I can’t use my usual system in rating restaurants for a dentist. So I will just say
they are courteous, friendly, and willing to help.
I walked in with slight pain, they found the cavity and filled it pdq. No pain during or after the procedure. No numbness as soon as I left the office.
They are a little more expensive than my insurance, but worth it.
Perlman and Levy do good work.

I got my smile back! YAY ME!
I cannot thank or say enough good things about Dr Joshua Perlman and his entire team.
I moved to NYC a few years ago and immediately did the «Who is your dentist?» to my friend with perfect teeth. He recommended Dr Perlman and I couldn’t have been happier.
I am a «wanna be» athlete and seem to damage my teeth while laughing and having fun. Years ago I fell (yes wanna be athlete issues) and knocked my chin so hard that I needed a root canal. This root canal was not completed by Dr Perlman but upon xrays he noted that the root canal needed to be re-​done as it did not fill the entire tooth. I also damaged the one next to it and it was never fixed. These are the same teeth that my wanna be athlete self chipped while tubing and starting they getting discolored because of the poorly done root canal. Dr Perlman fixed the first root canal, did the second and put ceramic crowns my bottom two teeth and made them look PERFECT. I was soooo embarrassed by them before but no longer!
Next he fixed the top teeth that had chips (this was from waterskiing– see a water theme here?) The top teeth has little chips in them that bugged the daylights out of me but was told I’d have to put Veneers on them to fix. Veneers scream big $$ plus I couldn’t do just 2, I’d have to do 4 and that screamed bigger $$$. Nope, Dr Perlman’s skilled self fixed those right up with magic. (Composite/​bonding)
Then comes to the old school fillings… the silver ones. Ones I have had since I was 10… those all needed to come out. Who wants a mouth full of silver??? Silver should be worn as jewelry not in your teeth. I HATED having them, especially the one that was close to the front and you could kinda sorta see when I smiled. It went over the entire tooth and hit both connecting teeth. (I swear my dentist when I was a kid just liked to drill away and was a sloppy mess.) Dr Perlman warned me we might have to put in a porcelain tooth and I was going to have to wait until next visit as he could only fix the one (which was AGAIN improperly done by my previous dentist). NOPE, after having Adele serenade me, (BTW…they give you Bose noise reduction headphones for peeps like me that don’t like to listen to the drilling sound) he sat me up, gave me a mirror and said SMILE… I screamed in delight and wanted to do the happy dance as the silver was GONE, GONE, GONE. All FABULOUS WHITE teeth.
DR PERLMAN IS A SMILE MAGICIAN!
EVERYONE on his team is a treat to deal with and if you are looking for a dentist do NOT hesitate to call Dr Perlman at Smile Spa. I am now a walking billboard for him and I get so many compliments on my «perfect» teeth. I’d like to say nobody knows all the stuff I had to get fixed but I put it out there in Unilocalville just because he is so fabulous and deserves the credit.
BTW, I am now sticking to snowboarding… no more water sports. Nope, wait, I just lied, I forgot I have kiteboarding lessons in the spring. I promise I’ll wear my mouth guard, Doc. I don’t want to mess with MAGIC!

Dr. Perlman is a wonderful dentist! I moved to NYC a year ago and was referred to Dr. P from a co-​worker. The office staff is amazing and they genuinely care about giving you the best experience. I had an accident that required me to get 2 veneers and he did an absolutely amazing job. I highly recommend this practice!

I have a confession to make. I’m a celebrity. A really desired one. Juuust kidding, but I really do feel like one the hour I’m inside Smile Spa every time I visit.
Smile Spa is a safe haven in the crowded sea of shady. I’m always excited to greet Dr. Joshua Perlman and team every time I go in. Dr. Perlman is so passionate about his work and his patients, and it really comes through in his work.
In the past, I have ALWAYS wanted a second opinion before proceeding with treatment plans. With Dr. Perlman, I defer to his best judgement because I know he is truly recommending what’s best for me. Many thanks.

I was dreading the search for a new dentist but decided to give Dr Krochak a try after a friend recommended the smile spa office. I found the office to be clean, promptly and efficiently run, and services to be professional from start to finish. Happily recommend this office.

I had to go to a lot of awful dentists in New York until I found Dr. Baran. She’s friendly, gentle, and always makes the process go quickly and painlessly. I would recommend her to anyone!

I found the staff and the Dentist here to be terrific. My first dentist in NYC!

I generally hate dentists, for obvious reasons. Not this one. Direct, gets to the issue, tells you straight what the options are instead of dramatizing small issues.
I have finally met a dentist I trust. Only took 55 years.

I am one of those Nervous Nellies who’s terrified of the dentist. That said, this was the best experience I’ve ever had, making a scary situation much more bearable. Kate was a top notch hygienist — caring, kind and thorough, and Dr Perlman was a dream. I’m actually looking forward to coming back to complete my work… Kind of!

