I went here with my friend. She got a small fries for $ 0.99. The fries are really good. Super crunchy on the outside and thick enough to be soft and potato-y on the inside. Just how I like my fries. Cheap and delicious! Nothing beats that in my opinion!

Want good hot dogs at reasonable price in NYC? Then this is the place to go. Their papaya drink is also very good. FYI, there’s seating at the pizzeria next door.

Ooops– I was trying to remember Gray’s Papaya on the UWS but accidentally took some friends here. The vendor seemed confused by us, didn’t have onions besides the weird brown slurry, and overall was a really mediocre experience. Didn’t get food poisoning, but I wouldn’t eat here on purpose again.

I loved this dog! Got it with the sweet onion sauce and mustard. Hotdog was hot and popped upon bite. Yummy!!!

Staff is extremely rude and disrespectful. I live near that store and because of their worst customer service never ever going back there. Even though I would crave a hot dog, I told myself never go back there, when everyday I walk by I see their rude faces always mad and negative staring. They don’t speak any English and extremely rude. Only tourist who have no idea go there. Would not recommend this place at all! Hire someone who at least speaks English and has a hint of what customer service is! Will only go back there when i see presentable staff!

2.5 stars. The hotdogs are super affordable here. 2 hot dogs + 16 oz drink for just $ 4.95(they have other similar variety combo for $ 4.95, too). This place is a chain and the one we stopped by to try was right opposite of the Penn Station. When my husband saw it, he remembered it being on Anthony Bourdain, so he wanted to try it immediately. Out of whim, we just got 16oz papaya juice and a corn dog. Let me just say that the corn dog was down right disgusting. Once we ordered the corndog, they grab a corndog that was so super dark brown like it had been refried and refried over and over many times already and dump it quickly into a pool of oil for 1 – 2 min to heat it up. They then took it out of a fryer and wrapped it in a foil to give it to you. Honestly, I took a look and was so grossed out by a pool of oil the corndog has absorbed. It wasn’t even crunchy. but really felt like the corndog flour just absorbed a large pool of oil into itself that the flour that was supposed to be crunchy… was so soggy… and worse, soggy of oil! I took my first bite and knew. this was a big mistake. The papaya juice tasted artificially too sweet and creamy. Even though we only got just a 16 oz cup to share, it took us a while to finish it because it was just too sweet. Overall, affordable place if you are looking to fill your stomach. But otherwise… complete waste of time if you are a foodie and looking for something decent to eat.

Ordered two dogs and a drink. People went because of the layover but hey it’s New York what are you expecting for cheap great eats? 5 start services? I had no problem. They were fast, I ordered we left with it, the end. It’s not for tourist I will say that much. They will quickly say it’s too fast pace and they are rude. Know what you are ordering and know what you are going into and you will enjoy.

damn it Anthony Bourdain, you got me again! After two hours at the Empire State Building, my girlfriend and I were hungry. I immediately saw Papaya Dog and thought, «omg, I saw this place on Anthony Bourdain’s show, Layover, I have got to try it». Turns out I got this place confused for Papaya Gray(the real hot dog place on AB’s show) lol Yes these hot dogs are cheap, but they are a sorry excuse for a hot dog. The sausages are so narrow and small that you can’t even see the sausage inside the hot dog once the employees put it in. They also want $ 0.75 in addition if you want to add hot cheese or chili on top of the dog. The fountain sodas here are also extremely flat. I am not impressed with Papaya Dog. at all! Even the Costco $ 1.50 hot dog combo is a better value than Papaya Dog. By the way, apparently you can eat your hot dogs and other foods next door inside the pizza place. I found that out too late after struggling to eat both my dogs and drink my soda on the side of the street at 2am.

Two dogs and a smoothie for $ 5 within view of the Empire State Building. Onion sauce is sweet. Dogs are snappy. The buns can get soggy – so they are best eaten immediately. No Seating here, but you can sit at Pizza King two doors down. Really. They won’t yell at you. The only danger in sitting here is being 10 feet away from some tasty New York Style pizza. Slices range from $ 2.75 to $ 3.50 here. Fold them when you eat them. Eating with a friend? Combine the destinations and get two dogs, a smoothie and two cheese slices with a 16 oz drink for $ 10. Split them!

