Solid! Pork belly is the way to go… the Shrimp sandwich is pretty tasty too.

The green salad I ordered from the flatiron location was so disgusting I didn’t want to eat it. It’s looks and smells as though they gave me salad mix that was kept in a fridge for 6 months. It was slimy and brown on the edges and super soggy. Very upset and not worth the price at all. Wouldn’t even eat this if it was free.

The sandwiches here are really good. I had the pull pork sandwich $ 8 (that I remember) and their Lemon Gingerade both I recommend. The sandwich has cilantro in it that gives the sandwich a kick to it. The price is a little more then I think it should be but who cares the sandwich is to good to care about the price. The size looks small but very filling. The Lemon Gingerade is so good too. It was recommended to me by the cashier. All in all, I’ll come back here and try some more of their sandwiches down the list

Despite a lunchtime rush, the staff filled orders quickly and efficiently. The noodle and rice bowls are tasty and filling, the house dressing is lite and a good accompaniment. We sat at a high top by the front window and watched the Broadway pedestrian traffic. Great lunch.

Great sandwiches. Been eating their pulled pork since their 1^st little hole in the wall in west village on 12^th street. Their spicy mayo sauce is on point and I’m a cilantro lover so all the ingredients were perfect for me. To those that hate cilantro — too bad!!! they don’t do alterations for you.
Although the sandwiches are amazing, I do think $ 10 for one is quite pricey. However I just found out they have happy hours m-​f 4−7pm $ 2beer and $ 6 sandwiches! And few more specials. Definitely checking that out sometime! Only for Nomad location though.

Just found out about the Flatiron location and immediately went to enjoy it. Try their sandwiches. These are like better, meatier banh mis. My chief complaint with banh mis is the meat part of it and these sandwiches don’t hold back at all there. On one of my return visits, will need to check out their rice bowls. This place is fringe five stars, only thing holding it back is portion size.
Classic Sandwiches (4.5÷5): This rating is mainly for the Five-​Spice Glazed Pork Belly, a highly recommend. The pork belly is so tender and nicely flavored… it’s amazing that they load up a whole sandwich with it. In addition to the normal toppings, they also have pear on this sandwich which adds a nice tart touch. I’ve also tried the Skirt Steak, which is not worth it at $ 12… it’s on the dry side and the seasoning is too heavy. The one thing about there sandwiches if you will finish it so quickly and still be hungry. — $ 10 – 12

Pleasantly surprised. I ordered a pork belly sandwich. The price is far more than a typical banh but its Manhattan and it is pricey here and dat pork belly doe. The pickles were pretty good too. I want to try the chicken and pulled pork some time :). But for now I’m going to stick to the 5 dollar viet banhs in Brooklyn.

Delicious banh mi sandwiches (my favorite being a brisket one) and an incredibly addicting Cambodian iced coffee.
The bowls I didn’t like that much. Not as tasty in my opinion.

Yum, yum, yum! Fast service and flavorful choices, it makes sandwiches interesting again. I’m generally not a sandwich fan, but these hit the spot.

First time trying Numpang sandwich. I got the 5 spices porkbelly sandwich. It was rather small for $ 9. It wasnt filling. But it was deliciously seasoned and braised, moist and soft. it was topped with crunchy, sweet, and tangy slaw and glazed poach pear. The seatings were rather uncomfortable and the interior made it looked like I was dining in some dead end alley with garbage.

Honestly this place is sooo good. I am writing this review with half my sandwich still in front of me. I’ve never written a review this fast, but in case you haven’t had lunch and this place is near you, you to go there. Run. Now. I ordered the coconut tiger shrimp sandwich and whatever this sauce is, it’s perfect. The shrimp, prefect. Everything, perfect.

I tried a sandwich and a rice bowl. Neither disappointed taste-​wise although I was surprised that my rice bowl was pre-​made. I barely finished paying for it by the time my number was called. That being said, it was rather tasty.
The portions are pretty decent for the price and they don’t skimp on flavor. The food has a bit of a healthy twist without going overboard.
I got service with a smile both times I went and they’re pretty good at moving the line along. Keep in mind, long lines often form because the people ordering can’t make up their minds by the time it’s their turn, they aren’t ready to pay, or they stuck on their phones so cut the service folks some slack when the lines are long.

