Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel

Great hotel in the heart of time square. It is clean and quite with a friendly staff. Breakfast was good, you have to ask for cooked order eggs. The only bad thing was the gym, They literally took two bedrooms and put treadmills and an elliptical.

We reserved two room here at a reduced rate for advance pay. Unfortunately one of my sons got sick so two in our party had to stay home and as a result my oldest college aged son had a room to himself. For New York City the rooms were a very nice size and we had a pretty good view from the 21^st floor. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were good size, a lot of space for clothes storage. It has been a long time since I have stayed in NY, I am not sure I would pick a location in the center of Times Square during the holidays, you can get everywhere via subway but you have to make your way through the crowds. There were a few things with the service that were not ideal. We had breakfast included in our charge and my son went down to eat breakfast a bit after us, he gave his room number and 2 different people questioned him 3 times asking if it was really his room and if he was staying by himself. He did not say anything but was embarrassed. He was dressed casually, in CA where he grew up casual is pretty normal so you are never questioned but I assume NY is different, still the staff should not have assumed he was lying and should not have embarrassed him 3 times. The hotel gave us two complimentary offerings in their R&R lounge. We arrived around 6pm, the room has outstanding views and is a very nice spot to have a glass of wine or some snacks, albeit at very high prices. The host told us there would be a 30 minutes wait, I noticed the man ahead of me gave him a tip and was seated quickly, I almost felt like he was telling me there was a wait so I would tip him but I could see the empty tables. We said we would wait and were then seated in 2 minutes, it was very odd and did not seem right. If it were not for the service incidents I would have given the place a high 4 it is a very nice hotel.

This hotel has everything that most people traveling through New York would need — a cool ambiance, convenient location, and comfortable rooms.
The name of the hotel definitely reflects in its décor. The unique decoration of the hotel definitely has a renaissance feel to it. If you are a traveler who is sick and tired of boring hotel décor, look no further!
The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. My family stayed in a two bedroom room. Although the view from the bedroom was not the prettiest, it was still cool to be able to look down and see a bustling city from the comfort of our bedroom.
But the biggest perk about staying at this hotel is its location. The luxury of staying in Times Square is worth experiencing; it is so convenient to be able to hop home after a night of exploring, especially in the city that never sleeps. Metro stations were less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel, allowing you to go anywhere within Manhattan easily. Furthermore, Central Park was a 15 – 20 minute walk away (depending on how fast you walk). By staying in a hotel located at such an ideal location within the city, you are guaranteed never to be bored during your visit to New York City!
However, this hotel may not be the best choice for people who are impatient. Getting to your room requires taking a separate elevator from the lobby to the first floor, and then switching elevators to access the rest of the rooms.

Excellent hotel in a very convenient spot. The rooms are on the cozy side (okay for Manhattan) with about 10 guest rooms per floor. I love this hotel because it is convenient to the theaters, shopping, Central Park as well as being at the intersection of many subway lines.
The bed was comfy (all Marriott beds are) with ample pillows provided. The toiletries are from Aveda, another plus.
The renaissance had a bar that overlooks Times Square. Drinks here are worth the view and ambiance.

From the moment we checked in we were warmly greeted, and were taken care of without any hassle. We were able to get our luggage on the roller cart and have it waiting for us by the time we arrived in our room. First impression of the room was very clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable, and I was able to stretch out and still have enough room. Pillows are so soft, I laid my head down and fell asleep right away. The view is absolutely amazing. The room had a flat screen tv, and mini refrigerator and glasses. The bathroom had glass doors, followed by turquoise tiles which looked really unique, shampoo/​conditioner were provided. I believe there was a telephone in the restroom which made me laugh. The workers here are very professional, and hard working. Always had fresh towels and shampoo/​conditioner waiting for us the 3 days we stayed here. Our experience with this hotel has been outstanding, writing this review makes me want to go back and visit.

Best hotel if you want to be in the middle of everything. Omar at the concierge desk is awesome and gives great recommendations based on what you want to see and how much time you have!

Early check-​in is not allowed. They made us store our bags and go away. We were 2 hours early. Staff was nice. Very polite!