Their Hot dogs and Juices are great but, their fries are a must try! Customer service was fast and efficient. The only downfall is that they do not have a seating area. Location is perfect also!

Standard NYC stand hotdog place. Fast service. Good dogs. I wish they had the juice selection of Papaya King but that was further out of my way. Gets me my hotdog fix however. Eat up!

Hot dog was garbage, I could have brought a generic pack of hotdog buns from the corner grocery store and some franks to make this. They didn’t even have any coconut champagne left wich they just called piña colada Haha. The only redeeming quality was the papaya drink was good, not great but good a little watery, but i expected that when I read the reviews for the other locations which said it was a hit or miss with how they make the drinks.

Very good and inexpensive dogs! The service is quick and friendly. Nice combination with the pizza place next door, haha. Fun while eating in the go or a late night snack.

I’m ALLLLL about cheap eats while exploring the city! I’ve been missing In n Out back in CA/TX but Papaya Dog comes close. We tried their cheeseburger($ 3) … with fries and drink it’s $ 5. Bun is nicely toasted to perfection and patties are grilled to order. What comes out is something close, though not in n out quality and taste — for the price(and size!). They serve hot dogs, corn dogs, philly cheese steaks, but really… I’m here for their burgers… and I’m ok with that! :)

This is just a poor imitation of the famous Gray’s Papaya and Papaya King. The hot dogs here are grilled and do have a bit of crunch to them. However, they are noticeably smaller here and not as flavorful. If they were cheaper, it might even out, but that is not the case. Their special is two hot dogs and a soda for $ 5 — the same price for less. Stick to the originals.

Save your money tourist and do not go here. I know the bargain prices are alluring but just say no because the hotdogs are disgusting. I ended up going next door and grabbing a slice of pizza to cure my food belly cravings.

Yuk. If you’re into crunchy hot dogs that weren’t cooked properly, and soggy French fries that were cooked in oil that was used so much that it’s black, then this is the place for you! Just take a closer look at what they are serving, how they are serving and displaying it. Looks gross and old, and the workers don’t look like they care. Compare this to a Gray’s Papaya and you’ll see the difference. The corn dogs looked gross. Take a look at the oil they cook the fries in; it’s right there as you’re ordering. Now I don’t like to give places a bad rating, but it just seems like no one there really cares here. I know it’s not the best job in the world, but businesses have to generate money. They must be making money somehow. Maybe from the tourists that go to the Empire State building nearby.

Honestly… Not too impressed. Nothing was on the«grill» long enough to get any benefit — the hot dogs were still sopping wet and pink, and the buns were still so soft they fell apart as I ate the hot dog. The papaya juice was the best part, and even that tasted artificial and filled with sweeteners. Do yourself a favor and walk an extra few blocks to 99 Cent Pizza(3255th Avenue).

Who would have thought that a place that primarily sells hot dogs and cheesesteaks, also has breakfast foods. If you come here early in the AM, you can get yourself 2 eggs on a roll for $ 0.99 + Tax = $ 1.07. Yes, they charge you tax, so bring some spare change or expect to get $ 0.93 back in change. Surprisingly, the whole eggs are fresh from the carton, cracked on the grill, and yolk broken to cook extra fast. A slather of butter is put on each side of a roll, if you opt for it, and within minutes, the eggs are thrown in the roll, wrapped in aluminum foil and brown bagged. Before you go, don’t forget to grab a couple ketchup packets to give it some added flavor, because who likes plain eggs with no seasoning? The bread is fresh, and eggs cooked just right, making for a very plain and ordinary but decent sandwich for $ 1.00. It’s cheap, and not too many brick & mortar establishments can beat that. If eggs on a roll is too plain for you, they do have such additional items as cheese and sausage patties to throw on top.
