Been going here for years. Never been disappointed(except that one time when the ladies were on vacation). The food is my version home cooked comfort food. I go here whenever I go downtown. It’s like going home or your mother’s sisters house always warm and pleasant. The food is the best you can find. It is a rare gem. Do not just walk by this place I highly recommend the food you will not be disappointed and it is definitely date worthy for the down to earth and those seeking that home cooking experience.

I’ve been coming here for years. Friendly staff. Cheap DELICIOUS food. It can be hard to find seating during lunch though.

This food is some of the best Indian/Pakistani food that I’ve had in Manhattan. The customer service is non-existent, but if you look past that fact and enjoy your Eggplant and Spicy Chicken with a Samosa, you will be pleasantly surprised. It’s inexpensive for the amount of food that they give you. Also, it’s open til 4AM, I’ve only had it sober, I can only imagine how good it’s going to be when I’m drunk. Enjoy this place. Also, if you walk in with a smile and are genuinely a kind person, you may be able to get the lady that takes your order to smile back. I did it. It was worth it(-: Words of wisdom — do not dine in or order delivery, you will have a bad experience. You’re welcome in advance.

Food is decent and price is reasonable. The problem is one of the servers is rude, and obnoxious. The young large man Serving today charged extra to foreigners and when questioned mumbled something and brushes it off. The European men shrugged and took their food and did not get the money back. When I ordered my food, he tried to charge me extra as well. When pointed out he made a mistake he got mad, ripped the bag open and viola he was wrong. No apologies for his mistake and told me to take my food and leave. Been going here for a few years and he had been rude before, but this was by fast the worst. Never coming here again. Wonder the owner knows about this type of behavior. There is no zero star for reviews as this place deserves it.

Meh. Place is kind of a dive, but I don’t mind that. The smell was wonderful, but the spices just weren’t there. The lamb was extremely greasy. Lamb and two sides for $ 8.95. There are better Indian/Pakistani places in and around lower Broadway.

Someone told me to try the chicken makni. Not worth the trip even if you live upstairs. Makni was hard to chew on and the attitude by the staff was bad.

(Our team ordered delivery) They put my Chicken Karahi entrée and my Yogurt Curry and Navranta Korma sides all into the same pathetic to-go container, so that I was eating a mysterious too-spicy soup. Also, the Chicken Karahi includes sharp bones that give your mouth painful surprises. Their deserts are good though!

I was reallllly looking forward to this place. Two of my trusted foodie friends were huge fans and one was determined to take me. We went in high hopes and sat down to enjoy what I had hoped/heard could possibly be a life changing experience. That was not what happened. The place has combos of dishes you can order. It doesn’t seem to really matter though, because the prices are almost all the same. Two side dishes and one main is basically what it comes down to for a little less than 9 bucks. You also get to choose if it is over rice or if you want naan. Definitely do the naan. The bread is the best thing in the place. They hand roll it out per order. It is nice and hot and really enjoyable. I got for dishes, the spinach, the cauliflower, and some chicken tikka masala. It was not bad in taste but every dish was watery and not rich to the palate. I heard this was not the case before. For the finale though, as I kept eating, I found a hair. Not just any hair, but a kinky black pube. Or muji, as they say in Nepal. That ended my meal and my experience for this place. As I trust the taste of my very foodie friends, I know this place was not this way before. I hope that they are able to check themselves before they wreck themselves!

The food arrived relatlively quickly but it was quite possibly the worse curry I’ve ever had. The lamb was flavorless and the rice didn’t taste good at all. I definitely would not recommend this place especially since there’s so many options downtown.

Been coming here at least once a month(usually more) for 8 years. Amazing Indian food. The only Indian restaurant in NYC where you can get a combination of vegetables/meats for $ 7-$ 9. At other Indian restaurants it’s $ 7 per vegetable dish. Food is excellent. Family run(same workers for the past 8 years). Very affordable. I will continue to come to this restaurant forever.

