Num Pang Sandwich Shop

Yes, please! Have had pretty much one of everything here and never had a bad sandwich yet. Not a big fan of the salads which are pretty plain, but why would you even get a salad at a Cambodian sandwich shop. They do a $ 6 sandwich time during the week days from like 3 – 6. It’s pretty great! If you haven’t tried it then I would stop by.
Only down side is you can’t customize anything and there is no seating so it’s take out only. If you have ever been in Chelsea Market you know you are not getting a seat anywhere so just pop in for a pick up and sit on the highland ;)

A Real Conversation I Had A Week Ago
Me: You know what the first thing I’m going to buy for myself when I move back to New York is?
Friend: That five-​spice pork belly sandwich you always talk about?
No more needs to be said, but I’ll say some more anyway. About two or three months ago, I got banh mi for almost 50% less at a small shop in California and as I was eating my sandwich, I actually had the thought, «I would pay the extra $ 4 – 5 to be eating Num Pang right now».
It’s not always perfect though, which is why I rate it 4 instead of 5 stars. Once, when I tried to pay with my Num Pang app, the cashier did not charge me the correct amount and made a big fuss about how I needed to pay more. Other times, the meat has been dry — not like a desert, but enough to notice. And, of course, it is more expensive than banh mi usually is. Still, it’s my go-​to if I want to treat myself without breaking the bank.

I will never know if there’s any merit to reviews at this shop as because they refused to cut our sandwich in half– a modification they say– so I took my money somewhere else. Heaven forbid if you have any allergies and ask them to leave out an ingredient. I can’t recommend anyone spending money here.

This place is pretty solid. Even though it’s in crowded Chelsea Market, it’s still pretty quick (less that 10 minutes from the moment you get in line until you get your sandwich). The sandwiches are not traditional Banh Mi’s but they are really good. Not over priced so genuinely good place.

Probably the best bahn mi style sandwich I have ever had. The bread is phenomenal. I especially liked the pulled pork. Adding a bit of the sriracha hot sauce they provide really seals the deal.

I had a perfect Chimi, large chunks of roasted Chicken dressed up with delish topping combos (hello, pickled Apple «Chili Yogurt») cucumber, cilantro & chili Mayo and pickled carrots. It was juicy, tarty, and spicy — All at once.

Don’t understand the hype. This spot is for people who have never had a quality banh mi sammich. I got the pork belly which had a very mediocre seasoning. The pickled carrot to meat ratio was disappointing and bummed me out. Mmm sriracha mayo — ground breaking!
I was impressed that there was a huge line but the food still came out incredibly quickly.

The organic spicy tofu sandwich was amazing! Loved it and could have eaten a second one. I liked that they offered chili soy instead of mayo; nice vegan touch! It’s a place I will definitely go back.

VEGETARIANS! Try this place. I love their Spicy Organic Tofu sandwich with spicy mayo. I actually always request for a side of extra spicy mayo as well because it’s so yummy I cant get enough.
I am a fan of vietnamese sandwiches so I figured I would give this Cambodian sandwich shop a try and it was a win. I’ve had this tasty place 3 times now and have been quite satisfied each visit. The textures and the flavors are perfect. Baguette is perfectly crisp and the texture of the tofu compliments it greatly.
Num Pang I will most certainly be back again.

The sandwich. Is it Banh Mi or Num Pang? Is it Vietnamese or Cambodian? The French have abidingly left those colonized contentious over baguette and pâté.
People voice superlatively about their sandwiches and how good they are. One Unilocaler said: ‘Left me wanting more’. And another: ‘[…]pork belly so delicious’.
Mmmmmm… right? I ordered instead ONLY a blood orange lemonade! I swear I could of heard the staff losing consciousness over what just had happen.
The drink itself, refreshing.

I love num pang because their shrimp sandwich is amazing. Sauce, bread, shrimp, every part of it is amazing. The one reason I’m docking a few stars is after waiting for my sandwich to be made, I saw the store workers accidentally drop my sandwich onto the counter and all the contents spilled out. They didn’t apologize to me but instead laughed nervously with each other. At that point I went outside to take a call and when I came back in just half a minute later, the sandwich was already ready. I wasn’t sure if they actually remade my sandwich or just took the stuffing that had fallen out and put it into a new piece of bread. Kind of poor form.

Roasted Chicken Chimi — Left me craving more. I’m always afraid the bread will be too hard, but this was slightly toasted on the outside and soft on the side. Very easy to chew. Chicken was moist and paired well with the pickled apple and chili yogurt.