This location was in a great area, it’s clean and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I ordered the pork belly sandwich and it was delicious. Food was fast to come out and tasted utterly amazing. The bread was perfectly toasted and the pork belly literally fell apart it was so tender. Prices are also extremely reasonable. Will definitely be coming back here.

I never get the sandwiches here because they are way too small and expensive. Rice bowls are where it’s at. The spicy pork has carrots, brussel sprouts and another grilled vegetable covered in chili yogurt. Yum!

I love the happy hour (4−7pm) chicken wings. It is really really delicious. It comes with a side of delicious pickles for only $ 3. This is one of my go-​to snack places.
But on the other hand, the sandwiches are a bit much for me. I’ve tried the pulled pork and roasted cauliflower. There is a lot of sauce and flavor but it is too heavy to eat for lunch. But if you go during happy hour, the sandwiches are only $ 6!
Don’t try their special bottled beverages. I was severely disappointed by the taste. It felt more like water than juice.
I am struggling to give it only 3 stars, since I love the chicken so much. But I just don’t love the other things on the menu.

Was excited to try the food here and was treated like crap after waiting in a 20 minute line.
I ordered my sandwich ($ 12 bucks for a sandwich. better be delicious.) and kindly asked for no cilantro. The associate was so rude to me. «NO MODIFICATIONS!» while shaking her head vigorously. I said it’s not a huge modification — I just can’t have cilantro. And she said «NO MODIFICATIONS!» and pointed to the board. I said I am allergic to cilantro can’t you make an exception and just make one sandwich without it? Mind you I see them making the sandwiches — it’s not like cilantro in a sauce or hard to make without it — it’s like just don’t put cilantro leaves on one sandwich. Anyways, I am allergic and therefore couldn’t order a single sandwich from the menu. If there are ‘no substitutions’ for a $ 12 dollar sandwich at least learn some customer service skills to treat us with respect when denying us food we waited in line for 20 minutes for.
One final note: On the restaurant’s webpage it clearly states «At Num Pang, a rotating selection of sandwiches are freshly made-​to-​order daily.» You clearly aren’t abiding by «made-​to-​order» if you can’t even remove those pesky soapy leaves from someone’s sandwich.

Num Pang, you’ve made me a very happy vegetarian.
Technically, Num Pang is a «chain,» but I hesitate using that word to describe them. I’ve been to a couple locations, and each one brings something different to the table, in terms of highlighting various flavors in their Cambodian sandwiches. Speaking of sandwiches, you cannot eat at Num Pang without trying one of their classic creations. During my last visit, my friend almost ordered a coconut shrimp noodle bowl, but quickly backtracked and opted for a sandwich instead, after catching a glimpse of other customers’ orders.
At first, the concept of all sandwiches sharing the same fundamental ingredients may sound repetitive and overdone. Cucumber, pickled carrots, cilantro, and Num Pang’s famous chili mayo are included across the board, regardless of which option you choose. The shop is so confident in this combination that their menu humbly states: «Our sandwiches were created to be enjoyed as they are. Please, no modifications!» Personally, I find their food so tasty that modifications and substitutions aren’t really necessary (unless a customer has an allergy).
My most recent selection was the roasted cauliflower sandwich ($ 7.75), which has a base of Chinese and Thai eggplant spread, as well as a chili soy sauce. A last-​minute decision, as I mentioned earlier, the seasonal avocado pang on a quinoa baguette ($ 8.75) caught my friend’s eye. She paired it with a sweet mango beverage ($ 3.75). It’s worth noting that the bread — a choice of semolina or quinoa — is baked fresh daily, strengthening the meal’s heartiness and flavor.
The one thing you’ll notice as soon as you receive your order is how messy it is. It doesn’t matter if you use a million napkins — you’ll still need more. Upon taking your first bite, you’ll also notice the spiciness; it isn’t an uncomfortable, intense spiciness (though I do love very spicy food), more so a mild spice that complements the other ingredients and elevates the taste of the entire sandwich. The cucumber and pickled carrots provide a crunchy texture that cooperates nicely with the rest of the components. Likewise, my friend concluded that she had made the right decision in getting the avocado pang. It was simultaneously spicy, smooth, and flavorful.
My only critiques would be that the employee who made my sandwich put waaaaay too much chili mayo on it — to the point that it was dripping and spilling everywhere as I attempted to eat it, ultimately overpowering the entire meal. In addition, the line moved rather slowly and there was a bit of a wait while preparing our food. Other than those small factors, Num Pang is a Manhattan staple that everyone should try at least once… at each of their locations.

