Tried this place out for a first date spot, and it was absolutely perfect. It had a varied wine list, and had the added bonus of finding out that bottles were half-off on Sundays and Mondays. The décor is hip, and the layout of the tables would accommodate both an intimate, two-person conversation as well as a group of friends. The service was attentive, but not overdone, and provided just the right amount of passion toward the menu items while knowing when to bow out of an obvious date night. Loved everything about it, and certainly hope to be back! FYI — there is no liquor here(yet), it’s just wine and beer for now.

Came with mum for a light dinner. Wine was good and cheese was a decent selection as well. The place is v. tiny and staff could have been more attentive, but liked the décor and vibe, so would deffo come back again.

Came here for brunch on Sunday at noon with an accepted reservation. Their doors were open, there was a sign out front advertising brunch, but the place was completely empty. The one woman there said they were only serving drinks because of employee issues. Not sure what that means but please get it together.

Great place! Stopped in for dinner last night. Terrific wait staff and great food. Kind of like a French tapas place. We will definitely go back!

I just do not understand this place. Wine selection on point. Menu looks great. Everyone seems nice. However, where is the«bar» in this wine bar. Those high tables with a bunch of chairs are great if I happen to want a glass of wine with my 5 best friends. And the low tables for 2 would make for a great date spot. But where do I just walk in, sit down, order some small tapas and have some wine. I am sure for the right people(date night, large group) this place is dynamite and I would encourage dates or groups of 4 or more to go and try it out. But Room 1705, where is the love for the lone diner or the two buddies who want to go out and have a drink? EDIT: I went back to Room 1705 and decided to change its rating. The people there are really great and the wine selection is terrific. Like with any restaurant, the code needs to be cracked. This is an intimate setting and would work great for dates. I still think that it isn’t an ideal place to go alone but that is ok. it doesn’t have to be… it is good at what it is intended to do and that is pretty great too.

I must say… I have been to this new neighborhood«Gem» three times now… and the experience is 100% Top Notch! The wine offered is great and the food is by far some of the best that I have ever had! As for the location and ambience… it’s absolutely perfect! There is nice music, not too loud and not too soft! There are some classics and current, hip sounds also! The décor is very classy chic… updated. It’s a great place to gather with friends or a nice spot for a first date. In summation, I would highly recommend you check out this location!

Cozy wine bar with a bright vibrant yet comfortable atmosphere, brick walls covered with interesting artwork and photos of celebs including lady Gaga, Madonna and Kate Moss to name a few. Named Room 1705 for its address, 17051st avenue on the upper east side. I had this wine bar bookmarked on Unilocal and was meeting a friend so recommended we try. The attentive server allowed us to try several wines before we decided on a red we liked. I would prefer a couple more reds I liked, blends, Bordeaux, Shiraz… But settled on a good Malbec. I like the layout with low top tables, a longer wooden hightop table where we sat, and a big velvet-y chair in the back — tables with small candles. I did not see it but according to other photos and reviews I saw after our visit, they also have a cozy room which can accommodate private parties. Recommend as a cozy wine bar to meet with a friend or date.

Had a great experience here recently. The wine list was terrific– had a great Barolo and Tempranillo. The charcuterie was fantastic. Our server appeared to also be the owner, and even though it was getting late on a Tuesday night and we were the only customers left, he did not rush us and made us feel extremely welcome. Would highly recommend this establishment.

I absolutely loved the intimate atmosphere and food at this new little wine and cheese bar that is right up the street from my apartment. I went for a Valentine’s Day brunch, and I could not have been more pleased with the quality of the food or the service. For food, we ordered the French onion soup panini and the ham and swiss panini. Both were superb– you could really tell that you were eating high-quality cheese and that’s what made all of the difference. My only gripe is that I wish the paninis came with a small side of greens, or that there was an option to add that for a few dollars more. I was still slightly hungry after finishing my panini, but my bf let me finish his so I was OK. We also did the bottomless mimosas, and it was nice that they had some different choices for flavors. The cranberry and the pomegranate were particularly good. I also really liked the music, which was kind of eclectic and added to the overall atmosphere and vibe. I saw a sign that they have a happy hour deal Monday through Wednesdaythat was something like $ 9 for a glass of wine and bruschetta. I’d like to check that out as well as the cheese plates and dinner.

