The «stylist» RIPPED THE HAIR OUT OF MY HEAD!!!
I made an appointment for hairstyling for my friend’s wedding. I had just gotten fusion hair extensions from my regular salon, but wanted the styling done here, because they seemed like extensions EXPERTS, right?
Wrong.
The girl who showed up in a hoodie to «style» my hair was HORRIFIC. She physically pulled on my hair and extensions SO HARD that I would prefer to be tortured. If these extensions were not brand spanking new, she would have RIPPED THEM OUT OF MY HEAD!!! This was literally the most PAINFUL thing ever.
She was the WORST, physically aggressive, unfriendly, cold, obnoxious, and beyond unprofessional.
Now for the styling part: At the beginning, I showed her a photograph on my phone of EXACTLY what I wanted. She said okay! no problem. Did she do this style? NOPE! When I said that this literally looks nothing like the picture, her reply was «Well, your hair can’t really do that, you don’t have thick enough hair for that.» Well, if she was so sure of that, why did she not tell me this BEFORE starting!!! The answer is that this girl has no clue what she is doing. It has nothing to do with my hair.
She basically gave up, and was like, «your hair won’t do that.»
Then, I left SO ANGRY and IN PHYSICAL PAIN. My head was throbbing and I literally put ice on it!!!
I am normally a very rational person, but I was LIVID. I decided to sleep on it and see if I was still angry the next day or so.
Considering that my head still hurt me… I was still mad.
I called and asked to speak with an owner or manager. I believe it was an owner who answered. I told her the entire story, and how much pain I was in… and this woman offered me a free hair service. Are you kidding me!!! It was absurd. She defended her stylist and said «sometimes it can hurt when they brush through extensions.» For real? I have been getting extensions for 7 years, and NOBODY ELSE hurt me when they brushed them. She refused to tell me the stylist’s name when I asked. She said «yeah, I see who did your hair here… I don’t need to give you the name» I asked again, and she refused.
Last time I checked, the CUSTOMER is right. Not your stylist at an extension specialty salon who DOES NOT know how to handle extensions!!!
This disgusting place should be ashamed of themselves, their skills, and how they treat their clients.
I would not go back there for a life time of free services. Don’t be fooled by their stupid pictures of smiling girls — they hire freelance stylists and you MUST know who you are going to. Otherwise, they will rip the extensions out of your head and make your head throb for days.
This place is trash. Complete trash wrapped in a fancy bow. I am the rational and calm person ever, but the level of PAIN this stupid girl put me through was so horrendous that I literally have so much anger! I made this Unilocal account specifically for this terrible place! I never review or criticize places, but this place is the WORST!!! And I want to cry!

I’ve been here twice and could see myself getting addicted! Very relaxing experience — RPZL offers an iPad to clients with subscriptions to tons of magazines and the massage during the shampooing is great.
Space is large so you don’t feel very cramped, but the friendliness of stylists varies a bit. Either way, I’ve gotten tons of compliments on my blowout both times I’ve been.

I’ve come to RPZL a few times at the recommendation of a friend. The service is unmatched.
I am a brown girl wth natural hair, who has no business getting my hair blown out but the level of care I receive from Sammy, Sandy and Jannea is why I keep coming back. They are friendly, delicate and are always willing to: detangle my hair even when at the Bob Marley default setting, explain the products they select and their own personal method and most importantly… give me champagne!
My dear friend swears by Sammy. She is the truth. Sandy has sent me to Paris, France looking like a new woman. Jannea helped me ring in the new year, looking fabulous.
Reasons for 4 stars:
— sometimes you do not end up with the stylist you chose. Whenever your reservation changes, you get a new email. If you’re natural, paranoid, and nosey like me, and find this happening to you, call the salon and ask who your stylist is. Ensure they assign you to a person who can manage the Bob Marley in your life.
— the products are ehhhhh and inconsistent. Largely depends on what the stylist likes. However, I do think my hair could be shinier for longer. Maybe my hair is weird or the products are meh. up to you to decide, but I’ve definitely had more shine than the sun after styling at other places.
— the cashier TRIED IT last time I was there, almost charging me an extra $ 30 for a «treatment» I didn’t even have. Not cool. Talk to me first before trying to pull a fast one.
I probably shouldn’t tell you all of this because now there won’t be any appointments left when I need it. However, I HATE looking at Unilocal and not being able to tell who can do my hair for a decent price without damaging it. Am I the only naturalista Sherlock Holmes that looks at the RPZL booking site for names to cross reference possible natural stylists on Unilocal?Then google the names to see their work? Guess what I don’t have time for… THAT! haha

Editor’s note: I am a DreamDry defect; a lot of the stylists at RPZL are also DreamDry refugees. Cost and process are the same but when you meet a stylist you like, you stick with’em!