And made the beds and still no shampoo was stocked. Not something we should have to ask for. From one wall to the other
Our floor sloped about 1 to 1 ½ inches.
It felt like we were walking downhill. Spoke to someone about that and never heard anything about the subject the rest of our stay. Breakfast buffet is way overpriced.
Go out for breakfast.
Location location location!!! This place is in the heart of Times Square! You couldn’t ask for a better location. Walking distance to everything! Theater, Rockefeller Center,
Radio City Music Hall, etc…

Ok so why was the «Fire security» man the person «greeting» us at the door RUDELY when we stopped by for lunch. My client has some CDs in his hand because we just came from interviewing at SirusXM, and this belligerent man verbally accosts him before we can even say we want to eat at the restaurant upstairs. Then when I step up and ask him why he is talking so rudely, he says «what’s the problem??» And then informs us the restaurant has construction going on and we can’t eat there. Ok, great customer service Renaissance… Two thumbs down. You have lost our business.

I wasn’t too impressed. The Marriott app lead me to believe that the rooms were nicer. I was disappointed in the rooms. The décor almost seemed outdated. It was nice however being in the middle of time-​square. I live in Brooklyn but my friend was here from California. The door men were nice and pleasant. The breakfast for Elite members was ok, the staff was helpful there. I expected being Elite there would have been a business center free of charge but it had to pay. I also thought I would had received complimentary parking for Elite member but I didn’t. Beware they are doing construction at that hotel.

It is a really nice experience staying in this hotel. Nearby Time Square and subways. Nice restaurants around and close to shopping places. Room is nice as well.

This was my first time back in New York in over 40 years. I was a kid when I visited years ago, and I vowed not to go back. So on a trip to Jamaica we decided to layover In Times Square for a few days. We booked a three day stay at the Renaissance. The room was a bit small but nice after all this was New York. OK, foundation of my review is Mr. Omar Bennett at the Concierge desk. Omar was amazing he knew something about everything we talked about was able to recommend a few good places for dining, shows, sights and how to get there by train. I did not want to drive in that city traffic at all. I had a fear of the train and getting lost. Omar made it very easy for us to get around the city. Took in two great Broadway Shows and Ground Zero. Thanks to Omar we had a wonderful time and I can not wait to go back. Thank you Mr. Omar Bennett. Job well done.

The Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel is a great hotel with a friendly staff. The décor of the general hotel area is blob chic. By that I mean there are random blob like (don’t know what else to call it) artwork and sculptures in the main lobby and lobby bathrooms. The king size room is spacious with great views up and down Times Square (at least the room we were in did). The bed was ultra comfortable and the bathroom shower had bench seating which came in handy with the hangover I had. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NYC.
The only reason why I’m giving this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the lack of security. With the hotel being in Times Square, there are people walking around at any given time of the day and that means they can wander into the hotels. Each night of our stay we’d come back from enjoying the bars and each time we made it up to our room without any security person or system checking to confirm we were guests of the hotel. There was a guard on the street level entrance who just sat there as we stumbled into the hotel and didn’t ask to see our room key. Once we made it up to the main lobby level, where the guest room elevators are, we didn’t have to put our key card in to access our floor (even though there was a key card slot in the elevator that said insert key to access floors). Beef up the security Mr. Marriott if you want 5 stars.

The two elevator thing is weird (one up to the lobby from reception; one to your room) and the room service is overpriced, but that’s to be expected. The room was much larger than our room at the Ameritania last year (almost half again as large); the staff was super friendly; the lounge area is very nice. The location can’t be beat if you’re seeing Broadway shows, and there’s a Q train just steps from the front door. I would absolutely stay there again.
Bonus for the eight year old: free stuffed animal at check-​in.

I’ve stayed here many times on business, and it’s one of the better hotel options in the Midtown/​Times Square area, especially if you want to stay in the Marriott family. I love that this hotel is intimate by NYC standards and is very easy to navigate. Yes, the elevators can be a tad bit slow, but that’s a small price to pay to not deal with the complicated elevator system over at the Marriott Marquis. The location is stellar and the view of Times Square from the bar/​lounge is simply breathtaking. The public areas and rooms are all very nice and up-​to-​date (especially as compared to the aging Marquis). Service has always been very friendly and attentive.

