Piano Lessons NYC

I moved to NYC in April 2014 and was interested in learning the piano the traditional way (by the sheet, with focus on technique). After few searches, I found Piano Lessons NYC to be the one, primarily because Mayuko herself responded to my queries, unlike most music schools that test prospective students’ interest before connecting them with tutors. I found the initial interaction with Mayuko very pleasant and promising.
After we met and arranged for a schedule, I found her to be very patient and persevering with me. Being a novice of sorts, I needed a bit of guidance but she encouraged and pushed me at the same time. At the end of each session, I felt I was making progress and motivated to prepare for the next lesson. It is important to note that every student can be different and a good tutor is one who has the temperament to deal with this varied audience.
Sadly, I had to move out of NYC in February 2015 but I will cherish those classes at Piano Lessons NYC. I have no doubt about Mayuko’s credentials as a tutor and would recommend her to any friend or acquaintance interested in learning the piano at New York.

As a new year’s resolution, I decided to brush off my piano and start practicing again, but soon realized I was in need of proper training that as a self-​taught pianist, I had never had much luck with other instructors.
That all changed after I took a complimentary lesson with Mayuko. Within the first ten minutes, knew I would she would be my teacher. Not only is she extremely skilled and knowledgeable of the many different styles of playing, but she’s also just the ideal instructor who is as patient as she is kind, while constantly pushing me to improve and hone my skills. I’m particularly interested in Baroque composers and she’s not only helped me to improve in that style, but has introduced me to many new composers I wasn’t familiar with and whose pieces I can now play perfectly.
I would definitely recommend her to both my 6-​year old nephew and someone my age (30) as she’s very comfortable with students of all ages and backgrounds. I truly can’t recommend her enough!