I was torn between a 4 and a 5 for this unique Asian twist on an American Classic idea. If 4.5 was an option I think Num Pang would be right there! Continuing on our DIY food tour of Chelsea Market, my wife and I chose Num Pang as our second stop. After reading Unilocal reviews we had our heart set on getting the brisket sandwich. However, when we arrived to the counter to order we swayed strongly against the brisket sandwich. We landed on the chicken sandwich and ordered it as it comes.
After the first bite, it’s easy to tell why Num Pang is becoming an NYC sandwich favorite. The chicken is cooked in a chimi sauce and the sandwich is topped with shredded carrots, pickled apples and a chili yogurt sauce. The bread was fresh and soft. The carrots and apples added a nice depth of textures and the chili yogurt added the perfect amount of heat. The only quaff I have with the sandwich is that the chicken was dark meat. Other than that, Num Pang was a great second stop to our DIY food tour. I’ve never experienced Thai flavors on a sandwich before but I was very impressed with the operation Num Pang has going on. I would definitely come back and try some of their other sandwiches.

Was pleasantly surprised with this sandwich shop! Swung through Chelsea Market late one evening (after the dinner rush) and there was no line for Num Pang, so I figured I’d give it a shot because who doesn’t love pork belly! The bread was perfectly crispy to give the sandwich a nice crunch, the pork belly simply decadent with a great blend of spices, and the sauce and other veggies just completed a great grab-​and-​go sandwich, which was just what I was looking for. Will definitely recommend to others!

I ordered the Peppercorn Catfish, which was light in flavor, but delicious. I loved how much pickled vegetables they pack into the sandwich. The bread was perfectly toasted, with just the right amount of chewiness.
Finding food in Chelsea Market is sort of like online dating. You have so many options that it can be difficult to commit yourself. If you are hungry and want relatively healthy food that will make you full, go with Num Pang.

Can’t believe I haven’t yet reviewed this location. I’ve been here more than a handful of times and every time, the food tastes the same and is just as delicious as the time before. Consistency is key and you can be sure you’ll get a satisfying meal every time.
Just to note — this location gets extremely packed during lunch hours. Highly recommend ordering ahead of time through seamless and just picking up your food. It’ll save you a ton of time and your belly will thank you!

While the flavor of the sandwiches is pretty awesome, the price to portion ratio is absolutely not worth it. I asked the one of the employees which sandwiches were vegan, and she slightly rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders and said, «The meatless ones are vegan», as if it was obvious. Looking back, I should have clarified what vegan meant, and that it does not just mean meatless but also egg– and dairy-​free. But I went with the tofu sandwich, which was a little oily, but the happy marriage of protein to picked vegetables to dressing was great. I had some sriracha on the side to jazz it up. I was unfortunately still hungry afterwards, though :(

I averaged out my experiences between 3.3−4.5. Phenomenal was the word I had but now I’d have to say they lost a bit of their touch, its really just alright and that’s a shame. 4.0÷5.0
I’ve been here twice before and very satisfied with their pork duroc offering, which was truly remarkable. I was recommended this time around to order the cauliflower and chicken sandwiches during their happy hour amongst the many choices at Chelsea Market and both sandwiches fell flat on their face.
The bread was stale and dry, the chicken was equally dry and the sandwich as a whole wasn’t flavorful. The hot sauce was the only redeeming thing quality that saved the sandwich from being thrown out.
Aside from being a takeout joint, there are few seats to be found in Chelsea Market, one fact that is a sticking point for me. The service was nice but it’ll be the last time I take any recommendations from staff on what to order.

This shop is in Chelsea Market. It has received a lot of press for their sandwiches mainly. I received a recommendation from a resident New Yorker who recommended I try a few of her favorite sandwiches from here while at the market. After waiting for a while for them to open and highly considering getting something else from somewhere else, I am glad I waited. I wish I had gone there with a group of friends because there are so many options, its hard to choose just one.
Ultimately I chose the pork belly sandwich. It was prepared to order on a freshly baked toasted baguette. I enjoyed the sandwich and would not hesitate to try a different variety next time.

J’ai goûté la salade au poulet. Les crudités étaient bonne mais la viande un peu trop grasse.

Pas mal ce ptit banh mi. Bön bien sûr, c’est pas le meilleur de Manhattan et le plus bon marché mais il fait le job et dans le quartier, difficile de trouver à moins de 10 $.

9 $ 55 le malheureux petit sandwich, mes attentes étaient grandes.
Le sandwich de Num Pang (cambodgien) au poisson ressemble très grandement au bang mi vietnamien. On y retrouve tous les ingrédients (carottes, coriandre, concombre…) avec du poisson épicé à la place de la viande.
Le sandwich en soi est bon mais le pain est beaucoup trop sec et pas frais.
