Came here to make a large print for my grandfather’s funeral from a very poor-​quality original photo (the ONLY photo that my grandfather posed for in a nice suit). The request also involved some photoshopping, since there was a photo-​bomber in the background. They produced a lovely print very quickly and for a reasonable price, and if I needed their services, I would definitely go again.

Beautiful job and great service, perfect for pros and non pros if you’re looking for quality printing. I will use them again for sure.

Efficient and friendly are the best words to describe this photo lab. Knowledgeable photo pros are here to offer suggestions both pro and con. I would highly recommend this for archival photo work. I had an archival photo scanned immediately as I waited. Reproductions take a bit longer.

I cannot speak to the quality of the work at Print Space, since I ultimately did not have my work done there. This review is about their customer service. [Hence, two stars for benefit of the doubt; but it would be one star for service.]
This facility may offer quality service to professionals. However, I can’t recommend it for people like me, who don’t have expertise and who are relying on the establishment to give them guidance. Or maybe it is just the particular employee I dealt with.
I had a small reproduction that I wanted scanned and enlarged to match another print which was already framed and which I brought along with me.
I showed the Print Space employee the small reproduction that was to be scanned, along with the framed finished print that it would hang next to. I explained that I wanted to match the first print in look. She sort of glanced at the original work, as if it were some extra step that wasn’t relevant to the task at hand.
I asked what she suggested as far as paper choice and resolution, since I didn’t have the expertise to make an informed choice. She showed me the range of resolutions. I repeated that I really did not know what to select and I asked her what might look similar to the other print. She just looked at me without saying anything. That is passive aggressive behavior and it went on like that.
Finally I asked her, «Should I go somewhere else?» [This was her opportunity to tell me that they normally don’t provide this sort of guidance to customers and that their clientele are professionals — or whatever the case may be. Fair enough. In that case, I would seek out a place that is more oriented to serve people like me who aren’t experts and who do need a hand in making our choices.]
But she said, no, that she would help me. However, several times during our brief time together, she repeated this behavior of just looking at me without saying anything when I asked her a question.
The next hurdle was selecting the paper. I asked her if she would make a suggestion. In response, she took me to look through a big book, where she proceeded to flip through a wide range of papers. I don’t think I could have kept up with her, even if I did know what I was looking at. And, she pointed out a glossy paper, which even I knew did not match the print I already had. When I asked her for confirmation that the paper was not right for my job, she agreed. This whole rigmarole with showing me multiple paper choices, including one that I obviously should not select, I also interpret as passive aggressive behavior. I don’t know what her motivation or intent was, but her behavior was clear.
The place may be good as long as you’re not counting on help, at least not from that person.
Also, it is really dark in there. I didn’t realize that a photo reproduction place was actually supposed to be dark like in the developing room. How can you look at the work? But I do acknowledge that I’m no expert in this.

Printspace is fantastic. I use them all the time for inkjet prints (I’m a photographer). The staff are friendly and super helpful/​knowledgeable. Very fast service too.
Only tip for anyone going– the elevators in the building are always super slow or broken… Which can be a super pain. Not any fault of Printspace’s of course– just something to be prepared for.

I used Print Space for my wedding photos and again recently to print a portrait off of an old damaged negative, which they fixed by retouching. I’m not a photographer but wanted high-​quality prints. Even though this is a pro lab, I didn’t feel the least bit intimidated going there. The man I worked with was extremely patient and explained everything from the process scanning and reworking the negative to the pros and cons of the different papers I could print on. All of my prints came out perfectly. Highly recommended.

I’m giving Print Space Photo lab a two star because most of my prints did come out nicely; but getting them was very frustrating. I’m disinclined to use them again for developing my photos because of my experience.
The young woman who helped me seemed to be distracted or inattentive. She gave me the wrong time to come pick up my prints, and then when I came back a second time (two days later), I found out she had only marked me down for digital copies. I believed I was clear in asking for both.
The person who helped me the second time offered to make the prints for free to make up for the confusion. I appreciated that.
The third time I came back to pick up the prints, the staff had no idea about the order. They had to call the place that develops the prints to see if they had an order under my name. Luckily they did, and I got the prints; but it seemed that someone had, again, mislabeled the order.
It seems like this is not an overall problem — people seem to have good experiences here. My experience was just very frustrating.

