I’ve always been around Chinatown but never visited this rooftop bar. Finally got a chance to check it out for a friend’s birthday. Note — I came on a late Friday night(past 12). Pros– Like what many reviews will tell you — the view is pretty good. Wall-to-ceiling windows facing the Empire State Building, lounge seating, and one bar. Fairly cozy in terms of space. Meh — It’s not a huge place, and their music is your typical top 50s(+ some awkward songs that don’t exactly belong in a lounge setting) but it could’ve just been the Friday night music. Cons — Other than the people in our group celebrating the birthday, the place was near empty so if you’re looking for a popping place on a Friday night — don’t bother. — A HUGE con is how EXPENSIVE they are. I don’t like to rant about prices, but I feel better paying these prices at Gansevoort than paying them there. $ 14 shots, $ 9 beer. Not only that, they charged tip on my card already. It was a hefty tip for 5 shots, so they left me feeling like they stole from me. Small shots, weak drinks(that came in red cups???). And if you’re downtown, there are definitely cheaper spots elsewhere Overall, come here if you really want a great view, lounge-type space and you’re nearby with a friend. Maybe you want to bring your friends somewhere nice after dinner in Chinatown. Just get beer because everything else is just not worth it.

The rooftop bar at the Wyndham in Chinatown has one of the most interesting city views. You’re looking NORTH to the ESB instead of south from an uptown location. The drink menu is interesting and the mood is laid back. We were there on MLK Monday night and the place was not crowded(freezing cold out there!) and plenty of classic Bowie songs filled the room. It was really relaxing and romantic.

It is closed. Temporarily from what we were told but no one seems to know when it will reopen.

This is the same location as «City View» with poorer reviews on Unilocal(double entry?). This is a hidden gem in the area — rooftop happy hour with $ 6 well drinks until 8?! Yes. I’ve been twice, both times we were the only people there. It’s nice for a catch-up with friends in a quiet non-pretentious intimate setting. If you’re looking for a party, I cannot imagine this being the place. The first time I came the bartender downstairs was weird. She told us the bar upstairs(the outdoor roof) was closed and she couldn’t tell us how to get there until we bought drinks from her. When we got upstairs, the bar was open with a bartender present(who charged my phone YAY). The downside of hotel bars is that they charge tax on alcohol. Also, the second time we went we split the bill three ways via credit/debit cards. They charged one of the cards $ 96 dollars(instead of $ 38) — noone answered the phone. I also left a cardigan on a chair and apparently it was nowhere to be found. Aside from those mishaps — Nice place! Just don’t forget anything and definitely use cash.

No need to explain more. Best view around this area with great music. Especially Kenny is the best bartender ever.

If you’re in the area and want an amazing view of the city. You should check it out. As for the drinks… they are weak. Opt for the beer.

The view is amazing, but the bar and patio are both really sad hotel bar areas that are trying to be nicer than they are. The happy hour special was $ 6 for well drinks but I was charged $ 6.75. And there’s a cover for the upstairs outdoor area! $ 10 during happy hour and $ 15 otherwise with a one drink minimum. That is just insane! I went there at a time when there were no other people in the indoors and only one other couple outdoors and they’re seriously still charging a cover. The staff was nice and so that’s a plus, but seriously. I’ve been to several rooftop bars this summer and no one charges a cover! Also it seems like they’ve redecorated the outdoors since a lot of the photos were taken; it was mostly sad patio furniture when I went.

just got back from an outing at rooftop 93. its not something you might be used to seeing in chinatown, but i guarantee its worth a trip. The views are absolutely stunning. whether you are on the 18th flr bar, or roof top bar. Staff is beyond great. definatley come in and check it out if you are in the neighborhood.

Visited NYC and got a chance to experience the rooftop with my friends. I was a little skeptical about the bar since it is in Chinatown. We like to eat in Chinatown and used to commute for the drinks. This place deserves 5 stars, this is how I break it down. One star: Cleanness of the place and bathroom One star: friendliness of the staff and the bartender make the whole experience better One star: good drinks and they don’t skimp on alcohol One star: The VIEW One Star: The price, considering the fact that it is in Manhattan.

Review of the lounge on the 18th floor only: The lounge provides a fantastic gotham-esque view up bowery leading directly to mid-town Manhattan with the Empire State building as its centerpiece. Our server was extremely welcoming, attentive and energetic, but the lounge itself was not busy — just one other party which was on their way out, when our group visited. Sizing wise, it can fit about 30 – 40 comfortably. Drink prices seem a bit lower than average– beer for 7, cocktails for 11 – 13, for what seems like a business trying to become a new high end nightlife location. There were rumors of a generous happy hour but I can’t confirm the prices. The ugly. By either a miscalculation of the P.O.S. system or dishonest business tactic, my receipt’s suggested tip of 20% was slightly higher than the actual amount. No big deal for a quick $ 30 tab, but if this is common practice here, this could be an issue for a larger party spending a full evening at this bar. Just a heads up for those tipsy check handlers at the end of the night. Will return and possibly update the review when I experience the rooftop and a larger crowd.