Dr. Perlman is a very special dentist — energetic, efficient, with an amazing ability to connect with his patients. He is very, very talented and skilled — I recently had a bonding (on my upper left central incisor, which is the front and center of your smile) done with him. He finished the work with precision within 45 mins — and the end result? Flawless.
I also love his staff in the office — very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a happy and successful crew.

If you are anything like me and even the thought of going to the dentist makes you break out in a cold sweat and sheer panic, this is the dentist for you. Seriously. No judgment that I haven’t been in ages (again, total terror) and a very calm and caring atmosphere makes it all ok. They talk you through every single step and I ended up needing some very serious care so my comfort being their first priority means everything to me.
Does even the word ‘dentist’ bring about crippling nausea then trust me when I say this is where you need to go. Suck it up. It’s never as bad as you think it’s going to be and these people give you toys to squeeze, your choice of music, holding your hand, etc… whatever it takes to keep you coming back and making you see that ignoring your teeth and hoping that brushing is enough is not the way to care for yourself. They remind you that you deserve to feel good and not fear.

I have been to NYC Smile Spa for two regular cleanings and I just have to say that the staff is just SO amazing! I see Dr. Perlman, who is just super chill with a calm demeanor that instantly puts me at ease even though dentist trips can be a little daunting. I have to say that I am really looking forward to my next visit. Is that crazy!!!

I have been going to Dr. Krochak for approximately 20 years. I am very fearful of the dentist, with good reason, I have a very difficult mouth to work on. I was referred to Dr. Krochak by a friend who knew my fears and I have stayed with him for years.
While I still have the same difficult mouth, I find that Dr. Krochak and his staff try everything they can to help me stay calm. They are friendly and caring and they do their best to take the stress out of my visit.
While I cannot say I look forward to my appointments, I do not dread them nearly as much and do show up every six months which I never had done in the best. For this I thank Dr Krochak, his wonderful staff and hygientist.

I’m a dentist office skeptic but this place impresses even me. Jay and the office staff are fun and kind. That’s often not the case at front desks and I’ve learned not to expect otherwise but these guys surprise me. Madelyn is an incredibly gentle hygienist. I hate getting X-​rays but hers are easy and over in moments. And then there’s the reason why you go — Dr Perlman. I have reasons not to automatically trust dentists but I trust Dr Perlman. He’s smart as a whip and is completely focused on my best interests. That’s been rare for me. I give these guys an A+

I cannot say enough about Dr. Perlman.
I’m one of those people who has severe anxiety over the dentist. When I was younger I saw someone who made a mistake while drilling, and I’ve had complications with the teeth surrounding ever since, no one ever wants to hear their dentist say «oh shit» with a drill in your mouth.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Perlman for a few years now, and he believes in his work, believes in what he does with his patients, has empathy when you need it, and will also tell you when you need to toughen up. He will always make sure to spend ample time talking you through procedures and is always available if you need him.
I don’t know what I’ll do if I ever move out of NYC — I’ll be taking flights regularly for my cleanings. :)

I love going to Smile Spa to see Dr. Krochak! He takes great care of me and is very personable. Before I started going to him, I had severe headaches and my jaw would hurt really bad from time to time. Dr. K looked at my teeth and told me that I grind my teeth at night and therefore it causes these headaches and pain. He gave me a night guard and that was the magic that broke the spell!!! No more headaches and jaw pains in the morning. Yay!!! I love his preventative approach and willingness to work with me on my FSA budget. He is really worth the visit.

I don’t write Unilocal reviews very often, however, I wanted to go out of my way to saw how wonderful my experience has been with Dr. Baran. Dr. Baran has been my regular dentist for the past couple of years and also did my invisalign. I can not stress enough how kind and pleasant she is each appointment. I was a tough patient, especially with my invisalign, as I did not wear my retainers as much as I probably should have and she was extremely patient and did what she could to make sure I got the best results possible.
I would highly recommend her as a dentist. I just moved to Chicago and wish I could have here here!

I have utter confidence in Dr. Perlman’s competence and capabilities. I came in originally for a check-​up and cleaning. He found a tiny cavity and had it done and filled – painlessly – within minutes. Also got a night guard that I don’t like but actually DO wear – a feat alone, given how uncomfortable past night guards and retainers have been.

I hadn’t been to the dentist in over 2 years, and was nervous about what I was in for. Dr. Perlman and his staff took amazing care of me, walking me through every step of the dental work and the administrative paperwork.
Everyone is warm, understanding, and extremely caring.
What made the biggest difference for me was for level of comfort they provide — noise canceling headphones and an IPod full of EVERY type of music you can think of, which means I couldn’t hear the dental drill or any of the tools.
I actually was so relaxed at one point, I’m surprised I didn’t fall asleep. I never thought I’d say this, but I sincerely look forward to visiting the office when it’s time for a cleaning. I’ve recommended a good friend and he’s had the same awesome experience.