My first meal I ate when I took my job almost ten years ago in the FD was from here. There were two surly women who would coldly serve you your food. Sometimes they seemed to be downright hostile, but like a Povlovian dog I kept coming back because prices were reasonable and the food was tasty, which is a winning combo for the poor and hungry. Nowadays. the place seems to be under new management, and while the service is more friendly(which is to say that I don’t feel like they hate me) the food has gone downhill. The curry chicken is chewy sometimes, and other times it is disconcertingly pink and squishy. I don’t ever want any meat I eat to be squishy. I’ve come back maybe 3 times under the new management and every time the place smells like the naan is burning, the veggies are watery, and the door is insanely heavy(this has always been). The door should be used as a training vehicle in a strongman competition. Will I come back? Yes. I still have my Punjabi food cravings. I am only human. Do I miss the old days when the two women would look at me and whisper to each other and laugh before they would smack my delicious lunch down and demand payment? Well, that answer is a little more complicated.

Everytime i am in Tribeca, I go to this place! 1-This is(i heard) one of the oldest places to serve Pakistani food(synonyms North Indian Food) 2-Cabbie favorite– and boy they are picky eaters! 3-Its Halal(slaughtered meat like Kosher) most muslims prefer it! 4– Named after a famous Tea house in Lahore, Pakistan where mostly liberal, conservative, actors, Painters, poets and progressive writers of 50s used to go… I mean famous big writers like Manto, Faiz, Intezar Husian, Saadeqian, and Ashfaq Ahmed, to name a few… stop!!! This is not that intellectual spot not even close so do not even dream! 5– It used to be a great place to eat(i heard) but due to frequent changes in owner ship it has become just ok– but still great 6– It used to be «more dirty» «back alley looking joint» like«Freddys BBQ ribs»(if you follow House of cards) than what its now! 7– No Alcohol– its halal dudes! 8– Best for take outs 9– Portions vary and depend on the mood of the guy– if his wife/gf treated him well you are lucky 10– try it! Remember its not a RESTURANT, its tiny so %^&k ambiance and all the other things, its authentic(close) Pakistani food!

Sooooooo goooood!!! Had a night out with my best friend and her parents and we ate here after. I will definitely be coming back. It was definitely something new to my taste buds. We had the chicken masala, tikka, naan, and a curry dish. (Excuse any spelling errors for the names). I think I’ve discovered a new favorite cuisine! :)

Best Punjabi food in this area. Delicious kadi and saag. Mixed clientele of native eaters and businessmen from I imagine FiDi.

Pakistan Tea House NY Manhattan Tribeca 12pm Thursday 10th January 2015 Two Stars Open late night. I had the chicken tikka over rice with a homemade naan to go. The naan had no salt and lacked that buttery taste. The chicken was dry. The sauce was okay. The rice was fine. This place should only be eaten after a night of heavy drinking.

i ordered on two occasions over the summer and was really disappointed. The recipes were definitely different. I started to get a hunch that maybe there was new management. I had another taste today and the disappointment is renewed. It’s sad to see Pakistan Tea House go. It was my favorite eatery for almost 10 years.

The disappearing Pakistan Tea House one of many disappointments of modern manhattan. No dish has devolved as much as the once unforgettable mixed vegetable. Now reminiscent of bad marinara on rice. While price, portions, or product are not what they were, PTH is still a destination. Nan also still maybe best in Manhattan. Perhaps some future ownership will return it to past glory.

I really wanted to love this restaurant. When I walked in, it reminded me of a smaller version of the former Chat Khara in Murray Hill.(Does anyone else remember that long-gone hub of strikingly authentic Pakistani food, where 95% of the clientele were cab drivers who knew from authentic Pakistani food?) The steam table looked promising, arrayed as it was with a wide variety of meat dishes and veggie dishes. However, to my great dismay, the food had to be microwaved after being served into styrofoam and before it was handed to me. I don’t know if I just came at the wrong time of day(late evening), or whether their food is always kept less-than-piping hot-until it is ordered. The taste was acceptable, but I am not crazy about their model. And I am not sure you’re supposed to put styrofoam in the microwave in the first place.

Definitely not as cheap as the other south asian delis but hardly expensive either. My lamb curry, saag, and mixed korma were all quite tasty and the portion is generous enough. The masala chai really hit the spot too. Sadly, their naan kinda sucks. You see them make it there but it still turns out dense and hard so I’m not really sure what’s going on. Also I swear I asked for roti and the guy was like yeah roti, and gave me naan. Maybe they save the roti for the regulars. But you can side step all this by just getting rice.