O enjoyed the blood orange juice and the skirt steak sandwich. Pricey but it’s not Houston Vietnam town.

Was excited to try this place. Had the catfish salad.
Menu reads peppercorn catfish. This tastes like an overly sweet glazed fish. Wasn’t really a fan and not what I expected at all. Could hardly taste the fish, just sweetness, and not even a hint of pepperyness.
The salad itself was good, classic viet flavors, fresh crunchy cabbage n veggies. Give you a ridic amount of dressing (on the side), would recommend not giving that much as a lot is probably going to waste.
Decent size line, but moves quickly and my order came out in a reasonable time frame.
Overall, I’d come back and try something else.

Wow. I love these sandwiches. I’ve had the pulled pork, pork belly, and catfish — all equally good. Maybe I’m overrating it because it is my introduction to Vietnamese food, but I love these sandwiches.
Another great thing about this place is consistency. I have been to multiple locations, multiple times, and every time the food is consistently good!

Num Pang is great for both vegetarians and meat lovers. I went here with a friend who got the pork belly and we had a hard time telling which was the pork sandwich and which was the portobello. Point is both looked delicious and filling!
If you’re a vegetarian, definitely try the portobello sandwich or the cauliflower sandwich. I didn’t like the spicy tofu very much because it was too much tofu and not enough flavor. Also try the seasonal pickles!

I can vividly recall every instance I’ve eaten from Num Pang. First was when they first came out. I followed my hands not my head, I knew I was wrong. The bread was too tough and the meat was too small.
A year has passed and it was time to see if the quality has changed with the seasons. The sauce was abundant, meat was juicy, and bread was soft. Life was good and the cute Asian cashier gave me a free Blood Orange Lemonade.
Fast forward to now– what have I done to deserve this? Bread was tough, pork belly was burnt, and the chicken sandwich I bought for someone else was dry. I ordered the Cambodian Iced Coffee with the sliver of hope it wasn’t just Vietnamese Coffee in sheep’s wool. I felt lied to, not just by them… but by myself.
Your time has come Num Pang; save yourself some grace and go quietly.

Five spice glazed pork belly sandwich was AMAZING. Highly recommend! Seasoning was great and the meat was so tender.
My boyfriend tried the pulled pork sandwich and enjoyed it as well.
I wanted to try the Cambodian iced coffee but they ran out… Maybe next time

I’ve stayed away from Num Pang since I had just an okay experience at the Union Square shop, but decided to give them another shot at the Madison Square location. There’s ample seating inside, Sriracha on all tables, and a long line around lunchtime.
It’s not that they’re super busy, just the fact that they take a long time to make each sandwich (which I guess is a good thing since that means they’re freshly made). But it took like 10 minutes to be able to order and pick up, and the line was only like 4 deep when I started.
I went with the 5-​spice Pork Belly sandwich. It was just the right amount of food to keep me full. The pork was tender and a little fatty, and it was stuffed with pickled vegetables and LOTS of cilantro. Note that there’s a sign that says they don’t do any substitutions on their sandwiches. So if you’re not a cilantro fan, tough luck.
All in all, much better than my last Num Pang experience, but at almost $ 10 for a banh mi, it won’t be a regular thing.