RPZL is by far my favorite blow-​dry salon in NYC. All of the stylists are great and everyone is super friendly. I got tape-​in extensions done with Azzy as well and they are great. She takes the time to color match each section of your head to make sure the extensions seamlessly blend. If you are thinking of getting extensions go to Azzy you won’t be disappointed !

As a person who has very long hair, this place (and its name!) just naturally spoke to me. From beginning to end, the whole process from booking the appointment to getting the blowout, was seamless, easy, and frankly, enjoyable! Meha was absolutely excellent with my hair. I showed her a picture of what I was thinking as far as style, and she gave me honest recommendations and executed it perfectly. She also gave me great recommendations on general hair care which I couldn’t have gotten anywhere else. I left with soft and silky hair, probably the softest and silkiest its ever been, and heavily caffeinated! Did I mention they have a menu of coffee/​drinks that they offer too?!
The décor of the place is great too. Minimalistic and chic. My kind of place! Hard to imagine myself going anywhere else. Thanks RPZL!

I formerly wrote a negative review of a poor experience here, BUT I am updating for several reasons.
I was very unhappy when I left on my first trip here– my extensions’ color was completely wrong, there were a few other issues, etc: but I now attribute that solely to the one stylist and not representative of RPZL whatsoever.
After writing my review, one of the owners, Monica, reached out to me and asked me to come back in to make me happier and they partnered me with Stephanie. I must say: not only am I happier, I left today’s visit beaming! I feel extremely beautiful, pampered, and glamorous.
I feel completely spoiled after my trip today, I was properly matched with extensions and got a beautiful hair style. I also did get a conditioning treatment which made my hair shine and feel much healthier.
I felt so good that I immediately messaged my boyfriend and met up for lunch so he could see me right away, and he also was saying just how amazing and happy I look and we definitely are going out tonight!
Despite my first visit, I will definitely be back– and will book with Stephanie again. This overall experience has shown me just how much the RPZL owners care about their customers and the passion for their salon. Superb customer service, great quality hair extensions, and a true understanding on how to make a woman feel luxurious.

Azzy Parsiani is just the best. Her knowledge about extensions and the care she gives your hair is phenomenal. She is honest and truly cares about your hairs health. I walk out and people can’t believe that first I have extensions and second how they look so amazing and natural. If you want the best Azzy is your girl!!!

Meha did an awesome job on my hair which NEVER holds a curl, but it did last night thanks to her. And the style was exactly the way I had envisioned.
She even took the time to explain to me how I could style it like that myself after she was done.
Price was more than reasonable too!
Will definitely be back before a night on the town.

I came in for the gorgeous girl blowout and the hello repair treatment. Stephanie, my stylist, was friendly and talented! I have very fragile platinum blonde hair from a recent color correction that damaged my ends and caused some breakage around my crown (hello alfalfa stragglers). I came in with a tangled frizzy mess and left feeling like a gorgeous girl. The treatment made a huge difference in my length and ends, and she recommended a great take home product.
It was a very relaxing experience, and the scalp massage was wonderful, though I wish it lasted longer! Stephanie did a beautiful job on my blow dry and styling, and created lovely loose beachy waves that complemented my face perfectly, and it looks as good tonight as it did when she styled me at noon today — not a hair out of place and my hair feels 10x better.
The atmosphere is eye-​gasmic and all the other clients looked phenomenal as well.
I’d highly recommend paying a visit to this spot, treat yo self!

I swung by for a quick blowout after work for an event later in the evening and found the space to be clean and beautifully laid out. the front desk receptionist was warm and welcoming, and everyone was professional and friendly!
so why only 3 stars? While I thought my blowout was lovely, it sadly didn’t survive very long. within 2 hours my curls were falling flat and my hair lost most of it’s volume and oomph. this could also be because of the weight of my hair (it’s coarse and heavy, to be fair) but I was hoping for something that’d withstand at least 3 – 4 hours at an indoor event.
nevertheless, my stylist was great and efficient and the experience was overall a positive one, i just can’t say I was 100% satisfied with my results. maybe i should have asked for flatiron curls or curling iron heat work vs. just roller brushes, but i’d also hope the pros would know what works best!

Love, love, LOVE the hair goddesses at RPZL! I have had the pleasure of experiencing this gem twice for extensions (once for keratin and again for tape ins) and believe me, you won’t be disappointed! (Special shout out to Stephanie for her perfect placement and trim of my tape ins this morning!) The staff is wonderful, always welcoming and you’ll always get the royal treatment whenever you walk through the door. You’ll leave feeling like a bombshell! Seriously, don’t even think about going anywhere else for extensions or blowouts: they’re the absolute BEST in NYC.

