicken Karage. I am not sure why Chicken Piccata is on the menu here(isn’t that Italian?) but hey whatever flows their boat eh? BUT with that said, their chicken piccata was great, the chicken was tender and the sauce just right. The portion is not big but perfect for lunch so you don’t get a food coma afterward hah. Price: reasonable consider it’s in the FiDI, expect to pay $ 15 – 20 pp during lunch Overall Nu Sushi is a good sushi option in the FiDi area. it’s not the best in NYC but if you have some serious craving and an hour to burn then Nu Sushi will do!
