Loved this place. But its closed sigh**** another one bites the dust in Harlem

It appears this place is CLOSED and up for sale. Too bad, it was good.

Honestly, not very impressive. Seems anyone could buy the equipment and dish out the quality of desserts they serve by just reading some online instructions for waffles & crepes. No real imagination, art, or finesse to what they’re doing. And for the prices they ask for for ONECREPE, I’d expect much more. Didn’t help that they also tried to push their coffee on me, as if they had the greatest coffee ever. I love coffee. I did not love their coffee. Obviously they don’t realize the difference between knowing how to brew great coffee vs. how to pick out the most expensive coffee at whatever boutique grocer they get it from.

Four stars for what the owner’s trying to do in the neighborhood and making a yummy belgian waffle. It was surprisingly small for $ 6, but cooked very nicely and the strawberries/whipped cream were fresh and went very well with it. It was shared as an after-lunch dessert, and the cashier was nice enough to move the bench outside so we could sit in the fresh air since it was pretty warm inside. Unfortunately, what this place is really missing is seating space – there’s just the one bench(for two), making this pretty much a to-go spot only. When it’s a dessert/treat like a crêpe or belgian waffle though, you want to be able to sit at a table and enjoy it. Maybe if he’s successful he’ll be able to expand or provide a bit more seating… I hope so, because this is a nice addition to the area!

So what do you do when you live in Harlem, have a craving for a Belgian waffle, and the truck that serves them is just too darn far away? Cry into your pillow? Throw something at the wall? No, no… okay, well maybe before Plick’s opened up. Now that they’re here, all you have to do is come uptown to get your sugar fix. I had a Belgian waffle with whipped cream and chocolate syrup($ 5). It was delish! I didn’t even mind that I wasn’t being served by a food truck. I also had the sugar and butter crêpe($ 5) which was good, but I ate it cold. I was too greedy to wait the 30 seconds it would’ve taken to warm it up… smh. The prices are more than reasonable. The owner/cook is super sweet and piles your waffle sky high with said toppings, so I don’t think that the prices are unfair. Be forewarned though… this is a small, new place. There is one waffle maker and one crêpe maker. My guy and I happened to be the only 2 people in the shop at the time, so the wait was minimal, but I can imagine the wait time growing quickly if too many people converge at once.

ridiculous waffles for $ 4 – 5! harlem has been needing a creperie. rated down for lack of seating and the owners’ obvious disappointment at my use of the scoutmob deal. try the waffles with grand marnier and strawberries.

They just increased the price. I don’t know if the prices now justify what you get for it. They are really good but I don’t want to pay that amount for crepes & waffles in that neighborhood. I was becoming a regular but no more after that…

4 stars for the crêpe: It was yummy, soft, just the right amount of chewiness, aromatic because of the butter, and fresh because I watched him make it. 3 stars for the price: it’s Wash heights. I know I’ve paid much more for much less, but I guess I’m just saying for the size I thought it was a little much. 4 stars for the service: the guy making my crêpe was friendly and nice. But I literally watched him make it on the singular crêpe machine, and after 20 seconds I found myself awkwardly looking around for things to look at so it didn’t seem like I was scrutinizing his crêpe-making skillz and it was a good 10 min of forced self-distraction. 3 stars for the lack of seating. This is basically a take-out/on-the-go place, but crepes and waffles are not like ice cream where you can walk and eat at the same time. Plus my plastic fork did not help me eat it whatsoever so I literally took crêpe to face and scarfed it down. An avg 3.5 but the place is clean, conveniently located on Broadway, and it’s good quality items so I’ll round it to 4.

«EXPIRED» SCOUTMOBDEALSUPPOSEDLY: Why go? Great concept, but here’s a tip for a new business in Harlem. If you want quality, evangelical customers to patronize your business, don’t send them completely out of their way with a bait-and-switch ScoutMob deal then say it’s expired when I arrive. Especially before I even had the chance to read the menu. Geesh! I would have gladly paid full price until he started telling a gigantic lie about you don’t know why the deal is up. I was just about to blog, tweet, Unilocal, foursquare, foodspot, etc this business until the owner put a bad taste in my mouth. Free marketing gone to waste.

Cute hole-in-the-wall, off-sets the other businesses on the block, with real class, playing french pop music in its bold red ambiance. Don’t plan on staying and enjoying your waffle or crêpe there, though. There’s only a bench in the window, taken up half of the sitting room by a food display. I suggest they invest in a mini-bar/counter on the side so people can relax and enjoy the wonderful waffles(haven’t tried the crepes yet!). And for $ 5 for whatever toppings you want?! Don’t skimp on the choices, pile ‘em all on! My one concern is the rinky-dink plastic fork provided, doesn’t do the job very well, although, the owner may be smarter than I think, because the fork prevents me from inhaling the waffle in one bite, like I’m tempted to do!

Really tasty crêpe. This is a nice edition to the bleak food options uptown. I hope they stick around.

Plick’s has delicious belgian waffles and crepes that are of great quality! The sweet enticing aroma from the waffles and crepes lured my bf and I inside. We both were glad that this place opened in the neighborhood! And, the staff was very helpful and friendly. The crêpe w/nutella and strawberries was very fresh and delicious, but my bf & I thought the belgian waffles stood out more. First bite of the waffle was sensational as my taste buds were beyond content. The texture and quality of the waffle was excellent. The portion size of the waffle was small for the price, but for the quality it was worth it. Will definitely come back here to satisfy my sweet tooth over some yummy belgian waffle w/strawberries, powered sugar and syrup soon. :)

over all, it was really good. I went this very new place cuz had a Scoutmob deal and had a work near by. The workers was very very nice and friendly and waffles and crapes were really good so I was a bit disappointed for a little things. 1, in the Scountmob’s description of Plick’s said can choose crapes or waffles but I couldn’t choose waffles or crapes at the store. you can have only sugar & butter crepes for free deal. Well, that was the free offer so I didn’t mind. but I just wished I knew. 2, the store hours was wrong. in the description, open from«7:00am» but I got there about 11:20am and the workers said they are not open yet so I had to wait another 10 – 15 min. (*also in the Unilocal info too) 3, only 2 workers in there and they have the pans for crepes and waffles is just 1each so the waiting line got bit longer then I expected. I had to wait another 15 – 20 min and it was kinda too long to wait for the snacks. again, I really satisfied the food and very open, friendly atmosphere so I’d love to comeback but I was a bit worried about service level could be… cuz I don’t think I’d normally wait more then 15 min just for the easy snacks personally. Maybe I’m are bit impatient… If you live near by and want to have a nice little snacks with enough time or don’t mind to wait, highly recommended.(especially with the free deal!)

This is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! I just tried the Baileys and caramel crêpe and it was delicious! I added the extra strawberry topping and it completely put it up there! I hope it thrives in this neighborhood, I’ve seen a lot of great places come and go because the people around here simply can’t or don’t want to appreciate the finer more cultural places. sad but true! Love loved my experience! aka the actual crêpe. I just really hope this place doesn’t become a local hangout for the hoodlum dudes from outside, smh