Azzy Parsiani is the best hairstylist ever. She looks fabulous and has the style of hair I want: long lustrous and wavy. She put in really long extensions to make up for all the hair another stylist unfortunately chopped off. I have definitely have gotten more looks from guys on the street. My friend said it looks totally like my hair but longer. In fact, I have never grown my hair this long, so it is like fantasy hair. Go to Azzy, you will be so happy you did.
If you are the kind of girl who believes that you should have a tiara on your head all day, RPZL is for you. The salon is gorgeous, clean, and a dream come true for a New York princess. They will serve you champagne and chocolate while you get long locks to attract your prince… or whatever you’re into. So happy I got a bad haircut and found this place.
I also had the blow dry service (includes the clipping in of the extensions) the day after the extensions were clipped in, as I removed them because I’m really into working out and it is not good to get your extensions all sweaty. This time, I got waves like Theresa Guidice. Not sure if that is a good look for me but my hair certainly is beautiful.

If I could give this place NO stars I would. Never have I been treated with such disrespect as a customer. I never write reviews, let alone bad ones, but I really feel this salon is horrible.
Not only did the stylist run 1 hour late, but when I spoke to the manager (after 30 mins of her already being behind) about her tardiness she became HOSTILE! She had been chit chatting and showing her prior client instagrams! I patiently waited for her to finish, then when I sat down with her she snapped at me, and couldn’t have been ruder. «So are we going to have a problem or not?!» she asked. I was taken aback. She then continued to essentially mock me and make me feel horrible. Considering how calm I was, I decided this wasn’t going to work politely let her know and excused myself. The manager — who actually was pretty nice — followed me out and offered me 20% off if I came back. I made an appointment, but then decided that I should cancel, this place doesn’t deserve $ 400+ of my hard earned paycheck.
I’ve gotten extensions many many times over — guys, this place isn’t great and it’s way overpriced. I suggest going elsewhere!

Came here to get hair extensions for my wedding. I met with Sandy for my consultation and she recommended tape in extensions for me. I ended up getting them since they stay for 4 – 6 weeks and supposedly didn’t harm your hair she said. Fast forward a little bit, i get out of the shower one day on my honeymoon and find one of the tape in extensions ON THE FLOOR! to top it off the extension stayed for 6 days total. Yes not 6 weeks but 6 short days. A chunk of my hair came out with it too.
I called RPZL to tell them and not only were they unapologetic they just kept saying how this has never happened before. Like that was going to make me feel better. There was no sympathy and they did not feel any remorse what so ever. The only positive was getting a full refund for the cheap extension that ruined my hair.
I went back to get them all out and now my hair is brittle, thin after I was told from the beginning it wouldn’t be harmed at all.
In conclusion do not get extensions here, just stick with a blow out.

OK. The space is really nice and the people are really friendly and it’s cool to be able to get hair extensions the same day you ask for them. Plus the prices are not insane. However there are a lot of problems that need ironing out.
1. You’ll look really good walking out but just give it a few weeks – the quality of the hair is terrible, and you will learn to hate it. It tangles like CRAZY and turns into dreadlocks which cannot be detangled, only removed by pulling out the extension. This would happen to me at the rate of about 1 – 2 extensions losses per shampoo. Plus, as you lose the extensions you start to find out that there are a lot of individual white hairs in there, hairs that didn’t catch color or lost it completely or don’t have a cuticle. I’m not sure, but it’s not lovely.
After the first few days, my hair NEVER looked good. I was constantly putting it up in buns and ponytails (which also didn’t look very good) because the extensions were so gnarly and gross. And yes, I did take good care of them, and even used a pricey shampoo that I bought at RPZL.
2. They list a haircut as included in the price, but it isn’t really a haircut as in giving your hair a style that will make it look actually good. They follow the «long hair is the style» mentality: they don’t really cut layers or anything, just attempt to «blend» the extensions (which they don’t even do completely.) Obviously for the price it’s fine, but just be aware that in many cases you will need to get another haircut after.
If RPZL would offer better hair, I would go there again, but their hair is truly terrible. If you’ve ever had extensions before, you might think «I don’t care if the hair is bad,» but it actually matters in a big way. This hair will get tangles that won’t ever come out, and they will happen ALL the time. Be warned.
RPZL, if you do start offering better quality hair, please respond to this review and I will update my rating.

Phenomenal. Beautiful salon in a terrific central location, all sleek and white and sparkling! They have iPads to browse, champagne or wine or coffee to drink, very good customer service and gorgeous blowouts. I hope it lasts!
I came here for 2 consultations on extensions before I did them. Sandie is AMAZING. She is so patient, funny, and explained everything to an extension newbie. I always had hair down to my back and had to cut it super short after years of dying it blonde. I hate it and wanted to see what I could do for special events and such.
Sandie gave me recommendations on the types of extensions (I went with clip in’s), then suggestions where to get them from (I did Bellami), then color consulted my purchase and finally did my whole blowout and taught me how to place the extensions, and even angle trimmed the front ones for me so they blended in well. They looked amazing and unfortunately I haven’t been able to get them to look as great myself but oh well.
I will definitely be back, for blowouts and extensions. Thanks RPZL!

