It pains me to say this but I had a pretty bad experience with this tailor. I needed a suit tailored in 7 days and contacted Pierre after reading about him both on Unilocal and on a couple other websites. Knowing that 7 days might be a tight window for some tailors, I called in advance and asked if I should make a reservation and how long it typically takes to tailor a suit. He couldn’t even give me a ballpark, so I brought it anyway to have him assess it. I tried on the suit in front of him, and he repeatedly said that it needed very minor alterations, even comparing it very favorably to someone he tailored for earlier who had a much more challenging suit. Pierre brought in the sides of the jacket for a more fitted look and hemmed the pants. After trying it on and discussing terms, I agreed to pick it up in a week. Pierre said that he would call me when it was ready. The day before I needed the suit I still hadn’t heard from Pierre so I called him and he got extremely defensive on the phone with me. In all of my interactions with Pierre I approached him extremely respectfully — he’s a small, older man who clearly cares deeply about his craft and is good at it — but he was generally very rude back to me in all of my interactions. Pierre gives off a vibe like he’s doing you a huge favor tailoring your suit for you. When I asked if I could come and pick it up, he seemed to not recall when I said I needed the suit and said that no tailor in the city could tailor that quickly. He asked if I thought he was a dry cleaner. I offered to pay him more to have it completed sooner or to just pick it up from him without him completing it. In the end, the day I picked up the suit he was the rudest. He actually called me a liar to my face because he thought he had more time to work on the suit. I approached him in frankly an overly apologetic manner and never became argumentative, so the entire customer service experience was a massive disappointment. Pierre charged me $ 60 extra dollars to have it done early (again, this was 7 total days), running the entire bill up to $ 240 for extremely minor tailoring, by his own admission. Definitely consider this before dealing with Pierre. I have no doubt that he’ll continue to do well because I’m sure many of his clients don’t use Unilocal,but honestly he was one of the rudest (even by NYC standards) people I’ve had the displeasure of forking over hundreds of dollars to.

Pierre is an incredibly knowledgeable tailor. He is not that much more expensive then your run of the mill tailor but he is more than worth it. He does a lot of work for the studios and really goes out of the way to explain his recommendations. I wish I could bring him to LA with me.

Pierre is the best of old world tailors. His attention to detail and expertise is the best I’ve ever experienced. He is expensive. And he really is the best tailor around. I would have a hard time going to another tailor after going to Pierre.
