Getting a Brooklynite into the city for a haircut is no easy feat. But to have John cut your hair, it’s a no brainer.
John manages to make my crazy thick hair feel light thanks to the layers he puts in. His cuts are always versatile so no matter how wear it (wavy or straight), it’ll always look good. The added bonus is he always shows me different ways I can style my hair so I don’t get bored.
I always get stopped by people asking me who does my hair. John is the man to see, and Sacha & Olivier is the place to go! The salon has a great ambience without feeling over the top pretentious, and the staff is friendly. It’s always a pleasure coming into the city to get my hair done.

John Gerard is the best! I have been going to him for over ten years and have never been disappointed. I trust his judgement and his hands 100%. He can just look at me and say «Let’s do this!» He is always right.

I always have such a wonderful experience here. The place is comfortable, professional, friendly and I always leave feeling pampered. John gives fantastic haircuts. I’ve been coming to see him for years and tried many different styles. Right now I’m wearing my hair short, and I love it. I don’t have easy hair, but once John is done with it, it always looks sassy and sexy. I can even wash and go and still look put together. And his cuts last a while, too, because he makes sure they’ll grow out beautifully.

John is the best! I have been coming here for years for cuts and more recently color and keratin treatments for my hair. John is extremely talented patient and really listens to what his clients want. He is super accommodating when I need a quick trim or touch up. Everyone at the salon is friendly and there is no «attitude» I wouldn’t trust my hair to anyone else!

John has been cutting my hair for the past 15 years and I have followed him where ever he goes. Sacha and Olivier is very pleasant salon to get my hair cut. It is not pretentious and very laid back.

I love this salon. Have had John doing my hair and keratin for many, many years. My haircuts always look good, he has an amazing eye for what looks good but he also always takes into consideration what you want! The keratin treatments last for 5 months. That’s a lot longer than most salons. Everyone in this salon are just really nice…

I will start off by saying I come from a family of hairdressers. I am extremely picky with who does my hair! John is one of the only hairstyles in this city who cuts my hair correctly. His technique is fabulous, and his customer approach is warm and inviting from the minute you sit in the chair till you walk out the door it wonderful. You will love what he can do with your hair.
I highly recommend him. Obviously!

I stumbled upon this salon years ago because it was close to work (and everywhere else) and seemed sophisticated without all the frills. John has been cutting my hair ever since and has even grown to be a dear friend. It is always a wonderful experience with John at Sacha & Olivier. I trust him wholeheartedly!

John Gerard, is the only haircutter that gets my hair. I am a man with thinning hair and John has been able to make my hair look and feel thicker and fuller. I’ve been going to John for years and I highly recommend him.

John has been cutting my hair for a while and I couldn’t be happier. He’s got it down, makes me look my best consistently. And he’s always upbeat. Not a bad bonus.

I spent $ 150 for a trim at Sacha & Olivier, and I have reason to believe the stylist who cut my hair doesn’t actually work there.
Let me explain: I called as a potential first-​time client for a same-​day trim. I was in need of an expert shaping (I’ve been growing it out), and I was prepared to pay well to make it a pampering experience. The Sacha & Olivier website states that a cut with one of their stylists is $ 125, which is exactly what I asked for when I called. At first, the person on the line (likely either Sacha or Olivier) said that only the owners were in for the day, and at $ 195-​$ 210 per cut, I deemed their rates too high for a trim. Then, they asked me to hold while they made a call. After a few minutes they told me they found someone who would come in.
My stylist was truly a dear, but I grew suspicious over the course of my appointment for a few reasons:
1. I asked my stylist what kind of products they use and love at the salon, and he didn’t know the answer. «Sacha and Olivier love all kinds of products,» he said, before changing the subject.
2. My stylist started to set me up at a washing sink, at which time one of the owners came by and informed him that the station I was at was broken.
3. My stylist didn’t know what shampoo and conditioner to use to wash my hair. He mulled over his options aloud before he asked one of the owners what he should use, as I sat waiting.
4. My stylist didn’t wait or check for the water to become temperate before washing my hair. So it started as a freezing cold wash (but at least ended on the warm side).
5. After the wash, my stylist didn’t drape a towel around my neck or shoulders, so the next half hour involved cold water dripping down my neck, under my apron, and down my back.
6. It took my stylist two hours to give me a dry trim, a wash, and a blow dry. I am beyond appreciative to be given so much time, but after the first hour when I told him I needed to be done within the second hour, he became noticeably agitated and stressed out, even knocking over my water and dropping both his blow dryer and curling iron on separate occasions.
7. Throughout the appointment I got the uneasy feeling that both the stylist and I were being intensely observed by the owners, who never spoke to me.
8. When I was paying, the woman at the front desk didn’t know what to charge me. She asked my stylist, who ALSO DIDN’T KNOW what to charge me. An owner answered at that same time I did: «$ 125» (except it was actually $ 130 with tax and $ 150 with tip).
9. My stylist didn’t have an S&O business card. He handed me a generic card with his name scrawled on the back of it.
10. The name of my stylist is nowhere to be found on the S&O website or in their Unilocal reviews.
Weird, right? It was clear my stylist has been in the business forever but at the same time it felt like beauty school. It’s true that I adored the gentleman cutting my hair — an effusively passionate artist and light-​filled being. The cut was okay (I had to re-​shape my bangs the next day at home). But I just can’t shake the feeling that I was had. I was willing to spend more than I’d ever spent before for a top-​notch salon experience; I’m just not so sure that’s what I got.

I am very picky about my hair and trusting a new salon is always nerve wracking. Not at Sacha & Olivier. My stylist, Andrea is truly a hair aficionado! Her cuts always look amazing and I never have to do anything to my hair. That’s when you know you have a good haircut. It’s days when I do nothing, I get the most compliments. When it comes to color Andrea kills it every time! She is a trained professional. I always get single process and sometimes highlights. When it comes to color, she makes me look like I was born that way. Not easy to do when your highlighting. People stop me on the street and ask where I get my hair done. Everyone in the salon is super friendly and I always enjoy the conversations!

I finally found my go-​to hairdresser. I will not let anyone else touch my hear.
The staff is extremely nice and highly experienced. They took the time to discuss what I wanted and gave me valuable advice to decide what to do. The result was stunning. I have very thin hair and complain about lack of volume. The cut I got gave it a gorgeous volume and I keep on receiving compliments.

Absolutely love Sacha & Olivier Hair Salon! The shop is nice, clean, and very up to date. Andrea Grabher is awesome!!! Andrea is efficient, precise and friendly. She is truly talented and her passion for color and hair shows each time I go there for a haircut and color. She listens to her clients and works with them to achieve the perfect look and style! I have known Olivier over 30 years and he never disappoints. My hair which is curly does not make for an easy cut. As I have aged, my hair has changed. Olivier has always been able to deal with it and keeps it current and youthful.

Been coming to S&O and seeing Sacha for years. Feels like home. Have gone through various hair lengths and colors, and have been very happy each time. It’s a no-​attitude zone, which is delightful. Clean, bright, and they try to accomodate your hair’s special needs as well.

This Salon is brilliant! I’ve been to many hair salons and there usually are not many people who actually listen to what you want, understand your hair, and then do something great. I got a cut and color with Andrea last Saturday and it was absolutely amazing!!! I’m so happy with it i now don’t want to go anywhere else. My hair is not dry and brittle, it doesn’t stick out in weird ways when I don’t style it, it just works with anything i try! as a stylist Andrea is Awesome :)

One of my favorite places in town! The Salon is very clean and modern and the people working there are friendly and very professional. Must check it out for yourself. Ask for Andrea Grabher. She’ll style you right!