When I first read about RPZL I knew I would have to find a way to go and get their customized clip in extensions! I went for my birthday about 2 weeks ago and it was the BEST present to myself, ever!
When I walked in I was greeted warmly and offered a drink. Right after that I was introduced to my stylist, Dori, who was just the sweetest. She made me feel so comfortable right away. I should mention that I am a stay at home mom to 2 young girls and don’t get to treat myself like this often, so sometimes I can feel a little out of my element, depending on the place.
She washed my hair and then blew it out — I’ve actually never had a professional blowout before and it was nice to see how good my hair can look just from that. Dori matched the extensions to my hair, we selected the look I was going for, and then she got to putting them in for me. When she was finished I almost didn’t recognize myself (in a good way)! The extensions looked amazing. She trimmed them so that they blend seamlessly with my real hair. Right after I was done, the staff sang happy birthday and presented me with a treat, complete with a candle to blow out. What! It was so cute and totally made my day.
The vibe of the salon is very relaxed. It’s bright and mostly white so it feels very airy and clean. The staff was really friendly and warm and everyone seemed happy to be there, which makes such a difference. You see the word «gorgeous» all over their website and salon, and that’s definitely how you feel walking out. I would definitely find an excuse to come back here in the future!
Here’s the best part: I went to a bachelorette brunch on the UWS the other day, and as soon as I walked in my girlfriends gushed about how amazing my hair looked. They couldn’t tell I had extensions in! Thank you DORI and everyone at RPZL for such a fun experience. I will be recommending you to all my friends!

I had hair extensions removed here. The stylist was very welcoming and nice. So was the receptionist. They initially didn’t have an appointment available but they moved things around to accommodate my busy schedule which was very much appreciated. As soon as I walked in, they offered me a glass of wine, champagne, tea, etc. they saw me right away. I had my hair washed (soo relaxing!) extension removal (no pain at all,) and I had clip ins put in. I was originally going to get tape ins (which by the way are more pricey,) but after I asked for advice from the stylist, she told me the clip ins would be a better option for what i was looking for (body AND length,) I really appreciated the honesty. They could have easily told me tape ins were best, just to rack in some extra money from a new client who is not so familiar with these things, but she told me how versatile the clip ins were.
While I’m happy with the service, I just ordered 240 grams of 22 inch bellisimi clip ins ($ 209.99) because I really just wanted to go a little longer. But that’s just my preference. The stylist explained I could alternate inch-​size wedges to give the appearance of layers.
When comparing the prices, you can get over double the amount of hair for the bellisimi clip ins in comparison to salon-​bought clip ins, but that’s expected. It’s a business. It’s always cheaper to buy online.
Overall, I am happy with the service. I would go back for a blowout, but after learning how to use the clip ins correctly for my desired look, and learning how much quality hair I can order online and clip in myself, I wouldn’t go back for their clip in services. The hair is good quality so far, no complaints.
I will update how they are month from now.

This place is the bee’s knees! From the moment I walked in, I felt taken care of. The receptionist took my jacket and offered me a drink, and then I was taken to my wonderful and amazing stylist Jose. He seriously deserves a special shoutout because he was hilarious (we talked about Zumba), and my hair looks SO GOOD. I’m very picky with my hair and feel that a lot of stylists don’t necessarily style my hair in a very flattering way. But Jose gave me a look that really flatters my texture and face shape. Also their products are really high-​quality. My hair has never been shinier.
The space is very modern and luxurious, and the whole experience is very pampered. RUN here for your next special occasion or just because! You will leave feeling and looking more gorgeous than you walked in.

Sandy gave me the best bridal shower hair ever and I am hooked!
I wasn’t sure what to expect from another blow out bar, but this is definitely not the typical dry bar or blow bar. The service here is outstanding and the products they use are top of the line products. Even after all the styling and hair washing, my hair still feels softer than ever.
Sandy asked what I wanted and after telling her the occasion she went all out and put so much time and detail into making my hair perfect. I had an old school glamour waves look and she pinned curled my hair. My hair looked better than ever and I was so impressed by what she was able to do. She sealed it in with hair spray and I was not a crunchy mess, they use only the best products and aren’t in a super tight time line like other blowout bars. They have no problem taking their time to get it right.
On top of that, the receptionists go above and beyond as well. Carlos was not only helping me find my über but also stood outside with an umbrella to make sure my hair didn’t get messed up. Outstanding! Highly recommend! Big plus, they also do extensions and from what they were telling me, it’s a much easier process than going to an actual salon. All in all, give them a shot, you’ll forget about the other blow out bars quick!