I’ve been working with 35 mm film as a photographer since 1997. It’s gotten increasingly difficult (and expensive) to continue this art form.
This was my first (and unfortunately probably my last) experience with Print Space Photo Lab. I dropped off 3 rolls of film (1 Kodak Portra, 1 Fuji Velvia and one regular Kodak). I’m sure they did a fantastic job with the developing… but the prints are another story.
The photos came back washed out and sloppy, some not even in good focus. I have a good eye, good camera and used professional film. This should not have been the case.
I’m extremely dissappointed and will be trying to see if the error is in the print making over the next week. A review update is hopefully in order.
But I’m not impressed. And the price tag is absurd. $ 20 a roll? No thanks.

Super friendly staff and great results. I know nothing about photo editing but knew I wanted to make a nice print of a digital photo. An employee patiently helped me crop my photo on one of their stations so it would fit in a standard size frame («Can we try cropping off from just the top again?») and then patiently explained the different types while I struggled to choose a paper. My struggle was no fault of hers since I’m just indecisive like that. I picked up the print today and, I had high expectations, but it looks even better than I expected. It’s beautiful. When I went to the frame store afterwards, even the frame guy commented on how nice the print is. I would highly recommend Print Space for any of your digital photo printing needs.

Professional, welcoming staff plus they treat each print with a lot of TLC. I love their selection of papers and the shockingly quick turn-​around time, even for large and multiple prints. There are a lot of labs for professional photographers to choose from (and I’ve tried quite a few), but am really thankful I found this great shop close to home.

Reasonably priced, polite staff. I had to make a small adjustment to my file and they didn’t charge me for computer time which was fair.

I went in to inquire about a print job and maybe I came at a time they were understaffed but it took awhile for someone to assist me. Also, to me the chemical smell was overwhelming.

My prints came out absolutely BEAUTIFUL with perfect color matching. These guys and gals are pros. The paper (Epson Premium Luster) is amazing quality, perfect for what I’m doing and better than I expected.
When I went to pick up the guy (I didn’t catch his name) was super nice and let me see my prints. He slipped on the cotton gloves and gingerly took them out of the box and lay them on the table. with the dimly lit atmosphere and smell of photographic chemicals in the air it was a very zen experience.
Price is also right, with three moderately sized prints for around $ 65.
This is my first time making prints and Print Space has achieved absolute perfection with them. I was expecting a lot of trials and errors, and they nailed it. I have a show coming up and I no longer have to worry about when where and how I’m getting my prints done. Five stars and hats off to you!

I can’t enough good things about this place. I had a digital photo I wanted a fairly large print of. They were incredibly helpful and didn’t make me feel like an idiot. Worked with me to pick the best size given the quality of the photo etc etc. Walked me though the paper options, very patient, great recommendations. I can’t wait to be able to give them more business !!! TIme to dig out some old photos I wanted to put on the walls !!!

If you know me, you know that I love taking pictures. Until last month, I was all about digital. I finally decided to pick up a film SLR (Nikon FE2) and run through a roll of film.
Dropping the film off here was a snap. The staff was friendly here and didn’t scoff at my dumb questions, like how many exposures they put per row when they cut the film. As I continued to visit, they’d remember me, which is a level of familiarity that is REALLY hard to come by in NYC.
Getting the sleeves is an extra dollar. Six bucks for a roll of color isn’t bad, to me. I’m thinking about using their scanner as well, because I just don’t have much confidence in mine, but I don’t think it’s a very cost effective option for me, since I don’t have a ton of things to scan. They also develop black and white for $ 11 (cut and sleeved).
This is definitely going to be my go-​to place for developing as I learn about the world of film.
I also think it’s worth noting that they have a pretty awesome bulletin board right by the front desk with flyers for equipment sales, workshops, exhibits, etc. It’s a really friendly environment and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Print Space Photo Lab makes me want to take up photography as a hobby!
I had to scan about 60 photos and some newspaper clippings for a family project today and then burn 2 CDs.
The staff (Paula, Hashem and Justine) were all so nice and helpful — I forgot I was still in NYC! :) As a side note, they were also playing great music when I was there! I thought their prices were very reasonable too.
I hope to use their services in the future.

I use Print Space to develop my 35 mm and 120 film, and then I scan in the negatives on my own at home. Film processing is affordable ($ 5 a roll, $ 6 if you want it cut and sleeved, no prints). I can trust that my film is in good hands; they’ve never messed up a roll, and it’s always developed beautifully. 24-​hour turnaround time.
Staff is nice and helpful – let me know once that it looked like my camera had a light leak. Glad to have found this place!