This place is a real sleeper. Excellent wine choices and food of outstanding quality carefully prepared and presented. This is the kind of place that one would travel downtown for. Thankfully, no need for that. Highly recommended.

If I could I would give this place a 4.5 rating. This new addition to the Yorkville neighborhood is great, and offers a little bit of everything. Recently had brunch here and the food was surprisingly SOGOOD. I pegged this place as a good wine night kind of place, but totally worth checking out for brunch(and I would assume dinner). The server was really nice. I had the brunch casserole(eggs, sausage, cheddar, croutons), which came with a side salad and the nutella french toast. The brunch casserole and side salad were good(4⁄5), but the portion of the casserole was on the smaller side. The nutella french toast was FANTASTIC. They serve the french toast with a side of mascarpone cheese mixed with cream, powered sugar, cinnamon, and nutella. Ask for extra of the mascarpone creation– it is amazing! I love nutella and I love french toast, and I have tried a lot of nutella french toast entrees in NYC, but this has by far been my favorite. Warning: this nutella french toast isnt dripping in nutella, rather the nutella is incorporated in more subtle ways, which I was originally so skeptical of, but ended up being so amazing(and I didnt leave feeling like I had just eaten 100 candy bars). Cons: The music selection was a little too house-music-y for a Sunday brunch. I think this place has potential to be more cozy, they should play around with the setup/décor. The kitchen is also right in the middle of the«room», which is cool, but there is only one chef so when there are multiple food orders going in at once, I would assume the wait for food would be pretty long. Overall, this is a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. Don’t let Room 1705’s lack of a web presence deter you. They still have a few kinks to work out, but I cannot wait to come back for brunch and to check out their dinner/wine options(so excited to try their cheese fondue/chocolate fondue!!). I hope they start to offer wine flights soon!

I went there on Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend. I really was impressed by the décor. Loved all paintings and beautiful chandeliers. So, we ordered a bottle of champagne to start with 3 course Valentine’s Day menu. I must compliment to our waitress because she did an amazing job. She didn’t rush us to turn the table like some other restaurants. After the bottle of champagne, we ordered a nice bottle of Pinot Noir with our cheese & charcuterie platter. It truly was a great pairing. I definitely will return for more after having a great time there. Good for couples and even large groups. Nice music selection.

Great new place in the neighborhood! It’s super cozy and romantic– the other reviews are spot-on with this. Fantastic wine list with a generous pour! We really enjoyed the pick & choose meats & cheeses. I’d never even heard of podda cheese before, but the lovey waitress recommended it and now it’s by far my new favorite. The Nutella strawberry panini was also to die for! Love the artwork as well– not sure if it’s for sale, but would be curious to find out. Overall a fantastic new options for a low-key date night. So happy to have a place like this in Yorkville.

Such a great addition to the area. Warm, casual, cozy without being claustrophobic, sophisticated yet unpretentious, with a quality selection of wine(not overwhelming but hits all the notes), yummy small dishes, great music, knowledgeable servers, and highly personable owner who is committed to the neighborhood. Great for a first or thousandth date. Saw a small group there and they were having a blast. I’m finding that there are more and more offshoots of Village and Bkln establishments opening in the area. There’s nothing wrong with that, but this one’s a true original.

I am very excited to welcome Room 1705 into the neighborhood. We need a place like this and I hope it succeeds as there is a definite lack of true wine bars along 1st Avenue in the 86th Street block. Room 1705 is small and intimate. Everything they offer is right before your eyes — including the kitchen area which takes up the center of the space. The staff greets you at the door and is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The décor very lower east side hip. The wine selection has been perfectly crafted so that there is something for everyone to enjoy. Accompaniments range from meat and cheese platters to small bites. These are all perfect to partake of while enjoying your wine over good conversation with that special someone. What I perhaps love most about Room 1705 is the fact that it’s a small place. That ensures that the room will not get too crowded, meaning you can enjoy yourself in a nice quiet post dinner atmosphere. I will definitely be back! Welcome to the upper east side!

I’m so glad that I stumbled upon this new neighborhood gem. It’s a perfect addition, and may be a new go to spot this winter. The ambiance is warm, colorful and cozy. The restaurant also has a lower level with couches if you’re looking for a quiet place for a date or private conversation. They offer a good selection of wine, prosecco, meats, cheeses and bruschetta. I definitely recommend the sundried tomato bruschetta. The owners and staff were also very knowledgeable and helpful. Welcome to the neighborhood!