This Marriott is clean and comfortable as expected at the Marriott brand. The room. Is very spacious for New York City. The bathroom is clean and contemporary and super clean. They offer the Aveda line which I appreciate. The club room served a beautiful array of fresh high quality options for breakfast. It’s we worth the upgrade price for this club room breakfast. They offered eggs, sausage, oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruit etc. the very best part is the view of Times Square. The floor to ceiling windows offer probably the best view anywhere of Times Square.

Very nice hotel. The rooms are spacious by NYC standards and nicely decorated. The lobby has a very cool feel without being overdone and the front desk/​concierge staff were wonderful. The bell hop staff, less so.
My two negative points are really minor. I’m not a fan of the split elevator setup where you have to take an elevator from street level to the lobby and then use another bank of elevators to get to your room. One of the elevators was broken while I was there which exacerbated this pet peeve for me.
Also, I’m not a fan of being this close in to Times Square and all of the noise and crush that goes with it, so I normally stay down by Bryant Park. That said, if you’re coming to NYC with the desire of staying in Times Square, then this hotel is perfect.

I stayed for Business this week I really liked the front desk staff the were very helpful and check-​in was quick. The room itself was a decent size and overlooked time square. There was a little bit of traffic noise, but nothing that I couldn’t sleep through. The bar area and the lounge area were really nice there was a good mix of people there and was quiet enough to actually do a little bit of work, but fun enough to actually be able to talk to some people and make some new networking connections. A+ for security. I forgot my iPad in the room and called right away. They were able to retrieve it and hold it for me until I could get back to the hotel to pick it up. A lot of integrity there and I really appreciate it.

We have stayed here on other occasions and been very pleased. This stay was not so great, and so will book a different hotel for our next NYC trip.

We stayed on points. The young lady at the check-​in desk indicated at 3pm that our room wouldn’t be ready till 4pm, but that it would be worth the wait since we were being upgraded to an executive suite. Score! Perhaps bc they were slow, or bc we were silver members or bc it was noted that we were celebrating my birthday.
Added bonus, complimentary presecco and strawberries! Room wasn’t ready till 4:00 on the dot. The lounge was fine to wait in and charge my phone and enjoy a well-​made vodka-​lemonade concoction. Homemade chips and dip only .99 cents??? But cocktails were $ 16 a pop so there ya go.
Doorman was very cool, too. He was good to us. Didn’t use the gym or dine in the restaurant.
Rooms and hallways were immaculate. Hotel is very small and very quiet compared to sister hotel (marriott marquis) next door. Privacy is good bc there’s no real true lobby. Tiny ground level check-​in area w elevator to lounge/​restaurant. Elevators at this level go to rooms where there are maybe only a dozen rooms per floor. Much more of a boutique hotel feel for Times Square. Ideal location for shows.
Décor for rooms/​lounge/​etc trying VERRRRY hard for a «W» vibe. Mellow clubby music and extremely avant guard art work down to the lighting and even drawer pulls on the furniture. Like modern melted looking body sculptures. Really strange and I am an artsy person/​interior designer! Just seems a bit contrived and honestly not attractive. Wasn’t ugly and everything is very clean and new so I’m not going to complain.
Room was great, tidy and clean. Our suite had no great view but two nice size full baths, living room, fairly comfy bed.
Very impressed and luxurious for Times Square. A solid choice for sure. No free wifi though has got to change. We shall be back! For more excitement visit Marriott Marquis next door and for more luxury visit the Chatwal down a couple of blocks. Otherwise this Renaissance is definitely in my top 5 Times Square hotels. Good job.

I love this location, though I will say that it’s an extremely congested area. You can expect traffic and sirens, but. Think the hotel does a good job of preparing you.
Coming in, you receive a warm welcome, and your bags are transported to your room. After check-​in, you take the elevator up to the lobby. You can access the restaurant, the lounge, and the elevators to the guest rooms from here.
Up in the rooms, you can hear some of the street noise, but the hotel provides you with ear plugs if you are sensitive to noise. It didn’t bother me, and I didn’t have trouble getting to sleep. Room service was quick and delicious, and the lounge had a nice list of cocktails.
Times Square is literally right outside. The shops, the street vendors, hot dog stands, and lights make from great photo opportunities and the concierge gives some good restaurant recommendations. If the traffic is busy, walk down a side street to get toward Lexington — you’ll have an easier time hailing a cab.
